Weight Loss Do Calories Matter on a High Protein/Low Carb Plan? Nov 12 2009

Totally random, and not on the topic of this post, but Carmenxox, if that is your stomach in that profile pic, please inform me on how to get them, cause I am so jealous of them I might die.

also... not eating lunch is a horrible thing to do for you body. Having salmon and salad for lunch is perfect, but not having any is damaging to your metabolism, it's like skipping breakfast. Why do it?
Eating nuts instead of carbs, or low fat cheese, or drinking low fat-fat free milk is great to replace carbs too, but you need a bit of oatmeal or granola here and there, won't hurt. I don't really eat bread anymore because I found that it was making me put on weight, I was eating too much of it, so I stick to Kashi granola bars and oatmeal for my carbs and some fruit like bananas and apples.
I would also start including 1/2 hr of weight training with your walking, it'll help knock off extra pounds by raising your burn since you are ripping muscle and building it to create that extra bit of push. Walking is great, but it shouldn't be the only exercise you do.

Clinique makes a great foam self tanner that I swear by. I used to use it religiously, but age as made me comfortable with my pale Irish self, but every once in a while a nice *fake* tan can help :)

I would just cut out bread, carbonated drinks and sugars for the week to help get rid of some extra water weight. That's kind of what I am doing. I have the same issue, I am being Lady GaGa from the VMAs performance which is not only stomach bearing, but legs and butt bearing....so just kinda kick out some of that stuff and that should help, it won't make you lose *weight*, but it might help shed some water weight.

Fitness Runner Stretches? Sep 03 2009

I run 3-4 miles depending on how sore I am. Now I can take a break run one day, rest day, run again and still feel super sore from the first run. I want to run cause I actually like running, I like Runner's High. lol. It also helps me feel like my body is really working.

I've been running for a little over 2 months now. I am sore all up the back of my leg from ankle to thigh. I hate that I cant run multiple days in a row since I get reallllyyyy sore after two days in a row and exhausted. I have good shoes, I know everyone always suggests that, but they are great and comfy. I walk a bit before running, stretch, run, and stretch again.

Fitness Why women don't want to lift big - one reason at least Jul 22 2009

I make noise when I lift, but i keep it silent, or on the lowest levels of volume, cause I dont want to sound like someone is killing me.

There was a guy lifting in a completely different room who every time he lifted his weights he let out this loud SCREAM "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!" and it echoed thru the entire gym.
Probably one of my favorite moments.

i was the only girl in the heavy lifting area yesterday night, it was actually kinda funny, cause I am 5 ft tall and lifting no where near what guys lift, but at least I am in that area. I actually like it. They motivate me to keep going(even tho on body scale we will never look the same or lift the same) the guys at my gym work pretty darn hard and they are very polite to me. But once I get on the ramp to do my crunches, I kick their butts :) so thats nice.
but yea, the whole grunting thing guys do when they lift has got to stop. its sooooo weird.

thanks everyone for the awesome advice :) i walked to the gym today (2 miles there, 2 miles back) and my knees feel better and my muscles feel a bit loser, not as tight and contracted causing me knee pain, i will definitely try not run days in a row and run more sporatically.

I just bought new shoes that are amazing. they are by Sacony(sp??) I have been thinking about getting cushion to put inside my shoes I just dont know where to get those types of things. I was at a shoe store yesterday and didnt see anything for running shoes. I will definitely take the 3 days a week advice. I was just walking outside and my knees feel stiff and sore. I just hope I haven't already done damage.
I exercise 4 days a week for like 1hr 1/2 doing weights and other body movements.

yea, i am thinking i may have to switch back to elliptical for a bit. I was just excited because for a few weeks i was without knee problems running, I was doing really well, and then i got sick, couldnt run for 1 week and a half and totally lost it. now my knees are mad at me. I thought maybe I wasnt stretching right, but I do touching toes, hamstring stretch, frog stretch, calf, thigh... notta. i just dont want to say no to running, i really like it, and i've lost weight from running =\ i didnt lose any weight on the elliptical even when I did it for an hour, I only have to run for 30 minutes and i've dropped weight. wah.

I'm pulling for Tara now. I hope she takes it. I feel bad for Filipe since he went home and platued, but hopefully he'll get back to it and lose more weight :) Thats so cute that he started his own little workout group.

As much as I can't stand how Ron has been acting lately, I felt for him last night since he has pretty much saved his own life by losing all that weight.

Those MRI scans of fat were crazy to look at!!!

I want Kristen to still win for the home team!

Go tara and Kristen!

Dude, I'd love to see a day of eating for Bob AND Jillian. For once, if a celeb(and I use that term lightly here) at least made it public how they ate besides a few stupid diet articles in US Weekly or Ok! Magazine, I'd be one happy person.

What I'd also like to know is how they can run 10mph for 2 minutes on a treadmill? I can't even run 7mph for over 1 minute...

I disagree, I don't think Kristen would have voted out Mike. I think she likes the challenge, I think that is why she consistently pushes herself from week to week at workouts. I also think her "alliance" with Ron would have effected her decision to vote off Mike, since she probably wouldn't have wanted to piss him off and lose her backup. But after last night, I am sure Kristen woulda been singing a different tune about voting Mike out just to get back at Ron for being such a backstabber.

But now that Mike and Ron are like "he's gonna win this" everyone left is going to turn against them like whoa. They better be up for a real challenge now.

It made me sad that Ron "appeared" to have turned on Kristen with the way the show edited his conversaiton with Mike. If it truly went down that way, Ron is an evil man. I'm glad Kristen stuck up for herself and I hope she comes back and knocks Mike's socks off!

Team Kristen!

To avoid mercury posioning you should only eat one can of tuna  a week.

If you like fish and want to eat more canned stuff, try salmon, it is much lower in mercury and pink salmon is really good for your muscles, plus its loaded with alot more Omega-3

My heart ached for Mike's brother when he said "Now I am the big one". But I hope that when they return home they can seriously help him shed the weight and get him healthy.

I was going to be pissed if Kristen got voted off. Tara is so selfish. I kind of liked her, but now she just annoys me with her behavior. Helen is also selfish....so no wonder the two of them tried to vote Kristen off.

I'm really frickin' glad Kristen stayed, she needs to stay. She needs to win this.

500 calories for a cupcake? I wouldn't have played. I thought I was going to puke just watching them shove that stuff down...I am sad Sione left, I wish Filipe would, he's become uber annoying as of late. Helen needs to be put out NOW, I cannot stand her. I still dont understand why she asked that her daughter be voted off...something evil about that woman.

Tara is not going home. I think next week we shall see Lauren go.

And I agree, Kristen is a fantastic competitor and no one seems to realize that. Love that girl, I hope she gets close to winning or actually surprises everyone and wins.

I lost weight on Ortho Tri Lo(it made me sick to my stomach, so I couldn't eat much) My friend is currently on Yaz and gained weight and she is as healthy as they come. She is a vegan and works out every day. Her breasts have grown a cup size and hurt all the time. She has been so frustrated that she took herself off. Now, everyone is different, so BC effects everyone differently. My mother got a blood clot from hers when she was younger. I don't think I ever gained weight, but I wasn't happy on it that's for sure. All those hormones mess with your mind. I'm not saying don't take it, but just be careful. Pick a good one, particularly one low on the levels of hormones.

My boyfriend thinks that car game last night was fixed because Tara ended up winning even pulling 257 pounds compared to Sione and Mike with ALOT less. I'm glad Tara won, don't get me wrong, I was pissed at everyone's poor attitude toward her, competition or not, everyone deserves to be on that show, it just gets people to watch when they get voted off, but that's that part I hate most. Those people deserve to be there and lose weight, they are doing something so amazing! When Mike and Ron went home last week, I cried because of Mike's brother. I felt sooo bad. Hopefully this will change their lives and they can all be healthy together.

Personally, I thought Helen was going last night because I cannot stand her. I feel she is so weak and needs to go home and workout. Her daughter needs to come back.

I love Jillian, but I hope Bob gets a chance to win.
