Weight Loss Weight plateau Jul 31 2009

It's funny as I have a similar problem... though I'm older (52) and male... I started to diet, no, I started my lifestyle change on February 1st.

Feb. I was easing into this 'thing' so I lost 5 lbs.  April I lost 10 lbs.  May I lost 9 lbs. June I lost 10 lbs, but as of today, July 31st I only lost 6-1/2 lbs this month, which was not a great surprise as I found my weight fluxuating up and down by 1-2 lbs almost every day.  By the end of June I lost 50lbs, and clearly my body and its metabolism has adjusted to the weight loss, and so I'm finding it harder to LOSE weight (w/o exercise... which I do find hard to make time for).  I haven't gotten discourage YET! LOL though the realization that I won't be losing 9-10lbs a month to more quickly get to my target weight of 170 by the end of September is annoying. <sigh>

I started, uh, a little late, on February 1st at 245 pounds... as of this morning, June 8th, I'm 206 pounds.  Last week and a half I've been bouncing back and forth between 208, 207 and 206.  I'm determined to get to 200lbs by July 1st though... well we'll see if that goal is reached.

Congrats on your weight loss!!!!!

Welcome to calorie count, and best wishes on your weight loss!  I've used this system since 2/1/09 and have lost 36 lbs.  I used to weigh myself twice a week, in the morning, but then would get annoyed when I wouldn't see a weight loss between readings (usually because I had hit a temporary plateau).  After I had lost about 20-25 lbs I started to weigh myself daily once I got comfortable with the idea that from day to day my weight can bounce around up or down by 1-2 lbs. and so I should not freak out! LOL  In general I've found I'm losing 2.25 to 2.50 pounds a week looking at past months, so I shouldn't get excited, nor should you about what you weigh on any given day (IMHO).

I also love mini pretzel twists with roasted red pepper hommus!

Me too!  Though that is a special treat - 10 pretzel snaps (little squares) with a little hummus on each - since I haven't checked how many calories it is.  If I'm watching a movie at home, I have to have a bag of low-salt, microwave popcorn... though I altenate that with 'white cheddar' rice cake which is 45 calories each (once I got past the feeling I was eating styrofoam because of the texture!)
