The Lounge I need to be more secure about my relationship :( Nov 05 2009

I also have to agree that he's still spending way too much time thinking about his ex.
Am I the only one who read that they broke up 4 YEARS before, and now you ahve been together for a year, so 5 years? 5 years later he still makes a slip up and calls his ex his girlfriend? hmmm.
My boyfriend and I openly talk about past relationships, or things that remind us of an ex, but only in a facutal sense. I know that he wants to be with me, because he would be with his ex if he wanted to be with her instead. I know that she would take him back in a heartbeat, even though they broke up almost 2 years ago. My bf and I have been together just over a year, and just bought a motel with his dad (yes, a motel lol). If he didn't plan to spend his future with me, he sure wouldnt've brought me into the equation financially.
The only slip ups my boyfriend ever makes is sometimes he will be telling someone a story or bring up something current (his ex owns an upholstry shop and does beautiful work, she is doing the interior of our boat at the moment in trade for something he said she could ahve eyars ago - so we're the ones winning in the end. He got rid of something he didn't want and got something we needed). Anyway, his only slip up is sometimes he will say MY name instead of hers! (nice to know who's on his mind ;))
I can honestly say he has never called ME by her name, or called her his girlfriend since we have been together.
I would say "bye bye" to him, because thats just bizarre.

Original Post by trustwomen:

I was always sweet as pie to the girlfriends of my conquests, ahem, friends. I could afford to be - I felt superior to them, I could be gracious beyond belief, I even felt a little sorry for them. I didn't want to steal their boyfriends, that wasn't the goal, I didn't really want these guys as boyfriends and I wasn't in love with them, I was happy to leave the gf all the real work and simply skim off the cream for myself - the attention, the priority in their hearts, their physical desire. (Yes, I was all kinds of f-ed up, I know.)

I meet way too many girls who are like you used to be who are interested in my boyfriend LOL. I am just lucky that he has grown up enough to tell them that he has a girlfriend and thats who he's going to be spending his time with that night. It definitely heps my piece of mind that we live together though ;)

Jellykiss - i would have a big problem with my bf staying at another girls house. Plain and simple, why don't they just meet halfway at a restaurant or something and catch up, and then go home. Whoever said that friends do dinner a movie, and then go to their seperate homes, is right.
I know you love/trust your boyfriend, but every thing that has been said here, I immediately lean towards caution. My boyfriend would choose, me or them. If they want to meet for coffee, great. But no sleepovers. Period.

Young Calorie Counters Sleeping in late? Oct 29 2009

Haha wow Chrissy good call. My suggestion was going to be far less healthy. When I sleep way in like that, or end up with like 400 calories by the time dinner rolls around for one reason or another, I use that day as an excuse to enjoy something I normally wouldn't get to within my allowance, like a 2 cheesebuger meal at McDonalds, or a pasta dish either at home or out at a restaurant. Those days are my favorite hehe. Or have a massive piece of dessert or something like that ;).

cc foods lists neat alcohol (or 100 proof) as 4 calories per gram, or 82 calories to the ounce.  I don't know why everclear would be so much higher than that.

Because everclear is 190 proof, not 100 proof. Far higher alcohol content.

I would have an ebi (shrimp) sunomono, with a rainbow roll (california roll with sashimi on top. Yum. I think thats actually what I'm going to have for dinner today...), and then usually another roll of some sort picked at random off of the menu. Sometimes an order of tempura or gyoza. I do, however, usually only go for sushi with my boyfriend or friends, and share both the rolls. If I am alone, the sunomono and the rainbow roll are sufficient for me.

no fruit is fattening as long as its eating raw. trust me, in fact the more raw fruit you eat the leaner and healthier you will become. so think of fruit as a free food. and don't worry about your blood sugar because raw fruit will not raise it.

This is completely untrue.  *Any* food is fattening if you eat too much of it.  Admittedly, it would take awful lot of watermelon - but if you were to consume 10 pounds of the stuff, that's a lot of calories and they certainly would count.

I would like to meet someone who could consume 10 pounds of watermelon a day.

Thanks for not understanding the point of my post and snapping at me. :/

I don't think they were snapping at you at all, but it sure sounded like you snapped back.

I felt snapped at. x_x Like he was saying that I said overweight people are restricted in what activities they decide to pursue, so I wanted to explain myself and that I felt snapped at/misunderstood.

Have to say, you didn't help. x_x

Now I feel snapped at, and like a jerk. What a wonderful day for me.

No, you just assumed that it was something difficult to do for even someone who was fit, and really its great for everyone, move at your own pace. I feel no sympathy for ANYONE on TV, even if they had had those people naked and trying to pole dance. They're all sell-outs, the second they step in front of the camera they're a sell-out. I'm sorry, but they deserve everything they get if they think that all their weightloss problems are going to solved because they went on some TV show. You can't tell me, not for a second, that they 'forced' anyone to do that. If they didn't feel comfortable going on national television and making fools of themselves, they wouldnt've signed up for a reality show in the first place. I have watched the biggest loser a few times, and I think the concept is stupid. Great for the people who "win", but I think that it is looked at the wrong way. People on that show will be upset when they 'only' lose 3 pounds, and don't 'win' because someone else lost 7 that week. I think every pound lost should be celebrted for all of those people, because losing weight is definitely a challenge for most. But really, the point I want to make is that all the whiny people making fools of themselves on that show and others deserve to feel like idiots when they get back to their hometown. Find a regular exercise and eating program people and stop trying to get your '15 minutes' on reality shows.

And then they brought out the stripper pole.

Now, I am all for getting fit. If you like to dance, please, dance away. However, a stripper pole? Really? Why? These people are already overweight and going through the indignity of wearing unflattering, skin tight clothes, why must they now struggle with a stripper pole? Fit people can't even pull that off (I'm guessing. I don't know, it looks difficult).

Just to clear this up, because it bugged me when I read it.
Pole dancing (for fitness) is actually a great workout. I have been taking classes since January. It is not 'hard' to do, because it is in levels, so it is progressive. At the studio I dance at, there is SUCH a wide variety of people. Short, young, petite people like myself are a minority, for sure. There are quite a few mid-to-overweight women who are taking the classes, and many of them are seeing positive results. There are younger heavier people but also older(50+) that come weekly or more.
And many of the heavier people are - you guessed it - better dancers than the rest of us.

Just my comment on that, I haven't actually seen the show xD

Do you know what they paid? I actually know someone who has a breast augmentation booked for October in Mexico (she planned an extra long holiday there so she can recover in the fun and sun), and the price is quite low. Then again, I don't think I would want to go there for anything like that, personally...

Umm, does it really matter what an online calculator tells you?
You are 5'3 and 125 lbs - there is no physical way you could possibly be obese.
Go to your local gym, and ask them to measure your Body Fat % - the only truly accurate way to measure BF% is with calipers - even the digital scales that send impulses through your body are not correct in measuring body fat.

I just can't help myself.

Yum

  • Meat Lover's Pizza from Pizza Hut -drools-
  • Diet Pepsi
  • PEROGIES
  • Nachos (particularly homemade, using tostitos, cheddar cheese, and heinz brown beans from a can - if you haven't tried it, DO IT)
  • ANY fruit, esp grapes.
  • Sushi/Sashimi
  • ALL Seafood/fish (except mussells)
  • greenbeans
  • mini wheats w/skim milk
  • fetticine alfredo

Eww

  • Wendy's (anything from there makes me feel nauseasous)
  • Cottage cheese
  • Plain avocado (squeeze of lemon or in something I like it)
  • Bleu cheese (makes me gag)
  • Tofu (can NOT find a way to enjoy it)
  • Soy milk (see above)
  • Fatty bits on meat. Ew.
  • Cheese smokies
  • Rye bread
  • Egg yolk (must be well cooked if in eggs, and I won't eat it all all if its hardboiled)

It was hard to come up with healthy foods I LOVE. My absolute favorites are all borderline unhealthy hahahaha. Don't forget things like ice cream, mcdonalds cheeseburgers, hot fudge sundae from DQ mmmm... I usually eat healthy though, the above are real treats, and I love every second of them...

According to this article, if you are going to the toilet more than once every 2 hours, and your urine is colourless, then you are drinking too much water...so i've come to the conclusion that I am drinking too much!

God if thats the case then I am drinking too much - I work at a desk, and sometimes I have to go 2 times in ONE hour lol. Ugh.

And to whoever just posted that you aren't supposed to drink while eating - there is so much conflicting infomation. Why, then, is it recommended that to help combat overeating you take a sip of water in between bites? Idk. I throughly enjoy drinking water while I eat, need to actually.

So here's my solution:  Lets legalize nudity in public and marijuana while we're at it.  Then, when the Rapture happens, all the die-hard Chistians can go on up to thier boring little heaven and listen to Lawrence Welk and drink Earl Grey tea and remain sexually-repressed, getting-off on feeling 'naughty.'  Then the rest of us can just get on with the business of being human.

LOL I love it . All of it.
Because its pretty much the way I feel.
Also, I think it was you lorik who made the reference about Canada being more liberal than the USA - and I think you are absolutly correct. Being a Canadian who ends up in the US multiple times per year, I see it first hand. A great example (though unrelated to the discussion topic) is marijuana usage. I'm not going to lie - I partake in said usage on a regular basis. It curbs my anxiety. It also makes me binge - but the anxiety is a far greater evil then the binging (I just don't buy junk food anymore when I buy groceries for that very reason). I live in BC, where marijuana use is even more liberal than the rest of Canada. Hell, we have a cafe in downtown Vancouver called the Amsterdam cafe - where you can not only buy pipes, bongs, endless rolling papers, vaporizers, etc., but you can roll and smoke your pot right there in the cafe, while you eat your sandwich. Yes, police/law enforcement know about it, however they are far more involved with the herion/crack/cocaine usage just a few blocks away, and generally leave the stoners alone :P I think nothing of walking down the street downtown and smoking one with my boyfriend, because chances are there is somene within a block of you doing the same. And this is the nice part of town. Then again, its extremely common to see two attractive, well-dressed men holding hands walking down the same street, and not one person even giving them a second glance.
With regards to the OP again, I agree that being lied to is not acceptable. My boyfriend knows where I stand on the topic (not even white lies are acceptable - I am brutally honest and couldn't lie to save my life, so I expect to be treated that way). However, I do think your husband shuld be allowed his own freedom of choice. Blocking his internet usage is, like others and myself have already said, something you do to a child. Not your partner.
If he can't respect your wishes, or you can't respect his, then there is clearly more dysfunction than you let on.

Love the rainbow roll, order it everytime - though I order it with half the rice (something I think Eva Mendes does, read it in Cosmo a couple years ago - cuts the carbs/calories from the rice in half obviously xD). Red snapper is my fav sashimi/nigiri, though I love salmon and most of the rest of them too.

I also always order a sunomono salad (those clear noodles in rice wine vinegar - so tasty and refreshing).

Beyond that it depends who i am with. I LOVE yam tempura, and gyoza. Only get those if I am with my boyfriend though, since he *must* have something fried lol.

Usually I order another roll of some sort if I am with somene else (so many delicious options!), or if I am alone sometimes just the sunomono and the rainbow roll. "
I love edamame as well.

I just love sushi in general.

God now I m REALLY craving sushi, thanks a lot lol

"Its not unrealistic body images...its simply what some people are like"

So you think there is an elemnt of truth to the images you see in porn? That thats what some people are like in the bedroom? Interesting.

I'm not going to lie - I have learned a lot from porn. I know what my boyfriend likes when he watches it, we have watched a fair amount together, and if he sees someone do something while we're watching (or even by himself), he will tell me and we can try it out together. It keeps our sex life interesting for sure.  We have also discovered a few new really great positions and other 'techniques' we both like, once again via porn.
Definitely an element of truth to some of it. I would hate to be our landlord.
Seems there are at least a few liberal-types on this site, which is good to see.

Vievien - the age thing - I am not so sure what way to consider that in my mind in relation to him watching porn. The way I can sort of see it, is that he more than likely is not thinking of other women while he is being intimate with you. Hell my boyfriend is not shy and very honest with me, and tells me often even when watching porn on his own he is thinking about me instead. Particularly given your age gap, I would think your husband probably does the same - any older guy with a younger woman generally 'can't believe his luck'. My boyfriend is 34, I am turning 21. Women that are around the same age as him always try and tell him that I'm "too you for him" (he is such a charmer - no joke he could have pretty well any woman he wanted - if you met him, you would understand. I feel lucky to have him, he's amazing). He always politely tells them that they shouldn't judge me before they know me. Meanwhile, all of his male friends think he's the luckiest bastard they've ever met haha. Sorry, small tangent. But you get what I'm saying? Likely he is not thinking of the pornstars when he is with you. Because if he would rather be with another woman, he would be.

I agree with you nomoreexcuses. My boyfriend and I have a great relationship for that very reason - he doesn't try to control me and I don't try to control him. It makes it very easy for both of us to be honest with eachother. We do, of course, know what the boundaries are, but being restricted does not make for happy, long-lasting, honest relationships.
Vievien, would you like it if your husband decided he didn't like something you were doing, and prohibited you from doing it, particularly if its something harmless?
Once again I refer to my original post. Men get bored easily. And by locking your husband out from porn sites it makes him feel disrespected, guaranteed. You are treating him like you would a child. All you are going to do is force him to spend your hard-earned money on other outlets, whether it be magazines, DVDs, renting movies over the cable/satelite box, going to the strippers, or worse.
At least you can find free internet porn pretty easily.

That, and what about the days/nights you are not "in the mood"? Should that mean he has to deprive himself because you;re not interested?
Idk, I just like things to be smooth in my relationship. It is so much easier if you can be acceptant of your partner.

Motivation Belly Button Jewelry May 26 2009

Personally, I avoid Ardene's, or any other store that does not specialize in carrying body jewelry. The stuff they carry at Ardene's is VERY LOW QUALITY. I have over 30 different ones for my belly button, and each and every one of them has been bought from either a piercing/tattoo studio or one of the speciality body jewelry stores/kiosks (body mods, culture craze - 2 we have here in BC). They range in price from about $25-$60+, but at least I know what they're made of, and that they have been properly sterilized.

You get what you pay for.

I'm with Jules. Men really are visual creatures. They also have a tendency of getting 'bored' with the same thing all the time. Think of it this way - at least he is watching porn on the computer/TV instead of going out and cheating on you. In his head he is still getting some variety, but not compromising the integrity of his relationship with you.
My boyfriend owns a number of porn DVDs, as well we have an open satellite so we have about 40 diff porn channels (i know, i know). Quite frequently I will turn on either the tv of the dvd player and porn will be on. But it doesn't bug me, because like I said, I am just happy he is at home 'taking care of business' (nice wording Jules haha) instead of out at a bar somewhere trying to hook up with some other chick. I have watched with him on occassion as well.
he is not shy about the fact that he watches, and I know if I did care/make a big deal about it, that he would tell me I was being ridiculous. And I think he would be right.
I used to have a problem with one of my exboyfriends watching porn, until I considered the other alternatives and realized its no big deal. I would rather he sit at home and watch a dvd then go out to the strip bar and stuff money into a stripper's g-string.

I never really thought about it before, but I prefer the lowfat or light versions of most dairy things, like light cheese, skim milk, low fat frozen yogurt, FF sour cream, light cream cheese, even light mayo, I can't stomach the richness of the original. These foods in their full fatty goodness, actually give me a tummy ache and always have. I can drink 2 litres of skim milk and thoroughly enjoy it, but one glass of 2% and I'm doubled over in pain... So I have been buying the "light" version of all those things long before I started "dieting" I also prefer the taste of diet pop, regular makes my teeth ache it's so sweet, but for the 4-5 glasses I drink a month, I'm not too concerned.

But there are definetely foods that have to be real! Pretty much anything non dairy, lol

I am exactly the same! Full fat dairy makes me feel very ill. Whipping cream does it to me as well. I can handle rich ice cream though...

I know this sounds counter productive, but I think you should increase your calorie intake. Time and again on this site people have posted the same/similar things as you. And basically they put their bodies into 'starvation mode' by eating far less calories than they need. I will allow someone else to explain the science behind my suggestion, since I have a broken hand and its a real pain to type with one hand ;)
