Hello i doubt anyone will remember me i posted on here ageeees ago when i was recovering from an ED....well I now consider myself recovered but yesterday my mummyo said I was looking a bit thin and wanted to weigh me.  turns out I lost 5lbs since last time!!!  I guess its a bit of uni pressure anxiety and not thinking about what im eating really.

Well now i need to focus again, inspired by lots of the food on here, some of you guys are so creative i don't know how id have the patience to cook such delicious sounding foods!  anyway, this is what i made a concious effort to eat yesterday, how does it sound....will i get the weight back on? (i don't calorie count)

Breakfast: Big bowl of porridge oats with milk, two massive hanfuls of raisins and jam mixed in!

Snacked on some tinned pineapple and had 2 glasses of apple juice

Lunch: Chicken corrination and lettuce sandwich, mango and banana smoothie 

Snack was one of those big head sized chocchip cookies from starbucks and a latte :)

Dinner: Maccaroni cheese (stupid weight watchers one though), a random chicken leg and some broccolli mixed with this tomato herb sauce

Snack: Piece of bread with like 1/4 a jar of peanut butter and a glass of milk

Fidget, I agree. I stopped posting the food I ate cos it felt like others wern't eating properly and I felt my ED thoughts coming back eek!

I wasn't really counting cals (always over 2500 though) but people posting their food like they know the exact cals in everything freaked me out a bit, I mean there I was jotting down my latte and carrot cake snack while someone above was seperating out the different amount of calories in their wheatgerm, fage and lentil thing - I think part of gaining with disorders is getting OVER these thoughts, not obsessing now obsessing about what you eat even more.  Sorry if I've offended, just my own exp here.

 hi everyone, havn't posted on here for aggeeeeesssss so not surprised if no one remembers me!

Having a flick through, everyones been doing fantastic ^ sparkleskirt I know what you mean about the oversleeping thing, i've been doing it quite a lot since my A levels are over so it's a bit of a pain having to try and cram around lunch time.  Anyways, stopped counting altogether now and making sure I just eat lots but i'll just post yesterdays foods to give you an idea of my daily eats :)

B: Smoothie of milk, 3tbs PB and a chopped banana, handful of trail mix

L: Chip shop chips at the beach :)  and a double scoop gelato ice cream (gelato is sooo much yummier than normal ice cream i swear!)

S: Apple and pB, a LoT of raisins, OJ

D: Sardines on toast with lots of EVOO and a side salad with hummous

S: hot chocolate

I really just despise Special K - it's not that it doesn't taste nice, I just hate the fact its promoted as a 'diet' cereal so people think they can eat tons of bowls of it when it's really just sugary and doesn't fill you up!! and that stupid advert for it grrrr...

Amazing cereals are

agruskin I was wondering the same thing, there's no WAY some posts here can be over 2500 I suppose the 'rules' or whatever have changed

Anyhows..

B: Oats made with milk, a chopped banana, 3TbS PB and crunchy granola on top, OJ

L: Tuna and hummous in a WW bap, a pear, 5 chocolate covered brazils

S: double icecream cone from sidolis - maple and walnut flavour and apple pie flavour :)

D: Nandos chicken burger with salad and spicy rice

S: Green tea with honey, PB and banana mashed up together

It's hard to say whether you'll put on lots of weight and how fast - everyones different.  You'll probably gain a few pounds in the first week but then it will begin to slow.  Just keep eating hun!  Your body is thanking you for some well needed calories (at 38kg you're very underweight) so d/w bout it.  Once you get to a nice healthy weight, then you can start worrying about nutrition and stuff but this is probably the only time in your life you will be able to eat all you like so just enjoy it :)

Don't feel guilty, I know it's hard especially if you were previously restricting but I think it's important that you get back to normality of being a teen - most of my mates live off burgers and fries lol so there's nothing wrong with scoffing a few as part of your gaining!

eugh! I have a swollen knee atm so have to have a week of total rest (no running or dance :(  ) but on the plus side i just finished my exams wooooooo!!!  Bring on summer!!  so excited now summer foods are the best hehe

B: Oats made with milk, PB and a banana

S:Banana and pB

L: 2 WW rolls with pilchards and tomatoes and a chocolate nutrigrain thingy

D: Just got back from pizza hut, celebrating exams over wooop!  Tuscany pizza to myself with ham and mozzerella and stuff on it anddd a cheesecake smoothie!! it was so lush

S: later...probabaly cereal or another banana with yogurt and honey

summer, i know what you mean about the craving a certain breakfast thingy - when i come down in the morning it's alway like hmm...shall I have this new cereal?  Nope...good ole oats again haha nothing really compares!

B: Oats made with milk, a banana, 2 TBS smooth pB and shredded coconut

S:Chocolate milkshake and cranberry juice

L: Cheese and tomato toastie, carrotsticks and grapes with hummous

S: Granola and milk

D: Chicken breast with pasta and broccoli in EVOO and OJ

S: 250g greek yogurt with honey and 2 chocolate digestives

okay, firstly, these don't really sound like serious crazy binges.  What you eat sounds about the same as my teen bro (who is completely sedetary btw!) and everyone knows teen boys eat a ton so don't fret about it too much or you'll become obsessed.

The fact that you're counting your calories, protein carbs etc suggests you are thinking a bit too much about what you eat so therefore have an urge to break away from this and...well just eat what you fancy.

Clearly the main reason for these 'binges' is the fact you're not eating enough.  How are you gonna build muscle with an apple for breakfast and egg white omlettes and salad sandwiches for lunch??  sounds like the diet of a faddy dieter to me.

The way to stop is with 3 SUBSTANTIAL meals a day and keep some healthy snacks on hand for when you get peckish (maybe prepare snacks the day before and keep them in a bag in the cupboard), that way you'll know what you can have for the day and won't be tempted to scour the cupboard and fridge for anything and everything.

Lastly, I suggest keeping busy to prevent a binge of boredom.

B: big bowl of musili with green top milk, 3 boxes of raisins, flaked almonds and a sliced banana on top

S: activia yogurt with raisins mixed in

L: PB and banana in a toasted pitta bread (melty goodness!), cucumber and olives with hummous, chocolate milk

S:Packet of chocolate iced gems (anyone remember these?), 2 glasses of OJ

D: Quorn escalope with rice and veggies in pesto sauce, cranberry juice

S: Hot chocolate and like 1/2 a pack of trail mix

I suggest you post this int he weight loss thread.  People here actually want to gain!  But..I'd guess a slight increase in muscle mass or you're eating the wrong types of food.  also depends on what time you got on the scales.  You could have lots of water retention hanging around.

L: Starbucks hummous and mediteranean veg wrap, cappucino

S: Banana with A LOT of peanut butter haha it was seriously like smothered

D: Pilchards,mash potatoes with butter, salad with caeser dressing, cranberry juice

Yes you can still do cardio and gain but you would have to eat a HELL of a lot.  How much do you weigh atm if you don't mind me asking?  If you have a bmi below 17.5 I think you should really try and cut down or ideally stop altogether in order to reinstore your health completely.

I used to be an exercise addict too so I know how hard it is to hear this.  The way you've used the word 'addicted' suggests this is a disorder/problem rather than something you do out of enjoyment.  Just try and level it down a bit - I have been doing pilates and yoga throughout my gaining and have totally swapped cardio for this - it burns less calories and works better on your core strength and abs etc plus i bet you'll find it just as elivating!

Seriously, if your doctor is telling you to gain, the process will be a lot quicker of you leave the cardio for a little bit - just think, most people don't even bother with formal cardio exercise unless they want to lose weight.  If it is something you genuinely do out of enjoyment and not a compulsion in any form, just keep in mind that the sooner you have gained weight, the sooner you will be able to exercise again.

pgeorgian yeah I completely get what you're saying, there's no way I'd want any child of mine to be looking up to any authority figure with disordered habits of any sort which can be an influence.

However I am totally mentally recovered!  If I wasn't, I would take the year out to get well.  And it's not just one of those things that people with past EDs may say in order to try and convince themselves of this - I'm a dedicated gainer atm and am just trying to get to a healthier weight in time for my uni place and teaching placements - need all the energy I have to be in control of a classroom eventually - eek!

merylwhite I appreciate your concern but the info on my profile was like back in January and I have since gained about a stone.  Besides, I don't see how all my gaining effort should be rewarded by not going to university - it just doesn't make sense.

grapefruit and mel, cheers girlys I have now written my goal weight i wish to achieve by September, hopefully it's enough not to be any cause for concern.  Even if they do decide to question me on anything, I'm gonna fight for this place like crazy!

Thanks everyone

Well by September, I hope to be up by nearly another stone (or more) which would make me 7st5lbs - not so underweight but still outside the healthy bmi range.  I'm scared that if I write this, they might still call me in, weigh me and discover I'm really a whole stone lighter!

I really think it's to do with the health risks associated with being underweight - teacher needs to be physically fit (although I'm active and eat lots) so it's soo unfair they judge by a number.  I know!  A number of my teachers at college are overweight and I don't see any of them being penalised.  I have to send the form off today ahhhhh!!  If I'm called in, do you think I should just stress the fact that I know I'm underweight and need to gain?  Or just play oblivious, like saying about the whole skinny family stuff?

I'm so scared I won't get up to a good weight in time for my uni course (they can reject me if bmi is too low), been really upset all day so am upping my calories as of tomorow ... well from this afternoon really

Anyhoo..

B: Oats made with milk, handful of flaked almonds, 2 chopped apricots and honey

S: Chocolate milk

L: A tin of sardines in oil, hummous, grapes, spinach and pitta bread

S: Handfuls of raisins, a raisin yogurt bar thing and a FF mocha with whipped cream

D: 4 fishfingers, pasta in pesto, hummous and sweetcorn, OJ

S: 250g of vanilla yogurt with lots of branflakes and raisins mixed in

Liquids help me out looads.  Not sure I would be making it to enough calories without servings of chocolate milk and OJ, just have them when you're thirsty :)

bsh0611 I'm sorry but I don't think you should post until you've got the right amount of calories for gaining.  I'm scared of sounding like some kind of bitchy moaning person lol but posting stuff like 1/2 an orange and some apple for breakfast could affect some of the people on here who have had eating disorders in the way that they could maybe relapse or think they don't need as much food as they're eating.

I know you'll get there eventually with the 2500 (well done so far btw) just please wait until you are there to post :)

S: Strawberry bio yogurt and a handful of almonds

L:2 poached eggs on toast, spinach with hummous

S: pitta bread with PB and jelly

Well we like completely ran out of food supplys so today's a weird one!

B: Bacon sandwich with ketchup, an egg and OJ

S: Hot chocolate with whipped cream from coffe shop, apple

L: 2 pieces of toast with more egg (scrambled), some peas lol with evoo

S: more peas with ketchup, raisins, OJ

D: A MASSIVE bowl of all bran and a random salmon fillit

S: chocolate oatmeal!  - milk mixed with cocoa powder and oats it was sooo good

L: Sardine, cucumber and ketchup sandwich with solero lolly for dessert :)

S: crisps and cucumber slices dipped in hummous, bacadi and coke

D: Pasta, peas and sweetcorn, sauteed in this tomato and basil dolmio sauce and some hummous with grated cheese and a salmon fillit

S: well my brother made us some strawberry angel delight but I only had a few bites coz i was (and still am) unbelievably stuffed lol

roseofjune yay that's so awesome!  Birthdays come once a year so make sure you enjoy a nice big slice of your cake - you seem to be doing fantastic with the food too keep it up :)

summer why yes i did mix them together ina big glass with ice haha aww thats cute with your dad making it for you - i first got the idea after I had what was called a 'summer breeze' in a pub which was cranberry, OJ and bacardi, twas sooo good :)

Ok well i think since so many of you are I'll post the calories or the energy numbers too

B: Scrambled egg on half a WW muffin , Allbran made with milk, a banana, sultanas OJ (700)

S: Cranberry juice! (120)

L: PB toastie, grapes, glass of chocolate milk (700)

S: Chocolate topped flax flapjack (300)

D:Salmon, apple and hummous wrap, salad with french dressing, (700)

tiff, post the cals all you want love!  If it helps you it's fine and I actually find it quite helpful to see how others are spreading out their calories.

B:Oats made with milk with a chopped apple, raisins and lots of honey, 2 eggs on a piece of WW toast and OJ

S: Grapes and hummous

L: 'salad' of pilchards, mixed leaves, beetroot, sunflower seeds with loads of hummous kind of mixed into it and a dinner roll, cranberry juice

S: 2 fig rolls, cappucino, tons more OJ and cranberry juice

D: Pasta with spinach, tuna and EVOO, chocolate milk

S: half a sandwich with chicken, hummous and beetroot

it has been a seriously hummousy day hehe

D: Vegetarian chili with rice and broccolli with cheese melted on top

S: 3 random spoonfuls of PB, and apple and hot chocolate with cream on top

Aww hun don't be upset - you've just diescovered your natural body shape and it's gonna take some time to get used to.  Honestly?  I'd kill to have womanly thighs like yours, mine have got a little chunkier since I've started gaining but I've gained mainly on my stomach and arms which makes me feel self concious too although I know it will get easier to deal with.

Weight around the thighs/ bottom is a lot healthier than it being around the mid section in regards to various illnesses.  Loads of people are pear shaped and fully embrace it so there's no reason you can't do the same ;)
