| Pregnancy & Parenting | I'm Breast Feeding What Can I Do? | Jun 23 2009 16:22 (UTC) |

For one Drinking Beer does not increase your milk supply, old wives tale!! It is good that you are exercising because it has been found that a mother who exercises makes more milk!!!You just need to get your calorie intake up.. I'm 4'11 and have a 4 month old exclusively breastfeeding and I eat 1500 to 1600 a day and lose about 1 to 2 pounds a week. You might gain a little weight while uping your calories but probably not.... Plus you will feel much better once your body is getting what it needs. I would say start with 1800 since you exercise, wait for a couple weeks, and adjust from there. |

I am a small female so my maintenance is only 1600 calories and I am breastfeeding my 4 month old, eating no less than 1500 cals a day losing a pound or so a week. In articles I have read it says that a breast feeding women CAN burn calories while breastfeeding and I have heard lots of others say that they have been eating the required amount (maintenance plus) and not dropped a pound. I would start off eating enough calories like I would find your maintenance and eat that. Once you're eating enough calories your milk supply will come back up and as long as you are eating good foods the quality of your milk will not suffer!!! Just like in pregnancy the body will take the nutrients from the mother first to give to baby and it is the same with breastfeeding the nutrients will go to the milk supply first than to the mommy!! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Should I lose weight before getting pregnant? | Apr 24 2009 11:43 (UTC) |

I can't tell you from personal expericeince but I know I few over weight people, like two that had babies that where perfectly fine and had no health problems. I think that health problems only apply to people who are obese. I found this in an article from the new york times. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/29/health/pers onal-health-beginning-a-pregnancy-already-ove rweight.html?sec=health&pagewanted=2 "These are some of the risks: If you have a BMI of more than 30. Chronic hypertension. Hypertension is associated with a greater than average risk of suffering a stroke and developing heart disease. Being overweight increases the risk of developing high blood pressure before pregnancy, a problem that raises the risks for two pregnancy complications, preeclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation. Gestational hypertension. This is high blood pressure that develops in pregnancy. While it can sometimes occur in women of normal weight, the risk is higher in the obese Preeclampsia. This is a very dangerous complication that combines high blood pressure, protein in urine and swelling. Untreated, it can cause the death of the mother and unborn baby. The only cure after preeclampsia develops is delivery of the baby, even if that means the baby will be very premature, a problem that carries its own risk of impaired development and failure to survive. Diabetes. Like hypertension, Type 2 diabetes is more common in overweight people. It increases the risk of heart attacks and circulatory problems that could mean poor blood supply to the fetus. Gestational diabetes. This is diabetes that develops during pregnancy and, like gestational hypertension, it can happen even in normal-weight women. But the likelihood is much higher for overweight or obese women when they become pregnant. Thromboembolic disease. These are blood clots. They typically start in the legs and can break loose and travel to the lungs, where they can quickly cause a fatal pulmonary embolism. In addition, women who are obese have a greater than average chance of requiring induction of labor, laboring longer and developing infections in labor, as well as a nearly threefold chance of requiring Caesarean deliveries."

| Pregnancy & Parenting | How do I get sleep? | Apr 20 2009 12:31 (UTC) |

Go outside!! Seriously my two year old, 10 week old and I went outside on Friday for four hours and my baby slept all night I mean from 9:30 to 7:00!! I'm not saying u have to stay out for fours hours but a nice half hour to and hour walk might help out weather permitting of course!!! Plus the excerise might give you some energy!! I have heard a lot that you can have a set night time routine like at 8 turn down the lights give a bath than a baby massage with lotion helps put them in a good mood I tried this with my first son and it didn't work for us, I was a mess till 6 months when he started sleeping through the night!! Good luck!! |

Im not in that great of shape either and I def can not afford a gym membership plus babysitting so I do pilates from a DVD. I have a DVD that is pick your level with Ellen Barrett. I usually stay at the beginner level and do some intermediate exercises. I like it because the next day I can tell what muscule Ihave worked but I'm not so sore I can not move. I do not know if it is toning my body yet because I still have some weight to lose but I know it is not hurting it!!! |

| Foods | Cheat Days; Good or Bad? | Mar 10 2009 18:00 (UTC) |

I do not have a cheat day, I leave room in my calorie count on some days to have a sugar free fugsicle only 40 cal!! It helps since i am a choco-holic!! I also just eat regular food in small portions so I do not get stuck in the salad rut and totally let cravings take over. You have to cut like 3000 calories to lose a pound so a binge of 3000 extra calories in one day, it would probably ruin a whole week. |

Original Post by carolann5111: I do not let my two year old eat like my bf. He has an apple, a granola bar, or string cheese for a snack. He only has treats once in a while so no I do not think he will grow up eating junk!! |
