nancybehrend~ Awesome a home make over...ya wanna come to WA to do my home???? hee hee I cant even get the ambition to paint my walls let alone a make over!Embarassed

recconess13~ Don't you just love getting new clothes and getting compliments! Makes you feel just great, and makes me keep up the good eating and exercising too. Travel safeSmile

foffles~ that's great about your grades, it will pay off! Wink

Brag- after today I get 5 days off at work!!!! I am spending the entire day tomorrow with my 12 year old son!

Desire- For neighbors to realize that no one is in charge of your happiness but you. If you want things to be better you have to change something! God gives us all the same chances, it is how and what we do with them that makes our life's what they are. Your children get only one childhood...if you didn't give them that at least help them give that to your grandchild now! it is never too late to love. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw every ones else's we would grab ours back. Life is not always tied with a bow but it is still a gift!

Gratitude-For Holidays!, for having a job!, for the ability to take some days for family...and still get paid for it!, for love, for friends, for family!

I will be gone from my computer for the next 5 days in that time I want everyone to remember Life is not fair but it is still good and don't compare your life to others you have no idea what they are going through. and during the holidays remember take a deep breath, it calms the mind!

Travel safe everyone! ~hth

I am starting to dislike all the negative attitude around me. and I think its because I get on here and see how we ALL should be!! be thankful for what we have.

Again thanks for this thread I do enjoy all the posts! ~hth

Nancybehrend~ I love blue healers..but we can not keep a dog at our place. no fences a round the place, and we (my husband and I) don't think dogs should have to spend there lives penned up or tied up...so no pets for us unless someday we buy a bigger place and can spend allot of time with our pets...kinda like kids they NEED attention and love! I have poured the last 13 years into kids and they STILL need it! ha ha o ya and so does the hubby! Maybe when the kids are graduated and have a life of there own THEN maybe we can talk about pets...but still need a bigger place for them to play!!!But thanks for thinking of me :-)

itislucia~ thanks yes it is hard for me to get on the elliptical because I like being out doors instead of inside...but its too dark and we have too many night hazards.

thanks everyone! ~hth

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING!!!!!

Brag- I did it again last night, I got on the elliptical and burned 200 cals! ya o ya and this morning my husband came up from behind me grabbed me and said I had a nice butt...totally made my morning!

Desire- to be able to look at my self in the mirror each morning and love what I see.

Gratitude-for family & friends!

I wish I could burn 700 cals exercising!!!! Holy moly that's A LOT!  I keep trying to get past the 200 cal mark each time.

o my! my teeth just hurt thinking of biting into a piece of one...ouch! Glad you are getting it fixed fast.

I wish I had a dog...anyone want to lend me one to take for walks daily???? I love animals.....boo hooo I miss having a pet.

I live in WA (about 35 min from the Canadian boarder) and yup it snowed again last night and this morning...but it is melting away. So I still can wear my running shoes for my walks, but I brought my coat this time...was a little cold walking yesterday! But I still did it 2x's!

Yes my family is great...small but great, hee hee. My husband is so good about helping around the house and has no problem getting the kids to help with out them even knowing its work! ha ha it helps that we are not into electronic things and don'thave a TV hooked up (never have), no video games, we don't even have a computer at home...I stare at one long enough at work...ha ha

I wish everyone a great day! ~hth

My husband also has a very active job and eats potato chips EVERYDAY with his lunch....never gains any weight, very frustrating! But this summer he started walking with me every night and started feeling different...he was not sure how but just did. He was in a good mood most all the time ...even after a bad day at work! He even looked forward to the walks. Then we switched to running ( I dislike to run up hills) and he left me in the dust...then I was finding a way out of doing it...bad me. Now its cold and dark when we get home from work and we don't walk or run ( I still walk 2-3x's a day at work) but now I have started working out on the elliptical machine at home. I will see if he joins me....give it time. WE CAN change their mindset to be healthy even with out them knowing it. I just never press it. I make it his choice what he does.

Start planing dinners ahead of time, and make them good for you and still taste great for him. Just tell him you want to try a new recipe then you are the one in control of what you eat. If then he wants ice cream after, by all means let him. Maybe get a flavor that you don't like but he likes ( I do this with chocolate and vanilla) I dislike either but the rest of the family likes them. Same with potato chips I cant stand Doritos and the family loves them.

anyway not sure any of this will help but i do feel your pain. Good Luck! ~hth

I think you are on the right track! keep it up.

I eat oatmeal in the mornings for breakfast at 7am and that sticks with me until 10am then I will have a piece of fruit or a granola bar or maybe a protein bar or fiber one bar. at 11:30am I will take a brisk walk then at noon or 12:30 I eat a huge garden salad with lettuce/ spinach/ red cabbage/ cucumbers/ tomatoes/ mushrooms/ peas/ carrots/ broccoli/ avocado/ radish/ peppers all served on 1/2 slice of wheat pita bread with balsamic vinegar. at 2:30pm I take another brisk walk and at 3:30pm I will have some fruit. I go home at 4:30pm and make dinner usually deer meat or chicken or salmon with potato and a huge helping of steamed veggies. I drink nothing but water all day about 10 glasses.

it helps to plan a week a head on what you want to eat everyday and buy your groceries from that list. I try not to shop with out a list, and stick with what is on my list. My husband is good at keeping me on track with this...sometimes its a bit frustrating but once I get home I am thankful for it...so is the checkbook! ha ha

I find that the more protein I eat the less I am hungary and excersising makes me feel good about myself for the day! Fiber is also very important and I am still working on that but found that I like kashi go lean cereal with some fresh fruit once a week instead of my oatmeal.

Good luck!

O my goodness I would have clawed his eyes out!!!! OK maybe just screamed my head off....not sure. You did the right thing and I do hope they will take better precautions for avoiding ANYONE having to deal with that!

By all means if  you think taking some time off then do but do go back you sound like you enjoy the gym. Maybe (this may sound strange) but wear a swim suit or have close at hand a body towel or wrap for when you get out...not sure that will help. It gives me chills just to think about it, so you might need to just give your self some time.

I do wish you all the best! Good luck Smile ~hth

by the way heatherparks my husband and I have OCD too, my hubby is worse than me about it...but we both have gotten our fair share of teasing through the years growing up. Its great when you find others like you. all the best.

Hang in there you can do this! YES kids are soooooo hard sometimes and the easy way out is to give up...but don't.

My son has always had the rule you eat a little of everything I cook then you may have seconds if you would like of what every is on the table. He does not no any different so I don't have any issues with him (he is 12) I also make sure he knows how to cook the basics.

But my step daughter is a different story she never has HAD to eat what is in front of her...so what I did was dish everyone up (mind you a small amount) and if she liked it she could have more. If there was something that she said ooooo YUCK to then I warned her (also her dad did with me) that if you say that again (or anything negative about a food) then you will get a second helping...ok we are not talking a little kid she was 10 when I came about. but it only took 2 times of that happening and it has never again happened. and yes she still loves me :-) she is now 15.

but I also let the kids help plan our meals out and make them (they love doing this) especially if they can surprise dad with a desert!

I do cook healthy well balanced meals, but when they all ask for mac-n-cheese I don't have a problem making that a side dish and I stay away from it.

good luck and remember that most kids need to learn that you cant always get what you want...its hard, but they will be better adults in the end.

also make a salad with dinner every night that will help you out on your diet quest, fill your plate up with greens! and you can always have several choices of salad dressings to choose from for everyone :-)

I hope all this helps!

and apples are great if you dry them too. I just spent 3 days drying home grown apples for the winter months. They are sooooooo yummy! like nothing in our stores. Sweet and no artificial anything, also easy to keep!

Foods squash Oct 21 2009
23:36 (UTC)

I always bake mine. and I cut mine up in 1/4's becauseI will get the entire squash (approx 2.5"x5.5"per piece) and I will bake all 4 pieces at the same time just wrapped separately. but if it's pre-cut it all will taste the same :-) yummy...

take some foil (that will wrap the entire piece up in)

set skin side of squash down on foil (if left on)

sprinkle with small amount of water 1 TBS (also depends on size of squash)

sprinkle with brown sugar (don't need very much) 1 tsp (also depends on size)

seal in foil place on rack in oven bake for 30 min at 400 (time also will depend on the size) your squash will be soft when done.

my son will add some smart ballance butter to his but I like mine with out.

enjoy!
