Buy smaller containers/plates. I went the the store and got little bowls meant for babies. They can contain up to a cup of food, and they're great for when I eat dessert or anything that has high calories. It makes me feel like I'm eating a lot because I can fill the whole bowl and still fit everything into a healthy diet.I also eat off of salad plates a lot, I can get seconds and eat the same amount as I would if I ate off a bigger plate.I also let myself eat whatever I want 1-2 days a week, within reason. Usually on those days me and my SO go out to eat or order a pizza. It does make me lose weight slower, but it also keeps me from eating everything in sight because I'm not depriving myself. |

Ok, so I was out shopping and decided to buy some because it was on special for $1.99. Tried it and it was great. I tried it plain out of the package and it looks like sugar and tastes like sugar, just a little stronger, at least to me. You guys should go out and try it. |

You were probably bloating from eating the soup, especially if it was canned. Canned soups usually have lots of salt. |

Original Post by purespark: I find raw celery to be extremely gross when its raw. It tastes like soap or something along those lines. I love the flavor it gives to food when its cooked. |

You should do what I do. Plan on having whatever you want for that meal but load up on fruits or vegatables beforehand. Eat half the amount of your desired food last and you will be satisfied since its the last thing you eat and your stomach is already pretty full. |

You should try getting those drinkable yogurts. Grab some fruit and one of those for protein and you're set for the next couple of hours. Pack some extra food with you too. Sometimes I pack a banana in my purse for work. It keeps me from eating as much. |

Original Post by dpgclb562: Unfortunately I'm at the stage where everything is a little lose but not enough to make me go out and buy a new size. Plus sadly like some overweight people, I was wearing clothes that were a little too small because I was in denial of my weight gain. |

| Foods | The best option to put on bread... | Aug 19 2009 17:08 (UTC) |

Well I personally think that it depends on what you're craving. Sometimes you can eat the healthiest food in the world but if you can't get rid of a craving you will keep eating until its gone. Nutritionally speaking, the peanut butter is the best option, I personally would do half peanut butter and half nutella. I'd get a sweet treat with some nutritional value. Also, if you're putting butter on your bread because you want something salty, try hummus. You can get it in different flavors and its like 50-60 calories for 2 tablespoons. Go ahead and add a slice of cheese or meat and you have a great sandwich for the same amount of calories as butter. |

I'm not sure if its available in the UK. I just saw it in US stores. Look at the organic yogurts in the UK and you might find something similar. |

| Weight Loss | I'm so hungry | Aug 12 2009 01:43 (UTC) |

Original Post by tinabobeena: I do eat eggs and dairy, not too much dairy though because I have lactose issues. I was considering a soy protein powder but I want to stick out a little without it since it might just be from readjusting to not eating as much. I do drink plenty of water. At least 64oz a day. I take 11oz water bottles to work and I'm constantly refilling them. I also eat lots of soup and salad, always with a source of protein and added veggies. If anyone has any tips on staying full on budget let me know |

I eat protein with every meal. Also, it looks like I have a lot of carbs but with vegetarians, you have to combine foods to make a complete protein. |

Could you try some vegan dairy substitutes? I've heard the tufutti sour cream and cream cheese are really good. Those could help make a base for a 'cream' sauce. Even if it sounds gross once you add spices to it the flavor will totally change. |

Since you eat so healthy maybe you should just try incorporting other healthy high calorie foods in your diet. Maybe if you eat veggies roast them in a tablespoon of olive oil and there you have 120 healthy cals. You can also make veggie sandwiches with cheese and the bread and cheese will add some extra cals.you mentioned that you were tight on money so I'd like to mention that you should shop the sales. I'm kinda in the same boat and we still eat meat half the week. I work in a grocery store and I buy a pack of whatever meat is on sale. Last week we had boneless chicken breast for $1.49 a lb so I bought a pack which was less than 6 bucks and I roasted it and we had that for 3-4 days. I also buy ground turkey, a pound is under 2 dollars and its very versitile. We only eat meat once a day though. If you do that you will end up eating more calories. You should also look into shopping at an international store. I do that for produce b/c its soo much cheaper than bigger chains. You can take the money you save there and splurge on other things. |

| Weight Loss | does birth control make you gain weight? | Dec 12 2008 14:25 (UTC) |

The hormones in the pill cause people to get instense cravings and if you give into them you end up gaining weight. I heard that its normal to gain 5-10 lbs from the water rentention it can cause. Another thing I heard is that most women go on it when they go to college and their lifestyle changes and they tend to drink more and be less active. |

I just did a sample menu using the guidelines they gave me and its actually a lot of food if you spread it out right. It also gives me a couple hundred calories to play around with after everything is planned out, that means I get dessert :). To me it basically seems like a weightwatchers plan but instead of counting points you're counting the food groups and measuring them. I think this will actualy prevent me from eating junk b/c I will know exactly how much of everything I have to eat. |

Try eating a small peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Its like 150 -200 calories if you use 1 slice of bread and cut it in half with half a tablespoon of peanut butter and half a tablespoon of jelly. This always fills me up no matter what. |

| Weight Loss | For people who jog/run | Dec 10 2008 14:01 (UTC) |

I highly doubt I'll gain much weight from running because I have so much to lose. I also think I have a naturally really high metabolism because there were times when I ate over 3000 calories a day on a regular basis and I only weigh 167.You're right though, no matter how much its been sucking at times I end up feeling really good after I do my cool down walk. I have also already noticed a difference in my body after just a week. My muscles actually feel a little more defined. I'm one of those lucky people who can get in shape really fast, the problem is finding the motivation to do so:( |

Fruit is not bad at all. Even diabetics who should not eat a lot of sugar are advised to eat fruit. They might not eat certain ones due to blood sugar issues but they can definately eat berries, and other low sugar fruits in moderation. |

Yea I couldn't take the taste and tossed my food and settled for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I have been having a rough time trying to use my new slow cooker. I just threw out 6 chicken thighs b/c the mushrooms ruined the taste. |

The places near my house always offer a diet menu. It basically consists of steamed chicken and veggies with your choice of sauce on the side. It also comes with white rice but if you can get brown go for it. Another option if you want something 'bad' is to get tofu. Some of the places here offer sesame tofu. You will get the unheatlhy fried sesame part with a healthy protein. It will also have more fiber. Just make sure to drink plenty of water and eat slow. |

| Weight Loss | best birth control for NOT gaining weight? | Nov 18 2008 16:54 (UTC) |

you should try lower dose pill, they tend to have less side effects. When you look at different types of pills make sure to not just look at the estrogen content but the progestin that it contains and the amount it. Sometimes the progestin has more of an effect than the estrogen. No matter what just keep in mind that everyone reacts differently to birth control. Take of these reccomendations with a grain of salt. Remember that there are more options than just pills. If you want something that won't have a hormonal effect but is very reliable why don't you ask your doctor about a paragaurd IUD? I would ask for it but I don't think that at this point the risk of expulsion due to the fact that I haven't had kids is worth the amount of money I will be paying since I don't have insurance and it will be out of pocket. If you do have insurance and its covered I say go for it. Good luck! |

I had very good luck with desogen. Then I switched to estrostep and I gained 20 pounds. I know half out was due to my own ways but it really did make me want to eat ALL them time. Ortho micronor aka the mini pill was ok. I didn't have any emotional side effects or weight gain but I think I spotted every other week while on it. I also broke out a little more. It was manageable if I stuck to a skin care routine. Now I'm on cyclessa and I like it. Its low dose and I don't feel hungry all the time. I've only been on it 2 months but it seems that I only get like 2-3 days when I constantly want to eat which is ok by me. It has also cleared my skin really well. |

I want to lose weight but I'm trying to find something that I will never have an excuse not to do and this seems to work for me. I've been watching what I eat and so far I've lost 10 pounds. I know half of it was water weight but the other half was fat b/c it hasnt come back. As long as I get my heart rate up its ok right? |
