p.s. night eating is completely okay. eating after 7pm, 8pm, etc etc is a complete myth and if there is any truth at all to it, it's for people who are overweight and not active. if you're hungry, then you're hungry and you eat, and if you don't get a chance to eat until late at night, then so be it. your body will be fine :) |

hey! you sound exactly like where i was (dance included!). i've been gaining since june, and never went above 2000, and i didn't want to gain on 2000 so a couple weeks ago i pushed up to 2300 and i didnt gain at all, and i've maintained on that since so it's definitely not too late for your metabolism! i know it's not 2500, but it's pretty close, and you're more active than i am (hey, i'll be taking more dance classes soon though ;) ). Considering you're dancing 4 hrs a week too, you will be fine, and you might even need more than 2500. just get up there, hang out there for a bit, and see what your weight does PLUS take note of how you're feeling too--- hunger levels? temperature--still feeling really cold? etc. good luck and don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions :) take care love! |

I ate HALF A TUB of Ben and Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk last night! and no, it was not a binge--my friend is going through an extremely terrible time and last night someone threw another loophole at her. and so she needed ice cream therapy. but she didn't want to be eating it alone so i told her i would eat with her. and i did, true to my word. it was delicious, nom nom nom :) i even scooped my portion out of my bowl back into the carton after she had served herself because i wanted to eat out of the carton. i've always wanted to do that! i've always wanted to eat an ENTIRE carton to myself too... i have no idea why this is an aspiration of mine but, i shall be truthful, it is. |

teens should just focus on nutrition and eating a healthy diet, if you feel the need to address your diet at all! teens, especially teenage girls (male? female?), really shouldn't be too worried about their diet, unless you're eating mainly junk food and white flour and sugars (unhealthy sugars, not fruit sugars or the a few cookies a day :) ). teenagers are still developing and your body needs the nutrients and energy and calories to be able to grow strong and help your body develop properly. don't think of it just as food for today, think of it as food and nutrition for tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, and next year; your whole life. if you're weighing fruits and veggies, which are really healthy and you can eat as much of as you want, it sounds almost like ed behaviour... be careful you don't get too obsessed with calories, etc, especially of fruits and vegetables! if you think you may be developing an ED, don't hesitate to get help or talk to someone about it. an eating disorder is an eating disorder, no matter how much weight you've lost or gained, or whether you count calories or not, or whether it's been going on for a long time or a few weeks; it can still be an ed. for stopping counting calories, just stop. trust yourself and stop. it might take a few days or weeks, but eventually you'll find yourself becoming less obsessed with it. the trick is to just not let yourself do it. i'm still working on it ;) trust yourself, love yourself. you can do it! |

swimfan: thanks that's awesome! question though: isn't it bad to get the calories you need from ice cream/desserty foods? I ask because I have the biggest sweet tooth ever, love ice cream, ate it (occasionally of course, but it was still allowed) throughout my ED days... but shouldn't I make up those calories with healthier items? |

nappsie: thanks for answering the wrong post, it made me smile and i still think it's helpful, even if it's not answering my direct question (what post were you trying to reply to anyways?) i love the idea of putting myself into a different role when i'm eating... i'll have to try that out :) rebel: i know, but it's a start... and im figuring out that i should probably get my calories more in the beginning of the day. i woke up really hungry this morning, and now, evening, im not hungry at all, although that might have to do with how hot it is outside, because heat decreases my appetite. but im thinking that if that's the way it's going to be, than i'd rather consume more of my calories when im actually hungry :) except for some reason i really like, well, 'really like' you know what i mean, to eat in the evenings, although then that often gets to be too late and i go to bed feeling really full. i'll get it sorted out eventually though. thanks for the tips though... i am definitely going to keep them in mind :) |

| Fitness | Hmmm.... Abs? | May 25 2009 14:04 (UTC) |

you should suck in and contract your abs when doing sit-ups, crunches, etc. imagine a rock pressing down equally over your abdominal area when doing ab work--sounds a bit weird but it helps me. if you don't contract your abs when working them, they'll bunch up and give you a round tummy. you want them to be as flat as possible when working them because this will work all your abs, not just the ones that are on the surface and generally known-- ie. the 6-pack, and help you achieve a flatter stomach overall. just to let you know im a dancer (ballet/modern) and all my dance teachers have told me that, as well as my yoga and pilates instructors. good luck! |

i made cookies today for a party tomorrow and ate sooo much cookie dough and then a couple cookies when they were done... not too happy about it now (and neither is the stomach) but i guess ED will just have to suck it up :P |
