For the time-being, I just count calories.  However, I am new to this as well.

I'm on the west coast, so I haven't seen it yet, but I was upset that NBC.com's page told me the winner before I saw the episode! Ugh! I'm happy with the winner... but ugh! The episode hasn't even aired yet!

not a specific food, but I let myself eat/drink what I want on the weekends - it keeps me sane during the week!

I considered doing that... perhaps if my willpower starts to dwindle I will try it.  Is it working for you?

My friends and I are having a guilt-free night and putting off our studying (this is exam week) and buying pints and pints of ice cream.

I used to eat things like that during this show and it made me feel really, really guilty... haha.  Of course, that was before dieting, so now I find that it's a great motivator... and makes my Lean Cuisine that I eat during the show taste REALLY good! :)

Like basically everyone else, I'm hoping Michelle wins. :)

I've fallen in love with this show this season, and have found it to be a great motivator!  I can't wait until the next season starts. :)

If your pocketbook allows, grilled portabella's!  Olive oil, garlic salt, fire.  Hamburger bun w/onion.  I just died and went to heaven.

You know, I love mushrooms but have never had a portabella mushroom "burger".  I'm going to run to the grocery store and get the ingredients for one tonight.  Thanks for the dinner idea!

Weight Loss Want to be fit by summer time! Dec 15 2008
23:58 (UTC)

I sure hope you can do it, because that is my goal as well. Smile  I am trying to lose 20 pounds by April 30 - just in time for summer.  Last summer (and 2 summers before that...) I was too self-conscious to even wear a bathing suit, and I'm really tired of my negative body image getting in my way.  I'm also tired of complaining each summer and wishing I'd done something about it over the winter.  So, I'm starting now!  I started at 150 pounds and weighed in yesterday at 148 (I just started a week ago).  I hope to get down to 130 by summer - I know I can do it!

Just make sure a 20 pound weight loss is reasonable for you and that you're not trying to lose too much. :)

Weight Loss 60 lbs down..accused of starving myself!! Dec 15 2008

I am worried that the same thing will happen to me over the Christmas holiday.  I am flying home to see my family for Christmas, and I know them... I will get the same reaction when I don't eat the "normal" food.

I have only lost 2 pounds so far (I just started this), however my starting weight was 150 pounds... so, not huge, just huge for ME.  For that reason, I know that my eating well will cause quite an uproar with the family... although I'm sure they would all agree that I could stand to lose some weight.

Each and every time I diet - and see my family - I get the same reaction: "Oh, come on! Eat something! You're starving yourself! It's not healthy!"  I think it's hilarious when they call my excessive eating of vegetables & healthy food "not healthy" as they try to force-feed me some cake.  Ironic?

Try to stay strong.  I know it's hard... but I think most people get this same reaction from some people in their lives.  Maybe it's their way of telling you that you look just fine the way you are.  However, you know what is best for you... so stay strong!

Weight Loss Evening Eating Dec 14 2008

I have the exact same problem!  I find the best low-calorie nighttime snacks for me are ones that take a while to eat.  My current favorites are string cheese (I eat the regular kind, not the low-fat) and those small clementine oranges (I love that they can be broken down into sections).  Still, I do find the evenings very very difficult.

paintedbliss - your snack sounds wonderful right now!

I see it's already been suggested, but I'm going to throw my two cents into this conversation... go for a halter top!  Now, I have small boobs... but a halter top can do wonders for anyone.

Weight Loss What made you start dieting? Dec 10 2008

I have been upset about my weight for a while, but haven't really been motivated to do anything about it.  It has been a culmination of things that have forced me to realize that I HAVE to do something about my weight in order to be happy again.

I was always thin - until college.  When I went from 120 lbs to 140 lbs in college, I freaked out and lost almost all of it.  Now, over 2 years after college, I'm over 150 lbs - I'm 24 years old and 5'7".  I know I'm not HUGE - and that's what's always kept me feeling like it's not a HUGE deal to lose it.  However, this past summer I realized that I didn't wear a bathing suit even once.  I only wore shorts a few times - and each time I was so self-conscious the entire time.

My boyfriend of four years is great and tells me I'm beautiful - however, he wants me to wear bikinis, shorts, and dresses... and, looking like this, I just refuse to do so.

We just returned from a trip to Las Vegas and I realized that I spent most of the trip looking at the other girls I saw with jealousy.  I was so angry that they could wear those dresses and that I would look terrible.  Then I realized - I could wear them too... I just need to lose about 20 pounds!

I started this weight loss journey at around 153 pounds, and last night's weigh-in said I am 149.8 lbs.  My goal is to weigh 130 for my birthday, April 30th... just in time for summer!  Bring on the bikinis & shorts!

I was watching The Biggest Loser last night and Michelle said something that keeps resonating with me each time I'm tempted by food: "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels."  I'm keeping that in mind, and I know I'll make my goal!
