You may have just plateau. When I first started the diet thing I was 200lbs 5'5" I took my calories down to 1500 a day bought a rowing machine and rowed 20 min every day about 200 calories maybe more. The first month was going great the weight was falling off, then bam! Nothing! I had lost 10lbs the first month then just nothing I actually gained weight, and thought I must be doing something wrong. I have a friend that's a trainer and he said that happens especially if it had been awhile since you were eating right and exercising. The brain kind of freaks out and thinks your food source maybe getting scarce (the brain unfortunately has not updated that featuresince the stone age) and starts holding on to everything, until it sees if your starving. This is when most people get frustratedand quit. Hang in there this is a slow process ( i know so easy to put on so hard to take off) Also don't try dropping your calories drastically then the brain will really think you are starving and start consuming your muscle. I stayed the same weight for two months and then started dropping again, untilI got down to 160. If you are burning more than you intake you will lose weight you have to it's just slow sometimes. There are a couple things you can do to try a break a plateau, try switching your cardio up, if you normally walk on a treadmill, switch to a stair climber. Hang in there it will happen sometime it just takes awhile. It took me over a year to lose 40lbs |

| Fitness | HELP! just starting running and having MAJOR issues! | Apr 07 2009 23:38 (UTC) |

Are you running on dirt or asphalt? New shoes? Flat feet? High arch? I was 30 when I took up running again and had the knees and the bottoms of my feet give out just like you said. I was told by my doctor that I should be running on dirt, he would prefer grass for my knees, this helped my knees. The feet were a different story, he blamed my shoes, the shoes were about a year old so I went a bought new ones, still no change, I asked a friend who runs often and she suggested the Birkenstock inserts. These seemed to help, but I was still having trouble. I ended up doing ankle and feet exercises every day, and had to change my running technique. My toe was to far off the ground when my heel was hitting which was causing my ankle, feet, and knees to be at extremes of range of motion at foot landing. Believe it or not this worked |

I love soups when I'm sick as well, and this book is great for making soups. 1,001 Delicious Soups and Stews: From Elegant Classics to Hearty One-Pot Meals ISBN-10: 1572840919 I like the way it breaks down the calories, fat, sodium, etc. It a great way to eat soups for around 3 to 4 hundred calories. Hope you feel better.
