You body is now super excited. You are giving it real food! It is congratulating you on eating. Keep eating. Btw if I were you would bunch some stats into a calorie calculator and look around on this site. 1,200 is quite low. And from personal expericence upping it a bit resulted in faster weight loss. Enjoy your food. Isn't it fun to eat a bit? |

second the motion floggingsully. I live in a dorm again and omfg the noise these girls can make sometimes is amazing. Like truly I wonder how it happens. At almost all hours there is someone screaming, running, jumping, talking, laughing, or in general trying to out loud whoever is on the floor. Nice girls, all of them. Just wish I had several large black socks. |

I'm 5'1 and twenty. Every time I have gained weight, I have felt the same way. I have cut my calories down to 1,200-1,300 for about a month. I exercised forty five minutes a day and walked around campus for a total of well over an hour. I lost the weight, however after a month I suggest aiming for more than that. Around 1,400-1,500 should do nicely depending on your exercise burn. I have found that getting too low for too long is a waste of time no matter how short you are. You will lose a bit for a couple of weeks, but those last pounds will not move. So, up your calories a bit and it will help you out much more! Oh yea, I have found regular treats help. Candy, chocolate, pudding, milky tea, etc. really keep you happy and on track. |

5'1 20 feel best at 105-110. Anything a bit over I start noticing pants getting a bit tight, more jiggle, so I know I need to cut down on calories and make sure I'm getting good quality exercise. Anything below 105 and I feel like a child. Plus I don't think its very realistic at this point in my life. I havent stepped on a scale since August but my pants and tops fit me like my old weight of about 106-108.

In the summer, I ate way over my maintence calories, and worked out. I was running 20-30 miles a week. However, overeating is what made me gain weight. You are probably over eating and thereby gaining weight. If you are fine with that than go from here with the information you now know. However, if 130 is were you liked the best than watch your calories, and work out like normal.

Since I was little I loved the canned cranberry junk, however this year I'm branching out into the homemade variety. Guess who's recipe actually looks and is apparently amazing? PAULA DEAN. Sweet jesus never thought I would try something of hers. I'm also trying Giada di Laurentis's pancetta baked mashed potatoes. Get ready canned cranberry.....you might have met your match with Paula. |

| Weight Loss | to all of you 100-110 pounders... | Nov 18 2009 14:32 (UTC) |

Well now that I have lost weight, I'm getting myself at to eat a bit under maintainence. My phord calculator has me eatng 1,300 calories, and I work out 5 days a week with running, ellipitcal, etc. I'm eating a bit under because thanksgiving is coming up, and I would like to have some extra cushion. Same with Christmas. I found when I was eating normally, not using food as a boredom thing, I took in about 1,800-2,000 calories. I was working out 4 days a week. I started regaining my weight at 2,500 calories and not working out or walking everywhere on my campus. I'm 20, 5'1, and currently 106-108 lbs. I'm currently strapped for cash, so until my dad throws some cash my way, Im eating around 1,300-1,400 and burning probably about 300-500 calories on exercise days. I eat a healthy, or modify high fat reciepes when I can. I make personal pizzas with 250 calories, for instance. I would also say, since I haven't lived at home like I did in high school (excluding this depressing summer) I only eat one serving of dinner. If I make pasta I make enough (4 oz) to fill me up, however after that there isn't anymore. I let myself go though. Last week, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I had around 2,000-2,500 calories all three days. About two days a week I run 5.0-5.5 miles. Two other days I may run 3.5-4.5. And the last day, is quite light, for instance I'll use an ellipitcal. I just go with whatever my body feels like doing. Much less frustrating that way. To be honest OP, your body knows where it wants to be at. Enjoy what you have, instead of wishing for something that isn't possible. I'm sure you are beautiful, you just have to believe it. Any questions, though, you can ask me. |

My best advice through the weight loss JOURNEY... "Take one day at a time. Do not believe that screwing up one day whether it is by eating 200 calories more or 2,000 is a good enough excuse to stop becoming a healthier you." Good luck. This site can be a great support system. |

For a moment I will assume you have some type of eating disorder. Nonspecific perhaps, however I'm not a certified therapist, so I will not diagnose you. Every time you cut your calories under the recommended limit for a longer amount of time than up it will result in a weight gain. Yo-yoing yourself from normal intake to such a rigid one will continue to make you lose and gain than lose and gain. In turn, your extra weight (that is if you have any extra true weight to lose, not simply you being vain) will result in no weight loss. By eating a sensible amount, you will more than likely see a steady weight loss that may take an extra couple of weeks, however has a much better chance of staying off. This is provided you continue eating a healthy, moderate, and overall balanced amount of food. With added MODERATE exercise, you will see faster results with a stronger body, mind, and overall outlook on your weight loss goals. Could you give some stats.? Maybe we can help you out a bit. Just cautioning you, in my personal experience and others too, lowering too much results in either binges, various eating disorders, and weight gain. It can be worked off, but the absolute truth is that is must be done over several weeks or even a couple of months. Your body and mind will be grateful. |

cheer up! You are giving yourself a solution to your problem by seeing a doctor and by working through your issues cognitively. That's half the battle. maybe when you get down to a lower weight your body doesnt want to be there. Could you hit in the middle of your current weight and lower weight? I mean you're 30 years old. Not 20 anymore. Maybe you are depressed, however instead of medication have you considered therapy. Even short term is quite helpful if you have the correct attitude and outlook. Are you sure you ate 20,000 calories Tuesday night? In addition, try not to stock your "trigger" foods in the house. Maybe until you get this more in control, you could stock only 2-3 days of food in your cupboards? You would have to walk to the store more often, however it would be a bit safer. Are you getting a decent amount of fats, protein, etc? |

Why don't you put stock/water into a pot, add your beans, chicken, or whatever protein or carb (like potatoes), than put that mixture into your bowl. After which you add your roasted veggies. They should stay pretty crunchy even by the time you finish your first bowl. Sugar snap peas are also an excellent addition. |

You this may be irrational, but sometimes doesnt it suck to be rejected by someone whether they are worthy or not? If you are trying to lose weight lose it. But do it because you want to feel better about yourself, and you want to do run 3 miles without getting winded or cross country ski this winter. It's a double standard, however I honestly don't think it will ever change. Rejection is crap. If I feel rejected or frustrated with men, I find a long, hard run and several G&Ts with my girlfriends is a great mood booster! Love yourself! Be confident, its ALWAYS sexy! |

First do more resistance. Try changing the types. I suggest homemade soups. I put cabbage, a potato, carrots, parsnips, an various other veggies in a pot of water. Add in some herbs. Also add in a boullion cube of chicken or beef (one if feedings two people, 2 if four) and cook together until veggies are almost tender. I eat that for a bit as meal, and it seems to help. Play around with eating less carbs, more lean proteins (soy, eggs, chicken, tofu, etc) and throw in more veggies. Fruit is good, but not too much because in comparison to veggies they have a higher carb content and a bit more calories. Nutriently though they are excellent, and would never suggest you stop eating them! Also, maybe this is the weight your body is happy with? Or you have reached a plateau? Change you workouts from the elliptical for the treadmill. Various intensities, distance, and time also help! |

totally similar to you! I'm 20 (just yesterday!) 5'1 and getting back down to 106-108. Right now, I'm probably around 110. I recommend not getting down to 98 lbs. It's unnatural unless it's natural. The women or girls that eat normally and work out a bit maybe naturally be 98 pounds, but it's rarer than anything. So, why not aim for more strength training or intervals on the treadmill? Work on that for 2 to 3 weeks and see if you lose a pound or two. For two weeks or a little more I ate about 1,200 calories and burned 400-500 calories on the treadmill (45 minutes) and on average I walk around town for over an hour to even 2 and a half. Now, I eat probably 1,300-1,400 a day and perhaps my weightloss is slower, but it is okay because I have about 3-4 vanity pounds to lose. I'm not sure you are actually burning 700 calories in 40 minutes, we are quite small so it takes more like an hour and a half to get up to 700 calories. Don't always trust a machine. If you just want to lose the last bit of weight like me, I recommend taking a bit slower. It helps mentally, and besides even if you (like me) feel larger sometimes remember that we are always too self critical. Your jeans are the true measurments to go by. If they are too tight, worry. But if they are a 0,1, or 2 and fit well....trust me you can't possibly me too big. |

You must. must. must. get Fre wine from sutter house. It is non-alcoholic, however it comes in a variety of types. It also tastes excatly like wine, and it even smells like it!! They put the "grape juice" part and let it blend with the alcohol. However, they take out the alcohol after it flavors it. Seriously, to all CCers and non alcohol drinkers, drink this up! |

Happened to me too. Just gotta get back into working out. Start today, and dont stop. Yes, right now there is nothing you can see. Give it a month of good eating and working out and you will be fine. It's all about routine eventually. Kinda like brainwashing. Conditioning yourself to exercise, and eat well. Just like you have conditioned yourself to study, shower, wash your face at night, and everything else you have learned to do daily. |

"Ugh... I'm so frustruated with myself, why does this happen? I should be able to handle some schedule changes or add ons.. what's wrong with me? I know some of you are in school too and it sounds like school always affect the diet or workout at some point, how do we overcome this?" It's okay! You know life is just lots of cycles. Sometimes we are on the ball and other times we fall off. We aren't robots. So, yea a little slips here and there are normal. In weightloss, relationships, schedules, and whatever else seems to get thrown in the mix. I have to get this great quote I read about how every day is the next day to change yourself. I'll look for it! When our schedules get interuppted it kinda causes the mental focus to be put elsewhere. Ya know? I kinda try to role with the punches. I'm in my sophomore year of college, and I have learned to mold my schedule if I know it is going to start changing for a week or two. Sometimes it works, others it doesnt. Start planning ahead for working out or if you know you are going to be tired, work out early in the morning or only go for a walk for a bit with your SO or something. If your kids can handle you walking or jogging while they are at their sports maybe you can do that? Not sure. haha dont have children so I have absolutely no idea. I'm back to working out, five days a week for an hour. Eating 1,300 or more. I just havent been hungry. My room has no air conditioning, so I find the heat upsets my appetite. Might also be the pill who knows. Oh well.

Froot Loops: 1 cup is what? 120 calories? Who in the junk, kid or adult, only eats 1 c. up of this sugary cereal for breakfast? It may only have 12 grams of sugar, but uhh that's all it has. It has a minimal amount of vitamins. As in each vitamin added is less than 9%. Froot Loops, and similar sugary cereals like it came about to target the easiest audience, children. They weren't made to be healthy like oatmeal, whole wheat toast, eggs, etc. They were easy to produce with cheap materials. When you think about it though, cereal is super expensive. Froot Loops are something like $4.00? You can get a large can of oatmeal for that. It has 30 servings. If I have to say what is better than something worse I would say..... Oatmeal with Marshmallow Fluff is better than a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch (the devil's cereal ;) |

I used to run my 3.1-4.1 at about eight minutes? Sometimes more like 7:30. however right now I'm aiming for 3.1 in under 30 minutes and 4.1 in about 38 or so. I'm aiming to lose about 8 pounds total..not sure if ten is realistic for me! I have learned to just get on the treadmill...Just get on. Put it up to a light jog and than steadily move it up. Once, you get your body moving at the gym sometimes it can be hard to stop! Yesterday, I didnt want to run. I was all for a nice walk. But I promised myself. So I should be nice to myself, and do what I promised. I got on the treadmill, did 3.5 miles with my 3.1 mile mark reached in under 30 mins! Good job Busymomandwife! Wow, being a mom and wife and trying to lose sounds like one huge ball to juggle! haha your kinda inspiring like that. Wltennisgeneral- yea, sometimes I feel like my day revolves around my exercise. But it just means you're willing to make time for it. I mean you plan when you study, or work, or watch your favorite television show. Why not exercise? Your goal sounds quite reasonable. Nice job! Afluffyadorablebunny-Keep moving. Sometimes extra walking helps. Or sometimes the mental motivation for going to the gym for me is that 'maybe i'll just walk today' ya know if I just need the break, but still doing something is always better than nothing. Keep going! Don't give up because you havent seen the results yet. I always say give your new lifestyle at least a month. One month. I have said our life expentency is something like 80. Could you handle it for one month out of all those years? Write your breakfasts, lunch, and dinners down. even snacks. it helps me. Don't be sad either! You can do it! Just give it time and patience! Sweatpantssundays-I eat potaoes with stolen condiments from the commons, sweet potatoes too. I eat veggie sandwiches. like get some veggies at the salad bar (about 25 cents for the sandwich amount) and two slices of bread. Throw on some spicy mustard! Eggs in the microwave are hard to cook at first, but it can be done. Get some sauces from the market (currys, masala, tomato) and put it on rice, pasta, etc. I make cheese sandwiches. Hot or cold. I live in a dorm so, I have a steamer, and microwave. Haha thats my stove and oven! Oh yea, popcorn. I eat that at least three or four times a week. sometimes as a side other times as a snack! |

Well isnt that a stumper. Hmm...add more oil like a tablespoon to veggies if you eat them. Throw avocados or maybe nuts on salads or anything that needs a good crunch like oatmeal, baked things, whatever. Eat a scoop of the high calorie ice cream at night. 1/2 cup (one scoop) can sometimes be almost 400 calories. Dip apples, bananas, or whatever fruit you like into whole fat yogurt. Or even 2%, but get away from low fat or fat free. If you eat meat make sure you get regular portions, but don't be too careful on excatly 4 oz. thing. Whole grain pasta or anyother grain usually has higher calories. Eat some of that with tomato sauces, alfredo, or olive oil and such. You probably just are the rare ones with high metabolisms. I mean if you were checked by your doc., and you are telling the truth about your usual calories (which i believe you are.) you are fine. Look on the Weight Gain forum for lots of yummy ideas. You can eat a lot, but still healthy! |

That is pretty good. Yea, I don't know I just seem to lose weight fast. I'm going for my old usual five/week running between 3.1-4.1 miles a day (trying to get myself back into running shape from early summer. sigh) 45 mins of cardio is the goal and 60 mins. being the longest. I'm eating around 1,300 calories a day and pretty healthy. I'm kind of a health nut. Onto another story, when I was planning my meals out yesterday for today, I realised I honestly have very little money to be able to eat more than 1,400 even. I dont want to eat peanut butter all the time. Nuts are expensive especially with two people eating them. Dried fruits=ditto. Pasta is the cheapest grain besides oatmeal or potatoes. The only protein I get is from the occasional yogurt, eggs, or sometimes a bit of soymilk. Someday I wont be a poor college student. Basically, oatmeal is my life though. I could eat that stuff literally for breakfast lunch and dinner. Wltennisgeneral-what are your stats? Do you generally aim for 1,300 calories? |
