Motivation Need a little motivation to get back on track! Apr 14 2009

What I do when I am about to fall of the wagon - or are trying to get back on - is to write everything that I eat down dilligently and keep to a set calorie amount for at least 4 days (more if you need) and weigh myself every morning. In that time you should see that eating the right amount really does have a good effect on the scale. I find that it is just getting to see that initial result that is the hardest time. And it is so easy to not account for everything!

Once you see results on the scale it should remind you of how good it is to see good numbers on the scale.

I feel the same way about running. Not impressive to some but I have run 1/2 marathons and some other races but it just lost importance to me at a time... I don't think I could have gotten married if I wasn't running at the time. It gave me time to relax and think things through. I would have been so stressed about the whole arranging a wedding in a different country (we married in sydney australia and live on Long Island).

So since I ran I have put on about 60lbs. I was always using my weight as an excuse not to run - but then I thought - if the "Biggest Losers" run then I certainly can too. So I started a running plan to get running again. I am 3 weeks in - still run/walk combination but I am loving it. I have also lost 11lbs in 3 weeks so I am super on track.

I am just dying to get on the road again once I get my stamina up... I love it so much and am so disappointed that I stopped. It made me feel so strong and although my body was not perfect I was proud of what I was able to achieve...

So - stick with it and let us know how you go...

Hi - I know it is far away - but what the heck - this is the first big trip make the most of it - AUSTRALIA. Flights there are insanely cheap at the moment. You could fly there for less than $800 each which is fantastic. You would need at least 2 weeks to really see it and I know you were only thinking of a shorter stay but with prices like this....

Australia is absolutely beautiful. I have never met anyone who has been there who doesn't love it. The beaches are fabulous and the lifestyle is laid back and you will definitely relax. Sydney would be the best stop for a shorter trip - like only 2 weeks.

I am from Australia but live in New York now. I am amazed at how many people I meet want to go there but never actually do it. You only live once.
