Original Post by folkharpist: Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in body cells of humans and animals. It comes from foods such as milk, meat and eggs. Theres about 212 mg of cholesterol in one egg and that is about 71 % I eat two eggs a day. That puts me over 140%. I almost always get an A or A-. I have gotten a B+ twice though. Those two days I had a cheesy potato casserole for dinner. I don't think the grade has anything to do with cholesterol or sodium because both are always over 100% for me...I love my eggs and salt. If I have a B by the end of lunch, I will eat a large bowl of spinach with dinner and that usually brings the grade back up to an A. |

Happens to me in the summer alot. I use talc powder when it gets warm out. My brother-in-law is a big guy and he uses some sort of a lubricant for his inner thighs. He said they would be raw after jogging for a bit. Here is a site that shows some ideas and products to buy: http://www.thewalkingsite.com/blisters.html I might try the lip balm type lubricant this summer. And like echoroc said, bike shorts under your regular shorts would work. Thats what I did when I was stationed in Mississippi...its crazy humid there. |

Everything I love... The not so good for me stuff...salt, chocolate, alcohol, anything from Mc D's and Taco Bell, ice cream, mozzarella, cake, brownies, ranch, hot dogs, crossaints, butter, potato chips, mayonnaise, coffee, sour cream, corned beef and eggs. And the healthier addictions...granola bars, peaches, avocado, nuts and dried fruit. And my all time biggest food addiction: Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies!!! When I was younger, I was known to eat about 20 cookies in a day when somebody would bake them. |

Original Post by alibsam: Sadly, I wouldn't fully trust the vet's opinion. Some vets promote Science Diet which is a horrible dog food. They don't necesarily teach dog nutrition in vet school. It would be best to speak with an animal nutritionist. I don't know about Hill's Science Diet but I've used Eukanuba before. After reading the ingredients, I won't be buying that ever again. You can see the ingredients in Eukanuba here: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_revie ws/showproduct.php?product=107&cat=all I have been using Canidae for a few years now. Their ingredients are here: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_revie ws/showproduct.php?product=2034&cat=3 Eukanuba has corn as one of the main ingredients which is used as a filler and it is hard for the dog to digest. It also has animal by-products...I won't go into detail there, it's disgusting. It has beet pulp that can stress the kidney and liver. Canidae doesn't use corn as filler and does not contain any by-products. It costs more than Eukanuba but like most things you get what you pay for. With Canidae, you feed much less since there are no fillers. And if I can remember correctly, Eukanuba along with many other brands made by Menu Foods was recalled a few years back after dogs started to die from kidney failure. There food may be ok now but I wouldn't want to take a chance. Eukanuba recall here: |

| Weight Loss | Why does my burn meter keep decreasing? | Mar 23 2009 23:28 (UTC) |
1 |
My burn meter was at 1880 when I weighed 170.9, but after losing weight down to 165.5 the burn meter dropped to 1850. So I have to eat about 30 calories less per day or 210 a week to maintain 165.5. My goal weight is 145 lbs. When I reach my goal weight, the burn meter will drop down again to a lower number in the 1700's. By weighing less, you will burn less at a maintenance level. So with that, I can't eat as much as I used to when I weighed 170 and if I do then I just do even more excercises than I already do. I love to eat too and at first I was sad to know that I will need to eat less when I do get to my goal weight in order to maintain. I've changed what I eat to healthier foods though and that includes alot of vegetables. I noticed that I am less hungry now after eating all the vegetables when before I would be hungry still after eating junk food. I know that I will need to increase my excercise time if I choose to continue eating the way I do. I am a bit lazy right now (its still cold outside) so I will just have to eat less. |

| Weight Loss | How often do you weigh yourself? | Mar 23 2009 04:12 (UTC) |

Original Post by mkahn12:
Really? 8 times??? I step on the scale every Saturday morning and write it down. I agree with sweetandbrown: "I know that weight fluctuates so a higher number than expected doesn't freak me out and a much lower than expected number doesn't elate me." Years ago, I used to weigh myself daily. The numbers would fluctuate so much that I would get a little irritated. The once a week thing works for me. If you don't stress over the numbers too much, then every day would also work. More than once a day is a bit excessive I think. |

| Weight Loss | Is my scale broken? | Mar 19 2009 00:11 (UTC) |
|
I weigh myself only once a week. I make sure to weigh myself around the same time in the morning before breakfast and after using the bathroom. When I was younger, I used to weigh myself before in the morning and then at night. I had gained about 4 pounds throughout the day. This was mostly water weight. When you wake up in the morning, you are usually lighter because you have not had water in a while and you lose water through breathing. Some folks like to weigh themselves daily. I prefer not to do that because the scale would read like a rollercoaster from water weight and I would get confused. Reading the scale after a week though would kind of average things out. Even if you excercise alot during the day, you are not going to lose a pound of body fat...unless I guess you burned 3500 calories in addition to all the food you ate during the day. Weight loss is progressive, it usually won't happen overnight. Check in a week and you should see a loss of 1-2 pounds with proper eating and excercise. Anything more than that, and it is probably water weight. But who knows, mabye the scale is broken... |

| Weight Loss | are you obsessed with weighing everything you eat? | Mar 17 2009 03:36 (UTC) |
|
When you measure out the 1/2 cup of ice cream or anything else, make sure the food is flush with the top edge of the cup and not over. Food over the edge can make a 1/2 cup turn into a 2/3 cup. If your ice cream is 200 calories per 1/2 cup serving, not keeping it flush can add another 50-80 calories...if not more. I've seen a few folks "measure" out their food and there will be a large heap of food mounded above the measuring cup. (Like a tablespoon of margarine with as much in the little cup as on top) I guess their idea of measuring is however much they can fit into the cup without it falling out. If you are counting calories, use a scale. This way you know you are not adding in extra calories. |

You certainly seem to be doing a good amount of excercise. What is your daily caloric intake? Do you input your calories on CC? I would keep up with the excercise and take a good look at what is eaten each day. Frequent, small meals each day may boost the metabolism. And remember to drink plenty of water. Do not take anymore of the pills...they are no good. Many weight-loss pills on the market today do much more harm to your body than good. Good luck to you. |

Original Post by poohrona: How does that work. If someone is 170 lbs x 7, then the calorie intake should be 1190. Is that just for people on the show or is that recommended for anyone? And also, is that 1190 calories a day in addition to many hours of workouts a day? |
