Me exactly, honestly, and stemming from the same situation, though I didn't lose as much as you. So I can feel your unhappiness and obsession. I know what it's like, getting frustrated because you think about food so much, when you know it's not important or normal. Restricting more and more to cope though knowing it's not healthy. I really hope you can get help from this. |

Cool, thanks for the opinions. I'm 53 kg (117 lbs) right now, but I see there's a large scope! |

I've become so afriad of food that I know I wouldn't be able to eat, even then. If I had to think back on what I would have requested when I was semi-normal... maybe a peach? A messy peach. :) I'll have to remember that. |

It's an odd thing about 1st world society that we can be so proud of uncovering bones for aesthetic appeal when people are struggling to eat. |

I really like Aerin and Avery(!), so don't take them, they're mine for when I grow up if I adopt! :0 Just kidding, of course. I could only think of Gabrielle/Gabriel. :) |

gg80- whoops, meant carbs, in the form of rice, for Asian countries. And white rice is a bad carb, too. The Italians also eat bad/white carbs. I wouldn't do this, myself, but it does seem to work for them- just odd. I'd never thought anything of the powers controlling what goes in the food pyramid before this discussion, it's certainly an interesting point. Thing is, now I'm more paranoid than ever. I've always gone by those guidelines religiously every day, without question (stupid because I don't handle anything else this way). Is there any pyramid (or whatever, guide) that you would trust and recommend, based on scientific research? Just to satisfy my need for guidelines. |

Original Post by gg80: :( All this stuff makes me... itch. I keep hearing everything is bad for me, and most days I just end up eating green vegetables. I've had days of under 100 calories... OFTEN... because everything is bad, now! I don't even have an appetite anymore, and I spend most of the day planning my food. And that's even knowing (in the back of my mind) the whole thing is really stupid and that I shouldn't care. Frankly, I don't even care if I die early from eating something with wheat in it or any other of these that are 'dangerous', at least I'll finally be free from obsessively thinking about it. I don't mean to be rude, really, but if wheat is highly toxic then why are the Asians and Italians among the longest living/healthiest in the world, with a diet mainly based on it? |

Original Post by calisue: This is actually what I was referring to... I wasn't aware there was more than one called the same thing. This one actually seems to recommend much less bread (and specifically wholegrain) than the traditional ones, and I was thinking of reducing my intake. I never eat refined carbohydrates or sugar but the amount of wholegrains recommended was also ridiculous. I eat much more vegetables than bread.
Anyway, I was looking into the benefits of a diet high in 'good' fats. As something the fad diets haven't touched, to my knowledge ("eww, fat is fattening, duh") I'm fairly sure it would work. |

I agree, the only differences I've noted are the higher suggestions for oils, which I think is refreshing and the lack of a serving guide which should be liberatng but... I'm pretty strict. That's how I work. |

Actually, I think it may be being fazed out. The thing is, the company sort of sponsors us, to my understanding. However, if an animal doesn't react well to the food there are a wealth of other things that can be offered as they are donated. |

That's what we use at the RSPCA where I volunteer- I'll bet no-one was aware it was 1 star rated. I really don't expect that anyone would pay for that though, a dog can be fed leftovers if nothing else and most seem to prefer that to dog food. |

I've been informed my eating is disordered, but I feel like because I'm not at a low weight, I wouldn't be taken seriously. People obviously don't know, since they've made pretty tactless remarks around me. |

I had some of those dreams as well, but I don't remember doing so this time. I don't think the, uh, act, even was what woke me up. I can only hope it won't happen again. I guess it's possible that people just don't talk about it. |

Thank you for your kind words, I'll check it out. It happened to me a lot when I was a kid and I had a lot of UTIs, for which I was constantly taking antibiotics. Bit silly of me to not see the connection, but I'd always thought I was lazy or stupid and couldn't get to the toilet on time. Yes, recently I've needed to pee more urgently, and I'm afraid I've made it worse by holding it in so often (or trying to...) You're all lovely, and made me feel a lot better. <3 |

It wasn't only the incident, it really does make me sick. Lactose intolerance is in the family. Is there another kind of 'milk', apart from cow's, with a comparible amount of protein? I agree, everything in balance. |

Thank you all for very interesting responses. I'd definitely like to try other types of 'milk' too. Particularly almond. Sounds yummy. Don't want to have a soy overdose. Just to be sure- should I count soy milk as a legume, or what? |

Oops, I meant legume. Where'd I get 'grain' from? Mine is fortified, I think, but I'm not sure it'd add up to much.
And for the record I just had a FML moment... I had been logging as generic soymilk with a bit over 130 cals for 250mls, but I checked the carton and mine is only 90 cals for the same amount. I've been that much under for ages, because I was too stupid to check. |
