ok group...how's this for good news; even with my "fall" off the wagon and eating 4 snickers bars in 2 days...I still lost 2 more lbs!!!! I joined this website after already losing 4 lbs so it won't show it all on here but in the 7 weeks my ship was underway I lost 8 lbs..17 more to go! Memetaylor ~ welcome, how's things on your side of the world? Smashley ~ I ran today for the first time in 2 weeks and it was awesome! I parked really far away from work, put on my biggest loser remix music and just took off. My legs are sore, my arms ache and I couldn't be happier. I have small weights at home I'm going to start introducing into my workouts today after work. ^5 for us! I'll look up the cookbook website today when I get home, sounds like a good site. Happy workouts! |

Isn't it great when exercise doesn't sound like working out :D How's your workouts going?? |

minutexwatlz ~ I used to drink a ton of Crystal Light and I gained 8 lbs over a 3 month period. Once I read an article about it causing weight gain I stopped drinking it and lost 6 lbs in a month. I didn't do anything different but switch to drinking plain water. Hope my 2 cents help you out! |

MW09 ~ The moving tables was just the beginning of the setup process, then we had the ice sculpture, 2 cakes (6 layers each) and of course all the fried shrimp and other fried foods for the party. I managed to nibble on very few of the food there, had maybe 10 shrimp but not much beyond that. The seas are very very rough today and all day yesterday and since I get seasick I'm not going to the gym until we hit port again in a few days. Hope everyone else is doing way better with working out..I'm just trying to stay at my desk without rolling away! edit: I had a really bad day yesterday and ate 3 snickers bars :( the seas were really rough and i needed some comfort food *sigh* thank goodness we pull in tomorrow so i can get back on track! |

lune_ash ~ I'm actually stationed in Japan but my ship is out to sea and we've stopped over in Korea for a few days. My bf lives in Denver but I'll see him in 8 days when we meet in Hawaii for a weeklong vacation. I'm really looking forward to it. Last night was cool, had a reception for the officers for 3 hours..lots of walking and stairs, great workout! How's everyone else doing? |

MW ~ today is day 11 of my food journal and before I found CC I was watching what I ate (not that hard on a Navy ship) and I dropped 5 lbs. In the 11 days of being on this website and using the food/activity journal I've dropped 1 lb so far. Yesterday was my first full day back in the gym since my ship is inport for a few days and I'm hoping that I can still get to the gym when we get underway again. I also do not call it my diet...it's my lifestyle change. I eat more salads now and watch my portions as well. My multi-vitamin and calcium chews are the first things I eat in the mornings to make sure things are well balanced and the day starts off good. I'm off to set up some reception for the big-wigs this afternoon..moving tables is a kind of workout, right? |

| militarywife ~ welcome! it's tough having someone who doesn't gain an ounce...believe me I think most, if not all, of us here feel your pain! Sounds like you're close to your goal and I have heard the last 10 lbs are the toughest. Another forum I read said that walking around with your abs flexed helps with that. I'm certainly going to use it when I get down to 155! How's your workouts going?? | |||

jiggle ~ congrats on your weight loss so far! I've heard that guys have a better time of it and the guy in my office seems to have it easier than I do. He just started working out last week and I think he's down 5 lbs already to my 2 lbs. smashley ~ I don't have any off limits food, just limit the amount of "good" food that I eat. Not that it's hard being on a Navy ship since they tend to overcook the veggies and undercook the chicken..yuck! I bring my own food when we go underway but I'm running out since we've been gone for almost 2 months now. Today was my first really good day in the gym, I went twice and managed to row for 35 min after lunch then the treadmill for 45 min after dinner. It was awesome! Tomorrow I'm going to try light weights. al ~ I wish I lived in the same country!! 5 more months and then I'll be moving back to the states...so excited!! |

well, I'm not lucky enough to live with my bf..in fact we're 8000 miles apart but it's tough going to see him and feeling big next to him. He thinks I look amazing but I need to get my weight and metabolism under control. Hope you don't mind posting jiggle because I really need the moral support!!! |

alright al..so I'm 28 yrs old and I'm overweight. it sucks to say that out loud but it's true. I've been in the Navy for 9 years and for every 3 I've gained 10 lbs. I need help to lose it all again and feel better about myself. All the women in my family have been overweight and even though I know I can do it but it's tough without a "buddy" to be there with me. I really just need dedicated people that will post daily and we can do like a check and balance type thing with each other so we all stay on track. You know what I mean? |

| I think I just found the perfect group! I'm 5'6", 175lbs and I'm starting out trying to get to 155 but 145 is where I'd really like to be. My bf is 5'11" at 135lbs with a hyper metabolism...makes me so angry sometimes! lol..good thing I love the guy huh. I've joined 2 groups in the past week but everyone seems to stop posting after a day or two. Add me if you like, I just want to find a good group with similar goals that won't bail after a few days. | |||

| I know exactly what you mean about making excuses to not work out. I have the same problem but my excuses are more like "the ship is rocking too bad and I don't want to get on the treadmill" I'm in the Navy and I get seasick when the ship rocks and I try to workout. I'm not sure what your motivation was to lose weight but heres mine, hope it helps you out!
1. My career depends on my weight being below 163 lbs and 33% bodyfat. I could get kicked out of the Navy if I don't get my weight under control. 2. I want to feel good about myself and how I look. Until I was 18 I was always told I was fat by a family member and it's time that I stop listening to those memories in my head. 3. To be a better mom to the kids I hope to have someday. I want to be an active mom and be able to keep up with my kids and set a good example for them. Let me know if you need/want a motivational buddy...you can never have too many! ~Autumn~ |

I found us on the 2nd page..guess I've not been posting lately. It's been a rough couple of days..no gym and the ship got underway yesterday and I've not made it to the gym. I was really hoping we'd stay inport while I have my awesome schedule of 16 hours off a day but I knew it was too good to be true. At least I'm sticking to the diet, just not able to get to the gym. I'm hoping we don't slow down too much tonight but for some reason at night we either go really slow or stop altogether and the ship just rocks and rocks. I wish I weren't one of those people that get seasick!! Oh well.
Steph ~ Hope your week isn't starting off too stressful and you can squeeze in some gym time. No such luck on my 2 hrs a day gym time, maybe tonight or tomorrow if I'm lucky. I think we pull back into port soon and I'll have at least 3 days that I can do my 2 hours per day. Once I'm back in Japan then I have 4 days until my trip to Hawaii with the bf...I can only hope he notices the difference. 135vyjuly ~ I try to get on here at least once a day to track my food and post in here, the past 2 days I've been slacking but I look forward to motivating you..and getting motivated in return. My goal is 155 by July so 19 lbs in 15 1/2 weeks. I know we can do it! Let me know how often you log on here and I'll try to get on the same. It's tough with everyone's schedule's being different but I'll do my best! Keep us posted on your progress alright? ~Autumn~ |

Hey Ladies!! So we're still inport Busan Korea but I'm not having to work through the weekend. Finally done with the 8 on 8 off work schedule...for now. Next week it's 8 on 16 off and we'll still be inport so to the gym I will go for at least 2 hours a day! Underway is not condusive to my workout plan in the least. The rocking of the ship is enough to make my head spin without adding in the monotony of a treadmill or elliptical..whew! Emmalou ~ welcome to the group! Steph ~ how's the foot feeling? I'm headed to the gym this afternoon so I'll check back in a few hours. ~Autumn~ P.S 10pm post ...I was a bad bad girl and didn't go to the gym today. Shame on me cause i went shopping for shoes instead...lol At least my walking counted on my activity log. Tomorrow i'm headed up to Osan Air Force base for the rest of my souvenier shopping. Oh yeah..and I had Outback french fries (didn't eat them all) and ribs..took a doggy bag with 75% of them though so it wasn't TOO bad of a "cheat day" for me. I did stick to water, no soda for me. *sigh* oh well..guess I'll have to be better next week for sure. |

woohoo!! everyone's doing so great!!
Carly ~ I've been in the Navy for 9 years now as a Fire Controlman...for those of you that haven't been in the Navy I shoot missiles..not fight fires. I'm a Tomahawk Techinicion, have been for the past 3 years which is the most powerful missile we have. It's an awesome job and I really love it. The people are awful but with my friends let me gripe to them when it gets too bad and it makes my day's easier to deal with. Hard to believe that I've gained 10 lbs for every 3 years in but I'm GOING to change all that in these next 4-6 months. Nuttellabella ~ I hear ya on the excuses. I've done all that before and I'm so very tired of doing that to myself. No one else to blame but me. I started out slow on the treadmill but have every intention of getting back down to the gym after this watch at 10 am to keep on truckin'. The Biggest Loser is my inspiration and I love the tips from Bob and Jillian..not the cheesy *hold up extra sugar free gum and give a commercial* tips but the ones where they show you exercises to do at home or during commercial breaks. I have to watch everything on Itunes so I don't get commercial breaks so I just sit on the couch and watch em while snuggled under my blankets. :D I know...we're supposed to be up and moving not sitting on our butts watching tv. Once I get back inport I'm going to implement that strategy into my daily routine. Steph ~ how'd classes go? did you get to the gym like you wanted? you can do it!! As for my goal for next week...writing out goals sounds like a good plan. Think I'll do that this weekend though since I'll have sat/sun off before getting back into the 8 on 8 off routine. Keep moving forward ladies! Don't worry about the past because we can't fix it anyways. ~Autumn~ |

Hey Steph..no worries if you don't make it out of bed in the morning. Just go after class instead :D I just logged all my food for last night when I had to work and today and boy do my first 3 days look like a yo-yo! Low the first day, super high the second..kinda low today. *whew* this is harder than I thought it would be! Working 8 on 8 off some days I guess I tend to hit more meals than others..bummer for me. On a good note I weighed myself today and I'm down 1 lb. I told myself I'd only weigh in once a week but I couldn't help it when all the guys used the scale I just had to get on too. Talk about peer pressure! lol..they're good sports about it though. Think I'll be waiting more than 2 days between weigh-ins from now on so I don't get discouraged. Leronia..Carly...Nuttellabella?? where ya'll at?!? Hope everyone is sticking to their commitments whether it be diet/exercise or both. Chime in soon! ~Autumn~ |

Good morning everybuggy!!!! (it's 9:50 am here in japan) and I'm just now getting to work..again. Last night my workout was just what you'd expect from a first day workout, hard as heck and I'm sore in many many places today. A good sore though cuz now I feel more than ready to go again today after I get off watch. Last night it was 2 am when I got off work and starting out a bit slow on the treadmill I felt bolder as I got on it and increased the incline to 10 and the speed up to 2.5 moving the speed every 5 min 1 notch. Got up to a 2.9 then decreased the incline to 3.0 with a speed of 3.3. Tonight I'm going to get on the rowing machine..work out the back....and then back on the treadmill for some jogging..YIKES!! Time for me to get to work but I'll post some more in a few hours. How's everyone else doing workout-wise? Carly..welcome aboard!! ~Autumn~ |

Hey Nutellabella..welcome to the group!! We're all here for motivation to lose weight and let me tell you...I ain't going no where! I've got 20+ lbs to lose and it's gonna take me 6-9 months to do it. Day one is always scary but you get past it. There's a saying the Navy SEALs use "the only easy day was yesterday" I'm putting it up for a vote for our groups motto because it fits us so well. Steph started this forum yesterday and it's slowly picking up people. Today is my "true day one" as well and in less than 3 hours I'll be going to the gym for the first time (again) in 3 weeks. My weekly goal is 2 lbs...what's yours? As the Robinson's say "keep moving forward" (I'm all full of quotes at 11 pm aren't I) and post away. You can do it!!! Autumn |

Leronia..I can't speak for steph since this is her forum but I think the more the merrier! My friend Cece had a baby last year, he's almost 1, so she has a little more weight to lose than I do but we're gonna stick it our regardless. I figure if we can both lose 10 lbs then another 5, so on and so forth, we'll keep each other motivated to keep going no matter how far apart we are. College was tough for me, I gained my first 10 lbs there after high school. Since joining the Navy I've gained another 30 over the past 9 years. I'm hoping to take off 20 and be happy with myself but we'll see. I may go for the full 30 lbs but for the short term I'm gonna kick those 20 to the curb! My schedule is beyond crazy right now, I'm 8 hours on and 8 hours off..so sleep is usually all I want to do. I'm going to fit the gym into my schedule at least once a day for now until my working hours get better next week. I'll have a regular work day then of only 8 hours so I'll have plenty of free time to spend at the gym. Keep it up and make sure you make short term goals instead of just focusing on the long term. (learned that from The Biggest Loser) My weekly goal is 2 lbs because I know that TBL is a tv show and those people spend 8 hours a day in the gym. I don't have that kind of time so if I get 8 hours a week I can only see so much results. Another thing I learned from the show is to ensure you're eating ENOUGH calories. Starving ourselves does more harm than good so keep a food journal if you can. Keep us posted on your progress so we can pass out high fives for our success. You can do it!!! |

I'm in the Navy and stationed out here in Japan. Only have 4 months left on my tour then I'm getting stationed in Illinois for 3 years. I'm so ready to get back to the states and near my family. Today is the start of the "new" me. I just got my left arm out of a splint, messed up the tendons in my wrist from spin class 3 wks ago so motivation starts today! It's nearly 8 am here in Korea..my ship is inport here for a few weeks and I get off work in 2 hours. What's your calorie intake and workouts been like so far? or are you just starting out like me? according to this website I need to ingest 1400 calories to lose my 18 lbs or so by July 1st. |
