Hmm.. I alwaysssss listen to music, but a lot of the times when i'm running, I half close my eyes, take deep slow breaths through my nose, and I just take in how nice it is outside. It goes by super fast when I'm outdoors. Treadmill is hell for me :| Focusing on a spot far away also helps for me :) |

Yeah I'm still trying to get my metabolism completely in order since I used to maintain on 1000 calories :S ( Can't imagine living off that now :P) I got my mainteniance successfully to 1600 calories but that was with exercise about 200 calories a day and I'm trying to get it up to 2000. right now i'm doing 1800 calories a day plus 400 calories burned on eliptical every OTHER day. But i'm gaining weight :( so I'm gonan try 2000 calories with 400 burned everyday. I'm basically at school then walk my dog for like 15 mins, then go to the gym (on gym days) and then just sit around and do hmwk... waht do you think would be the amount i *should* be able to maintain on if my metabolsim was in working order? |

Hmmmm well it says "is your child active"? and then the choices were rarely, less than an hour, about an hour, more than an hour. Sorry :S is that the same as you mean? |

Hey guys :) I'm in the same situation actually exept I'm 15.. but anyways.. when I was in gr 7 I was kinda chubby (5'1.5 - 123 lbs) but I ate a healthy amount. But one day I decided I was too "fat" so I cut my intake to only 1200 calories (bad idea) and became around 105 lbs. After I grew to around 5'3 by gr 8 but became 110lbs, so i decided to cut back to 1000 and I became 106 ish again. But my metabolism was so messed up that I maintained on that little. So I basically kept those stats from gr 8 till december of gr 10, then I suddenly gained to 123 lbs but I still maintained on 1000 calories (with jogging almost everyday..) so thats when I did some research and took a few months to get the courage to up my calories to 1600 calories. I gained ~4 lbs but they went away within 3 weeks. Now I'm trying to get it up to 1800 calories, then 2000 calories. I go to the gym every other day (burning 400-500 calories). You probably didn't need to know my background story lol, but I thought it might help :) |

I'm 5'4 and i'm a size 2 (in american eagle/hollister/abercrombie type stores.. if its guess then I'm a bit larger) And i'm between 120-123 lbs. I have a small frame and I'm pretty muscular.. so I guess I can weigh more and be a size 2? |

I'm 5'4 and a bit.. and I was happiest about my weight hwen i was around 108-110 lbs, but i have an a pretty small frame (i can wrap over my wrist with my pinky and thumb and still overlap, and i have small hands :P). So I guess medium frame on 5'2 would look about the same, so I think 110 would be good :) |

Heyy! I have exams right now, so the last thing im thinking of is preparing my meal plans accoridng to p90x :P haha. So basically, I've been doing random videos here and there and just been doing my regular jogging/gym trips. I'm starting on the monday full on with meal plans :) Tell me how its going! |

I read the entire thing :) I've been in a similar situation. Not the social life part but everyone at school thought my life was perfect cuz my avg was 95%, i had a lot of friends and i was one of the few with good grades that was accepted into the 'group', and my parents got me what i wanted. But it wasn't how it seemed because at home, I got in fights with my parents every day, we didn't understand each other, and the fights weren't just little arguements, they pretty much exploded and i would cry myself to sleep, done things to myself that i wasn't proud of. The next day, put on my makeup, wear a smile, and pretend nothing was wrong. That went on for 2 years. (around 13)
So just to let you know, things DO get better :). I'm 15 now, just a bit older, but my relationship with my parents completely healed. We reached a trusting point where they understand my wants and realize that I will put my future ahead of me at all times and will make smart decisions. And because thye trust me, I am more responsible and my grades are just as high. Now the surface is me and the great life is what I actually live.

Thanks for the input, I think I'm going to buy the dumbbell sets with 2,5,8,10 :) and I am actually in the process of ordering the p90x and then chinup bar! haha, I'm so excited to start! I still need to get resistance bands though. I have a question though, I don't really care about my weight, but I want to lose fat and gain tone but not bulk. Will p90x make me bulky?:S
EDT: I read that you can replace dumbbells with resistance bands? Do you think I could? They're a TON cheaper :P |

Don't worry its not a big deal. We all do it and just get back to normal tomorrow and carry on. Don't weigh yourself until next week though. Btw, I'm not trying to be unhelpful but each slice of pizza (regular sized) is usually 750 cals.. **not trying to make you feel bad, this is just so you don't underestimate calories in the future, because that makes weight loss REALLY hard*** |

Please don't do it... I've been there and I'm still trying to fix my metabolism after ruining it. Here's what happened: I'm 5'3, I ate 1000 cals a day, and I exercise 6 days a week (5km+weight training OR 1.5 hrs soccer) since 2 years ago (13 years old) and went from 123 lbs to 108 lbs, I maintained this until recently (about 5 months ago) I suddenly gained back to 123 lbs without any changes to my diet. So then I was at 123lbs, only 1000 cals, mad exercising, and absolutely no loss! I messed up my body pretty badly. For the past 3 weeks I've upped my calories to ~1500 cals to 1600 cals to try and fix my metabolism. Surprisingly I haven't gained anything at all, at first I gained 3 lbs but it was gone within a week. Soon when I know for sure that my weight stabalize, I am upping it to 1800 and then 2200. I'm not sure if I didn't gain because soccer season started or not, but I don't think a practice/game is THAT much more exercise than 5km+weight training anyways, learn from the mistakes of others, please don't do it. |

I plan on upping my calories by 300 cals every time my body stablizes and starts to loose again, so eventually I will get to above 2000 :) because for now, the 300 extra that I'm eating technically IS a surplus right? |

I used to be a lot more lean though. I kjonw the weight I put back isn't all good weight and a lot is fat. My older pair of jeans are too tight, and when I sit down but stoache isn't flat anymore. And my mother obviously doesn't think I look good at 123 because she keeps commenting on my gain -___- |

I have a similar problem and I'm still confused on the answer. I'm 15, 5'3, and I'm 123 lbs. when I was 13, I was 5'2 and 123lbs thats when I started dieting. I started eating 1000-1200 cals plus some jogging and I lose to about 108-110.I maintained that until 3 months ago and I suddenly gained to back to 123 and now.. I'm maintaining on 1200 calories, (up to) 123 lbs with 5km+weight training daily or soccer (competitive). My metabolism is soo bad! I just recently upped my calories to 1800 (for a week). I'm hoping this will get me out, but I'm so scared of gaining weight (continuously) from eating 1800 and never being able to loose it.. :S sorry i have no answer, but maybe ithelps to know that i'm in the same place as you :| |

yeah I run 5km + weight train, OR, I have soccer pratcie/games, and I'm active like this 6-7 days a week. And I burn ~2500 or more a day and I eat only 1200. I thought I was being really healthy but I really wasn't so I'm trying to fix that. I wasn't losing anything, so thats when i realized how messed up my metabolism was! |

i know i need 2000 cals .. -.- lol but I can't just jump to that or I'm gonna get unbelievably fat. So I was gonna start by jumping my metabolism on the 2000 days and then close the gaps between the days. Okay what about this : Day 1: 2000 Day 2: 1000 Day 3: 1000 Day 4: 1800 Day 5: 1000 Day 6: 1200 Day 7: 1000
AVG's to ~1300 cals a day, which is a bit more than I'm having

btw, i just read through all the posts. tehe you guys are all such cuties :) thejoyfulloser - WOOT SOCCER! :) I'm on my schools soccer team too!
Oh and i forgot to tell you guys about my exercise routines. I'm sorta new to CC and i didn't realize how close-knit these things are so my turn to share :) I usually run 5km OR do 30 mins eliptacle + weight training everyday that I don't have soccer :) Recently I started rollerblading too to make that butt of mine more bubbly :P |

I just thought of a brilliant idea.. only I'm not sure if its brilliant or not. What if I eat 2000 calories for 2 days, then drink water for 1 day, etc etc. that way I can empty out the glycogen stores but keep my metabolism spiked? do you think that would work? :D
EDT: this is not pro-ana behaviour, I'm completely against it. Thats WHY I'm trying to increase my calories (before damage is done) even though my metabolism sucks now. |

I've always had curves though. My waist used to be 25 and my hips 36, now my waist is 27............ :S I know people say its 'good weight' but I can assure you that its not. I used to have no love handels at all, and now i do (a bit), and my stomache has more fat on it and I don't understand how I can have 3/4" of fat on the bottom of my stomache if I run so much.. :S |
