| Weight Loss | Is it normal for the appetite to decrease? | Oct 08 2009 18:15 (UTC) |

if you were constantly eating a large volume of food, then your stomach would've stretched to accomodate that food. when you start to eat smaller portions, your stomach shrinks, so it doesnt need as much to fill it and you dont feel as hungry as you would've done before. |

i would say the opposite, as a day starts when you get up and ends when you go to bed. just start counting afresh when you wake up the next morning. |

| Motivation | Just pigged out the past two days...need help. | Mar 22 2009 20:46 (UTC) |

i have exactly the same problem as you, and i know how hard it can be when you start the day off on a binge, as you then loose motivation for the rest of the day. Dont go overboard on trying to work off the excess calories you consumed the past two days, start afresh. also, if you've only eaten one pancake thats not too bad, might be more calories than you would usually have for breakfast but its not an excessive amount of food. I dont know what your schedule is like for today but you could try taking a nap, then when you wake up just pretend that its a new day and your going to do it all without overeating. To get back into the swing of things i reckon the best thing is to go for a run/swim/cycle/walk or something like that even if you really really really dont want to; afterwards you'll feel much better and a healthy lunch and dinner should even out the rest and get you back on track. hope this helps a little |

urgh urgh urgh day 14 and i was doing so well and i cracked and binged. the worst thing is that ive done it twice today and its only 1.30.... started with a croissant which led to lots of bread, urgh. finally stopped and reassured myself that though it was bad it wasnt too bad as it was early morning and i had the rest of the day to work it off or whatever. but it put me in a bad mood. and then just now i found and ate a bag of m&m's and a kit kat, which was just unnecessary and has made me feel fat all over again. i just hope i can through the rest of the day without stuffing my fat face, but its the whole "well ive ruined it now so i might as well just continue bingeing for the whole day" mentality.
ARGH!!

| Weight Loss | HELP IM RUINING MY BODY, binge eating etc. eating disorders | Mar 19 2009 07:13 (UTC) |
12 |
I was in a similar situation but got out of it by changing my diet, eating a variety of differnt things and not restricting anything except the things that would usually lead me to binge in the first place, most of which i cut out and then slowly re-introduced when i felt i had the will-power to not binge. control portion sizes and eat reguarlly, never skip meals! thats my advice, hope it helps |

brilliant, thanks for the advice, how long did it take you to come out of starvation mode and how quickly did you see the results? I know its different for everybody but it would be good to know what to expect...thanks |

| Weight Loss | 4 packs instants oats or 1 big mac? | Mar 18 2009 22:43 (UTC) |

in my opinion it was much better to eat the oats; though they may have the same amount of calories im sure a big mac has more fat and its so much worse for your body, i dont really think of fast food as actual food as it doesnt really contain much goodness...be careful not to eat too many more oats though; a lot of my overeating has started on healthy food when i've thought "it's good for me, i can eat as much as i like..." dont fall into the trap! hope this helps |

| Motivation | Afternoon Munchies! | Mar 18 2009 20:22 (UTC) |

yup i often get this just as i come home from school or in the afternoon at work waiting for the day to end...at the moment my favourite thing to do is drink tea and lots of it, or i make lunch, normally a sandwich and eat half of it at lunch and half mid afternoon, that way you get the same amount of calories as you would from lunch but spread them out to keep hunger at bay. another thing you could do is keep "desert" from your lunch until the mid-afternoon and have fruit or yogurt or whatever at that time when you get the munchies. hope this helps

thanks everyone for your warm welcomes and support and yes I have done it! I've gone a week without bingeing, overeating, starving, fasting...the works and i've lost 2.5 lbs (way more than i was expecting...) and feel a whole lot better both mentally and physically. I agree with what everone has said about eating more and sensibly, it is definately the key. I'm slightly aprehensive about the next week as I reckon it will be a bigger challenge than last but if I survived the first week I can do anything...right? planning to go shopping mid-week as a treat so that should keep me motivated! good luck to everyone else this week xx |

heya, i'm new to calorie count but this post is EXACTLY the sort of motivation i need. I started on a super effort to not binge this week after a weekk of constant eating and feeling crap afterwards and also driven by the fact that it's summer soon and I'd like to be able to wear a bikini! So i've gone five days without a binge but I will admit they've been an easy five days, making all my meals myself and no emotional ups and downs, but I am worried about this weekend as I am likely to be drinking alcohol and I am also going to a brunch on sunday ARGH! I know this has probably been said a thousand times (i havent had time to read all 650 previous messages) but one thing that has really helped me is eating more, not restricting or skipping meals and really eating a variety. I found an old vogue dieting book from the 80's and have been followin "the teenagers diet" which basically (let me know if you want more info) just says that every day you should eat one thing from each of these 5 groups they list (something like carbs, protien, dairy, fruit & veg and fats) Obviously bingeing, especially when emotional, requires a lot more than a diet plan but it has been a good start for me. Sorry for this log essay, but i need some motivation for the weekend! No More Bingeing! Good luck to you all xx |

Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
