You are asking people to decide between anorexia or obesity if they were forced to pick one or the other. By asking that, you are completely missing the point on what anorexia nervosa really is. It is a mental illness. Not a body type. It's awesome that you are a nurse and educated in the field of medicine, but that doesn't automatically make you educated on the topic of eating disorders.

And I'm not being sensitive. Any person who actually understands what anorexia is would agree with me, as quite a few members here have already stated.

Your question would have been better off phrased as:
"If forced to choose, would you rather be underweight or obese."

No one would have a problem with your post then.

As a recovered anorexic, this is really offensive and pretty ignorant.

You can't choose to be anorexic. However you can choose to be obese...although for many people it isn't a choice either, it's an eating disorder as well (BED or COE).

My highest BMI was 27.3 and my lowest BMI was 10.7.

I can tell you firsthand that being emaciated and anorexic was much worse than being overweight.

You can't even begin to imagine the pain. It gives me chills now thinking about it. Being anorexic hurts. Everything in my body hurt. All the time. I was so skeletal I got bruises just from laying in my bed. I couldn't sit for too long because the bones in my butt and hip would start to burn, but I couldn't stand for too long either because I was so weak. I tried to ride a bike, and just from sitting on the seat, I bruised my tail bone so much that I had to sit on one of those donut-pillows for two months. I have permanent heart and liver damage. I will die young. Despite being only 21, I probably can't have kids. I have had irregular periods for the past three years, not to mention the two years where I had no period at all. 

Aside from the physical consequences, there are permanent mental implications too. I sometimes weigh water on my digital food scale. I sometimes weigh packaged energy bars and apple slices and creamer for my coffee. I will never have a normal relationship with food. I will never be okay with my body. I will never be able to weigh myself without freaking out to the point where I want to kill myself. I will never be able to feel upset or stressed without wanting to binge and purge or starve. I can't count calories anymore because it automatically becomes an overwhelming obsession.

My eating disorder will torture and haunt me for the rest of my life.

I think if any person bothered to fully educate themselves on what anorexia nervosa REALLY is, they would much rather be obese.

 

lady, iam not here to debate or promote anorexia over being abese..both of them are nasty and i dont think any mature person would like to have one of them ,but I said what if you forced to have one of them.

 

any by the way all my family members are doctors(yes mum dad 2 sister and brother!!) iam diabetic Nurse , so iam well educated dont worry love , and i dont think posting a question here is a crime, if you are so much sensitive just move on and dont answer.

i always leave 200-300 calories to eat at night .

mushroom with tuna , or loads of fruits..and after that i drink 1-2 cup of green tea..cause green tea block your hunger ! so it really helps me.

i failed omce..and gained all hr weight i lost omce..

in feb 08 i was 77 kg..lost 12 kgs ..then gain it back in dec/jan.

 

feb 09 start again..and now iam 75 kg..13 kgs down ..

 

everyone fail..but we should never give up..

cause same thing happend to me !!!

 

for me, size 16 is too big for me now..so i went to 14..and it fit me very nice...then i went to try size 12 it was not 100% fit..or fit in a little  ugly way so i bought size 14..if i will loose more weight before sep. ill go and buy size 12..

go for the 14..

 

ps: i need to lose 10 kg in sep as well..but i think it will be untill nov. Undecided

ok,i used to be the same..even if i feel full..ill start eating! the problem is  i know i dont want to eat but still i eat like pig and cant stop!

but since feb. i said No to this bad habbit..

my best advice which i tried it and really worked for other people..even my Gp he told me it was very good idea.

simply, make green tea ..after you feel half full ..or even full ..5 min later drink  1 or 2 cup..this 1 or 2 cup will work as a block hunger pills !

 your weight can go up and down ..for 2 kg per day !!

if you weight your self morning time and you were 70 kg , then before you got to bed you weight again you were 73 ! 3 kg !

no way, you could gain 3 kg in the same day..take into your account, the fluid you have drink through the day..the food you have ate ..the fuilds which still in your body..all these are will show on the scale..

 

for me..morning time iam 75..! after the breakfast iam 75.8 kg !

800 gram will be gone soon..plus what you have burned in the gym..

just be calm and be relaxed ..

i think it depend om your goal..

for me, i aim to lose fat..so im on a low carb high in protens

30% carb , 50% proten,20% fat ..

i dont eat more than 200 gram of carb per day..till now ive lost 3 .5stone..since feb.

then I do light weight training .

but when i burn +1500 a day after the cross trainer i do spinning session, (3 times per week) I burn between 400-500 .followed by a tennis game (around 1h:30 min) or squash ..its so fun.

today my breakfast was 9 am cheese with 2 toast wholemeal bread with tea .

at 1 i had cuppa soup(around 100 kcal) , as a snack !

mmm...at 4 oclock i have chicken with littlebit pasta , 2 wholemeal bread .

 

and thats it for today i think no dinner..

at 9 ill ill go and play tennis ..


whatever07 : start reducing it..and read more about junck food..and see how much its bad for you..or make it 1 time per week..but make sure you train after ..

Well..I do running 3-5 times per week for 1 hour ,

30 min jogging(9.0) and hard running for 20 (10.0 - 11.0 ) ,

i burn around 1000 , mmmm..I do cross trainer for 30 min.

 

oh i do classes as well..spinning and boxing 3 times a week , 1-2 times swimming session (45 min). well i do alot of training because i really enjoy it specially running..iam planing to run my first haf marathon in october..so wish me luck !!

 

Iam eating around 1500 kcal per day...losing 2 kg per week..i know it might sound un healthy , but they say we should listen to our body..so i feel great no tirdness or anything..iam doing this since feb.

 

mmmm..ok ok ill stop talking..ill go and make my dinner which is chicken breast and salad ..

please guys, share us your daily work out..!
