RELISH!! that's what I always use, especially when I'm in a hurry, I just throw in a couple of table spoons and I don't even eat it with bread, yum. |

| Weight Loss | Fat arms..? | May 08 2009 07:27 (UTC) |

I know what you mean! After losing nearly 25 pounds, my legs are sticks, I'm happy with my stomach and everything else but I feel like my body hasn't really used up much of the fat on my arms (even though they are smaller). Almost like they haven't caught up yet. I hate bingo wings!! (and muffin tops for that matter) |

| Young Calorie Counters | When do you decide it is enough? | May 07 2009 06:06 (UTC) |

I completely agree with gi-jane. However, it starts to get real fuzzy in cases like mine, I was never overweight to begin with and just wanted to lose weight for vanity reasons. Now I eat healthy and I'm more fit than ever and I've surpassed my goal weights twice. I'm not satisfied with any number, and I don't think there will ever be a day where I look in the mirror and think that there is no work left to be done. So from experience, it's really important to set a limit from the get-go, and to know from the beginning how far is enough, because the lower you get, the more you want to lose. good luck:) |

I definitely know how you feel. I always have this unfortunate way of looking at what I don't have, even though I'm so blessed and lucky in so many ways. I used to be so confident and not think about what other people care. This is the first time weight loss has actually worked for me and that's what makes me strive to go smaller and lighter. Models/celebrities have this unreal factor about them. But when I have friends who are sticks and eat McDonald's at 2am, and then I see them prancing around in bikinis looking flawless, it seems more attainable to me. And even though I have to struggle to get there, looking at my friends makes it look like a possibility. Where as a model's body just seems imaginary to me. If any of that made any sense at all |

I completely agree! I down a large coffee and then hit the elliptical. It wakes me up/gives me energy, plus you can get it done with and out of the way. It can also motivate you to not want to cheat since you've done all that work. And it's not as busy as in the evening! Keep it up:) |

The fruity ones or kiddy ones such as hubba bubba dissolve to a really gross texture after a while. The same happens with the Juicy Fruit long soft chews, so gross. You can't go wrong with excel/dentyne/orbitz, I've never tried stride. But all the mint flavors of any brand are great. Five gum tastes amazing, it's expensive though. congrats and good luck! |

First of all, I didn't bother reading half of these responses because a lot of comments were rude, arrogant and condescending. Second, you are gorgeous and you look great! You obviously know that you are thin. But you know your body the best, you know at which weight you feel most comfortable so you should be free to achieve that, as long as you're staying healthy. I can see where some of the others are coming from, they could've worded it a little nicer or been more supportive. However, you want to be a doctor, I think you know what you are doing. You've been at 108?! Did you have an ED? Well if you're recovering or not, I hope that you know the limit. Definitely get yourself a trustworthy scale so you can have accurate representations of your weight. Also, have you looked into modelling?!?! |

whoops, I spelt frustration wrong. I just find that the people who have never attempted weight loss (the thin ones who don't need to) assume that it's easy. The ones in my experience. The ones who have gained in back are bitter and jealous (the ones you experienced) |

First of all, you look great!! Secondly, I definitely felt the same way when I was your age (still do). I'm also around 120 and I'm 5'5 and I would love to lose 10lbs. However, I'm trying not to obsess. The best thing to do is to remain active (give your body the movement it deserves!) which you are already doing which is great. Keep eating healthy and definitely strength tone and any fat that needs to come off will! Just don't think about it too much or obsess, it will come on its own. It's easy to become obsessed with the scale, but focus more on how you feel. I'm being a total hypocrit here but I'm trying to take my own advice. As for being hungry, drink lots of water! A big glass everytime you begin to feel hungry (it could just be thirst). Spread out your meals throughout the day and eat small portions more often. Snack on fruit, raw veggies, whole wheat crackers etc. I never get hungry if I eat something healthy every 3 hours and lots of water/tea in between! Good luck! :) |

I completely feel your frusteration!! I'm always getting negative comments from people who are thin, don't care or have never endured the weight loss journey. It's an emotional and physical roller coaster that takes a lot of willpower, strength and hard work. If I ever happen to complain about cheating, I always get the standard "Well, why did you eat the ice cream? Couldn't you control yourself?" How about you try depriving yourself for weeks, constantly weighing yourself and always thinking about how you're gonna get rid of all that fat. It all ties in with the same misconception that every non-skinny person is lazy and constantly gorging themselves. I always kick myself for talking about my weight issues with people who have never thought about this process. All I get when I mention that I'd like to get rid of the fat on my stomach is "just do some sit-ups" in a condescending tone. As if it was "just" that easy. And on top of that, are you stupid?! You can't spot-reduce. They (the ignorant ones) just think it's a matter of not being a pig and eating McDonald's 24/7. Rant over :) |

definitely feel the same way as all of you!! when I first told my friends and family I wanted to lose 20lbs, everyone thought that it would be too much, I guess they didn't realize I weighed 140lbs and now that I mention I'd like to weigh 110, people think I need a therapist or something. People who don't go through this emotional/physical struggle don't really understand the way it feels. I still feel fat!! I look in the mirror and although I can see ribs I've never seen before, I'm way more critical than I was before. I never used to look in the mirror so much. When I look at my stomach/legs, they look as big as they were but when I touch my stomach I wonder where the fat has gone. Some days, it's the most amazing feeling, others, I still feel like I've got an eternity to go till I reach my goal weight! The more we lose, the more we want to lose it seems. |

| Weight Loss | Yes Coffee or no Coffee??? | Apr 17 2009 03:40 (UTC) |

I'm so happy about this thread! I've only been a coffee drinker since I started university and once I started the weight loss plan, I switched to Stevia and a dash of skim instead of cream &sugar. Now that classes have ended, I've been killing myself trying not to drink any and this thread made me realize how stupid I've been! I read some stupid article about it stalling weight loss but you guys made me see the light! I tried 2 cups of tea a day but that definitely didn't do the trick. I'm happy to have my coffee back! It's frusterating because everything about weight loss is so contradicting, some say cardio is key, others say strength training is key. Some say it's all about only eating certain foods, others say you can eat everything in moderation. I realize now that you can eat absolutely anything at anytime as long as you burn more than you consume. Moderation is key but it's all about eating less and moving more. |

ahhh I have the same problem and I hate it! I'm an 18 year old girl though..so I'm hoping it'll come off in a couple of years as baby fat. The best you can do is to keep losing until it comes off everywhere, maybe it's just stubborn and that's the last place you'll lose. That's weird that it wasn't like that before :s but I guess as we age, things get different. But keep pushing because it'll have to come off eventually.. good luck! |

I'm 5'5 and small frame. I currently weigh 121-123 and a size 2 is a tight fit and size 4 is looser. They both fit it just depends what look I want. But I carry alllll my weight in the middle, ugh lol |

| Weight Loss | Digital Scale or Steel Beam Scale, which is more accurate? | Apr 14 2009 04:23 (UTC) |

hmm, did you talk to your co-workers to see if they had any differences also? I tend to have a lot of problems with my digital home scale because depending on where it is, it gives me different numbers. I live in an older house so I guess the floors are uneven so I just try to keep it in the same spot. In terms of weighing yourself, as long as you're consistent with the scale that you're using/what you wear etc., it'll be a good indicator of your efforts. Good luck! :) |
