Yeah, some people do that. You also have a journal in your profile that you could use for that purpose too. I think that's what most people do, where those posts are.

Dole makes some really good fruit cups in water that are only 25 calories each. Think of how many you could eat if you took out the unnecessary syrup! Laughing

Weight Loss Muscle mass, fat percent and weight!! i am confused Nov 02 2009

"Muscle weighs more than fat." Tongue out

I had this issue a few months ago. I ran, I did weights, I took my measurements. I didn't lose any weight according to the scale, but my body fat was reduced.

Of course.... I got sloppy and gained it all back later. Go me!

I got older and the computer was invented. Therefore I'd still eat the same crap, but probably more of it while chatting away for hours on end. lol My "got to change" moment happened after a trip from New York, showed my friend's family the pictures and they made comments about my weight. Undecided

Weight Loss Supressing your Appetite...what works for you? Nov 02 2009

Don't say custard.. I want some now! Tongue out

Sometimes you need to increase your fat intake. Do u know what percentage of your macro's it is? I'd say if you're only having 20% increase it to 25-30%. Same goes with protein, and naturally your carbs will be lowered as you increase the others.

If you're eating enough and that's not the problem, and increasing fat and protein doesn't help, I'd seek the assistance of some good pure Hoodia. I haven't used it in a long time, but it REALLY kills the appetite. You just have to be careful that it's not some cheap commercial drug with a bunch of fillers. That's what most of them are because it costs less.

Weight Loss Not consuming enough calories = not losing weight? Nov 02 2009

I just wanted to add that in some cases, even if you've eaten very few calories but feel stuffed, that's a sign of a lowered metabolism. It's not gonna happen overnight, but if you're consistently undereating and finding over time that your appetite is decreasing, and that you're feeling full on fewer calories, it's probably time to up your intake. I've gone through periods of this, and once you start feeding yourself more the appetite will start to come back. Then when you actually feel hungry again you're like "Woah!" lol

Weight Loss Carbs a Few Questions Nov 02 2009

Reducing calories is ultimately the way to go to lose weight. You can eat a ton of healthy food, but if u still eat too much you'll gain weight.

Brown rice, whole grain bread, oatmeal, potatoes, etc.. are excellent carb sources. One thing I should mention on the bread tho is that "brown bread" is just the color. You can still have "brown white bread" - the type that's still stripped of all nutrients. It's funny how you think it's too dry, cuz I think white bread is too moist and it sticks to the roof of my mouth. lol You wanna go for whole grain, rather than just looking for color. Even whole wheat can be equivalent to white bread.

Don't forget that fruits are a carb source too. They are mostly sugar, but at least it's natural and they pack in a lot of good things your body needs. I'd still keep them in moderation though, but reaching for an apple is a lot better than grabbing a snickers. Wink

The rational part of me does wanna agree that it's poop or water. That's the only part keeping me from being like, "OMGGG!" lol But then the other part of me doesn't get why the scale didn't increase the day after when it should have. That just doesn't make sense.

And then I've read some things online how weight gain can be delayed because it takes time for the calories to be digested and stored. Someone said how they overate for a few days and the scale didn't change so they thought they were homefree... then BAM! It catches up to them.

P.S. - Do you think a 1/2 pound is still "silly" when you know it can add up to 26+ lbs. a year? Tongue out

As you lose weight, your BMR will go down. If you are doing it the unhealthy way (aka not eating enough) your metabolism will slow down more drastically than if you had lost weight more slowly. Sitting at the computer all day I will burn at least 1,400-1,500. This is my baseline and I try not to eat under 1,400. On days I go out shopping and stuff I burn about 1,600-1,700 and when I work I burn about 2,100 if I don't add any extra exercise. I imagine for you it's more, so try keeping your calories to match your sedentary burn at the very least. From my own experience in the past I've dropped weight quicker on weeks that I would dramatically overeat 1 or 2 days. It was strange! But that was a sign the calories needed to be increased.

I hate the after-dentist feeling. My mouth does feel minty clean and fresh, but it also feels gritty because they never rinse it out good enough, and it's sore because of all the poking and ungentle flossing they do. UGH. On top of that, my gums always itch like HELL when I come out. So about 1-2 hours after my appointment I eat something hard and crunchy. hahaha And I never brush that night or the morning after because they're still tender. I just swig mouthwash.

Fitness Does your HR go up quicker & faster if you do 2 workouts at diff times of the day? Oct 01 2009
06:00 (UTC)

That's weird. I've never heard of that. My body certainly doesn't do weird things like that. I just know that I burn more with cardio than with weight lifting because your heart rate is higher. That's probably what it is and has nothing to do with working out earlier. If you really want to test it, do the same workout twice in a day at the same intensity and compare your results.

Well thank you for the replies you did give. Every bit of insight helps! Smile

I'm still weary about the accuracy, and I've read it can be about 5-10% off. So I'm deducting 10% off the final total of the day to be on the safe side.

I wore my heart rate monitor today during a 30 minute jog and compared it to what the GWF said I burned. My HRM gave me 88 calories, whereas my GWF told me 145 (after uploading, cuz the display is still funked up). I didn't break a sweat or work too hard, I'd say my GWF grossly overestimated.

But I think I will take your suggestion and ask customer service about both the airport question and about the display. Maybe it's a bad egg and I need a new one.

amethystgirl - well that's good to hear! the machines intimidate me, i like to stay away from them. lol So i shouldn't aim for more than 12 reps? i did 15 today with 10 lb. dumbells and i was struggling with the last 5 reps.

minuseighty - i've never had any injuries walking or running on 0%, but it just feels funny. when i run it actually kind of feels like i'm running slightly downward. but i can run faster on that incline than i can at higher ones, but i think that goes without saying. Strangely enough, it's easier for me to "jog" uphill than it is to walk it.

Limit your salt, dairy and fruits as they all cause bloating.

Realistically, eliminating anything is bad. But if you are thinking bloating, I'd try limit those items below and drink tons of water!

Good luck!

That only leaves like... veggies and meat. Aren't you supposed to stay away from veggies too because they also cause excess gas from not being fully digested properly?

Fitness Should I switch from high intensity to lower? Apr 02 2009

So you think I should stick with what I'm doing?

I eat about 1,400-1,500 a day creating a deficit of 250-300 to lose half a pound a week. Well, lately I've been eating too much. I gained a bit over vacation and have been struggling to get back in the swing of things, so this week I've been mostly eating at maintenance.

If it makes you feel any better, i've craved chocolate and junk food all day! It's been soooo annoying, i had to give in somewhat, but i'm doing my best not to overdo it. I'm going on vacation next week so i'd rather keep my intakes low this week and allow myself some cushion for next week so i don't have to worry too much.

Fitness How many miles did I run? Mar 19 2009

i decided to not care about miles. I said in my OP that it was just for curiosity, but if its a lot of trouble to figure it out id rather not bother. I prefer my willy-nilly! it makes time go by faster when u dont have to concentrate on reaching a mileage goal. Laughing

pgeorgian, i'm sorry if i'm taking this out of context, but your first paragraph sounded like u were talking down to me like a child which i didn't appreciate. I apologize if that's not how u meant it, but that's the tone i got when reading!

My biggest problem is that I never have a "planned route". I like to go wherever I feel like! And if I try to map it afterwards, I can't remember exactly where I went and in what order. lol

Just like with the other "maps", i dont care for them. Streets are misnamed in my neighborhood, other streets aren't even labeled, and the plotty thing keeps going where i dont want it to go and i have to clear the entire map.

But i did find one that was a little easier to work with as far as plotting points go. i mapped it out as best as i could remember and it really wasnt far off from what the calculator told me. i think i missed a few streets, i'll have to make an actual mapped plan and try it and see and THEN compare. but it looks like i did make about 5 miles give or take!

To find my speed i just kept plugging numbers in their calculator to get the closest that matched my HRM. I put in the duration of the run and by trial and error found a speed that matched my caloric burn.

I'm assuming my burn is fairly accurate because i have a polar and it's always been pretty consistent!

I didn't run the ENTIRE time, it was a walk and run, that's how the speed just gets averaged out. i assume that's also why the calorie burn is lower?
