Thank you, Telethon, for taking the time to respond to my question.  I've read your answer over a couple of times, thought about it, and, of course, it made sense.  And, I thank God I DO have willpower and that with some discipline I CAN control my over eating, IF I WANT TO DO IT, which someone with anorexia cannot do.  Thank you, again.

well lucky you, honey.

I asked a sincere question, received an honest and sincere response, for which I thanked that person.  I don't think your smart aleck comment was called for.

mfm has the evil dread harlot hair, she cant help it ;)

Perhaps I am ignorant to this issue because I have never had an ED....  but does CC and ED go hand in hand? maybe there is something I do not understand.

mm. yes ignorance on the subject is obviously one of your problems. you have no idea how lonely it is to have an ED. you don't like it? don't read the threads. find a different website.

..as well as the other wonderful points made by the above individuals.

But, overeating is not something you have to do everyday...and it really IS easy to limit junk food..and INCREASE the amt that you EAT but DECREASE the amount of calories you consume..

Smoking is VERY hard to quit.  Some people go through HORRIBLE withdrawl, including psychotic episodes and severe mood alterations.

says who?

it's all about perspective.  what's easy for you, is hard as hell for someone else (ME, for example re: the junk food and overeating anyway..)

the mood alterations and psychotic episodes can be triggered by food, as well. everyone has their vice. everyone has their own buttons.

while waiting to get back into the kickboxing class, why not do some alternative cardio such as running, bicycling, walking, using the elliptical at a gym...? easy enough to do in order to get started in the mean-time :)

good luck!

This sounds too much like my situation.  Except mine DID cheat on me, twice, with two prostitutes.  I'd take him to therapy since he may not be too far gone yet if I were you.  Be really careful and if you're engaged, don't even think about a wedding until things are settled.

seriously? if you're taking him to therapy at the age of 19 (i believe that's the OP's age) and even before marriage - where do you think it'll be by the time they're 30..? 40..?

cut him loose..

Thats what kind of makes it confusing, is that I made if very clear to him that he is not obligated in any way to stay with me. I understand we had a kid together, but sadly enough our baby is not here. I have given him every opportunity to leave and not deal with any of this but for some reason he always comes back. I'm not really sure why, he says its because he loves but sometimes his actions would say otherwise.

He doesnt really help around the house, he hardly helps me with bills but then he complains when I ask him to clean up while I'm at work. He complains about the "rules" of the house. I don't really see them as rules, I think Hmmm I'm  not doing any thing, shes at work to pay OUR bills, maybe I should clean up a bit considering I'm the one that made the mess.

I don't know, maybe I'm over reacting or something, but I honestly feel that its past the point of overreacting. I am just so fed up with everything I would love to just throw a tantrum, however that would not help and would probably be counter productive. I just feel like screaming SERIOUSLY, YOU HAVE EVERYTHING HANDED TO YOU AND YOU STILL F$#$ING COMPLAIN. JUST TELL ME THE TRUTH AND STOP DRAGGING THIS OUT OR AT LEAST STOP COMING BACK.

you're engaged to this boy? can you seriously see yourself spending the rest of your life living with like that? ..talk about a recipe for a disaster. just begin filtering the money into psychiatric help and therapy now if you stay with that boy.

sorry.. i'm super bitter about low-life boys taking advantage of the girls they're in relationships with.

if you stay with him, he will kill you. maybe not literally, but figuratively. your spirit will eventually be crushed.

as far back as i can remember i've always thought that i was "fat". looking back - it's absolutely ridiculous, pathetic, and sad. i can remember as young as kindergarten going to swimming lessons and pinching my tummy and thinking how gross it was that i had any excess skin at all.

i attempted my first "diet" that i consciously remember in about the 6th grade. although that was mostly a deprivation/starvation/restriction thing. consisted of lying to my parents about what i was(n't) eating, constanly berating myself for being "fat". i also think i've been suffering with life-long clinical depression and have finally come to terms with that recently.

i've always had a mental screw loose i guess. the mental, physical, behavioral state i find myself in today was sort of inevitable, i suppose, and has all kind of come to a head. at least i'm finally getting some help, i guess.

fyi lovegrowsontrees, lately i've been hooked on low fat graham crackers with a tablespoon of light cool whip. stick those babies in the freezer & they make a great little ice cream sandwich!

that sounds awesome! i may have to try..

I did almost as bad.  I named my son after Thelonius Monk.  I can tell you he does not encounter a lot of Thelonius' in his life.  But, strangely, quite a few in literature.

ha! that's kind of cool, though - is your son a badass jazz musician? :P

Well, to me I trace it back all the way before I was 14, cuz as a kid I used to be obese then I started losing the weight through diet and exercise and here I am =]

But for the record I have 12% body-fat.

And I also have some self-esteem issues that make me anorexic, though I don't starve myself but I always think I'm fat.

And I didn't find you rude at all...your honesty is quite appreciated ^_^

probably more so body dysmorphia than anorexia. or maybe a little of both..? but it sounds like mostly it's manifesting in body dysmorphia (which sucks, btw, i'm not at all trying to insinuate otherwise..)

BUT likewise you could be stuck at that notorious starvation mode where your body isn't going to lose weight anyway because you aren't taking in enough calories..

*chops down a tree while wearing my right-wing, religious zealot hairshirt*

As someone who has thought out the actual reasons why I believe the way I do, I understand not wanting to listen to the "propoganda" of an opposing viewpoint.  I don't watch TV, but I do go to foxnews.com for my news every morning (along with other completely unbiased sites like drudge).  I'm very unlikely to go to MSNBC or another site that I feel is liberally biased.

However, I think it's vitally important that people of different political beliefs listen to each other and ask question about why they believe what they do.  That's how cooperation and tolerance is born.

Right now, both parties use the kneejerk hatred of each other to their advantage.  It's amazing how much liberals and conservatives actually have in common.  They don't want us to know it though.  Because if we were to unite, we would kick all their corrupt asses out of power.

likewise, i am just as unlikely to visit faux news online or any other site i feel is conservatively biased.  and again, i have acknowledged the fact that i understand and do indeed feel it is important to listen to others and question things, etc. [edit: as these are attributes i greatly admire in president obama, and i do indeed wish i had the patience to find these qualities within myself. alas, perhaps with age myself..]

it honestly sounds like you aren't that different from, except coming from the opposite side.

it's quite difficult for me to listen patiently to someone such as trent lott, sean hannity, etc. speak. and don't even get me started on crazy rush limbaugh..

hotfuss: i wasn't trying to attack you either! :) i was just a bit confused as to what you were referring to.

these quotes make me think you don't(present tense).

make you think that one doesn't grow positively while following right wing conservatives..?  if that's what you're saying - then i agree.

Fair enough, musical.  As I get older, though.  I prefer to try to look past the stereotypes and pay attention to what both sides are spewing.  It's how I learn.  To each their own, I guess.

I think this is why Obama has been so successful.  He does listen to both sides.  He seems to be trying his best to compromise.  Even if it means things move a bit slower than he would like.  There are people on both sides of the spectrum who are still willing to do this.  I don't, however, think that Palin is one of them.

too true, peaches. i have noticed this in him, and i do admire and respect him for being able to do this. he needs to be able to do this in order to lead an entirely diverse country.

"so...you would rather stick with stereotypes and intollerances than to educate yourself with other ideologies and to try to come to some sort understanding of how others tick(not necessary to agree with them though)?  odd."

i do educate myself. which is how i've come to the conclusion that i adamantly disagree with the opposing persuasion. how is that odd?

I'm not saying you have to agree with it.  But it's always good to get to know the other side.  How they think.  Why they think it. How others come up with their viewpoints.  Otherwise we all end up living in our own little bubble, stuck in our own beliefs, and never willing to learn how to compromise.  Not all conservatives are a bunch of crazy religious zealots.  And not all liberals are a bunch of hippie tree huggers.

You aren't making a very good case for why they should listen to you either.  How do we expect anything to change, then?

logically i can understand, acknowledge, and see your points. however truly i lean more toward the hippie tree huggers - so i can't help but get extremely angry if i happen to catch something on faux news (love that!) , or happen to be listening to any sort of right-wing propagandist.

call it a character flaw, whatever. it is what it is - but i'd much rather be of the hippie tree hugger variety than of the crazy religious zealot variety Cool
