Fixed it a bit - and it was so totally evil; I stole the Evil post from someone who actually had something to say.

 Much better.

Hey, Sarah Palin is gonne be hanging out less than a mile away from me in 45 minutes.  Aren't you jealous?  Want me to get you her autograph?

Bwahahahahah ;)

Well, yes - if you get her to sign something "To Pav's archnemesis Melkor, Love Sarah" that would be totally giggleworthy ;)

Pav doesn't have time to teach her to spell archnemesis.  You'd have to settle for unfriend.

I was very sad to hear on NPR yesterday that "unfriend" was Webster's word of the year.

My condolences. what an essential dumb turd she is.. andwhat makes it worse is that she prides herself in knowing exactly nothing...

Cool    Hey Pixie... yeah, it seems that the Yoga x is a real difficult trip for most folks.. I did a few years of that radical Bikram stuff... and the REASON I did it was because he didn't have ANY downward dog (in an hour and a half routine).. so I, too, am not a big downward dog person.. it used to hurt my shoulders and wrists, too... but that has become easier over time... cut some of them (moves) out for a while... like 15 minutes worth...work your way up over the next three months...

I don't think it was lame that you didn't finish after being sick, either... it is REALLY HARD to stay motivated... and it is so important to keep momentum up on a 90 day program... THAT'S WHY THIS THREAD IS SO GREAT... people will support you here... and you get to support them... that's how we succeed... subbing the cardio x and adding an extra x stretch would be a good set, too....

Keep coming back!  I just started the Classic yesterday... OMG... chest and back ... SO SORE TODAY... LET's do it!!!

Thanks sweetie, okay, I did chest and back... always challenging.. I did the pull ups with 10 pound weights using the form indicated for the ropes... stretchy things... gdit.. cannot remember the word for them.. anyway... thehouse ate them up while I was away... so I just improvised those exercises... and did the ab ripper ex.. man that was hard today... great to be back and sweating ... yeah... there is NO stress reliever like exercise... thank God for my body being able to do these things at this age... feels wonderful....love you... xo

hey everyone... I am BACK FROM PARIS!!.. where I EASILY pounded the pavements for 4-6 hours a day...minimum... but I TOTALLY ATE WHAT I WANTED.. and WHAT I WANTED was at teh pattiserie (bakery) and the boulangerie (bread shop) and fromagerie(cheese shop).. o mon dieu (OMG) these people eat WELL..

there is a major added stressor in the last 24 hours.. milaw hospitalized with major infection.. third time in three weeks.. so i KNOW myself... I NEED to start my p90 and other workouts NOW.. they will completely serve me by fending off the awful stress... only thing that does that for me is working out..

So, instead of going back to where I was (about 3-4 weeks into round 2 of p90x classic)... I am STARTING OVER TODAY... I will be doing the classic... but adding a few extra cardio days with TURBOJAM workouts... they are efficient for me and great as stress stoppers...

Emotionally, I am raw right now and when left to myself.. so very sad... so I am alone now, and am going to go and do workout one... heck I don't even know which that is... but I am doing it...

Thanks for being there... read your posts and everyone is doing awesome... remember, gals (and guys) JUST DO NOT GIVE UP BEFORE THE MIRACLE!  love to all... Bonnie/aka/Dramaqun

CoolHi Laurlita.. welcome.. I am 50's.. your height, and and WORKING HARD on getting to your weight... which would be IDEAL for me...

I did the p90x doubles program..(with everything)... from June-Aug... took off 13 pounds and more than that in inches...

SInce then I have been doing p90x with turbo jam ... and have been on a plateau.. wondering what you think of Jillian's 30 day compared to the 90x program... I am hearing that you use her exclusively for the cardio... same as what i have been doing with the turbo.. except I LOVE kenpo and cardio.. and am just too big for running... causes me awful shin splints... and that hasn't happened with my current workouts...

AGAIN WELCOME! Great support and great all round site!

My daily check in: took two beautiful hikes today with hubby... gorgwous views of the glorious Pacific looking down from bluffs 400 feet up and over and out... just like being in heaven! (sure beats kenpo in my living room)... I have decided to get out on the trails more ... my new addition... hiking is perfect year round here....

CoolHey everyone, thought I would do a daily check in here ... today.. I did p90x legs and back... anyone find they have to adjust for knees?  Still, its one heck of a workout... I also use hand weights and kneeling on one knee (and sometimes I go on the floor)and use hand weights for the pull ups and downs...as the chin up bar is upstairs ... I don't think this has hurt my back work though...

AND I did a quickie turbo jam 20 min cardio with hand weights prior to the leg and back...

So what's up with you guys on the journey to fitness?

CoolHey kealimonster..First, working out at home has turned out to be a GREAT time saving alternative for me... I have been amember of a gym for decades, and yoga studio, and mucho dance studios.. first time I EVER attempted an at home program...

1. I have been told that P90x was NOT devised as a weight loss program.. it is for muscle development and strength with flexibility and cardio thrown in, so it covers the basis of fitness... and I LOVED doing it... I finished 90 days and lost bout 13 pounds..but I am OLD.. and FEMALE.. so that was great.. also lost 13-15 inches all around.. THERE ARE BETTER PROGRAMS FOR STRAIGHT WEIGHT LOSS.. I hear Chalean extreme is one.. I have her turbo jam program.. quite good.. I have been mixing that with the 90x in the last two months.. feels good...

2. I think because you are YOUNG the weight will come off in almost any program you do... and it ALWAYS means a temporary weight GAIN when you develop muscle, as muscle, I am sure you already know, weighs more than fat... AND MUSCLE BURNS FAT... the more of it you have, the more fat your body can let go of...

Your food sounds GREAT.. and you need great food to do P90x ... you really do.. its challenging... if you enjoy a challenge, try it...

Turbo/Chalean is also challenging.. in a more female way.. she just keeps you going... no breaks... TOny HOrton takes breaks and does great long warm ups so he is thorough in that way, which I appreciate because that's the way to avoid injury... (warm ups).... Chalean... not so much... you kind of have to do that extra on your own... which I do when I do her cardio or resistance dvds...

I hear Insanity is insane... I am not ready for that yet..

I think next I would try Chalean Extreme.. supposed to be good for weight loss and muscle building... take a look at it... if you come from doing gym floor workouts in groups... she would feel familiar to you... (but way better than the average gym instructor)... Tony is from old school muscle work.. which I really like.. but I gotta say, he has NO rhythmn, which sometimes can carry you through a workout... so its a matter of taste... both are effective instructiors with effective programs...

That's about all I know in the dvd realm... I also hear about the Zumba stuff that is around, which seems like fun...

Good luck whatever you choose!  And DON'T GIVE UP BEFORE THE MIRacle!

SmileNo, you explained great! I was thinking about your suggestion in my journal that it might be good to try a non-carbo day to try to break the plateau I have been on... I was just trying to do the no extra sugar AND the non carbo day on the same day... probably not a great idea... I TOTALLY GET THE NO EXTRANEOUS SUGAR diet.... do you think I should still try a non-carb day in there every once and a while... or just focus on no extraneous sugar?  xoxoxox

SmileRight on!... listen, I am sitting here, thinking about what to eat if this is a no carb day.... what DO I get to eat for breakfast... I had a half scoop of protein in water during my am kenpo x workout... now I am having a quart of water with multi vit essence... I have a slikce of cantalope before working out... but that's carbo, right?  so, no fruit or veggies? so what's left.. steak, chicken, fish, almond butter (on what?) nuts - I have soaked almonds and walnuts... I have rice cakes.. salmon I was going to cut up and bake with a little seasoned flour and egg whites... but that was going to be lunch or dinner....

So--I am thinking egg white omelette with some laughing cow cheese in there... I have baby fresh spinach which I would put in if I were doing regular carbs...

Any other ideas for the day?

xo B

Smile(((((erin))))) YES YES YES... I simply, as they say, cannot do it alone... so yes, I will try it with you... now HOW.. like starting TODAY?  (be advised that I am currently dealing with a fair amount of sugar withdrawal symptoms).... and I am about to workout... which means an hour or so safe ... and I generally don't have cravings after... nighttime... after 7:00.... after dinner is the worst... craving for a sweet hit...

SmileWay to go, Cludiek! excellent... well, I finished my first round of x doubles in August... and September and Oct so far have been a mix of turbo jams with p90x... a program I have devised... I need to take off more weight, and though x was great fro inches, I really need to get rid of fat... so it was suggested that I try some challean extreme.. but I didn't want another thing with x in it or insane in the title so I just got turbo jam... and its been very good during an extremely stressful period of my life...

Just finished 40 minutes of cardio party... with hand weights... worked nicely to kick up the workout.. I will do x shoulders tonight...

I wanted to share that since I started xing... today I dinished my 150th workout since May.... I am very very proud of that... and shocked... and happy!

HOwever, my weight still plateauing, as it has since Late August... same weight.. a couple of times had big gains due to menopausal flooding ... and maybe my body just won't let go of the weight at this stage of its existence... but I keep hoping... diet is PRETTY good... ALWAYS a deficit of 300-800 calories a day... and I am NEVER hungry... sometimes I don't fight the cravings.. but that 's not even weekly... so I don't know what more I can do... more veggies.. maybe give up sugar... trying with that one... any clues anyone may have to this dilemma... would be grateful for feedback, encouragment or tips...

Meanwhile, I won't, EVER give up before the miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CoolOkay, guys... let's do it.. let's get moving.. Amandief.. I AM that kick in your butt.. I put the leg..knee back thing on priority healing... hubby massage on sciatic nerve, followed next day by deep hot healing bathing.. and stretched one hour each day... really paying attention to the body during the stretches (my dvd of p90x stretch)... YESTERDAY was great! Day before I started with one hour stretch and then moved onto resistance for 45 arms and back... yesterday I did one hour stretch... felt great.. went on to 45 chest and back resistance training... did the trick!  Removing the hard core aerobics was the answer... I am not looking forward to putting it back in the sched... but I HAVE to to get the weight moving off... so maybe today after my 1:00 pm performance.. food has been good since end of flooding.. no cravings at all.. (GoD I HATE THOSE CRAVINGS)... am not weighing in... PARIS IN 33 DAYS!!!!! DO NOT GIVE UP BEFORE THE MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!

CoolHey people.. checking in ... thanks amandief.. yeah.. back and knees and now I know why.. I am flooding for 3 days now... if I don't stop by tomorrow I have to get something done about it... I always get inflamed a week or so previous to flow.. but now that i am hormonally exhibing   many menopausal symptoms.. well, I just can't time the periods anymore... had two last month... last one 14 days ago.. so things are changing rapidlly in me... I took today totally off the legs.. rested... yesterday was a performance.. it was rigorous.. and my weight fluctuated 8 pounds in a 48 hour period.. that's big even for me... now I am back a pound under my lowest weight.. so that is good.. the only time I have roller coasted at all since APril is due to the Flo... so I am happy... I no longer have to lose 60 lbs.. I only have to lose 40-45... and that is wonderful progress... (started logging around APril 22--so that's averaging 3 pounds a month)... fabulous new awareness of food.. I am fit as a fiddle despite my BMI... and have been off BP meds for months... THINGS ARE GOOD...  mostly... I have learned that in order to succeed, I have to cultivate patience on a daily basis... that's my current goal...

As soon as I am not inflamed I will start my workouts again... only missed a week once before since April... and I needed that week, too... makes me happy to go back to ecercise when I have been off.. refreshing, really...

Love to hear from all you peeps... hows it going?

Cool Sharp... I can just see you pushing away and your hubby with his mouth agape seeing his sweetie pie turned NINJA woman... awesome!

Jake and WIlma.. awesome that you did lean.. you finished a little after me... I extended a little because of the times when I had to lay out due to women's stuff... but awesome... I lost a total of 10-12 pounds during that three months... and more than 13 inches... WOW.. that's a good result for me, as I am starting out as a BIG girl (over 200)... now I am 192... much better... finally on my way...CANNOT WAIT TO REACH the 1-8's... won't be long...

For the last week I have limited my workouts.. as I am FLO (flooding)... and in that part of life that is tricky.. many physical changes... but today I am thinking about doing chest, back tri;s I really love that workout... and I have to say, the yoga x saved my butt this week... did it twice... that's all I have done in the last 7 days... but i need to honor the process here... and YES that is a hard learning experience for me... I LIKE TO GET THINGS DONE.. MAKE THEM HAPPEN... but sometimes you have to follow your body... and go with the FLO...

Cool   Hey you guys... Jody, Gracie, Martoon, where are you guys... I NEED you... having a really really really really tough time with my knees... four days of being laid up... (THurs-Sunday) last time I felt good was at my performanc last WED... I am hoping this is menopausal related and that I have yet another period, then at least I wont' be so terrified that I have simply worn these puppies out... some folks here have suggested that I try yoga today... and I might... if I cannot do that, then its time for medical intervention... TOTAL TOTAL TOTAL TOTAL BUMMERDOM...

Meanwhile, I miss the crew from here.. nothing since SEPT 16th... where is everyone on this thread?  I am not even getting any journal entries to read (except Penny)... miss you a LOT!

CoolHey Jody, Steph and Katie... all right you guys... I am ready to join with you to try to let go of 15 by Christmas (though I have a Parisian holiday week in there in November)... I have been on this 193 plateau for a good three weeks... spent 6 on the previous plateau of 194.5... I have been in corro with my fitness coach from Beach Body and she suggests another program that might be better for loss... I am on my second round of P90x program... but it seems it was never designed for weight loss.. so I am thinking of another one... OMG... another change.. that's what it is all about.. keep tweeking what I am doing until SOMETHING works.. as always, DON"T GIVE UP BEFORE THE MIRACLE!!

CoolHi gals.. I did the chest/back/tris today... I really like that workout.. I am still taking care of a right side pull.. so I went low... nothing about 10's... usually 8's and, if I want rep heavy on a tough exercise for me, I will use 5's from time to time...

Star... I DID NOT WORK OUT YESTERDAY.. I know you will be proud of me for hanging tough and not overdoing an injury... today's was no problem.. in fact I added a little 20 minute turbo jam aerobis routine just to burn some extra calories... took everything low... its an hour later, and I feel okay.... this is the first day of phase 2 classic for me ... 2nd time around.. doing okay...e vn did the required 2 sessions of yoga last week..miracles never cease... as willingness grows...

CoolHey everybody... another great day to be alive, and to let go of the weight of the past... its just an anchor for old habits!!!  SO GLAD TO WELCOME NEWBIES... if you stick with this thread, logging, and exercising .. you will, I swear HAVE to change your habits... because you will WANT TO FEEL GOOD AGAIN!!!! its funny how the recovery from bad eating comes on so slyly... all of a sudden something big doesn't fit, and you notice!  All of a sudden, you don't FEEL LIKE eating that ice cream.. all of a sudden, you actually WANT to look at pictures of yourself (both old and new)...

Like you, I came in with specific hard core goals of very fast weight loss... when I missed my first goal, I regrouped, rethought, and recommitted to the LONG TERM... and that is how  (and when) it finally started to fall away... VERY VERy slowly... NOTHING i HAVE EVER DONE THAT WAS FABULOUS WAS DONE QUICKLY.... and now I am committed to fabulosity... and TIME ... after TWO severe plateaus (no weight loss/no weight gain)... I am able to regroup, check what I am doing with others... and ADJUST... making small changes... then its so funny, THEN I begin to get results again... who knew.... I am just like everyBODY ELSE...  love you guys... together... we can do it!!!!

CoolSharp... awesome that you DID it! I DID TOO!!! THought of you... boy did I need it.. so much residual pain in right side/hammy/hip/back... MUCH better now that I did yoga... HURRAH!

Hey Claudiek.. GREAT that you started P90x.. I love it, too.. my second round of it now... its the ONLY workout system that doesn't produce injury in me.. I do believe it is because he warms you up for at least 8 minutes in every workout... such an intelligent long tem approach to exercise... BRING IT!!!!

As for the drink... I do a whey protein drink that I bought at like Costco or Walmart... bulk for low bucks... its fine... I just make sure I drink it (usually in a fruit smoothie) right after I work out... which is, generally speaking, in the am...

Keep going... BB is a good company, so I wouldn't worry about the sugar (unless you have blood sugar problems to begin with)

xo to all the ones who bring it!  Bonnie

CoolHi YOU GUYS, here I am... its been a while, and I realize I have a hard time doing BOTH the thread and the journal... like gracie... but then I got back here and am reading, and I MISS YOU!!!

APRIL!  THAT IS SO TREMENDOUS about your pregnancy... you know, the last time I was at my goal weight was the week before I got pregnant (18 years ago).. I had worked so darn hard... but it was the best time of my life!!!!! My child is the healthiest kid on the planet... remember you are making the vital organs (especially the brain) now... eat!!!!! great stuff!!!!!

JODY JODY JODY... I have missed you sooooo much... that story about the trainer and the big lady biking... right on the mark... I, like Penny, am beginning to let go of my judgementalism, or as you say, "knee jerk" reactions to MY SELF ... I actually had a phenomenal dinner party for just my mother in law and sister and borther in law and us on Labor Day... and SHOWED all my pictures (they are the skinnies) of my fabulous birthday week events... including me wearing my camoflage cotton shirt (wrong kind of sleeves, shall we say)... and I didn't even gross out that much... I realized I have come a long way... and that I probably felt okay about myself in those pictures, because I have started to ACCEPT myself in TOTAL.. I have been having the best three months of MY LIFE.. I am stronger than I have been in years (yeah weight training)... and fitter, and I am eating well (yes, sometimes I eat too much, but not often)... and it was eye opening to see myself at the HEARST castle... in pictures that will last a lifetime... and not be grossed out... and the pictures at the RANCH.. and not be grossed out.... heck I was the ONLY ONE who tried the roping... and I did well!!!!!!! So, big deal if I have big arms when I am feeding a giraffe... heck... I WAS FEEDING A GIRAFFE!!!!!! HOW GREAT IS THAT!!!!!!!

I thank you Jody for posting your pix here on CC... that emboldened me to start to look at myself... and accept my progress... not puncture my work with knee jerk judgements about how bad I looked (compared to what?  Some IDEA I have of how I should look in my mind?) ... reality may bite, but it sure beats keeping my head in the sand....

Anyway, that's my rant... and my THANKS.... now if I can get myself together on this posting thing, I will send you guys my giraffe pictures and my belly dancing pictures....

AS for my progress... I am in my fourth week of P90x doing classic this time... and adding a few Turbo Jam workouts for extra fun.. I have been downed for two days with a bad back... really taking care of this... but I have to work out today or I will go nuts... SO..
