| Weight Loss | Has anyone ever heard of, or used, phentermine? | Apr 18 2009 19:21 (UTC) |

I had a friend who bought phentermine from a diet clinic. She lost a lot of weight because it enabled her to eat very little. She did not keep it off an then got into the yo yo cycle of taking the pills losing weight stopping gaining weight then taking the pills again etc..
She now suffers from an irregular heartbeat at appears to be permanent and cannot exercise without palpitations. She does not attribute this heart defect to the phentermine but it seems to me in view of the side effects listed above it is the probable cause. My advice is to steer clear. |

Chemotherapy is often given in combination with high dose steroids, i'm guessing as I do not know how long it has been since you stopped taking them but they can contribute to weight gain? |

I have a similar problem with hurting knees on the treadmill and heard similar stories about ellipticals so I asked the trainer what would be a good alternative and he said stair master. I dont find that hurts my knees at all. |

| Recipes | Quinoa? | Apr 05 2009 15:54 (UTC) |

Hi, I discovered Quinoa in Jan this year as a trainer at the gym recommended it apparently its high in protein. I found great recipes for it on www.allrecipes.com. its a great site. I make tabbleoh ( not sure if thats how you spell it soz) but substitute the cous cous for quinoa. Also use it to thicken soups and stews.

Ive only just started interval training do you think that 3 mins jog to 1 min sprint is okay or should I work harder and more frequently?

Ive just started interval training and I jog at 5.5 too. I run at 7.5. So my routine is 3 to 1 meaning 3 mins jogging to 1 min sprinting then 3 mins jog 1 min sprint for 30 mins with warm up and cool down either side. I did try running at 8 but found that I had to walk for a min afterwards so am sticking to 7.5 which I still feel is really fast for me and jog at 5.5 as its better than walking (if this makes sense). No inclines for me as its a long time since ive run, ill save the hills for later!
I also do interval on the stair master which I find just as effective. Same rountine of 3 mins to 1 min stepping at level 6 (as my jog) and 10 as my sprint (again for 30 mins.)
Hope that helps. |
