Name: Sarah Very confused. The week I thought I would gain, I lost, and vice versa. Went out to happy hour with friends last night, perhaps it was just more than my body is used to. C'est la vie! Come on November :) |

I just moved from Georgia to Pennsylvania. We used Nationwide (their Moving Cost branch) stay far away. Especially if you encounter a guy named "John Nieuwerner." He lied to me about when my move was coming, about the weighting of our furniture, etc. Basically, I had to move a day earlier than expected and pay about $500 move. We had to deal with their legal department and got a nominal settlement from them. So not worth the hassle! |

I was recently told (by a dietitian) that reheated rice is a major source of salmonella. You may want to do some research on this. Perhaps you should consider getting some microwavable ready rice (such as Uncle Ben's) which is usually ready in under a minute and is pretty good! |

Name: Sarah Weighing in early this week as I am headed out of town today. No change from last week, but I am happy with 5lbs so far this month (and getting back on the wagon)! Didn't make 138 before my brother's engagement dinner (tomorrow night), but hopefully there by Wednesday! |

Name: Sarah Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled with my progress this month, BUT I am not sure this is sustainable. I have just started my PhD program and have forgotten to eat a couple of times this week (womankind cannot survive on coffee and protein bars alone -- even if they are homemade protein bars!) Perhaps my July/August hiatus from dieting helped jumpstart my metabolism (I had been at a plateau at around 145 since about March)? Regardless, I have been walking more since I moved here (to and from school, a mile each way) and have not had time to go to the gym... I can't really explain it, but come on 138 :) |

Name: Sarah Moved 700 miles and started my PhD program in the last month. Not so much plateau, but paying very little attention. Thankfully, I have maintained (lots of walking here in Pittsburgh). BUT I am going back to Atlanta for my brother's engagement party (September 24) and I would like to have lost a few pounds before then. Eventual end goal, 130 lbs (what I weighed on my wedding day!) |

Red and Black Grapes -- the secret is freezing them before you eat them :). I too buy several lbs at a time (5 lbs, last night, to be specific)... nothing like frozen grapes in the summer! In fact, I just finished a cup!!! |

| Weight Loss | Recommitting from the holiday and motivated by pictures~ | Jul 14 2009 16:23 (UTC) |

Oh, yes! Unfortunately not recently -- I could really do with a shock to get me motivated again. August 2005 I went to the beach with my family after returning from a summer studying in France. Upon returning from vacation, I was looking at pictures and was wonder who the heavy, middle age woman was off to the side -- it was me (age 21, 161 lbs). After seeing that picture, I lost 31 lbs over the course of a year and maintained until my wedding (June 2007). In the two years since my wedding, I have gained 20 lbs. Perhaps I need to do as kap286 does -- print off the offending pictures and use them as a reminder. |

It has not been a good (eating) week. That TOM starts tomorrow, and I have family in town from another country (read: lots of eating at restaurants). Truthfully, I need to get my motivation back for next week's weigh in. Last Week: 143 This Week: 144 End Goal: 130 |

I'm in! I am 25, between 5'4" and 5'5", and fluctuating between 143 and 145. Would love to be 125 (although, 130 might be more realistic). I need extra encouragement as my husband and I are about to move from Georgia to Pennsylvania (the first time in my life I will be more 30 mins from my immediate family!) and I am an EMOTIONAL EATER, on top of that, lots of out-of-town family in town, birthday and other summer celebrations to get in the way. How about weighing in on Fridays? |

I second Jenny8484, I LOVE a sweet potato as a side with my dinner -- a little sweet, a little savory and very filling (and approximately 100 cals). A recipe that I use a lot (and my husband, who is not on a diet, loves) is actually a weight watchers recipe. It uses some veggies, but ones that you have listed as okay: 1/2 Cup Diced Red Onions, 1 Can Yellow Corn (drained and rinsed), 1 can black beans (drained and rinsed), 1/2 cup fresh cilantro/coriander, 2 tbsp lime juice, and 2 tsp ground cumin. Mix well. 1/2 cup=1 serving. I have tried some variations (pinto beans -- my husband's preference), kidney beans, making double portions and doing one part black beans and one part kidney beans. I also never use the cilantro/coriander (just not my taste). Hope this helps! |

At home: Hazelnut coffee with 1/2 cup fat free milk (45 cals) and 2 tbsp sugar free syrup (hazelnut, vanilla or caramel -- 0 cals, from Target). Starbucks: They have started to do a "skinny latte" (easier than having to say "non-fat milk, with sugar free syrup" like I used to...) my fave is the Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte (160 cals for a venti, 120 grande, 90 tall -- you can calculate nutrition really comprehensively on Starbucks website). Most big coffee houses have an equivalent, just be sure to ask what syrups they have in sugar free... |
