| Weight Loss | 1200 Calories is working for me. | Nov 25 2009 04:12 (UTC) |

if you are working out you need more than 1200 calories 1200 calories is how many calories your body burns just doing it's normal things.. like breathing, thinking, circulating blood, temperature control.... etc.... 1200 calories for YOU based on what you wrote there is not healthy i'm quite certain you'll be able to lose on more
if you plan to up it from 1200 when it stops working... it is going to be too late, your metabolism will already be at a crawl and as soon as you eat more you're going to gain and you're going to "think it's not working for you" this could lead to a dangerous chain of events |

Original Post by jackattack07: maybe something constructive would have been better than this statement?
anyway, just remember that when you are young you have energy that you will lose as you get older... try to get into sports and try to make as many good choices about food, like choose an apple instead of cookies once in a while... talk to your school counselor or go to a doctor who can explain to you exactly what you need to eat to be healthy and strong. |

i get that like at the end of the day, if she sees a bag of dorritos, she's human, she's gonna want to eat it like the rest of us do it's just funny that with all that help it's so hard for her, when for me all it took was counting calories i do understand that that's an unfair statement to make, i mean someone could look at me and say, wow i can't believe she spends so much time counting calories, i just eat healthy like normal and the weight stays off...
i just think she's an interesting example |

Original Post by rosl: i think everyone is aware of the gender inequality that goes on in the middle east this is about her health she was eating less than 1200 calories for a year, basically she was being starved. that is a human rights violation if her husband was forcing her to.

let's do it guys!
arroub.. it doesn't have to be weight.. you could try to drop a dress size instead.. or tone up a part of your body
also, i guess you could also do it if it isn't the last 10lbs but the first 10lbs towards your goal |

ugh... that makes me so ridiculously sad to hear i know a lot of strong muslim women your husbands control issues have nothing to do with islam he needs to seek therapy or at least you both need to go to a doctor so the doctor can explain to you both about nutrition and diet i understand that in some families as they have been brought up within certain cultures, there is a male dominant emphasis but you have to take a stand for yourself, for your own health and well being just because it is tradition or culture does not make it right

try doing something that ISN'T exercise i honestly hate going to the gym.. i do it about 3x a month because i just find it so boring the only way i can exercise for long periods of time is if i'm doing some kind of sport i suggest to join some kind of team, if you go to school, or if you're able to join the YMCA otherwise, start playing sports like tennis, skiing, swimming, biking, hiking team sports, i find, are the most fun |

| Weight Loss | 50 lbs by May?!?!?! | Nov 11 2009 18:27 (UTC) |
|
just under 10 pounds a month... it's doable but it'll be hard... it took me over a year to lose 20lbs but i started off at a lower weight if you are really careful about your calorie count you should lose a significant amount of weight in the first couple of months...take exercise easily, like for example, start running for 5 minutes a day and slowly increase until you can run for an hour by May. And just incorporate more exercise into your life, start swimming, go on hikes, go bowling, golfing, dancing, cleaning, walking, biking... just anything other than sitting around even if it's not intense exercise. and then once you notice a plateau, i would recommend working out really hard for the last couple of months, start weight training, just keep working to increase how much weight you can endure. keep at it, and don't give up when you don't see results on the scale right away. seeing as how you are 205, i can imagine, if you actually do count EVERY calorie, and make sure to WEIGHT and MEASURE everything!! and stay absolutely accurate, you will be quite successful. good luck |

| Weight Loss | why oh why have i not lost a lb - 4 weeks of diet and exersize? | Nov 10 2009 20:24 (UTC) |

you need to see a nutritionist you might get a post or two on here that will give you good advice but if you don't seek professional help on this to evaluate what is best for YOUR body you're just going to continue to fail, while killing yourself eating the wrong foods and doing the wrong exercises if you can get a doctor to refer it'll probably be covered by your insurance if not think of it as a life changing investment |

i worked out today and breathed super heavy.. breathing is really important when you work out so i always hated trying to keep it hidden and i burned 520 calories in half an hour i was really happy with myself :) so worth the heavy breathing anyone could have possibly heard |

if you live in a big city [which i don't anymore]... but when I did I found that if I went to farmers markets and chinatown markets and other ethnic markets the fruit and veg was ridiculously cheap and usually better quality than supermarket

i'm going to go work out tomorrow morning and i'm really going to make an effort to not care
i mean... even if they do hear me, so what.. i don't know them and i'm doing this for ME and the end result of my health and fitness is so much more important than someone hearing me breathe heavy i know logically it's ridiuclous to think.. but i can't help it but tomorrow i'm really gonna try |

| Weight Loss | How to avoid a binge? | Nov 07 2009 04:45 (UTC) |
4 |
i have a thing now, where if i want to binge, i know it's purely out of boredom, so i make myself do something where i actually leave the house here is a list of things i like to do 1) shopping! i love especially going to shoe stores and trying on shoes... i dont always buy stuff.. infact i hardly ever do because i'm saving up for when i reach GW.. it's just fun for me to go out, try on outfits and see what's out there... see what's on sale 2)go to the movies... dodge the snack bar..maybe grab a lollipop or a diet coke 3) go to a coffee shop and just sit with my laptop and people watch, maybe even strike up conversation [so much more fulfilling than anything in the fridge is]... just be careful to stick with low-cal beverages and NO CAKES [this one actually might be dangerous if you're craving sweets, maybe avoid it] 4) go for a work out or go to the YMCA and see if they have any drop in classes like a dance class or something fun like that 5) fill your days with activities that you must make a commitment to do regularly so that you can't sneak out of it, like sign up to volunteer, or get a very small part time job if you have the time 6)call up a friend and go for a walk 7)play games, computer games, etc... 8)grab a camera and go take pictures of your city 9)take an adult education course 10)cook or bake something that is totally healthy and give it as a gift to someone 11) clean your house top to bottom, scrub your floors, clean your windows, all the little corners you don't usually get to [this one will burn tons of calories too] 12) put on some music and dance like a mad man around your house. 13) take a shower and give yourself a spa treatment, facial, mani - pedi 14) dress yourself up for a night out on the town, either with friends or ask a gentleman or lady out for a date.. or go speed dating i could probably think of more...
