| The Lounge | My dog bit a boy - deleted | May 22 2009 06:07 (UTC) |

This is sad. :( I feel really bad for your poor dog, who probably thought he was protecting the house/your son. My dog is also protective, but only towards other dogs. Still, I know how saddening it can be when your best friend is trying to protect the family in a way that hurts innocent people. I don't think your dog has rabies (I just did a report on it for my biology class, and unless he got in a fight recently with a raccoon/bat, he should be fine). I think the fact that your dog was in his own house, and that the other boy let himself in should be a strong "defense". It would be very different if your dog escaped the house and mauled a small child who was playing in their own yard... Best of luck to you and your pooch, and I hope the other boy is okay (though it sounds like he is already)! |

My moment: I am a Senior in High School, and so today I went shopping for my prom dress with my aunt and cousin. We were looking through all the dresses, and my aunt asked me what size I am. I told her 16 or 18, but when I tried on the dresses she brought me none of them fit! It turns out I am between a size 11 and 14 (mostly dependant on the bust). This is a definite high point in my journey, and I actually liked trying on all the dresses and looking at the thinner reflection in the mirror. Never thought I'd like clothes shopping! |

Original Post by crabot: ^^Definitely agree with that. I loved that show, and I love her. Also Ali Larter when she is more curvy (like in Legally Blonde). And Eliza Dushku - she is absolutely gorgeous! |

| The Lounge | Swine Flu- Are you afraid? | May 02 2009 08:31 (UTC) |

The only thing I am concerned about is my school freaking out, shutting down, and graduation being postponed. We have already moved back graduation due to a teacher strike and snow days, and I can't take any more delays! As for the "swine flu" it is no worse than the "normal flu". As my biology teacher explained it, H1-N1 is just a mutated form of the flu that produces different proteins than the regular flu. It is no worse and no better than the nomal flu. If you live somewhere with adequate health care, and you treat the fever (which is the most dangerous part of the flu since it can cause brain damage), you will be fine. Like everyone else was mentioning, over 30,000 people die from the flu annually - and a different strain hits every year. The virus that causes the flu is notorius for its high rate of mutation, since the way it produces DNA/RNA isn't "proofread" for the right sequence by the virus. Of course, getting the flu sucks and we should all follow safe defence practices - don't share drinks, wash your hands, etc. But don't freak out. Chances are that you will be fine. And for all of you who live in the Northern Hemisphere - count your blessings that we are ending flu season now, unlike our friends in Australia. |
