i don't hate kamloops, runey.  but i stayed in a spider infested hotel room there once.  needless to say...my memories of kamloops are a little effed.

Yesss, for you that would be traumatizing.. <3

Salmon Arm it is!  And you'll only be 90 minutes away from me!

Rosie, Kamloops only stinks on one side if the wind is blowing just right.  :D  Besides, I hate Kelowna worse.  Kelowna is like Red Deer with a lake.  And you have to turn left to get anywhere, there are no right turns and everything is across the highway from wherever you happen to be.

yep, I've noticed that too.  Ooosoyos is kind of neat because of the road up Anarchist mtn.  We always take highway 3 to Vancouver.  It's longer but seems more relaxing.

dear rosie & runey,

i am not originally from vancouver.  i am used to snow.  i actually like snow.  and i'm not a big city girl.  i don't want to live in vancouver forever.  it's either southern alberta (sorry bugs), or somewhere in southernish BC for me eventually...

love, SLO.

 Dear Slo,

I think you're nuts but I love you anyway.  If you want a lovely place to go, try Salmon Arm.  Or Kamloops, since I will be moving there in about 10 years.

Love, Runie

PS: Snow sucks.  Ice is worse.

Kamloops is too big for me now.  Plus it smells.  Salmon Arm is nice.

Snow is good for skiing.  And the ice, well after you get used to it, you only fall down once a day.

There's this great thing you can do called a "road trip."  Generally, people own these machines called "cars."  They are motorized vehicles with four wheels that are fueled by gasoline (some have an electric component).  Anyway, you obtain a car, and you drive the car to New Mexico, utilizing a picture that shows you the way called a "map."

Pfft.  Cars.  We have dog sleds here

Cranbrook is either too hot, too cold, or too windy.  For me, coming from a little town of 2500 it's loverly, for you coming from Vancouver, it would be an armpit

rosie - i have decided i want to live in cranbrook.  but i don't think i've ever been to cranbrook.  it's just that wikipedia tells me that cranbrook is the sunniest city in BC.  this holds major appeal.

Ooooh.  You'd be so close.  We could go shopping and we could have coffee and we could go out to the bar and we could have lunch and we could go to the movie...

Pfft.  High School Musical was filmed at East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.  I'm not sure where the resort in High School Musical 2 was filmed, but I think it was near Saint George, Utah or somewhere down yonder.

You know this?  hahahahaha.

None of my current clothes fits correctly. How the frack could I not frackin' notice the frackin' date in relation to the frackin' wedding????

Ugh.

I hate it when my advancing years kick my ass like this. I was supposed to get my hair done as well. Frak.

And WHAT THE FRAK is dressy-casual?????

Disclaimer: The following comment may be related to above post, but my also be completely random and not applicable to any comment ever made in Chat:

My oldest son is getting married on December 19, and as the mother of the groom, I am wearing nice dress slacks (gray, faux tweed), a nice (pricey for me at $50) silver cardigan w/jeweled buttons, with a dark teal cami underneath the sweater, and black heels. No dress, no over the top heels and no poofy hair/gaudy jewelry/dangly earrings, etc.

Does that sound dressy-casual? Does it sound tacky for a wedding?

kthnxbai

Sounds awesome.  Take that MoB

My mom's a crazy little 85 year old.  I keep telling my kids I'm going to be just like her.  My MIL and I took a few years to get used to the idea, but I like her now.

I found a method of brining that does not require the purchase of a five gallon bucket. I am pleased.

What do you do, use the kitchen sink rather than a bucket?

The method calls for a baking bag, that is twisted closed until the brine covers the breast, then tied. But I am certain a gi-normour zip-lock will serve as well.

You're brining your breasts?  Whoo, you 'mericans have some weird traditions.  We canucks just eat turkey for Thanksgiving.

Weight Loss New to adulthood... Nov 25 2009

Only walk around the outer aisles of the store.  One side is usually dairy, one side produce, one side bread and one side meat.  Usually the center aisles are labelled so you should be able to avoid the junky processed stuff.

What my family does is sit down on the weekend and decide what we want to eat for dinners.  Then I make a list of the ingredients, check the kitchen to see what what I need to buy, and go shopping.

I use cookbooks because they make it easy.  Next time you're at a bookstore, browse the cookbook section and find one with stuff you'd like to eat.  A couple of good ones are Looneyspoons and Crazy Plates by Janet & Greta Podleski.  They have a new one out too.

Oh, and welcome to adulthood.  You're gonna love it.

Weight Loss Reached goal weight...but, Nov 25 2009

Do you think you could focus more on size than weight?  Say, start working out and see what happens.  Maybe you don't need to lose weight, maybe you just need to do what AG and Hedgren suggested.  Wouldn't hurt anyway.

Fantasy93, you're at a good weight right now.  We keep telling you this stuff because we actually care what happens to you.

As many of you know I deliver medicine for a living.

There is one older man, in his late 70's that I deliver to from time to time. He lives in a very old trailer that only has 1 chair in it and a black and white tv in his living room, he barely has anything in his kitchen or living room. He is very poor (as I can see at least).

All he eats is canned food and bread because I do not  think he can afford anything else.

Whenever I go there and ask how he is he either says "barely surviving or not good"

I do not think he has any family and he seems so lonely and depressed. He is so skinny and looks horrible.

Thanksgiving is coming up and I would really like to bring him a nice thanksgiving meal, but I do not know how to go about it.

Should I just ask him tomorrow if he has any plans for thanksgiving and that I will be making lots of extra food and if he would like a nice dinner? We do not know eachother well and I do not know if someone will be helping him out with a meal but I can't stop thinking about it.

I don't want to assume anything about him but it just seems like he will be alone on thanksgiving.

If you ask him if he has plans, he might think you're inviting him.  Why don't you bring him some food.  He can always put it in the fridge.  I'm sure he would appreciate it.

I've suffered from shinsplints for years.  When I feel them coming on, I need to get off my feet immediately and get them raised and iced.

The most soothing thing is.... My cat!  I have this HUGE cat that likes to lie on my shins and purr.  The heat and sligt vibration seems to help.  Definitely no science backing up the "apply cat to legs for 2 hours to relive pain" theory...

I want two of these.  One for hot, one for cold.  Do they come in different temperatures?
