I buy 3 tubs of cottage cheese at a time. Also, a huge packed bin of spinach that magically expands until it's full again when you take a serving(until the end that is |

I don't know what to do about the cookies, but is there anyone else in your house that eats junk food? Can you get rid of it? I just control myself while I'm at the grocery store, then there is no problem during the other 99% of the time. |

Thanks for all the replies. Those links are great and I'm practising my form with a broomstick while I build up the confidence to hit the gym/wait for my book to arrive. Can't wait to start taking in 4000 cals a day. I have a appetite mutated by some too strict dieting in the past, so even taking in 4000 clean calories shouldn't be hard for me. I've just got to remember to keep hitting the gym, unless I want to gain 20 lbs of fat per month |

Wow, thanks guys! Four recommendations for starting strength. I read all that I could on the "search inside me" on the amazon page plus the whole kethnaab thread and it seems to make a lot of sense(even though part of me just wanted to fool arouind with the easy machines) I like the idea of drinking calories/protein, as I have just sorted out several overeating problems(though you wouldn't guess it by my weight) and wouldn't want to get in the habit again and not be able to break it if the working out thing doesn't pan out. The only problem now is learning how to do it properly(and in public) without anyone to instruct me. My prospective workout buddy who's been working out for a while likes to just do whatever he feels like each day, and is generally a know-it-all, so I don't think I could convince him that this is the right way for me. The training staff my College (I get a free gym membership because I'm a student) would most likely want to see me jump on one of the many safe bet machines/gizmos and stay out of their way, so it looks like I may have to fly solo. Would it be a total waste of time to do the bench press on a machine that wouldn't require a spotter? Any other tips on how to get started? Maybe I'm being a wimp, but it's gonna be hard as hell for a toothpick to just walk in there and start flailing around akwardly with barbells trying to perfect a technique while everyone else is at least pretending they know what they are doing ;) Thanks again. |

After reading this thread yesterday, I decided to try taking an extra 200 calories this morning even though I was full. Much to my surprise, I was able to go 5 hours until I broke down and had a ceaser salad (my pre-lunch appetizer). I can usually never go more than 4 hours without being hungry no matter how much I eat. |

Just curious, how do you keep your sodium so low? I get that amount every day just in whole wheat breads. Plus, I'm a huge fan of cottage cheese at almost 500 mg per serving...etc...... |

Yes, pitas make great pizzas. Just had one tonight, actually. Another favourite of mine is garlic hummus, mustard, alfafa sprouts and a frozen seafood mix(shrimp, calamari rings, baby clams, etc...) |
