Fitness Learn to Run - AGAIN - want to do this with me?? Jul 29 2009

Hi There Mabear! Yes, I'm still at it. Half a mile is great. Way to go. I'm at 3 miles, but I jog 3 minutes, walk 5. It works for me. My goal is 5 miles with jogging 5 minutes and walking 3. Maybe by the end of summer, we'll see.

What are your weight/fitness goals? I started in Feb. of 2008 at 298 pounds, and now with calorie counting and exercise, I'm at 167 and still dropping. Let me know what your goals are, and I'll cheer you along.

Thanks jachid2. I am back on the knee again and trying to be careful. Turns out that I have cartilage damage. So I'm taking Glucosamine. Hope it helps.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to be getting any faster with jogging. Thinking of hiring someone to chase me with a truck, that might help get me going! LOL

Great job by the way! I'm definately going to keep at it.

Weight Loss Anyone else feel better about themself before they lost weight? Jun 19 2009

Thanks ladies. You gave me some things to think about. -Men do look at me differently. Hadn't thought about that. Very good point.

I am, of course, proud of what I've accomplished. I've lost, basically, a whole other "me". I don't even recognize myself. lol

To answer your questions... I lost weight mainly for health, but also to look better. And I think what makes me feel unattractive is that over-weight I was still smooth and young looking. Now I've got saggy skin, and I look older.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi there plindholdt. Actually, I started having a deep burning/aching pain in my knee. My doctor told me to take a week off, which I did. Still hasn't helped. My knee sounds like it has gravel in it when I go up and down stairs. But, today I went for my walk/jog anyway. I just don't want it to set me back.

I'm doing the 3.1 in about 40 minutes as well. Smile I really want to get faster! And, I still have 30 pounds to lose. Ugh!

Anyway... Way to go! Your doing a great jog of sticking to it.

Hi guys,

I'm 42 and trying for about 35 more pounds. I've just started jogging. (good comic relief) Yesterday I walked for 5 minutes, jogged for 2. Made the 3 miles, but, oddly enough... I wasn't tired, just breathing a little too heavy. Anyone else have that problem? Did yoga today, but I'll be back to walk/jogging tomorrow.

Way to go everyone! Its great to read about other sucess. It inspires me to keep at it!

Hi there Janl777.  Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. Difference is, I'm older and was much heavier than you were. I kept the extra weight for about 5 years. But with exercise and diet changes, I've lost 123 pounds. Which is saying a lot when I'm 185 right now. Anyway, the good news is, that the skin sagging isn't severe. But, I too am hoping that all my exercise will lead to a little firming action.

I'm very sorry to hear about your father. Good job on your own health improvements. Keep up the great work!
