qm- you will balance out. sometimes it sucks all the fluxuations in weight woman have from ttom. I didn't count yesterday because it would have been a lost cause. Aside from the best burger & fries at lunch i at pizza (not veggy lovers) w extra chs & mushroom 3 glasses of wine to end the night and tons of snacks. I didnt work out althought I did play w/ dd at playground for a little over an hour. And I was up all night on face book & had some belly dance bouts w/ friends (courtesy of wine). I decided to hope on scale to see the damage. I am a glutton for punishment. I'm down two lbs. I had been stuck at 113 for over a week. I figured it's up because of the muscle weight/transformation. I also lost another inch in my waist (have been consistantly the last 3 wks) and amazingly lost .5 in my hip/tush (that #has never really bugged despite all my efforts). So odd things happen when you're not really watching and it can't be explained. Today I'll be hooking and i.v. for coffee up to me...haven't pulled an all nighter in I cant tell you how long. I'll try to cc or atleast stay in my cals & 30 30 40 plan. cw = 111 waist=25 hip=34.5 height 5'3" age 34 happy saturday

tgif- So yesterday was going well. I was in my calories. I burned 547cal working out (did jm video in morning and another 20 min squats, lunges, calf raises, crunches, pushups & triceps lifts). I'm getting closer to my 30 30 40 plan...and something came over me. I pigged out on chips & candy (albeit they we're light & 100cal packs I ate too many). Why Why Why? My saving grace is that I'm a little sore & musles pulled in tight from all the work out yesterday. I sometimes get discouraged by the burn meter on cc as well as what it suggests my intake be...it's different then what doc says and I never get as high of a calorie burn as most others I see...but se' la vi' today is my day off working out...woo hoo. I'm thinking of still squeezing in a yoga, pilates or belly dance video...they're kinda fun and light and will make me feel like I did something. b= xl coffee w/ creamer & sweetener = 65. -bad start to the day but I'll be encountering some higher calorie food today l = five guys burger & fries...these are the best burgers on earth and like 90 gazillion calories...coworker suggested...I may try to get out of it and hit subway or saladworks...but the burger & fries are hard to turn down d=veggie lovers thin crust pizza hut pizza 170cal/slice (how many slices depend on my lunch outcome) and salad. I'll probably have a glass of wine too. I doubt I'll be counting today...seems kind of pointless... and wouldn't dare want to see what the end count might be good luck and have nice weekend...I will try to get on cc this weekend...I'm always bad about logging over the weekends but I do try to count in my head and am getting better.

Original Post by fabfuture: fab I know you're replying to another poster, but I have to add this worked for me. I'm trying to change up my eating to 30 30 40. Before I was just trying to eat healthy & w/ in calories. I'd have a bowl of cereal for snack at night. The last two nights I've been going w/ the protien snacks (nuts, turkey) and found it's light...don't go to bed with a heavy feeling...I feel less bloated in the morning (I don't know if it's because of the diet). But in just the couple of day of change I can feel my metabolism working... Now if I can just get the scale to budge...but I think I may not be eating enough calories. I'm still trying to figure out the best intake/output for me. |

happy thursday! so yesterday I finished w/ 1440 cal intake & 1770 cal burned = 330 decifit. I've been weighing in and all week the scale won't budge. I'm wondering if Ineed to up my cals (doc said I should be at 1600), but it hard when my burns seem so small. I have been refocusing to try for 30fat 30protein 40carb. My body was most efficient w/ this back in my 20's when I was really into fitness. I do feel my metabolism moving quicker. Today I did 1hr jillian michael's no trouble zones b= pb & ff cream cheese on ww slider roll +coffee w/ cream & sweetener = 368 ms = juice & almonds = 240 l = salad (lettuce, radish, chick pea & tuna) w/ ff dressing = 270 as = mini popcorn bag = 100 d = tba es = tba |

Good Morning. So yesterday I my cal intake was 1486 and activity ended at 390. I don't remembe and cant look back at total deficit...I think it was in the 300 range. This morning I did 1hr Jillian Michaels Boost Metabolism... b= 2 slice ww lite toast w/ pb & cheese (odd but good & trying to up my protien), oj, coffee w/ skim milk & sweetener = 366 I'm finding the little bit bigger breakfasts keeping me going longer...and I tend to skip my morning snack. l= marie callendar shrimp & pasta + sf ff pudding = 400 s= I may find something in the honor box...or some special k cracker 17 @ 90cal d= tba. I'm thinking big salad using up leftover turkey, not sure yet though. qmwill- Friday was yummy. I find my pattern to be work out like a fiend su-th, off friday and cheat/eat. I'm doing better with not cheating all weekend. Even though I don't count I've been better w watching consumption and portions. |

I've been m.i.a. since Friday. I was pretty good over the weekend. Friday was my bad day (mexican for lunch & chinese take out for dinner) and it was my day off working out. When I fall off the wagon...I do it right. Sat & Sun I think I was good w/ cals even though I didn't count. This weekend I just got back my weights...when we moved my bil took them to his house. I'm syked about getting them back and started using them last night. Yesterday I did count & work out but just didn't get on =1261 cal intake & burned 1770 = 500ish deficit. I was a little low on calories, but making up from weekend bloat...damn that general tso chicken was good. Today I rode my stationary bike while lifting weights. b= cereal w/ trail mix (trying to up my protein), skim milk, oj, coffee w/ sweetener= 444 l= turkey sandich on light ww, light mayo & small salad = 305 s= fiber one yogurt = 80 I'll probably go for 1400-1600 cal today. d= tba, I bought these individually frozen lemon pepper pork chops. I'll probably make them w/ a veggie. I've been eating salad & herbs from my garden every day the last couple weeks. I love it. Good luck to everyone. |

I'm in a similar boat. But am finding even with all thew cc (I weigh & measure food diligently) & I have been working out...even bumping up intesity in last months (I've been at this 3mths ish) the scale will go down slowly, but I've recently notices it bumping up...that's because I'm building muscle and losing inches. I had to reprogram my goal from the number on the scale to the shape/tone and size I want my body to be...It's hard because I do still think about the number on the scale but try not be fixated on it.
good luck |

Original Post by vyperman7: viperman I love your hiit posts. I've been reading them the last couple days. I agree. This what I do. Your so focused on the shorter spurts of exercise (then switching to the next) that it does not allow time for boredom. I do normally have the tv on for background noise...or actuallyI use the clock on the morning news to help time my intervals (I set a timer for my entire workout because I can only alot so much time for the entire workout) |

TGIF- So last night I ended up eating pb on light ww toast w/ 1c choc milk. It put my total intake at 1658 and I did end up burning 1970 for the day. I was trying for the 500 cal deficit, but after all my running up and down steps I felt I needed something more replenishing then a popsicle. So my deficit was 312. Today is my day off working out. Although I look forward to it. In fact part of me getting through yesterday's workout(s) was knowing I'd have today off. But now I feel like I should do some sort of activity. It's cold and rainy today so I can't take dd to playground. And even if it was nice I have an appointment after work so I couldn't even if I wanted to. B=xl cup coffee w/ creamer & sweetener & oatmeal= 169. l=ordering in or going to fav mexican restaurant for lunch s=tba d=tba I'll probably go light for the day because the mexican is my cheat/treat. Good luck to every one monkeyhippy- what's your goal? your pic is amazing? |

good evening. d=441cal =chicken, eggplant, fire roasted tomato, potato, garlic & herbs from my garden...I'm loving my garden I feel like I want to try to burn another 100-200cal. I may do some extra workout tonight...the playground is rained out. Tomorrow is my day off working out woo hoo (also the reason I want to burn a few more calorie tom). I think we're hitting my fav mexican takeout for lunch. I'm at 1339 for the day thus far...& thinking of a fudgicle for snack. I'd like to be about 1400 today...thus far my burn is going to be 1770 (so I'd like to get to a 500cal deficit for the day).

Years ago I read that egg yolk was good for you face. So back then I would separate the egg, eat the white and put the yolk on my face. Funny to remember. It was funny when I did it. A girlfriend of my did it too. I literally had egg on my face. After my workoute. I'd put the yolk on first so while cooking and eating figured I'd get the skin benefit out of it. Then I'd shower. |

A couple months ago on what not to wear there was a woman who had lost lots of weight but couldn't see past her old body image. Stacy & Clinton drew her (had her stand against a wall and drew her outline) so she actually saw how much smaller she was then what was in her mind (or what she used to be). I always thought that was such a great thing. Maybe using a large piece of paper and doing something similar (I imagine most people won't draw on their walls) might help. I've always been thin (maybe up or down a few lbs) but always have had low self exteme and poor body image. My current life style keeps me busy enough not to notice it so much. I have good days and bad...like everyone else... But what ever you think your outside maybe you are a beautiful inside and that does reflect outward. |

I bought this cheapy Sportsline blue plastic one at Walmart (under $10) a couple years ago. To set up you do put in your stride lenght and height and weight. I've watched and it does log each step...I was amazed at the accuracy for being so cheep. I used to wear it all the time (I walked a lot at old house) and was trying to get 10000 steps/day. As far as the calories burned. It does have this function, but I don't know the accuracy of that. I recently found it at bottom of my junk drawer...it still works... and want to reset for current weight and see how it goes. |

Good Morning. Last night I used up my cajun catfish in a sandwich w/ homeade tartar & a salad with lettuces from my garden. I'm so excited I'm able to pick from my garden now. It's organic (first year growing organic). I know exactly where it's from. I did invest in a new salad spinner...good thing. Any way dinner was 562cal. For some reason last night and the night before I fell of the wagon with snacking. I don't think it was emotional. I was hungry. Even though I did yoga & pilates in the morning I didn't feel like I burned enough calories. So while dd I did 5 min plank, push ups & tricep lifts (I used side of tub to creat different levels of resistance). I also simulated jump rope for about 5 minutes. Today I have to get back on the wagon...less night snacking. I'm hoping to make better choices during the day. This morning did 1hr jm boost metabolism...It's the 3rd, 4th time and I notice it getting a tad easier...not easy by any means but a little easier. I like her workouts and may try some others...I prefer hr long workouts...her 30 min don't quite do it for me...and I end up having to do more. Anyway according to cc I burned 406cal this morning...good start to my deficit. B=cottage cheese, egg w/salsa & crackers + coffee, sweetener & skim milk=339cal s=fiber one yogurt= 80cal l= turkey & american on light ww w/ mustard & lettuce + carrots+mini sunchips+ peach =374cal s=mini popcorn bag=100 d= tba...maybe pork Good luck to all |

Congrats! I worked out until day before dd was born. I was in the gym on treadmill, spinning, yoga, swimming and lifting weights until 8.5mths pg. But then dh opened our pool so the last part of my pregnancy was swimming & water workouts at home. If you take yoga (not specifically prenatal) make sure to tell instructor, because you will be given alternate poses for some poses If you work out now...do what you're doing. You will have to pay more attention to your body and not let yourself get dehydrated (helped bring on braxton hick contractions for me). Don't push too hard though. Eat properly & Exercise! It absolutely helps w/ delivery and recovery process. I was lucky to only have about 5lb to lose after dd was born. I was also bouncing off the walls at home and got the green light from doc to start water work outs & swimming w/ in a week after delivery. Good luck |

Checking in with my activity. I'm putting belly dance video off until tomorrow morning. Today took dd to playground for an hour. I probably "played/exercised" 30-40 minutes of that. I don't know if pushing her on the swing counts...but I did play on the monkey bars, did push ups, reverse crunches & dips and climbed around on equipment. Dinner was catfish soup I concocked the recipe...it turned out good and was like 485cal? I ddn't eat all the broth plus I think some of my ingredients were slightly lower in cal than cc. While dd was in the bath I did some 30 min of intervals alternating 30 sec of run/jump/march or punchs in between intervals of squats, dead lifts, calf raises & crunches. The sweat was pouring off me. I think it was a good workout for what I could squeeze in. I don't know if I'll hit my 500 cal deficit. As of now I have 1254 cal eaten and according to cc will burn 1680. I'm sure there's a snack in my future. I loved the icecream w/ vanilla almonds last night and probably will have it again. I'm always leary of the calorie burned on this site because I have my activity level at sedentary and log activy...I see other posts and so many have higher burns then me. I've also noticed that other site have me at higher cal intake too. My doc say for me to do 1600, but it's hard sometimes to wrap my head around that my burn for the day will only be 1680...leaving me with only 80 burned. Sorry for the vent, but it's frustrating. On the flip side, my body is finally doing and shaping up the way I want it. I'm building muscle and losing inches and was comfortable in my bikini Sunday. |

Happy Tuesday. Last night hit the grocery store w/ dd. I decided to log the 1hr walk (listed as slow) sometimes I do and sometimes I don't log that kind of activity. Any way that put me 424cal burned from activity. I've been trying to get 500 cal deficit...especially on the days I'm working extra hard. Last night dinner was awesome (i love to cook on grocery day because there are so many fresh things) Mussels w/ spaghetti, marinara, garlic, spinach & mushrooms. It was only 453 cal and so yummy and filling. I finished the night w/ light icecream 90cal sprinkled w/ vanilla almonds 80. My total cal was 1352 and something like 1750 burned for the day. I still am confused with the cal burned meter because I never know to believe it's accuracy, plus other site and my doc have me at higher cal intake. Looking at it yesterday was a little light on cals but I was very satisfied. This morning i was down 1 more lb. YIPPY!. I think though that I'm gaining muscle weight because my lbs are up a little, yet I'm losing inches and my tone and shape are finally getting super close to where I want them. Wow sorry for the long post... Today I woke up late so didn't work out. I'm planning to do 60min belly dance video. b=2egg whites w/ salsa & cheese on ww roll w/ coffee, skim milk & equal=272 cal s= fiber one yogurt=80cal l=lean cuisine potato w/ broccoli & cheddar, strawberries & ff sf choc pudding=311 cal s=mini kettle popcorn = 100 d=cajun catfish and not quite sure what to make with it. Happy Monday! I'm terrible at posting over the weekend too. So friday the carnival got rained out. So I took dd and 2 nieces Saturday. Even though I didn't cc this weekend. I'm fairly certain I stayed w/ in my calories...I may not have made the healthiest choices (mcnuggets, fries, icecream), but I did pretty well because normally weekends I fall off the wagon. I also had a fair amount of activity despite no formal excercise (fri- day off working out...sat played w/ dd at playground 1.5hr + 3hrs walking around carnival (at some points carrying dd which is an extra 30lbs...sun took dd & nieces to local swim club. I decided to go with the bikini...I've been trying to get myself to be okay w/ wearing one...my 12yo niece said it looked okay and she wasn't embarrassed by me wearing it...Played w/ kids in pool & playground for about 3.5 hrs. This morning I woke up 6a first thing I did was weigh myself...to see what damamage to diet may have occurred over weekend. I was down 1lbs. I think my feverish workouts last week paid off...after ttom finished and bloat left...I'm looking pretty cut...not meaning to be vain, but it's what my goal is. Today- rode stationary bike 35minutes while lifting 10lb weights for biceps, triceps, shoulders, chest & rotator cuff. I also did 200 side crunches with weights and would sprint 30 sec, mountain climb 30 sec then sprint 30sec between the weight and crunch sets. Then I did 100 crunches w/ pilates ball and stretched. b= cottage cheese, sprinkled w/ puffins cereal, oj, coffee w/ creamer & equal = 282cal l= lean pocket (whole grain crust w/ chicken & broccoli & cheedar) + spinach & olives salad dressing = 344cal s= rice krispy treat = 100cal d= tba after work & daycare we are going grocery shopping... in serious need of fresh produce...I think I'm going to start picking the spinach, lettuce & arugula out of my garden but will have to think of a protien & starch to go with. Good luck to all... |

| Fitness | I HATE cardio - is that wrong? | May 29 2009 18:58 (UTC) |

I'm not a huge fan of the cardio. I have always tried to get it over with as quick as possible and get on to other exercise I like better (abs & weights). Even when I was young and somewhat of a work out freak cardio was neve my favorite just used as a vehicle to get my heartrate up to move on the next thing. I am not a runner either (aside from running in place at my house). On the outside i'm slow and terrible...my best time was in high school when my lacrosse coach cut anyone w/ over 10min mile. I just hit the 10min mile...and was dying. But you can find a cardio that you like better that others (for you walking/hiking). I love to swim, I like the eliptical machine but can't fit one in my house and can't get to a gym. I'm only left with what I have a 15 year old exercise bike and my feet...so I ride, run in place, run up and down steps or jump rope/jacks. Just do what you can do and get through it...some may grow on you too... |
