I think this is a great thread, I've followed it on and off for the past few months and I think it has helped me stay motivated (at least more motivated than I would have been all alone). I've recently started to blog about my goals, with the idea that it would help me stay accountable to someone other than myself, but for that to work I need people to read it... If you're interested check it out, it could be a great way to help encouarge and motivate each other.

I started a blog about my goals so that I would be accountable to someone other than myself. Unfortunatly for that concept to work I need some people to read it. If you're interested, check it out. I'd love some feedback.

I love this site, I think its been really helpful for me as far as answering questions and jumpstarting my fitness/diet routine. I also think that keeping connected is a great way to stay motivated. Its also wonderful to recieve positive reinforcement from real people living real lives, unlike the completely rediculous advice and tactics you read in so many magazines. I recently started a blog to help share my stories and setbacks, and to hopefully encourage others and keep myself motivated! Check it out and let me know what you guys think!

Hey everyone,

I am thinking of trying South Beach. I haven't had success with anything else, but I know its going to be hard! I am a carb ADDICT and I'm not a huge fan of vegetables. So any recipe suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. I know some friends who did South Beach and it worked so well for them, I'm really hoping I can find the same kind of results.

Weight Loss 120-130 lbs = What Size Apr 15 2009

This is a tough question to answer but maybe some brand names will help... I am 5'1" and about 125, right now I wear a 4 in most pants but if they are from Old Navy or Target it's a 2 (love that vanity sizing!).  But I also have an hourglass shape and carry my weight fairly evenly, I know my sister weighs less than I do, but carries it in her midsection and her pants are about the same size as mine, but she has very thin legs and arms.

Again, thank you all so much for your advice and encouragement. I'm actually looking forward to going to the gym in the morning! And I defintely have a better plan about what I need to do change my habits and hopefully see some results.

Motivation I hate my frikkin' scale! Apr 06 2009
16:36 (UTC)

I think getting rid of your scale was a great decision! Using the mesauring tape will definitely help you stay motivated, it may take longer to notice results sometimes with measuring vs. weighing, but I think it isn't quite so skittish. One crappy meal or a few pounds of water weight from your period or something isn't going to show up nearly as drastically in measurements as it does in weight.

I know just how you feel! Don't worry, I'm having one of those days (or months, really) but you know it will get better! So you went to McDonalds, its not the end of the world, and you don't have to feel bad. Just know that tomorrow you can start fresh. I actually SKIPPED going out to dinner with friends the other night because I couldn't find anything in my closet that fit right - so you are definitely not alone.

Wow! I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I never imagined I would recieve so much support from a website I've only been using for a few days. I know that one thing I have definitely been lacking in my plans in the past is support, so hopefully this will be a very positive step forward for me. Here are my stats:

Age:23

Height 5'1"

Weight 127

Goal Weight 110

For most of my adult life, from graduating high school until a little over a year ago, I was very comfortable at around 110 lbs I generally ate healthy but didn't count calories, and I worked out occasionally but usually just relied on a few fun workout DVDs I enjoyed, and then going for walks, bike rides, and living a generally active lifestyle. I know my diet changed and I became more sedentary as I started my last year of college and was much busier and more stressed. Which is when I gained about 15 lbs over the course of 6 months. It was this time last year that I decided I wanted to change that and began following weight watchers points (I never joined officially, but used the info my mom had from being a member - it helped her lose 20+ pounds). It never really worked for me, neither did working out - I tried just cardio, just weight training, and a combo of both and again, I had more energy but no weight loss. I guess over the last few months I've tried a hodge podge of things with no real plan, since following the strict plans for the first months didn't really produce results.

Right now I am without a real plan or routine, which I know is bad, so again, any help or advice would be so very helpful.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH,

Amanda

Just wondering if there is a regular weigh in day or if I should just chose one day during the week to do my weigh ins? A little discouraged as when I weighed myself this morning I have gained nearly two pounds! Don't know what I'm doing wrong, or what I could be doing better...

Hi everyone!

I would love to join this challenge.

I feel like I'm in the same spot you all are in. I'm little, barely 5'1" and I've gained weight over the last year with the stress of finishing college and job hunting, etc. I'm now determined to get back into shape and to start eating healthier. Right now I am 126 and I would LOVE to get down to 106, but would even be thrilled with 110-115 so that my old clothes would fit again! I'm new to the site and a bit overwhelmed, but I've read through the posts and you all seem so motivated and encouraging!
