I don't like to go to the gym either because I am self conscious about my body.  I find working out with just women helps.  I take an exercise class only for women every morning.  There are still women with perfect bodies there but at least there aren't any men comparing us.  It's a little thing but it helps me to worry less about what others are thinking and focus on getting a better workout.

Wow.

Suppose it has, I've been around the same weight for a while, I could lose if I cut out snacks.

But the toning is what I want to know about

Weight Loss I consumed over 7400 calories in one weekend :( Aug 30 2009

1lb of fat = aprox. 3500 kcal.

7500/3500 = 2.14 lb of fat from calories.... assuming you didn't do anything that day! Now, your resting metabloic rate is probably anywhere from 1200-1700 kcal per day... Plus, you said you were going to a party, how much were you moving about? Move than you think, I bet.The actual amount of calories consumed that were not burned is probably only around 2000 for the weekend, not even a pound.

This isn't the end of the world. Remember; you can't lose weight overnight, and you can't put it on over a weekend.

The best thing to do is to stick to your calorie target, and drink lots of water. You'll be fine.

You've had a shock and it's resulted in a new determination with your diet. Your mother is also likely to be going through some serious grieving, and the last thing she needs is another emotional problem bungled on top (the guilt of making the wrong food choices). My best advice would be to leave it for a bit, let the grieving lessen, and then sit down with your mother and explain how you feel, your fears about her health and how you're willing to help her. Even show her this thread, and show her how she can use caloriecount as a tool for keeping on track, and how she can use you for extra will power.

Sorry, I just read my post back and it didn't sound how I meant it too - I just meant to say if you are losing to please other people, then you're only set up for failure. But it's good its all for you!

Well done on your weight loss!

I enjoy the numerous scaremongering attacks on the 'socialist' NHS in the UK. Man, I can't believe how biased the news is in America, watching Fox left me feeling violated.  I can't see how anybody can object to a nationwide health care system, when the current system excludes millions of poorer family, indiviuals and the elderly. I've read stories on here about people waiting for months to get a treatments because they don't have insurance... well, for me insurance is for your house, not your body.

I feel much better knowing that I can go out of my house and if anything happens I can be patched up straight away without having to worry about costs and insurance. It;s about time those stuffy fat cat capitalists see the destruction their system has wreaked upon the millions of poor who can not afford healthcare.

Wow... $7000 for acne treatment... I can't believe the NHS is being slagged of in America. I don't know if it's available in America, but I tried Duac once daily cream, it's pretty much worked. BUt if you decide to go on Accuatne - good luck. You could find there are many things worse than acne.

The fact you had to ask shows you know this isn't healthy. Lost the six pounds over 5 - 7 weeks, using CC + exercise. Then, it's way more likely to stay off.

Weight Loss morning binge Aug 12 2009

Original Post by icyflames:

I have a binging problem as well and mind tends to start 3-4 days after starting my plan. I'm on day 3 from starting over yet again within the last month and so far I'm telling myself if I can make it to a week without going overboard, I can do this. I was craving peanut butter this morning and any kind of bread so I made some toast 140c and a tbsp of PB at 90 c. I already had 300c this morning of oatmeal and I try to stay at about 1000-1200 for an entire day.

U picked a good time to binge I say. Now you have all day to work some of that off if you wanted to. Go to the gym and stay an extra half hour and you will be fine. As for eating, stick to lite things such as salad and fruit. Perhaps a grilled chicken breast for dinner after a good workout. Protein helps me A LOT after a binge to get rid of the bloating and water weight gain.

Remember takes 3500 to equal pound of fat. You many have eaten a pound of food or more this morning but from what you said, I highly doubt it comes to 3500 worth of calories.

That's why you're binging.

p_n: Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I know you can't spot reduce fat and that wasn't what I was asking. What I was requesting was advice as to a workout DVD that would remove fat (from all over) and incorperate exercises that would give a more toned appearance in the lower body area - not 'wash board abs'.

I think 33 days is a long enough period in which to see results. But thanks for your 'help'.

mikethedoofus: I have two pairs of dumbbells - 3 kg or 5 kg. Which one is better to get bigger muscles? Because I've learnt you can't tone that which you don't have!

Not really, got a few things to save up for so a gym membership isn't really an option.

I just had two cod fillets, and per 100g there is 17.2 g of protein, and practically nothing else. Fish and meat will boost your protein up, but I'd say 50% carb, 30% pro and 20% fat is a better option if your going to start exercising.

Government guidelines are for normal cases. Yours isn't normal. And it's obvious to anybody that one can take simple precautions to prevent the spread of the flu when traveling - covering your nose and mouth with a tissue/scarf/mask, not sitting in close proximity to people where possible, phoning ahead to ensure there is a private room to sit in whilst you wait.

Of course, it makes no difference to me if you can't be bothered - I offered a suggestion, and you needed it spelt out to you, whilst adding your own dose of rudeness.

It was hardly inane - suggesting you see another GP is a perfectly valid response. Suggesting you go to a walk in clinic is also a perfectly valid response.

I hope you don't mean for your comments to come over as slightly stuck up, but they do.

I am in no way against vegetarianism, it is a commendable choice to make. What I am against is holier-than-thou vegi's who think that because they don't eat meat they are a better person or intrinsically more ethical than somebody who does eat meat.

Weight Loss Another Calorie Question Jul 23 2009

I don't have access to heavy weights - I can't afford a gym membership. I currently use 5kg weights for the 30 day shred. Is this heavy enough?

Another option - but a small bottle, and have it with a glass of ice... then you're keeping it cool and drinking much less of a sugary powerhouse.

just to stick 2 fingers up to the dictatorship which is the free countries we live in.

Perhaps you should look at people's rights [or the lack thereof] in true dictatorships and how they are treated - random, brutal murders, families ripped apart for no reason etc. Then perhaps you might not moan like a little child about a few speed cameras.
