| Weight Loss | I love calorie-count but | Mar 17 2007 03:36 (UTC) |

| I must say the starvation mode thinking really bothers me too. Surely it is individual to each person with regard to caloric intake on any given day or time. I am fairly regularly under 1200 calories a day and I do not have an eating disorder. Some days I am over 1200 calories too. It takes some time for the body to go into *starvation mode* and IMO it is pretty rare.
Of course no one wants to encourage the posters who have genuine eating disorders. They are really easy to recognize. But come on, lighten up on the essential 1200 absolute calories every day thinking. Louise. |

| well I went from a low of 109 in May to 127 as of today! I quit counting and exercising sometime in December. I was 115 on my birthday in November. I would like to get back to 110 and I can do it. I have done it before. So back to counting and exercising daily as of TODAY. I have already done the treadmill and conditioning exercises. According to this site I should be 110 by march 13. I am shooting for a little earlier!

| I had the EXACT same experience at 24 hour fitness. I weighed 110/5'1"and according to the *trainer and his calipers* I was in the obese range, lol. I WAS pissed though because it really was just a sell job. I don't care how little muscle I have there is no way I was *obese* at 110. Asshole!

| both my DH and two sons are over 6 feet and weigh around that. They eat large amouts of food and have high metabolisms. I am SO used to being around skinny guys, lol! I wouldn't lose any weight though, just maintain or even gain a few.

| Weight Loss | Who is trying to lose the last 5 pounds??? | Dec 01 2006 00:38 (UTC) |

| I keep gaining and loosing the *last five pounds*. It seems to me that I just go up and down by 5 or so every few weeks. I love to see the lower # on the scale but honestly I don't look any different with or without the 5 lbs.

| my question is this. Is this typical or just a once in a whiole thing? Once in a while, IMO, is not going to kill anyone. Everyday probably a different story.

| I will probably sound like a junkie but here goes anyway, lol.
I have been on Paxil for migraine prevention for ten years. In those years I gained a lot of weight. However once I decided to go with a lifesyle change I lost the weight. I am now on Wellbutin (highest dose), Remeron (highest) and Paxil due to severe depression. Three freaking antidepressants! Along with other makor meds won't bore you with all the details. I am happy to say that today, my birthday, I weigh exactly what I weight the same day last year. I have kept of 70lbs of my original 75lb weight loss. Louise. |

| at the beginning of my weight loss I lost up to three pounds a week. I was working out, gaining muscle, losing fat. I lost 50lbs in four months. So yes I think 2lbs a week sounds good.

| Health & Support | When does binge eating become an eating disorder? | Oct 25 2006 03:19 (UTC) |

| after losing weight by being VERY strict with myself for almost two years, I have come to realize that I am actually a binge eater. Not enough to make a huge difference to the scale but a binger nonetheless. Ick, I hate it so much.

| Weight Loss | Hungrier now than before the diet? | Sep 30 2006 04:51 (UTC) |
22 |
| I have experienced this somewhat. I am basically in maintance mode, give or take five lbs. I am more obsessed NOW with food than when I was strictly dieting. And I do binge but in pretty small ways (like I will have two bowls of cereal instead of one).Going from 106 to 110 doesn't sound so bad. Are you very small and short? And young?

| I am so very very sorry you were hurt. I have a 12yo dev disabled son. I am hoping one day he will be employable with supervision. If the first man really is dev disabled then I think it is harsh on everybody's part to call him an a**hole.

| Weight Loss | What size do you dream about! | Sep 29 2006 06:20 (UTC) |
210 |
| well if you count back by 2s (as in size 20, 18., 16 etc, ect) it is ten sizes!
I lost weight the old fashioned way. I started exercise every day and changed my eating habits completely. I did try to eat quite a bit of protein and kept my carbs pretty low. And really a size 0 today was a 4 when I was this size 20 years ago. Louise. |

| I have always heard that yo yoing is bad for your metabolism. I was lucky and never did that. When I started my weight loss program/different lifestyle the weight came off VERY quickly and has stayed off. Hopefully my metabolism will hold up as I age, I will be 43 in a few short weeks.

| I grew up drinking tea in Ireland. Maybe that is why back then Irish people never seemed overweight. I still drink decaf black tea daily. Especially before bed.

| Weight Loss | The Thin Pill | Sep 27 2006 01:33 (UTC) |

| this last post made me really think. I grew up in Ireland. I walked everywhere, there was no fast food at that time inmy small town of 4,000. I do not remember ANYONE being fat.
When I went back for a visit last year, I was surprised how people's physiques had changed. Much heavier though not quitelike here yet. Bigger cars, more money, lots of changes. I became overweight because initially I was bedridden with MS AND I ate horribly. In order for ME to change I had to eat in a completely different manner and (thankfully) was able to exercise due to a long MS remission. I am hoping to pass along good habits to my children. We don't eat out much (too expensive with our large family). My kids are very active in sports. We don't drive them to school, it is about a 10 minute walk even though the seniors have cars. We keep a good stock of healthy stuff in the house and, with little else to chose from, they actually eat it,lol. We donot give them money for fast food, if they want that crap they use their own hard earned money. OK off my soapbox. I still struggle with minor eating issues, but overall I think I am doing OK.
