Hiya, Katie!

Click this link...you can see the top songs of the 80's and the artists!  I use it all the time to make 80's compilation CD's!  Select "by the year", and you're where you need to be!

www.alaskajim.com

As well, for the party, don't forget "Aqua Net" hairspray to get the FULL "mall hair" look...LOL.  Granny boots (short), long white blouses with hip belts.  Huge earrings.  When everyone arrives, pass them a coat hanger....aka the tool needed to pulllllll up the zipper on those tight jeans that were ESSENTIAL in the 80's!  (I still shudder when I look at hangers.  LOL!)

Go to 7-Eleven and buy a bunch of "Big Gulp" cups for the party.  Buy those single earrings from the dollar store that are studs with a chain and a clip to your upper ear for everyone.  LOL!  OMG, I almost forgot about those!

And I could go on for days.  LOL.  Can you TELL I was a teenager in the 80's??!!

Just DON'T FORGET THE SONG "HEY MICKEY" BY TONI BASIL!!!!!

I don't suffer from the conditions you do, but I do manage to get myself incredibly stressed out (almost in a panic) at some things.  (Suing for a personal injury and having to sit in front of a big, scary judge and answer any question he asked me...OH MY GOD, I thought I was going to FAINT!).

What I do when I can forsee stuff like this coming?  Change my mindset.  The best thing to do, for me, is to turn it around and make myself believe that I OWN that business I'm applying for a job at.  That I'm testing my employees (interviewer) on their ability to hire suitable employees for MY company.  Of course, go in not acting like you're THE BEST (you DO still have to sell yourself), but look at it as an opportunity to test THEM.

I know.  Weird.  But holy CRAP does it work!  I have found myself, while trying to get a job or get the result I wanted, that when I do this, it REALLY makes the person on the other side of the desk take notice!  And all of a sudden it's OVER, and I'm smiling!  And exhaling.....LOL.

(And...FYI....the personal injury lawsuit....?  After speaking with the judge and answering his questions HONESTLY, he came back from chambers and informed the court that after my "eloquent speech" in the court, he went back to his chambers and DOUBLED all of the monetary compensation he had previously figured I was entitled to.  My lawyer had NEVER seen such a thing, and had never HEARD of such a thing in her practice before.  So you CAN have some control over an intensely terrifying situation!)

THE BEST OF LUCK!!

My Dell died a year ago, and, low on funds, I purchased an "Acer" laptop.  Figured it would get me through till I could afford a "good" laptop.

Seriously?  Not only did it cost me $699 CAN, it is BETTER than my Dell AND the support is SUPER!  So I spent $2000 on a Dell previously that caused me nothing but heartache, and out of desperation bought an Acer.

I will NEVER buy another Dell.  This low-priced laptop has worked better on ALL levels than the Dell did.  If it dies, I'll get another one.

SO worth it!  Good luck!

I would have done the SAME thing.

You gave him many chances to smarten up.  Along with ASKING him to stop.

It's called CONSEQUENCES.  And something that is wrong with society today is that everything is so "touchy feely"....we must "discuss" why he's kicking..."compromise" on his actions....blahblahblah.

Fact is, HE was acting up.  HE was asked to quit.  HIS Mother was sitting right there and did not take care of the situation.  HIS actions resulted in HIS consequences, and if he or the Mother did not take care of the situation?.....

Welcome to society.  Like it or not, agree with it or not, if you're disrespectful to the people around you, and they have tried to "compromise" or "solve" the situation to no avail?

You're going to get KICKED.  Kid or not.  C'est la vie.

It's not my Thanksgiving today (I'm Canadian!), but I am truly thankful!

  • I'm thankful for my family...they mean the world to me
  • I'm thankful for music...it truly helps form my days into something positive
  • I'm thankful for running water, powered lights, a flushing toilet, and a very very warm, comfortable bed
  • I am truly thankful for all that I have, and know I am very blessed
Happy Thanksgiving, my neighbours to the south!!

LOL...thanks, athena!  One can only wish, hmm?  :oD

I've been blessed with many RAOK....too many to mention.  But the one that I always seem to remember first...I had just gotten home from the hospital from a very serious back operation.  I am a single Mom, and at the time had two little girls (4 and 6).  Not only was I unable to walk, but I was incredibly poor at the time.

I would worry daily...how can I feed my girls?  I cannot even WALK!  The thoughts of living on microwaved food indefinitely was horrible.  One evening, around supper time, all of a sudden.....I heard my garage door opening....?  What the...?  Next thing I know, my front door was opening (left the door unlocked so visitors could just come in so I didn't have to get up), and a good friend appeared.  She had a complete warm meal, including beverages and dessert, for us!  And she fed the girls.  And every night after that, someone from her church (people I didn't know) would arrive at 5:00 p.m. sharp with a warm supper, and feed me and my girls.  :)  This continued for almost a month.

And the garage door opening....?  I would hear that periodically from time to time during the next year that I struggled.  It appeared that everytime the door would open....my freezer in the garage would be filled with food.....by people I still don't know of.

*Smile*  Thanks, people....this has helped me greatly today.

My name, obviously, is Laurie, but my Dad has always called me some form of "George".  Had me believing, when I was six, that when I was born, the doctor told them I was a boy, so they called me "George" for three weeks...then the doctor phoned and said, "OH!  We made a mistake!  You had a girl!!" so they called me Laurie.  :oD  (Talk about MESSING with a six year old's mind!!)

George, Georgette, Georgettaville, Georgina, Curious George, George-Anne (Anne is my middle name).

My Dad STILL calls me "George".  (I'm 40).  He'll start talking to me in a group of people, and they'll all be looking around, like, WTF??  Who's George??  *Laughing*  And he doesn't catch on...he'll look at THEM looking at HIM, and say, "What's your f***ing problem??"  LOLOL!!

My Dad us UBER cool. :oD

Broke our hearts about the recent news...but, it's a learning experience.  For my girls.  A good example of "having it all" and the choices you make that can threaten it all.

Lots of thoughts on the subject, but won't get into them here.  LOL.  I know NOT to do that anymore on CC!  ;oD

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 3 years and I love him to death. He is perfect in every way, he does anything for me, makes me laugh, is so sweet, I want to have a family with this man.

My opinion is probably not going to be super-popular, but I don't care.  I looked at what you wrote....above...and that ALONE is something to work to hold onto.

Good people/men don't just POP UP out of the woodwork when you want them.  The money thing?  HUGE. However.....workable.  My best friend went through something similar, and was distraught because of it.  His lack of telling her.  We talked...and I told her she should ASK him what he felt he would need, moneywise, every payday in order to take care of his "incidentals".  With my friend, her hubby wanted $200.  Every two weeks, to spend on whatthehellever.  The credit cards were left at home.  He agreed to this for three months.  In that three months she had saved $3000 of his income, and gave him the statement to the savings account.  He was STUNNED.  And they haven't looked back.  :oD

We have to remember that a LOT of people don't have a CLUE about money.  Seriously.  It's like cooking.  You either know how, or you burn and destroy EVERYTHING.  LOL.  Baby steps.

My dear, I've been married to a man that was VERY good with money.  PERFECT credit.  Didn't have ANY wants.  But he was also verbally/emotionally abusive, and disrespectful/demeaning to both my girls and myself.

I would have given ANYTHING to have what you have.  Someone that truly cares.  Money sense?  Can be LEARNED.  (Especially with incentives like a growing savings account!).  Abuse?  Harder to UN-learn.

Hope this gave you something to think about.  Good luck.  (((HUG)))

Someone who can hold a lengthy conversation about anything from organized healthcare to whether Fred Flinstone ever wore shoes.  :o)

Someone who is close to his family and ranks them high on the "priority" list of life.

Good hygiene.  I can deal with all SORTS of other things, but hygiene is tres important!

Wicked sense of humour.  Enough said.  :o)

Physically?  Don't really care.  But if they weren't in the best shape, the desire to make positive choices is essential.  Someone who just lays around all day and says, "I am the way I am.  Take it or leave it." and is satisfied with that....no thanks.  Someon who is out of shape but has the DESIRE to become healthy?  No problem!  :o)  Can work on that together!

Someone with SOME sense of basic style.  GQ material not needed, but the whole sweat pants/stained Hooters t-shirt/lumberjacket thing??  NADA!

So there.  :op

I posted this just for entertainment's sake.  Not to annoy people and send them on an investigation to prove it all wrong.  It was just meant to be interesting.

Pretty sad that you have to write a disclaimer, "Some/all/none of the following could/might/might not be true.  Read at your own risk.  This is not meant to annoy people/motivate people to, once again, disprove ANYTHING written on CC purely for fun."

Pretty soon an entry saying, "Morning!  How's everyone doing today?" is going to be dissected/singled-out/proved wrong.

Case in point why SO many people don't engage in forum activity.

Unbelievable.  But true.

Hmmm.  I think you need to read what you just wrote, and figure out what you would tell your best friend if she told you that.

Don't count on HIM growing up.  Why would he?  He's gone from Mommy's pocketbook to yours.

Both of my parents have smoked since I was little.  They have stopped on occasion for a year...two years...but presently smoke.  (But making plans to stop again.)

I have never smoked.  I remember all too well the feeling of being in a car with the windows rolled up with both of my parents smoking.  Both my sister and I have adult-onset asthma.  My sister will blame my parents at every turn for her asthma, will treat them like they have a deadly contagious disease.  I don't.

I have seen my parents STRUGGLE incesssantly trying to quit smoking.  My Mom has tried hypnotism, the patch, gum, books, accupuncture, Zyban, you name it.  It's not for the lack of trying.  I respect HER, therefore I respect HER DIFFICULTY with her addiction.  And I feel bad for her and my Dad.  They want it SO bad....but unfortunately, they have an addiction.  But they keep trying, and I also respect THAT.

I cannot wait until January 1, 2008.  Here in my province, there is no smoking in bars/clubs as of January 1st.  That is exciting to me!  I just went out a couple of weeks ago to celebrate my birthday, but had to come home at 11 p.m. because I had an asthma attack in the bar from the smoke.

FINALLY I will be able to go out and celebrate all night if I want to!  :oD
