I'm personally more encouraged by the way my clothes are getting looser. If I just went by the scale, I'd give up. It moves so slow. You are doing a really great job. It makes me think I need to be more on the ball. Thanks for writing this post. |

I forgot to specify: I hate banana shakes. The ones I'm looking for are like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry etc. |

I buy the Quaker Oats Weight Control packets. They come in individual serving packets. Also pretty much any whole grain bread with light butter and fruit would be a good breakfast. |

I like iced tea that is made with green tea. I usually drink the diet kind, but the regular doesn't have a ton of calories. Also I'm not sure if it has artificial sweeteners or not, but I like the special k protein water. Maybe you can check that out. |

| Fitness | Elliptical for HIIT | Jun 27 2009 05:10 (UTC) |

You can do HIIT with just about any aerobic training equipment. The eliptical that you have is fine. I like the eliptical because it's low impact and burns a lot of calories in a shorter amount of time. |

| Weight Loss | What have you learned from being overweight? The silver lining. | Jun 21 2009 07:24 (UTC) |

I've learned that no donut will taste as good as thin feels. I haven't lost much but I'm grateful for what I have lost so far and will continue to do so. I've also learned that doing it for the approval of others doesn't work. I need to do it for the approval of myself. |

| Weight Loss | What does it take to loose 2lbs per week? | Jun 21 2009 07:21 (UTC) |

If you don't do strengh training already, you should consider it. More muscle = More fat burned during rest. Plus it makes you feel good and stronger, no matter what the scale says week to week. |

| Motivation | My boyfriend is trying to sabotage my diet! | Jun 21 2009 04:07 (UTC) |

Original Post by kaetlynm: I agree 100% with Kaetlynm on this. He can't make you do anything. He can influence you, which he has, but definately can't make you unless he is holding you down and shoving micky d's down your throat. I agree with the other posters as well. You need to have a heart to heart. If he says he will be supportive and acts supportive from that point forward, then that's great. If he says he won't or says he will but still seems to be sabotaging you, bail out. He may try to appease you by telling you he will support you but won't. You are in pain again. That's enough to tell you that what you are doing is not the right thing for your health. Do the right thing for your health and if the boyfriend is a support system, keep him. If not, find a new one. |

| Fitness | would LOVE some advice! : ) | Jun 19 2009 01:20 (UTC) |

First, ask your PT for his/her advice on your routine. My opinion/guess is you are eating too few calories and have your body in starvation mode. Add 100-200 calories to your diet and see if that helps. So despite building muscle from your heavy routine, your body won't let go of the fat underneath. You shouldn't completely stop your weight training, but doing more reps with light weight is a better method, especially if you are a woman. Doing heavy weight with fewer reps does give you a bulky look. |

| Health & Support | How long does digestion take from mouth - to end? | Jun 03 2009 02:51 (UTC) |

The food you eat that goes down your esophagus is called a bolus. It breaks down to chyme with the help of the acids in your stomach. It then passes through your intestines to the colon. The first part of the colon, the sigmoid, is where a lot of nutrients are absorbed. Water and other nutrients are absorbed all the way to the end until the waste is excreted. To answer your question, I believe it takes more time because meat doesn't have the fiber to slow it down. I'm not a doctor so I can't be 100% sure. I'm relaying to you what I've learned in school (studying to work in health care). |

| Weight Loss | Husband doesn't want me to lose weight | May 13 2009 01:57 (UTC) |

My father used to try to encourage me to lose in one breath and then make fun of me for not doing it in the next. I think he's become more humble over the years because he has to lose weight too now but needless to say that his attitude didn't help. I'm not married and you said it yourself - your marriage has problems. I just hope that you won't let him take you down and you give in to his jealousy and sabotage. Keep going. Throw out everything he purposely leaves out to hurt you and make your own dinner from now on. |

Why are you upset? You just had a healthy baby. Forget the weight for a minute and focus on that. Your body will return to normal when it is ready to. Congrats. |
