Oh no that's horrible! It doesn't matter what size you are or how confident and happy with your weight you are, no-one should be made to weigh in front of others and then have the weight read out. Did they measure bra sizes as well and announce them on the school website??!! I would complain to your parents and to someone in charge at school. I thought my PE teacher was bad for continually slapping everyone's bum! |

Gina where do you find these men? Lawyer/writer guy sounds interesting! Sorry about Kieran, he could have been honest with you from the very beginning so you could decide whether to carry on or not. I love making huge pots of soup or chilli and then freezing them/eating them for the whole week! I've never seen black soy beans though. Or any type of soy beans! I use lentils, pearl barley, split peas and aduzki beans as well as any and all veg I have. Sometimes I do specific flavours like chicken and brocolli, mushroom, bacon and lentil (amazing with cheesey scones! Not v cal concious but a nice treat!) but I normally just throw everything in and hope for the best. I've got a chilli plant with little yellow chillis on it, must use them up soon. Soraya - How's your daughter feeling? YAY for workingout again, the first times the hardest, you'll just slip back into the habit now :) Post pics of your hair i wanna seeeeeeee!! Karey - Good plan getting your husband to hide treats! But can you be sure he is infallible to coercian/bribes/threats of actual physical violence? Also, what's candy corn and indian corn?! In my news, I'm second on the waiting list to change from Adult nursing to mental health nursing at uni and have made some friends so am feeling slightly less anxious though the workload seems to grow and grow and grow. Can't see how I am EVER going to be able to have a social life EVER AGAIN!!

Hmmm good point I haven't written much for a while. I need to start doing that just for myself I think. Reflective writing is also an important part of my course so I should get into the habit. You'll just have to start over with eating clean. You did what you had to when you were ill, you listened to your body telling you what it needed. Now you just need to get back into the swing of eating nice and clean. Make it so you say "tomorrow I am going to eat completely clean and then after that we'll see what happens" then it's not a huge commitment that you can't face.

Haha exactly. I dunno if the holy basil's working really, maybe my tummy does feel slightly less bloated but that might just be cuz I'm eating cleaner and drinking lots of water. Trying to anyway. I am struggling a bit tbh. How are you managing? |

OMG Soraya you're so beautiful!! I'd never even seen at your pictures before! Your hair was beautiful when it was long but I bet it looks just as lovely short, just different. It'll take some getting used to though! I'm growing my hair as well after a serious bleaching incident last year! If you want seasons how about you come to Sheffield and I go to LA? We've got plenty of seasons here. By which I mean that it's bloody freezing! I hate the cold soooo much. I have Reynaud's Disease (basically my hands and feet go numb for ages. V annoying and sore when they get the feeling back http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raynaud%27s_phen omenon) as well and it didn't affect me all summer and now it's got cold again I get it all the time :( |

Thank you :) I've spoken to the uni about changing to mental health and they've put me on the waiting list. I'm #2 so if two mental health students drop out/change courses/whatever then I get an interview to explain why I want to change. So I'm hoping (though I feel slightly mean!) that two people decide it's not for them and drop out :D |

Thanks for everyone's replies. Just to reiterate, I do not have any kind of romantic ideas of how it would be. I did mention in my OP that mental health issues have been my interest and passion for many years. Fidget, Thanks that's pretty much what I was looking for. You've had the experience of seeing things from both sides, patient and professional. I would ideally like to work with younger people with issues such as depression, self harm, eating disorders etc, though obviously my time at university will be a time to explore lots of different settings. I know all about the bodily fluids part and bathing people, I'm not |

Tricia - I am a binge drinker! I've never been the "one glass of wine with dinner" type, I generally don't drink during the week but friday night I overindulge. I'm also an emotional eater. Both are things I'm trying to give up. As for excercise I'd recommend somthing that's a bit different to keep you interested and make it enjoyable. Kickboxing is a good suggestion. Thanks Gina and Soraya, for your kind words and also for the acne treatment suggestions! Just found this site: http://www.adiosbarbie.com/ x |

Hey Soraya, I'm glad you're feeling better but sorry your daughter's now sick :( Sounds like you're looking after her really well though so I'm sure she won't be poorly for long. How old is she? Don't worry too much about losing a week of workouts, we all need to take a week out every now and again to let ourselves rest and recuperate, esp if we're ill. The good: Had a good day at Uni on friday and have got my self organised so I feel less stressed. The bad: My bf and I broke up today. Next friday was going to be our official 1year anniversary. Not sure how I feel really but I think I'm gonna be ok. The ugly: ummmm my horribly awful skin that just seems to be getting worse and worse despite the fact that I'm TWENTY ONE and should not be suffering from "teenage skin" anymore. Gah so sick of it! Going to try and get a doc appointment and ask for the most ridiculously hardcore antibiotics they've got. Hope everyone's had a good weekend and are looking forward to the week to come xx |

Original Post by gi-jane: LOL! Or use all 5 at the same time. Antibiotics are always a good excuse. I've just started uni but I've had this problem for aaaages! Pretty much none of my friends or my bf are students they just like to get hammered of a weekend! It is hard to say no, whether it's for weight or financial reasons. I totally lack self control! Also, it's a lot more fun being around drunk people if you are also drunk :-/ Also can relate to the food thing. I generally just say "I just ate" "I feel ill" "I'm allergic" etc to get round it. Doesn't matter who you are it is NOT socially acceptable to mention diet or watching your weight. Even if you say you just like eating healthily you'll get "But you can afford to eat this" "You don't need to lose weight" etc etc. It's as though people think you're looking down on them because YOU like to eat healthily. Gah, sorry, ranted a bit there! |

Hey Soraya, glad you're feeling a bit better now, hot chai and a book sounds gooood!! I'd take that over buying groceries any day! Cayenne pepper's a good thought, really get's your sinuses clear doesn't it! Thanks for being so lovely guys, I'm a big stresser and I just need to chill out! How's everyone doing today? Nearly the weekend now whoop whoop!! xxx |

Eat it however you want, in pita bread, on salads, whatever. BTW I made some myself (out of necessity, couldn't find any boxed stuff!) and it's surprisingly easy to do. You don't have to deep fry them either, shallow frying is fine, they end up much less greasy |

Original Post by zebraarbez: It'll get limescale off your toilet as well. Drivers of the Coke lorries use it to clean the lorry engines and highway police in US carry a few gallons to clean blod off the highway after car crashes. It'll take rust off a gate and dissolve your teeth and bones. It has a pH level of ~2.5. Hydrocholoric acid found in the stomach is ~pH2. Stomach acid pretty much never gets near the teeth in a typical person but coke is going into your stomach VIA the teeth! I put one of my milk teeth into a glass of coke when I was little. It literally turned into jelly |

Hey, sorry about all that, totally lost it yesterday, really need to learn how to keep my mouth shut (or fingers still or whatever!). I'm just totally overwhelmed by uni. It all seems too big for me, I'm finding it hard to socialise, everyone's younger than me (I'm only 21!). I know I'm different and unique and whatever and usually I enjoy that but it doesn't seem to work in this envoirnment. I can't do anything different though, I only know how to be me! So yeah, basically I freak out a lot. It doesn't help my eating habits at all, I have had some problems in that area in the past and stress doesn't help at all. Soraya, thanks for your words, I do know all this and I am trying to be my own best friend but it is hard, I have very low self esteem. I am trying to work on this but it's hard. Don't even worry about calories and not working out. Sleep is the best medicine. Your body needs to rest so that your immune system can beat this illness. If you were working out all your energy would be going towards that and there'd be none left for your white blood cells to eat the invading cold virus :) |

I can't just let my weight slide it is literally the only thing I can even begin to control at the moment (though I cant even do that sometimes) i keep starting things, like uni work or just little things around the house whatever but i cant finish them i cant seem to do anything atm im so scared i cant handle this its too big for me. i just need someone to talk to but i dont have anyone nobody understands i dont even wanna go to uni counsellers in case they say im not fit for the course and tell my tutors and i get kicked off. when i started i had to have interviews with uni doctors to make sure im mentally and physically capable of practice i cant show any weakness or they will kick me off the course but all i am is a big bag of weakness its only week two ffs how am i gonna make it 3 years? |

Why not make your own soup, then you know exactly how much salt is in it. You can make up a big batch really cheaply then put it into portion sized tubs and freeze them. Then just defrost as and when you need them. You could do vegetable and barley, chicken and broccolli, bacon and lentil etc etc |
