Weight Loss teens: how many calories do you eat? Jul 11 2009

Hi, here is my info!

Age: 13

Height: 5'3 or 5'4, kinda inbetween

Weight: 91.5 (recovering)

Calorie intake: Varies a lot. On inactive days 1600, on high days I eat 2300-2400.

Burn: Around 600-700 a day. 800-900 on active days.

I know I should eat more and I am working on it. I just can't figure out my activity level on the calculators. I run for about 30-45 minutes 5-6 days a week and walk at a 2 mph pace for about 2-4 hours practically everyday. Somebody please help me with the calulator.

Dear everyone,

I am doing much better in my struggle. I have started eating about 2000-2200 calories depending on the day. I am still very active, and am increasing calories on days of extreme exercise. I have been eating healthy and weight lifting to try and gain some weight back. So far, I have gained half a pound! I am happy about my accomplishment.

Tonight was my mom and step dad's anniversary and we had a bunch of seafood. I ate my weight(I know thats not much) in seafood. I logged it at about 2300, which for me is quite alot. I am not sure if I am eating enough yet though. For running 3-5 miles everyday plus walking about 6-7, do you think I am eating enough to gain weight? I average about 2000 a day.

Dear darcyskywolfe,

Thank you for your contribution! I am so thankful for your answers. I am starting to lift weights and upped my calories to 1800 a day.  I am pretty sure I am not malnurished, but who knows. I was on the diet for about 3-4 months, so not super long.  I always tried to eat at least 1200 calories a day when I was on it, but I walked a lot so it was still pretty dangerous. I am going to eat maintenance right away and just deal with the weight gain. If I am lucky, my weight lifting will pay off and I will gain back muscle. But if not, I won't worry a whole lot because I know if I eat right and be active I can gain more muscle in the future and be a healthy weight.

Thanks again!

Dear nycgirl,

Thank you for your help. i have upped my calorie intake to about 2000 at the moment. when I start running i think about 2500-2700 will work, but I will have to experiment. I am going to start lifting weights to see if I can gain some muscle back. I know what i did was stupid, yet again i have never been smart so I expected something like this would happen to me eventually.  Thank you for the help.

Dear clairelaine,

I know my post says nothing about gaining weight because I wasn't planning on finding out how to gain weight from random online people. I just wanted some thoughts on this. I am going to schedule a doctors appointment. I know I am to young and that I have got to be the stupidest person for doing that to my body.

I am not trying to promote Anorexia or Bulimia either.

Thank you for being nice. I appreciate it a lot. I know that there are other people with a much worse life than I, and I am grateful that I am so blessed. The advice helps, and I know that your support will help me. This will pass with time.

darkylinky:

I know that there are TONS of people with much worse lives than mine. I know I'm not special. I'll never know what it's like to have to search dumpsters for food, or walk barefoot on the barren ground. But correct me if I'm wrong, isn't a part of this website about sharing personal experiences and what it is like being a specific age or being in certain situations. I'm just sharing a bit about myself. And maybe, just maybe, someone just like me is reading this for advice because they didn't want to say anything. I never asked for attention, I just hoped for someone to know about me. And out of the kindness of their hearts, these people actually felt empathy and gave me advice which I am glad about.  They are helping me redeem the small bit of dignity and self-esteem I have left. I'm tired of not sticking up for myself, and the bullying of everyone stops now. If you don't understand what I am trying to explain in this post, please do not reply.
