I think you are looking at the tools incorrectly. I'm 5'2" and 140 and I have a resting burn of 1700k. You'd have to be way shorter and thinner to have 1350. I think it meant you want to EAT 1350 to lose the weight at a rate of under 2lbs a week, not that 1350 is what you burn naturally. |

Well, to be contrary... I'm not a doctor. But all my life, when I take Multi-Vitamins, I gain weight like CRAZY. I've tried many different types, but they are all the same. So I do avoid them, personally. But it is NOT something I would recommend for everyone. I only speak for my own personal experience. And everyone's body is different |

Original Post by jazmine24: Same here. I'm not obese, but I'm running towards it. I used to be a dancer and performer, asked out all the time, and always having fun with friends and parties. Now, after quitting smoking, and gaining 45 lbs, I don't want to even leave the house. Clubbing? No way! I can't even think about going to me closet with all my old stuff that I either couldn't fit to save my life, or I do barely fit, but makes me look like a sausage. I love the motivation on this thread, it reminds me that I can get back to that, and my confidence can maybe, just maybe, come back. |

It's a probiotic. Used for heathy digestion. Tastes like yogurt, but smoother. I started drinking it after it was recommended by my nutritionist. Probiotics help amazingly with minor digestion problems. Seriously awesome stuff, imo. I use it with granola or high-fiber cereal in the morning or as a quick drink if I am feeling "snacky" but not hungry. Also would be great in shakes. |

I actually just talked to a nutritionist about this exact thing. She mentioned it is best to eat the majority of the calories during the day, as our metabolism is affected by daylight. They also call the "eat light during the day and feast at night" the Sumo Wrestler diet. That's how they eat to keep all the weight. I started this on her advice and I have a lot more energy during the day and don't wake up so groggy. Not long enough to say about the weight loss apect yet. |

| I love road tripping! I just got back from a 5 week one. It was really tough to diet at first but after that it was easy: 1. AVOID all fast food joints! I know those little signs on the freeway make you hungry for them, but avoid them. Like the plague. 2. As great as it sounds, Grocery stores won't work either. You really won't want to spend the time driving around some town looking for that Safeway you thought you might have seen from the freeway. So instead, you'll stop at some fast food place because at least you can find it. 3. Go to Mom and Pops. It's a great way to take a break from the road, and to see different sights. Also, the soups and salads there are usually 100x better quality. They love greasy foods for breakfast, but they always have an alternative. 4. Avoid big chain sit-downs. They are really good at tempting you with the Oh-So-Delish pictures of those burgers. 5. make sure you are hungry, and not just bored from driving. I found that sometimes I would stop at a place just because I was sick of looking at the road. Ask yourself if you are hungry, if not, there are a ton of rest stops and pull over places so you can get out, stretch your legs, and take in the view. Now I want to get on the road again! Darn gas prices! |

| I didn't lose a single pound just using CC. I am also on WW and I have lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks. Why? I think it's because you cannot just count calories. You have to take into account the amount of Fat and Fiber you are also getting. Limit the fatty stuff period (obviously not all, but fried junk etc), up your fiber, and you should start seeing some results. I did :) | |||

| I would LOVE ot be a part of this. I;ve been 'dieting' for way too long. Mostly, because I was more interested in whining about what I used to look like than actually do anything about it. 5-2 (and 3/4!), SW: 142, CW: 140; GW: 110 I'd love more motivation with you guys! |

| Weight Loss | thoughts on Weight Watchers vs. CC? | May 20 2008 19:07 (UTC) |

| I just started WW (online) this week. I've been doing CC for over two years now and have only gained. About 20 lbs gain. This is because CC is open to whatever you want to eat, and really only takes into consideration "calories." Yes, it does advise eating less sodium, less fat, etc. But the point system is based off of calories of fat vs fiber.
I find on CC I eat less food, but it's fattier or processed foods with less fiber. WW points are fiber friendly and anti-fat. CC says "a calorie is a calorie" one thing though, I do love CC for it's nutritional information. I am excited about putting the two together and seeing how well it works. And ANYONE who says exercise doesn't help lose weight is a big fibber. :D |

| Nicotine/tobacco helps in digestion and helps in your metabolism. I only know 1 person who quit who didn't gain 10-15 lbs. Thing is, it goes away. You just have to keep on it and keep good habits.
Grats in quitting! I'm on Month 10 now and love it! |

| Ug! I know the feeling for trying the diet, and the exercise, to no success. I do not have too many pounds to lose, but they are sticking around and gathering friends. Frustrating!
I started this yesterday, and so far, I'm really happy. Am I losing weight? I don't know, obviously. But I no longer feel sluggish, my workouts are going longer and feel amazing, and I don't feel like "omg, I ate my alloted calories and I'm still starving!" I will never be able to go on the "full dose" because I think I would jitter my way off my chair at work, but finding the dose that worked for me really has made me fairly optimistic about this. And I always scoffed at diet pills. |

| I love Chantix! I am about to hit my 3 months quit date! And I still never want one. I was the hardest addicted to!
I <3 Chantix! In regards to Chantix and dieting. Chantix causes terrible nausea, at least for me. Because of this, I had to eat a moderate size meal everytime I took it. After a sandwich would be ok, for example. That was the only issue I had. There is one other, very important, thing. Chantix helped me get some hope back in my life. I had some confidence in myself and my strengths. I feel that if I could beat smoking, I could beat this weight. Cigarettes were a terrible addiction for me, I am not addicted to Fritos. I can beat this. |

| Myth, likely. BUT, the idea behind it is reasonable. Eating those on the list can help.
The fruits/veggies on the "negative calorie" list are really low in calorie, and high water, fiber content. Heck, you can eat a lot more and feel full quicker with less calories on them. Example corn (not on list) vs cauliflower, (on list): ~156g corn = 132 calories ~156g cauliflower = 36 calories |

| Aonebeach, I have an ultimate goal of 110, though I would be happy with 115. Heck, even 127, one lb loss at this point!!
I personally felt best between 110-115. Everyone looks and feels better at different weights. Perhaps you have more muscle than I, so you look better at a higher weight. |

...... Acymbala, you may be right. I just did an internet search on hypothyroidism. I have all the symptoms. Heck, you even clued me into something I thought was unrelated to diet. My hands and wrists have been tingling for a year, and I don't know what it is. Has anyone else experienced Hypothyroidism? Is this curable? |

| I would eat something else to make it 1200. I just didn't to allow the 2 after-work beers that day :)
I have tried 1400 on my exercise routine, and I gained after a month. So I tried the 1200 and stayed steady (+-.5) for 1-2 months. Anyways, guess there is nothing to do. :) |

| Claire, unfortunately, the thing that got me to thinking about this was a friend measured me recently for some patterns, and I was bigger all over, +3 inches in some places, than the last time I measured.
After trying to diet, 1400c, then 1200c, more exercise, all of it, and see these new measurements....I seriously felt like this whole thing is hopeless. |

| If I did, my spending would start to equal my allowance.
1600 seditary - 1200 + 200 (30 min jog) = -600. This should be what I need. But, as mentioned, I gain weight. And it is not muscle. |

| Yes, the log says 126.2. Blah
Because of the yoga, I drink ~3 liters a day, but that weight goes after the yoga class because I sweat it all out, being the hot yoga. I drink maybe 1-2 cans of diet soda a day. I've had maybe 4 days of allowing a slice of pizza in these three weeks, making the caloric difference only 500 deficency, but otherwise sticking to it. I have not had my body fat tested, as I do not go to a gym, and cannot afford, or know where to find, a good personal trainer. As for the clothes, my 2 pairs of pants that I can still wear, (my old "fat day" pants. How sad.) I cannot wear comfortably after a wash until I break them in. None of the clothes I have are fitting better. I just guess I cannot have any off days, eh? Maybe I can lose a whole pound in three weeks if I do that. :( |

| Weight Loss | Are you anal about logging everything you eat here? | Feb 24 2007 03:54 (UTC) |

| I log everything except water. Including diet sodas.
I log the diet sodas because while they do not have calories, they still have sodium. I like salt a lot, so i have to make sure I keep my sodium under control as well. |

| I also just recently quit smoking. I tried a few things. A combination between replacement habit and exercise works best.
I found what worked best for me instead of munching was using sunflower seeds. The packaged ones have way too much sodium, so I get natural ones in bulk and bake them myself. This also gave me something to do other than smoke :) Make sure any replacement snacking is low low in calorie since you may be doing this as a 'habit' rather than 'hunger' Exercise was by far the best thing though. I now jog almost every day. This helps me feel the new strength in my lungs, making me more proud to have quit, while buringing off calories. I also do more intense workouts at night (bikram yoga) and that also helps tremendously. Bottom line though, it's going to be harder for you to lose/maintain because you have a temporarily slower metabolism without smoking. I have worked at this for 2 months and lost 4 lbs. It's getting faster now, and it will for you. Don't get discouraged!! Quitting smoking is the best thing, and it is worth the extra work to stay in shape! |

| from what I have been reading on here, it sounds like you want a deficit of ~1000 calories. So, 1800 base + 600 extra expenditure = 2400 calories. I would eat about 1400 calories then. But don't go below 1200, I hear. I kinda like that because it keeps me more active to spend over 2200 calories so I can eat the minimum without destroying my 1000 deficit.
I'm kinda new at this so I haven't been able to see if this works, but that's what I am trying! More deficit would mean you may not be losing the weight, going into starvation mode and a few other reasons I've read about. |
