Beb  I won't be watching the show tonight, because I will again attack my clutter! I have to listen to very fast, upbeat music to keep me moving, just like when I exercise at home. Seems that for me, the clutter situation, which is ever-so-slowly improving, is not much unlike the problem I have with controlling the amount of food I eat. I may eat mostly the right foods, just the amounts are not right! So it would appear that there are two main areas in my life to get control over, not just one as I previously thought. Now will I allow this self-analysis to depress me more, or will I use this to motivate myself-lol!

It took me over an hour to attack one small area yesterday. I just "had to" read every document and paper thoroughly, before deciding if it was a keeper or to be tossed out! It would be better to hire a stranger to go through these piles I have so neatly or not-so-neatly placed all over what should be a bedroom retreat! And after I got that one area sorted through, I had to clean it and make sure not one speck of dust or one fingerprint was left! And the self-satisfaction of this accomplishment was almost non-existent, as the overall project has so far to go yet! I'm motivated, just not especially Energized! Typing on here is much more fun and requires very little from me!

Your knee...sorry about it but sounds like I need to come over and step on your toes! Then the pain in the toes will occupy your thoughts and you will forget all about the knee!

I'm suffering greatly from yesterday's nice walk. Even walking around here with my cane is not that much relief, but I can't just spend my time lying down on the bed!

Alice  Thank you for setting me straight about splitting up my walking time. it sounds logical or rational enough too, so will hopefully benefit more now!

I know what you mean about the air-conditioning draft, although I will say that when I was working and had that situation too, I didn't notice it as much when I was enjoying a particular task as when I was just doing routine work. Bring an ugly sweter to wear and when others remark about it, tell them you wouldn't need it if the a/c was not so drafty! (Chuckling here!)

Sam  I bought an excellent book on getting organized, but really, if  you are like me, you already know what needs to be or should be done. Dedicating the time and effort to doing so can be as undaunted as looking at the whole situation and finding it over-whelming! Setting small goals, as I am trying to learn to do or trying to accept doing with regards to my weight, is the key. Being satisfied just enough to keep from getting depressed about the time it will take to reach either long-term goal is what I find especially difficult. Having these two major parts of my life to confront each day seems to be a wee bit difficult for me, but I'm not a quitter, and must keep going. You will get it done! Good luck!

Oh, and I love the Taste of Home series of cooking magazines I have fairly recently organized.  Thanks for the tip on Fix-It-And-Forget-It...crock pot cooking season is upon us here as we enter Fall, and I will check on some goodies in that one! I enjoy the challenge of coming up with lower-fat or healthier versions of recipes, so am sure to find some good ones in this book.

Okay all, have a nice day! I'm off to productively spend the next three hours of free time, before I leave to pick up GS from school! Pump up the volume and look out!

Beb  Pork is considered a White meat, but that doesn't necessarily include bacon...go figure! Good luck with sticking to the right foods and all for that test! My mammo came back fine, no significant changes since last year's, which I think is a computer-generated statement. Pap was fine too.

Have been really busy lately, and walking a bit when I arrive early to pick up GS at school. Today was my one day "off" and I walked around the neighborhood this morning until I was drenched from sweat. Mapped it out by car later and it was 4 miles, so that's pretty good for me for 65 minutes with the cane too. I'm wondering though, is it better to do all the walking at one time or is it more beneficial to split it up into segments of maybe 25 or 30 minutes, twice a day? It might be easier for my hip and back to split it up, but won't if I will lose significant benefits. I had to lie down for a half-hour after showering upon getting back in the house though, which to me is a bummer since it is a waste of higher metabolism!

I'm loving all the cat stories here; what a lot of fun! Would love to stay and chat more, but I need to get a move on it. DS waiting for a ride to friend's on my way to pick up GS before church tonight.  Take care all! ~ jill

Laura  Your pear cobbler sounds divine! I think I could try something like that, but have to omit the nuts...thanks to dumb allergy. Do you have a recipe for this or do you make it by memory? Sounds like a great "comfort food" for the cooler nights ahead!

O wish I could get as motivated as you when I've really gone way off the wagon! 5k, good for you!

Beb  You can save a lot of typing and time by just describing Rick as a "past experience"! No more Rick, do you hear me? Your dinner should have been spent on someone much more deserving anyhow. I laugh at the thought that he wanted to go to a Drive-in...with someone who is "just friends"...would leave me doubting him every time he mentions others who are also "just friends"...maybe he wants to be "friends with benefits", as my DD would call it-Lol!

Shipping is better than trying to keep up with luggage on air-travel, especially toting it. I hate to appear defenseless with both arms full and a backpack too! And Bex is not the only one hoping to drop 10 lbs. by Nov 1!

Alice  Your job sounds a lot like one I had for a few years with the State Dept of Vocational Rehabilitation. A large part was training or re-training those with any kind of disability to find a job or a new line of work due to the disability. I was the receptionist, doing that and staff support too, but often felt useless. I wasn't, but sometimes just felt that way and had that passive stress too. My sympathies are with you! I'm a stress eater...different stress now, but stress is stress-lol!

Kathy  "Just because one has a relationship with another person doesn't mean that lonely feelings disappear".  This is so painfully true! But being healthier sure helps a person deal with it, eh, Beb?

Bonnie Yes, concrete floors are tougher on the joints. Try some shoes that you can wear with gel sole inserts? Or wear spiked heels a day or two and go back to regular shoes...you'll feel better about it-Lol! I don't know how women can wear those things and be comfortable too!

Helene  Thank your son for that lovely link ( http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/). lol! Okay, it helped me for now too. Ouch...who kicked?

Sam  I guess the popcorn burn on your nose gives a new meaning to "getting blistered", or maybe it's just a Southern term? Anyhow, hope it's getting better...and you did put a dab of Vitamin E on it, right? Zinc oxide cream?

Well, time to get going here with my usual Wednesday evening routine and trying to get in some exercise before picking up GS for church tonight. Guess I'll frost the cupcakes pretty late tonight, but I can do that, since I don't fall asleep when I should anyhow! Oh, my Dr's office called and said my PAP was negative...Whew! Now just another week to hear about today's Mammogram results...and yes, it is stress for me to wait on that. Hope everyone is having a good day!  ~Jill

Chris  I Love those Cookie Monster cupcakes in your icon/pic!!! And if I had a more creative mind, I would have made those at some point in time! What a terrific idea! I hope your DD's version comes out just as cute! Cowboy dinner sounds like a hoot! Anyone video record it?

SS's dorm sounds like he rigged it himself-LOL! How will he concentrate on his studies-hahaha! Should prove interesting and challenging for him!

Bex  What a great inspiration outfit that will be to wear to A Chorus Line! I hope you and I are Both successful in dropping 10 pounds by Nov. 1...good thoughts sent your way!

Ohio  Aren't you glad you are not the "other guy", as in the guy who seems to have different ideas of what documentation is for! Hope you have a better day at work tomorrow! Next time, just laugh out loud at such ridiculous replies...and then say that you can't believe that person said whatever it is they said! Or maybe, "S'cuse me? I don't think I heard you correctly. Did you say 'okay'?" Hahaha!

Carol  I remember She-ra...like it was yesterday-Lol! Hope  your weather turns cooler soon! We've had a nice cool break for a couple of days and it was great! I got to GS's school in plenty of time to park in a good spot and get out and walk, and saw another couple doing the same thing within a short time. I look forward to the weather changing soon, but I may have over-done it again, as I am in terrible pain once again...it's so much fun "aging" and having a bunch of stuff go wrong! Grrrrr!

Beb  That description of the cake you made for Kyle makes my Mouth Water!!!

That price for shipping that box of his clothes is really decent! I plan to ship mine like that when I travel to Arizona in November, which will be cheaper than the baggage fee at the airport!

Sorry I missed your post about your not-so-great experience once again with Rick! I think it's safe to say you are too busy for him anymore!

Sam  Where do you live? Sounds like it is great for getting out and about for exercise!  My Step-Dad had a skunk that used to visit his garage and eventually liked it there so much, she had her little babies there too! He never got the terrible stink experience, fortunately, and we often wondered if it had been someones pet at some time. Does Maxie have fun chasing pigeons and rabbits and other little critters? Our dogs used to love that.

I love potatoes and corn too, and they're actually quite healthy choices...if you can eat them Plain-hahaha! Sweet potatoes and squash sound like an excellent alternative...good for you! At last Sunday's church dinner on Farm Day, someone made the most delicious sweet potato cobbler! It was my first time having that, and it's a good thing so many people were there, because otherwise I may have gone back for a second, not so "politely-sized" portion! It's amazing how many vegetables and fruits are made into cobblers here in the South!

Well that's all for now folks, GS has been playing Wii long enough!

Beb  Yeah, I wish you were here now Too! I love the idea of bringing a pad and pencil on my walk! Funny how good ideas flood the mind when we are enjoying something totally unrelated!

Laura  and Bonnie  That Transformers cake won't be so fancy...I only plan to add a couple Transf. figures to the top: DD suggested that is all that I need to do and maybe make a hill for one of them to be on. I am not using a special pan or lots of colors, as GS just wants a "plain chocolate cake with white cake inside"-Lol! All I Do know is that DD is taking any left-over cake home with Her! She always tries to get me to take stuff like that to My house, and we all know what happens to it then, and it's not going to happen that way anymore! I'll take a pic though anyhow, and will post it when I can.

Bonnie  Your sister's 3 dr. appointments in one day sounds exhausting! I hope she doesn't get more bad news! Let us know though, and will continue prayers of course.

Too bad about DH at Sunday's shoot out! Maybe pressure?

Sam Welcome! Your story about Shadow just tickled me! How old is Maxie? Have you ever used the "No Yolks" noodles and either low-fat or fat-free sour cream in cooking some of DH's favorite dishes? Maybe you could substitute half of the ingredients in such recipes without changing flavor noticeably? I make a nice Hungarian goulash, which DH loves, and he never seemed to notice the difference when I changed to making a lower-fat version, but then I don't make it all that often for him to actually compare it to. Usually when I do substitute certain ingredients in what I cook, it seems to matter less when I don't tell him that a low-fat item was used. For example, I just say 'sour cream and noodles' which is about all he needs to know when he asks.

All for now, time to go get ready for my walk and pick up GS, spend a couple hours together before I take him back home! Woo hoo!     ~Jill

Laura  Yes, you have made a very valid point, but I was only trying to say that this fine country of mine is in a mess, just as Kathy's is, but yes, different messes but both a mess all the same, in a manner of speaking. Sometimes I talk in circles, sometimes I don't seem to make my point as clear as I'd like, and sometimes I just waste space-lol! I appreciate your clarification of it though.

Had a lousy day today as far as my fooditude goes, (like this word? food + attitude = fooditude!)  Tuesday will be better though, now that I have nearly finished off the pasta and Italian sausage casserole that I had so much trouble with in limiting the portion that ended up being devoured, as if I hadn't eaten anything tasty in a very long time!Surprised Will plan to drink lots of green tea as I make cupcakes for GS's class. And DD just made a special request for me to make GS's "Transformers" cake a Double Layer! No, she doesn't mean divide the cake baked in one 9"x13" pan, she wants two Full-sized layers baked in two pans! Okay, anything for my GS, right?!? LOL! And DH just informed me he will Not be driving all the way out to where GS's party will be held at GS's  future relative's house, but he's a party-pooper anyhow, when no booze is involved! Is there an abbreviation for Stick-In-The-Mud?Laughing

Sharon  Congratulations on getting Your Own Store!!! With no manager for 4 months, temptation was just to great I guess, for that one employee! Hope this is handled quickly! I think you are just the right one for this store, and with your high level of energy and all your determination, you will only succeed!

With 7 kitties soon to be scampering all about, you will get some more exercise just trying to dodge them! They sound adorable and we are anxiously awaiting some pics, so take some or get GF to do that and Post them, ya hear!?!

Bonnie  I hope all turns out fine and in your favor in your meeting with principal!

Kathy  Japan's recession doesn't sound so afar from what is happening lately in the good ole' USA! Hope better days are ahead!

Beb  Sorry I have been so absent lately, I don't know if it's my imagination or not, but seems my life is more of a whirlwind lately than ever before! Medical situations to handle, back problems, and now GS is sick, with other seemingly crucial things to handle too, just makes me feel like a little hamster on a wheel-exerciser thingy in a cage, busy and getting nowhere fast! Eating has been way "off" for past two days, but I know why and have got to resolve to get back with the program! I think after mammogram on Wed., no; after baking and bringing cupcakes at GS's school on Thurs, I should be able to take time to smell the flowers again! Whew!

Welcome to all the newbies and hope All have a pleasant week and have something to Laugh Out Loud about each and every day!

Hi to Everyone! Another busy week for me and the next will be too, but will stop by to read posts from time to time as able. Seems lots to continue prayers for, and I will. Not sure what the outcome will be, but DH retrieved my 30-yr-old 3-speed bike from attic of his workshop, and while I was doing some yard work, brought me this dusty and rusty bike and left it with me! I couldn't even reach the ground all the way when I got on the seat, as I have officially shrunk 2 inches since I got it! Getting on it was fun as much as it was scary, and glad no one saw me-lol! I will ride tonight, but on the stationary recumbent! GS started preschool and I see him more often, as I am the one who picks him up on 3 of 5 days each week, but overnights are limited now to just weekends:-(  Got my lab results at yesterday's Dr. visit, and total cholesterol is down to 196 now, but LDL went up to 132 somehow, maybe due to medications. I won't take statins, so in the next 6 months, it's got to come down. Major pig roast party to attend tomorrow evening, and GS will be coming along, which is good, since there will be all kinds of people and ages there (pool party too). Will try to fill up on vegies before going, but it's only a few hours after I get back from a memorial service for friend's DH who has gone on to his heavenly home, after battling lymphoma and being in terrible pain for the last two months. So I might have a wee bit of stress eating to battle. And Sunday is a special "Farm Day" at church, with another huge dinner to pick at. I'm bringing a lower-calorie squash casserole and not-so-low-calorie dessert, which all has to be cooked early tomorrow morning. GS turns 5 next week, and grandma is making cupcakes for his preschool class...hope I don't ruin a week's worth of exercise by licking the frosting off the beaters when it's done! Mammogram next week too...more Fun! Have to drive an hour to get to the place, in morning rush hour which I am Not used to either. Next weekend is GS's big party and guess who will be making his Transformers birthday cake? Yep...another batch of frosting on the beaters to resist-lol! Well, it's Friday night and DH has gone to play poker. DS is at his friend's house, where one of their nice dogs chewed up his cell phone last night. So now he is not just without a job and car, no phone either-lol! I have played chauffeur to him a few times this week though, as he's been more actively seeking a job around here where very few, if any, jobs are available. He's been earning some spending money again working on the garage this week. Oh, my steroid shot in hip helped for such a short amount of time, it just makes me angry that I even had it! I really thought I'd be pain-free and able to go cane-less, but that good feeling lasted about 30 hours and that's all! Done with my tirade for now and hope everyone has a great weekend! Whirlwind...Out!

Bonnie  I can't believe the suffering your sister has gone through and continues to deal with! I feel So Sorry for her! I know prayers aren't just hitting a brick wall...but sure do wonder how much this poor girl can endure! Is she being poisoned by something in her environment? It's all so weird...just hope and pray she will soon be much better!

Rebbex My sympathies to the injured! Seems like summer sort of slipped by without stopping to pick you up! Hope you feel better soon too! Try water therapy? Seems like I think it works for a lot of ailments, even if only temporarily.

Beb  Glad your kitties are so much fun and bring you such joy!

I'm not here to say much tonight, sort of just keeping in touch. Have been reading so much newsy stuff here! I've been really very busy and will be this week too. GS starts preschool finally, and I will be the first one to find out how his first day (all 2 1/2 hours of it-lol!) turned out, because I will pick him up after school, and a few more days this week too. I had him with me quite a bit last week, and it was lots of fun. His mom finally cut his hair, so now he looks like a boy once again! And I have one less thing to hassle DD about-Lol! DH is off all week too, but we're going absolutely nowhere-he's just No Fun-boohoo!-(  Steroid shot in hip helped for one day, and maybe I over-did it, because I have been in a Lot of pain ever since! Grrr! Weight's not going up, but not really going down fast enough either, but as expected, I suppose. G'night to all and hope y'all have a great week!

Beb  Just had to get on here and read your post and now I gotta tell you it is maybe better that you and Brian didn't get to meet, because this reconciliation with his g/f was bound to happen anyhow, so at least you didn't waste time and any hope on it!  Thank your kitties for this...they instinctively knew this guy would only end up disappointing you!

Thank you for the nice thoughts!  I'm glad that your getting your passport is  moving right along too!

Chris  When I had my (first) spinal injection, it seemed like it lasted about 8 months, though I was told it might last about 6. It didn't wear-off suddenly, but rather, I slowly realized the achiness was returning and of course now it's worse. I'm not sure why the amount of injections I could get was restricted as I was told, so I don't know if it's because of the rate of progression of the disease or that so much of the drug wouldn't be safe, or maybe even that one would sort of build up a tolerance of it, rendering it ineffective in treating that problem. I do return to this orthopedic surgeon in 3 months though, so I will ask more particulars at that time. Was your hubby given a specific time frame that the effectiveness would last? He should have been told how long it's expectancy is and whether there is a restriction on how much of it can be given, with further explanation. At the time I had mine, I was so happy to have it and have it over with as well, that I just never thought about questioning anything more.

Fruit cream pie...mmm...yum!

Kathy  Your description of the bath is terrific, almost picture it in my mind...but the ladling sounds like too much trouble that a quick shower would be easier, then get in the soaking bath. It's got to be a cultural thing though, as I just can't imagine doing that on a regular basis with DH and "keeping the bath clean", if you get my meaning--hehehe! I still want one though! Love the high-tech of it all too!

Ohio  Good for you on getting up early and mentally ready for that morning walk, but heavy rain is a bummer.  Good for your weight being down a few oz!  My scale is not digital, and though I was considering purchasing one, I think I'll stick with this one awhile longer. I think the loss or gain of ounces would drive me batty and could falsely get my hopes up too!

Beb  You need a camcorder for sure! The antics and entertainment of your kitties makes me laugh as I imagine it all!

In the past almost-4 months since getting serious about my health and weight, I have dropped 3 1/4" from my hips. Yes, lost whatever butt I did have, but the great thing is something I only noticed this morning. The area of hips in the back above the buttocks has lost it's fatty pillows, something I thought would never happen, even after losing the first 20 lbs. And I've only lost 3 more than that so far, but it's with those 3 that this new thing has happened! It really encouraged me since the weight is dropping too slowly for my liking now, but it shows me that all the exercise I am able to do really does matter! So even though DH says Nothing about the way my body has changed - good and/or bad parts - I find I still can find satisfaction in this.  I think I am having a serious emotion here, as I really haven't had a whole lot of personal satisfaction in the body I live in, so this is sort of a first for me, at least for the past 23 years anyhow! And all this after just 23 lbs...and I have another 47 to go, so who knows what I'll feel then!SurprisedWink I know a couple of you on here who started out like me, with so very much to lose, have been through this, though maybe not so displeased with yourself as I, but is this a Normal issue or am I going nuts-o?

I'm right here, Beb, have been reading but no time to post. Will stop now though to jot a couple short ones...So Happy For You that all went so well at Tribunal! Now that this is a thing of the past, you can get on with your life! Woohoo! Check on a Dehumidifier to get rid of some of that humidity! There are several sizes available and are usually less costly than air-conditioner units, and certainly are more mobile. But if you do get an air-conditioner, perhaps you can find a nice one at a substantial savings in Sept. or Oct, and save it for next summer? Glad your kitty woes are over too!

Bonnie  Just had to say a quick Congratulations to our resident Golf Pro Lady! What a gal! Still remembering your sister in prayers.

Sharon  You will do great with your own store...lot of work, yes, but seems this is where you will show everyone your True Grit! I have every confidence that you will actually do better under all the stress that location has, than anyone ever thought was possible!

Carol  You really should send in Somewhere, the story about Bagheera and DH's clothes ending up in the toilet! LOL! To see such a thing must be priceless!

Rebbex  How's the bathroom reno coming along? You'll love your new tub!

Kathy  I will have to research Japanese baths as you describe...sounds like heaven to me too! It's certainly deep enough for some forms of water therapy/exercise too! I could use one here! I'll have to work on that one-hehehe! Seems like it would take a lot of water for a daily bath though, or does it get "treated", rather than drained with each use?  Hope your hubby is in a better mood by Now! Nice to relax for a week, eh?

Chris  Is your hubby's muscle thing anything like those tummy belt that stimulate the abs and with no effort, one suddenly gets a super flat ab? Glad it works for his back!

Alice  I guess the 6 cats would be like 6 kids at dinner...some scramble and get more and others just take their time and have very little and are happy enough. It's a lot of kitty litter though-Lol!

I'm surprised that your hiking pal even can do those hikes His eating style needs a wake-up call...even just 20 lbs is the way it starts so innocently to spiral out of control in just a short time! So they say, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Logical thinking needs logical reasoning, so keep at it and one time he'll "get it"!

Okay girls, that's all for me. Oh, I got a cortisone shot in my left hip today at the doctor's, and he was really pleased with my weight loss and said my gait had improved a bit too! He offered to set appt. for (spinal) epidural steroid injection, but again I declined. Had one already, will wait until can't stand it before I get another, since I was told I could only have about 3 or maybe 4 before surgery would be next course of action for my degenerative back disease-lumbar area. Grrr! Too bad I don't have that Japanese bath to get my water exercise therapy year-round! Or maybe I should just go to Florida all winter! Naw, I'd miss DS and GS too much!!! G'night all, or Good Day, whichever the time is now for you!

Bonnie  I will be freezing some fresh peaches too, and do it as you do, but I will use Splenda instead of sugar. Might also freeze some other fruits too, same way.

Beb  Hope things go well at Tuesday's Tribunal! Hopefully I will get a chance sometime later next week to get on IM with you again...missing that!

I hope your kitty woes get taken care of!

Rebbex  I will thank you for leg cramp advice too, though I rarely get them anymore, and even then, it's only when I've been doing strenuous water exercise for awhile. I have been taking Caltrate at bedtime, but don't recall exactly why I take it then, maybe something about calcium absorption? I will be trying Magnesium Citrate, 300 or 400 mg. at bedtime, to hopefully help with serious insomnia I've had lately. What are your thoughts about this one?

I think some of those ideas sound far-fetched or funny, but I also know the rational reasoning for them, and also, finger pressure below nose on that pressure point is good for easing a few other types of body pain and sometimes to keep from sneezing too.

Ohio  Nice job on Flea Market sales! Wish I could get that motivated! Packing it up and unpacking and pricing and selling is a lot of work! I have made a detailed plan or schedule of sorts, for my big de-cluttering project in master bedroom. I estimate it will take me about 40 hours to do everything! That should make your own job of decluttering sound much better-lol! DH is off work for the last week in August, and then some, so while he is finishing our garage, guess what I will be doing! My reward though will cost him, because I want a new mattress set for our platform-raised king-sized bed, new window treatment, new paint job on walls-which I will do, and maybe more changes too! I should take some b4/after pics, so I can reflect on it and make sure it never ends up this way again!

Kathy  You seem to be having a lot going on right now; I doubt if you've fallen off the wagon very far though. I wasn't able to log food for several days myself, and like you, know it's actually easier to stay with it when logging. Extra exercise or activity is all I know to get back though, so that's what I've been trying so hard to include. Calorie counting is almost unnecessary once in awhile if foods are limited to mostly plain fruits and vegetables and fish or chicken that is boiled, broiled, baked or grilled with nothing added except more fruits or vegies. Yeah, I know, easier said than done. I do good with it for a day or two and that's it.

Sharon  Sort of late on this, but congrats on all your hard work and progress with the Fire Dept. and all you've been able to accomplish!!!

Beb  Glad you went on that visit, even though it wasn't paradise! Hope your kitties get better soon, and you might try enclosing any future products like rice and flour and cereal or whatever, in ziploc freezer bags or in glass jars..stuff we do here routinely. Wow, I haven't been to Toronto in 40 years! I can't even begin to imagine the changes!

Have enjoyed all new pics and though am not commenting individually, have read latest posts and have been thinking about y'all and continuing prayers as well.  I've been really pressed for time lately, maybe too much going on at one time, somewhat stressed too, but otherwise am mostly okay. Going to Orthopedic surgeon who did my hip in 2006, for annual check-upon Tuesday, and have been having some problems with that lately, so hoping for the best. At month's end, will be going to my regular doctor for yearly and results on labs done early in month...have things to discuss with her too. Have spent much time with GS, which is always fun but leaves me a bit fatigued. Hoping everyone has a nice rest-of-the-weekend!

Have been reading posts but no time to reply, but now will do so for a couple of the latest ones....

Bonnie  Love that excerpt from email you got...Oh yeah, we are So Smart! LOL!

Sorry about your sister; she's having such a rough time! Prayers continue...I'd hate to see what would happen if we stopped praying for her!!!

GS will speak his mind, and has no idea he's not saying what you want to hear-lol! I was told by my GS that I was "soft like a marshmallow"!!! Thanks, kids! Embarassed

Robbie  That's no mistake! 119.4--Woohoo!!!Congratulations!

Beb  I've had Yorkshire puddings, but not Stuffed. Sounds Delicious!

Glad things are going so well on the social scene, and that you have an agreement now to be "friends" with Rick from here on out. And it may be "out", since I suspect a time will arrive in the not-too-distant future, when you will be too busy to include him in your schedule!

Go spend time with dad and Maggie...this is something you can never get back again, and will help you sort out a few things too. Go, and have fun, and enjoy their companionship with each other and feel good that dad is not alone, and give them something to enjoy too!

Sharon  Nice to see you stopped by on here and are fine! Yes, this rain is getting bothersome, but is so needed! How's the screening lately? I've been swimming in DH's sister's pool a couple times a week, and in between I try to get in some "water walking" here, which is really good for my joints. Sound system back in Jeep, DS wants to go to a car club hangout later and he doesn't need to explain why...I remember being young and would have done same thing, even though girls doing that were few and far between! (And now, my only limitation is this older body I am living in-hahaha!) This is how I Know that God has a sense of Humor--gave me this body just to Limit My Activities-LOL!-))SurprisedLaughing

Beb  Noise curfew rules? You mean to say you don't think it's okay to have his music thumping till late? Well, what a party pooper you've become! lol!  SurprisedNo, seriously though, he will be back at 10, and will have to listen to me tell him to turn it off on our street. Although, earlier, when I was the driver, I did have it on all the way home-lol! Oh, and these big subs are not speakers. Do you know what a "tweeter" is? That's what they are--sub-woofer/tweeters. He did put two little speakers in the car though, about the size of a softball, so it hasn't been wired to ruin my Jeep's factory speakers, one of which he "blew" long time ago. Good thing you did hear Buttons though the other night! He'd have been okay for a few more minutes without Angel's help leading the way to him! Our rain and alternating times of peeking sunshine didn't allow me enough time to walk today, and I didn't get to swim either. Tomorrow I will get GS and he'll stay here overnight and spend most of Sat. with me too. I don't like to be without my vehicle when I have him, which will not make DS too happy. And actually, we will be out a lot of the time anyhow, hopefully having some fun in between his usual appointment and accompanying me on our weekly visit with my elderly friend, who loves having GS visit her! DD didn't get the little kitty for GS today, so probably will do so next week one evening. Okay all, that's it for me and g'night.

Beb  I almost forgot, Twilight Zone incidents happen all the time to most folks because senses are heightened and when they are, everything, every little word, picture, sound, smell, and so on, affects this sensory perception that has become so sensitive, and it's all you can even concentrate on. Does this make any Sense to you?

My senses are heightened right now too, because it is 90 out and humid and our air-conditioner is on the fritz and being worked on right now. Not the kind of "Hot Mama" I wanted to Be-LOL!

Bonnie, Robbie  Okay, so now these little witticisms are called mantras? Lol--I thought it was just Talking to Myself! Hahaha!

Both Bonnie and Robbie--praying for your sisters! Seems like a lot of loving and caring and healing thoughts are going out to every one of us for us or some member of our families these days...it's comforting to know this, and appreciated much.

Ohio  Your Aunt was So Right! I have long hair, so when it's not in some up-do, from the back and especially when my missing butt is hidden by a long top, I might appear much younger. Funny how guys seem so helpful when approaching from behind, and then turn almost pathetic when they see I'm not the cute young thing they envisioned! By then though, I guess they feel obligated to assist, so I must remember to wear my hair down if I ever want help! Hehehe! A Little trickery never hurts!

And yes, to me it seems like a long week too. But since I had my two days away from my normal daily life, I guess I feel like my week didn't really get started until yesterday, so by Saturday, it will instead, seem like a short week!

Chris  I know you are thankful the local news won't be saying anything about being low on water for awhile anytime soon! Don't we just wish it would pour out during the night so we can still get our walks as we like!

I hope you are right, and my son will soon tire of this "sound power" thing! He is oblivious to how it appears or sounds to others who find it annoying, but not because he's being insensitive to others. He has Asperger's Syndrome, which this missing trait is a particular part of, but it sure doesn't make it any Easier-lol! I just wish he'd find a J-o-b doing this! I sometimes wonder how lucrative a business of this sort would be in such a small town like ours. There are plenty of places that specialize in this in a nearby major city, at least 20 miles away, so I doubt if starting up one would be successful, especially with this lousy economy now:-(

How did you happen upon the pet meds deal from/in Australia?  DD called last night to say a friend of theirs showed them his cat's new kittens, which GS fell in love with, and now GS wants one, a Black one (I hope will have a spot of white Somewhere on it!) and they can't have pets at her apartment, so...wants to keep GS's kitty here, when they get it real soon, maybe even today! DH is Not going to like that one bit, because he is the one who always ends up paying for it's food and meds and everything, But...gee, it's for our GS! Hope his hard heart will soften and he won't get mad at Me over it! I'm excited though, and told DD it would have to be an Outdoor cat because of my allergies (and her dad's severe dislike for indoor pets.) She said okay, she is looking to see if she can tell if one is a male. It's not entirely outdoors though, as it will be free to go in and out of the workshop, dog carrier crate on back deck, and our little shed too. And in winter when temps dip very low, it can come in, as all our pets did, and stay in little powder room. Do I sound happy to be getting GS's new kitty?! I just hope he picks a name we like, or I will call it whatever I like when DD and GS aren't here-Lol!

Robbie  Must have been popular words of wisdom in our grandmothers day, because my grandma used to say the same things as yours, "Don't borrow trouble."  DH tells me something similar whenever I "predict" something negative. Here in the south, often called The Bible Belt, people say "Don't speak it into existence." I find myself trying to avoid that situation quite a lot!

Good for your 2-lb drop!

I haven't gotten anything for my SIL yet, but yesterday I did turn off the water that was filling the pool, that someone else left on and didn't return to turn it off!  I love your idea to just blast my son's music! I wear dark sunglasses anyhow (cataract surgery on both eyes), though the peace signs might be met back at me with a different type of sign-lol! At least I don't play music with strong language and "F" words every other word, like I heard yesterday coming from a nice new SUV with nice looking, clean-cut, young man driving and singing with the bad words! Didn't even look like he'd be doing that! Looks can be Very deceiving-hehehe! "It's a teen male hormonal poisoning, I think"...I think you are Right!!! And I hope my own DS is soon Healed-Lol!

Well, our a/c is now fixed, has a new transformer and is cooling nicely now. Glad it turned out to be this too, because DH worked on it long time last night b4 announcing it must be something he couldn't fix. Would hate to have him eat crow on that one!

Booming sound system is now installed in my Jeep, and I have been informed it will make everything in the car vibrate, so DS removed all GS's toys and all my stuff that isn't absolutely needed daily. He must think he is going somewhere in it now...but I have other plans-hehehe! I need to go out and get some Milk, but he is welcome to come along and show me how to regulate the thing so it isn't as menacing as it will be when he drives it!

Beb  Glad you come on here to read what your friends here have to say. I think in about 2 weeks, you will be ready to get more active in that singles group you are a member of, and will be ready for friendships without dwelling on the negatives, and maybe find some others who enjoy biking like you do.  There are others out there in your part of the world who have grown children that no longer stay in touch often enough, or are so far away that either physical or financial situations keep them apart for maybe even Years at a time, and still others who would jump at the chance to have their deceased child be in your son's footsteps, just to be alive. What I'm trying to say is, you are not entirely alone, and there are those who would identify with you in this horrible feeling in your heart and in your gut, and soon you too, will be able to enjoy life more, and not dwell on this part. Two weeks sounds like a long time now, but you will get through it, and just taking it hour by hour, day by day, then more; I know you will be all right after this bump in the road of your life's journey. More <<<Hugs>>>

Beb  Nice pic of you and your son! He looks so much like you! Lucky him! I have to now, church tonight, but just wanted to get on and remind you what you already know...you've done the best thing for him, and while it may seem like the worst thing for yourself, in the long-run it is all good. And keep your chin up and put those sunglasses on, add a smile because you are physically able to do so, and let others wonder what you are smiling about! Check with you later.

Carol  Nice to see you on here! Hope all is well with you.

Looking for some good earplugs...anyone got any? DS has placed his sound system in my Jeep, cutting this huge box in half so I can keep GS's booster seat where it belongs, in back seat, which had to be totally folded down with full-sized box. This box is a very heavy wood one, holding 8 subs and 200 lbs.(subwoofers-the big thumping sound-blaring speakers you may have heard at some time or other). Now it holds 4 subs, only 100 lbs,  and still sounds like a concert-hall speaker system, only it will be driving down the road! I wonder if I can play MY music through it-LOL! Granny with the sound system coming down the road...Oh My!!!

Beb  When it rains, it pours! And it seems, right on You! You are right about needing to get away...get yourself a passport and come on! Ever heard of the saying, 'come for supper and stay for breakfast'? Come stay a week!  I hope apt. 305 is not within earshot of yours, so you won't hear that little baby when it cries and then miss Kyle even More!

I think your lawyer gave you good advice about the letter. We have Registered Mail here, where you can, for a small additional fee, request a Return Signature Card, which verifies or documents that it was received and exactly when and by whom. If you have that, you may wish to do things That way; very accountable.

Robbie  Happy for your brother! Nice to know that Someone is able to live the Dream!

I can't believe no one offered to help you at the airport! Guess you just look too "able-bodied"? Or maybe they've never been in a position to appreciate your condition!

I'm sorry to hear that your sister is having such battles with her health, both physical and mental. At least she will correspond with you in text.

I hope you are feeling better and get some weight-bearing going on after Friday's dr. visit.

Your DH isn't showing off how Helpful he is to you while your brother and family are visiting? Or Is He!?! Let's hope it lasts!

Lisa  10 lbs! Woohoo! Excellent!!! Hope your new vitamin regimen is helpful for you, but it might really take a few days to really notice it. You'll need all the energy you can get, I imagine, while in Baltimore and helping DD move and enjoying RedSox game!

Chris  I've heard of Strong and lean, but it goes with Fit and Mean! Hmmmm...personalized version much friendlier for sure! Thank you Peg and Bonnie!

Have to get off now...thundering again! Had to quit swimming laps at DH's sister's earlier for same reason, but I did get a whole hours' worth done! And just as I got almost all the way in my car, the skies opened up and well, we got out of our drought situation for at least another few days anyhow!

Bonnie  Great pics! GS looks like a mini-pro! You look so svelte in that cute golf skirt, and I especially love the anniversary pic of you and lover-boy! That room at Tara looks so romantic. Can't help but wonder what you were thinking about with that great big smile-lol!

Good for you with your 123.4! Woohoo!!

Wondering if that blasted kidney stone has left a fragment somewhere, creating a blockage. I do hope this can be resolved without yet another surgery! Prayers for her.

Great news that DD's stress test turned out well. Seems that getting that done though was a real eye-opener, which can only be a good thing!

Beb  Am anxious to hear what the outcome of today's court appearance was. Tensions were high during his visit, which may have fueled Kyle's disrespectful comments, but at least Brian stepped up like a man, like a dad Should! You have many things going on there, so I know you will keep busy, but the nights...will be praying about this for you. Get some good movies, excuse me, DVD's, to have on hand.

Have you heard from Rick since he informed you he was getting anew truck? Be happy for him, eh?

BTW, when I was 19, I weighed 145 and was really skinny, with hip bones and collar bone sticking out like a starved person. I had curves where it counted, but how can CC place my goal at 148? I'll be a Bone! I think I'd like to get to Your weight, just because I cannot even Imagine me there!

Ohio I'm sorry to learn of your eye problem! That particular one is so scary, so I hope something satisfactory can be done for you. I will remember you in my prayers.

Rebbex  Mashed potatoes with bits of lobster in them sounds very delectable, and reminds me of a delicious dish made by a Swedish g/f my dad had (between marriages!). It was some kind of baked fish, surrounded by mashed potatoes that had shrimp in it, and a delightful sauce made with cream. She did mention that in Sweden, Fresh cream was used, not store-bought homogenized cream. Wish I could think of a lighter version of that and still have it taste so grand! Hope you found a good salad at the steak restaurant!

Aice  That was quite an interesting article, so thank you.

Sea kayaking sounds like a lot of adventurous fun...enjoy!

Chris  Strong and lean. Fit and healthy. Sounds good...I like that.

Hope your day tomorrow is much better. All your day had in it almost sounds like a bad movie-lol!  That unfortunate situation your DD had with the van is a good learning experience for her. Did you tell her about how it was when You were her age...before cell phones, and how You would have handled the same thing? LOL!

I've been very hungry for the past few days, much more than usual, and it's not a good thing! Maybe it's just stress, so now that jury duty is completed (dismissed for rest of the week and all of next week) I can get back to my usual routine. I haven't been drinking water like I should be, for obvious reasons, but now can return to that. Maybe that potluck church dinner really threw me off more than it seemed. And now, DS is making popcorn and the butter smell is permeating this house and maybe I need to sit outside on the porch in the dark, so I don't smell it and gain weight just from That-Lol! ;-)

Okay, going to look for the Duct Tape now!

Hello to all and hope your week is going well!

Kathy  That photo presentation is just beautiful! the music you chose for it seems perfect! What is being said in that song, or what is it actually about? It's lovely though, and I so enjoyed it! Thank you for it all!

Ohio some elderly people's sense of taste and smell no longer works as it did, and when food has little taste or aroma, the desire to eat is greatly diminished. Since they derive less pleasure from eating, it not the enjoyable activity it once was, and then for those who eat every meal alone, it just is not even worth the bother after awhile. So it is for my elderly friend, anyhow. She eats one hot meal a day, delivered to her assisted-living apartment. She doesn't have anything except coffee for breakfast, and for dinner, eats whatever she didn't eat of her lunch. Her body works differently now too, and she keeps that in mind when she does eat with others, and so eats Very little. I suppose some meds cause less desire to eat as well.

Your day of shredding and clearing old papers and getting other tasks completed, baking muffins and even reading and napping sounds like you had a very full day! Getting so much done is almost cathartic and since spending time like that is your favorite thing to do, glad you had such a nice day!

Bonnie  There sure are a lot of women who often have restless nights! I took 2 Benadryl tablets last night, Hoping it would be enough to help me get a decent night's rest, but when I Want that effect, it just doesn't happen! I seem to be a bit more short-tempered, or more easily agitated when this happens night after night! This afternoon, I got all ready to go for a swim, and decided to wait and instead, took a nap for an hour and a half! I think I could have stayed there on the bed, but then I'd miss any chance of sleep at all during the night. Oh, it was thundering and raining when I woke up, which didn't help-lol!

"Whacked with a golf club and got a concussion"Surprised  Yeah, we sure have made some great impressions on our little grands-Lol! Laughing

Beb  You certainly have some difficult decisions ahead of you, but some may be out of your hands anyhow. I am not qualified to give any advice to you, but I will say that from my own experiences; oftentimes, less is more. Meaning, saying less about things can be more beneficial, but knowing When to stop or when to give details can be very frustrating. I agree with Chris that Kyle's staying with you doesn't seem a good idea, but the change of lifestyle that living with his dad offers, may be in his best interest. Perhaps Kyle's inclusion in Brian's life now, will encourage him to do more in his job-seeking, and maybe Kyle can find a part-time job there too, doing something he'd enjoy. With the knowledge that Kyle is living with his dad, they may rule to let you stay in your apartment, provided things do turn out that well on the 28th.  If this Does happen, it may be up to you to keep the lines of communication open with Kyle, and perhaps having more pleasant things to discuss will even help reinforce your relationship with your son. Of course, I will continue praying for you and Kyle.

Like others here, without faith, I don't know how people can cope in many instances.

Robbie  Love the scooter pic! What a balancing act you have! Just seems that a wheelchair would be easier, safer, and get just as many curious glances as the scooter-Lol!

Chris  At today's potluck dinner, I did enjoy the tiny bit of vegetables that was available, and even did fairly well with the rest. But then....yep, Desserts! Better than a dessert bar at a fancy restaurant! And guess who really did sample Several of these luscious delights! This is the south, and almost every dish was loaded with fat, carbs and calories.  I will not suffer further disappointment in myself by even tryingto tally-up today's calorie consumption! I just really hope I haven't completely undone a week's worth of hard work! I know, if I did, I just have to work even that much harder this week to get rid of it! Grrr...!

Tomorrow is DH's first day off in 14 days, and I, always right here at home, will be serving jury duty! I told him he must have planned it that way-lol!

Well it sounds like everyone has either a really busy weekend planned or else just the opposite...so hope everyone just has an enjoyable one either way!

Kathy  I received a Forwarded Email thing that showed young women wearing what appears like see-though skirts, but isn't. They are all in Japan, so I am wondering if this is a new craze there! The backs of the skirts depict under-clothing or no clothing, and really look like the real thing! Enlighten me on this one, will you? I cannot imagine it becoming a fad here though, as it borders on indecency, but not all places are that restrictive!

Chris  At church dinners, I'm not the only one who smiles and compliments people on foods I haven't eaten, am I? It's not lying if I hear someone say a food was good, and use that as a basis for the nice comment, right? We used to have a "saying" at work, "She can't cut the cake", which meant "she" didn't wash up after toileting, and then we avoided that person's pot luck or dish they brought to share. What a touchy-feely situation for church fellowships though! So yes, thanks for the welcome-Lol!

I got a traffic warning/ticket the other night on my way home after church! GS was in the car and asked me what those flashing blue lights [behind me] were for and why did I stop on the side of the road! I thought I was about to get a speeding ticket, for going 5 mph over the limit, but it was for a burned-out bulb in the license plate area, and I also had a front fog-light burned-out. Whew! So now, Jerry, otherwise known as DH, Beb, is replacing the required one to illuminate the tag. It probably got broken when I was towing DS one time recently. The front one, which also had a broken lens cover, probably got smashed the same way, as I drove behind DS's wrecked car, pushing it up on the trailer to carry it off from where he was staying until that day, when he moved back home! Stuff memories are made of, eh? Lol!

Bonnie  It will be a well-received gesture of DD attending the viewing of your friend, as friend's daughter will surely appreciate her coming for this. It is so sad, one month fine, next-gone! No guarantee tomorrow is a given. My deepest sympathy is with you.

Hope DD's stress test on Monday will show a good report!
