so, i've read through the posts a bit, and am still confused. i've put in my stats, etc., and at the top of my calorie meter it says that my goal (for maintenence, in smaller font) is 2200 calories. i want to lose weight, so i should drop down 500 or so calories, according to your initial post...? but, when i plugged in all of my info into CC (starting weight 137lbs, 5'8", 22 years old, goal weight 125-ish ilbs light activity) it said that i should only eat between 1200-1500 cals a day. i'm very confused. any clarity on this subject would be SO HELPFUL! thanks so much!!

i do that, too - eat with a smaller spoon, haha. everything, yogurt, ice cream, oatmeal, cereal. it helps me enjoy it, and it lasts longer, so i generally feel more full and thus eat less!

Weight Loss Question about Eat Meter/Burn Meter.... Apr 29 2009
22:37 (UTC)

this was super helpful! thanks to hopeful31 for asking, and for the rest of you for answering :) also - while i've plugged all of my info in, it says in my eat meter in the top half that 2200 cals is my goal? but then, upon more investigation, aout 1500 cals should help me lose weight... i don't understand why the top says 2200, when i want to lose weight? not to mention, i never go that high (2200).  like, right now (as well as every day) my daily goal is listed as 2200 - but, i've only eaten 857 cals today. why won't the top say 1500 cals?? i'm confused... :/ (although, no longer confused about the burn meter - thanks again!)

Weight Gain "You're So Skinny... Apr 28 2009

this is the worst! i lost about 25lbs. a couple years back, and had everyone looking sideways at me and putting their (unnecessary) two-cents in. "eat more, you never eat, put more food on your plate, you're wasting away!" i am 5'8", around 137lbs., which is right around where i've stayed since that initial (but safe and took a couple months) 25lbs. loss. but - i never was nor am i now "too skinny." in fact, i've gained a couple pounds, and just feel yucky, so i'm looking to lose weight - but, i keep it to myself, because everyone criticizes me for my size already.  i have no support. :( SO LAME, people need to be quiet and realize that saying "you're so skinny! do you have an eating disorder? (even in joking tones)" is NOT complimentary.

great group :)

i've been told so many times that i should model, and last year even, i was chosen to model as a bride for a grand resort's brochure and website... the photographer who chose me was well-known, professional, and certainly knew his field - and he told me, as i was leaving the set, that i should look into doing it professionally. my measurements are 34-26-34 and 5'8", size 4,  but the problem is, i feel like i am much too heavy, ringing in at a little over 135lbs. hence, my joining CC. i think if i could lose some weight, then my dream could come true; but, even though i said "this will be the year that i finally attempt it" i need to lose some weight before trying out. a.) to feel more confident while going on auditions, and b.) to actually make the cut :/ plus - i feel as if i carry so much of my weight in my thighs (i used to be very, very athletic, plus muscle-y legs run in my family :() and those measurements do not accurately portray the heft of my lower half. blah.

anyways - great info from everyone, and good luck! you're young, and at a pretty good height! stick with it (but stay positive about yourself!!) :)
