Yes, obviously this girl has an eating disorder of she thinks 105 is fat. But seriously, is that any reason to poke fun at her!

And so NEVERSAYNEVER, yeah, you need help! I know you might argue that 'no, all my friends are less, and they say they're fat' or something along the lines, but well I guess they have eating disorders too. For your our life's sake, Get help! You are UNDERweight!!!!

Thanks guys, you're reassuring comments helped.. I was pretty freaked out there for a bit!

But I haven't majorly upped my calorie intake lately? Well I did increase it but only by say 200-3000 a day more. And the weird thing is: I'm regular in the mornings first thingh when I get up. Then through the day at school my stomach makes all these weird sounds and I'm so gassy but embarrassed(obviously:P) So I hold it in. Then as soon as I get home, I have to like RUN to the bathroom.

I was thinking it's possibly because I've been trying to eat faster lastely, I'm acctully a really slow chewer, I always have been, but even more so since my ED. So is it maybe I'm swallowing too much air while trying to chew fast? Or how about swallowing air from chewing gum?

Wow! I started tearing up while reading this!
That was just like all my thoughts in the back of my head that the ED voice is trying to keep secret, but YOU brought it to the front of my mind and well now I'll work on sorting it out! .. Thanks! :)

On a more serious note though: from someone the same age, weight, and height as you.. also struggling to fight this stupid person in my head!: Seriously, you need to stop this, and make the change NOW! I know it's hard! And as much as I hate to say it; everyday you carry on this way it gets 100x harder!!And yes, this is speaking from experience! I feel for you, I know what you're going through, trust me, as much as I regret it, I KNOW! You NEED to tell someone who supports you about gaining, a parent, a doctor, both would be best, actually.

But trust me, I've done it a zillion times before.. ;;;go on a huge crash diet thinking; "oh, as soon as I'm skinny enough! Just give me a couple more days, I promise, I'll eat on the weekend, that's WHY I'm not eating now!"
But no! Every time you say that to yourself, it makes the ED voice get stronger, and stronger [think of it like: if someones running a race, they train their body every day so they'll be ready for the final challenge because they want to win. right?]    Well that's exactly what your ED voice is doing. And you're letting it practice, and train for the 'big day' so when the final challenge is in front of you you're ED voice will be soooo Strong it will win!

But you said you didn't want to let it win, you said you wannah win right!?
You can! You can win. But you can't do it on your own, I guarantee you that.

And if you are really more like me than appears to be; and if your ED voice twists that around and tells you 'you're not THAT sick' . 'or no, ED is good, it'll protect you, it won't let you get hurt'    Well if that or anything along the lines is going through your head right now? Well surprise!(NOT) It just DID hurt you!

I know I don't really know you, but for some reason I really want you to make it. To get better! Well yeah, I feel that way about everyone here on CC but for some reason you especially! Maybe because I see myself in you. Because just a few months ago I was EXACTLY where you are now! Don't give up! Please! Just let it sink in. This voice in your head doesn't just make your life a living hell, but each passing day that no one knows how mean the ED voice is treating you, it makes theirs a living hell too! You can trust me on this, as much as it sucks, it's true!

I was reading this whole thing with my jaw down to the floor! You know what? Yes, sometimes I get triggered too, but isn't posting your opinion about these people kinda rude? I mean, it is good to discus it, in case it is a real problem and lots of people are triggered, but seriously!?

How would you feel if you had a really low self esteem (like many people with ED's do) and other people were saying how "DISGUSTING" you looked!? Yes, you Agruskin. 
And I don't mean to be rude, I think you are very encouraging and caring to many of us going through recovery, but that is why I was so shocked by your first post! I'm sorry but that is just rude!

No, I don't know what anyone with these pictures feel about this thread, and their pictures. Some may feel they want to brag, and some are probably ashamed. But I'm pretty sure everyone of those people who post these photos, heck; even everyone on this forum, no, on this site! wants support!

No, this site is not a pro-ana or mia, we all know that. This site is for support and help, that's what we all want. right?

And I fully agree with those of you bringing up that it may be triggering, and yes I understand you're trying to support people too, but nobody who posts these photo's looks like that on purpose! Even those who are doing it to brag and show off how skinny they are, that's obviously not on purpose.. Maybe the "ana" inside of them is, but they ARE sick people! And isn't what we are all trying to do is HELP those who are sick! So why make them feel worse!?

Edit: Sometimes, I even(and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one) get triggered by other peoples posts; just they're BMI, and how vmuch they way, thing that are happening, just nomal stuff. But seriosly? Isn't that the life of haveing an ED?!

I don't know what I'm really suggesting here, because I agree with both sides of the argument.. but.. *sigh* I dunno, Just think before you type people! Put your-self in others shoes for crying out loud!

Just wanted to add something though::
Well no wonder there are so many cases of ED's in younger and younger children, if THAT is what people(males especially) and the media too, say is healthy! Yeah maybe there is more obesity and stuff now, but there's probably just as many eating disorders! The whole world is getting obsessed with body image! If you're not to fat you're too thin. If you're not too thin you're too fat! It's freakin' horrible!

I just keep telling myself, if you don't eat, you'll loose weight yes, but then Lise(my nutritionist) will make you eat more, than you'll gain more anyways! I dunno.. works for me... I've also heard that talking to your ED voice out loud when it says "you fatty, don't eat that" just say "Shut up ED!!"  I dunno, try it; lemme know how it goes! Good luck! Agruskin: Sorry, but I really don't think it's that good for me to count calories, my nutrionist has been trying to get me to stop for a while and just focus on servings. That's why it's only ONE slice of bread, and only 1/4c of cottage cheese..  I know I COULD have more, but it's a new meal plan and all, and having even a tbsp extra of something, freaks me right out! :(  I'm working on it though!

Hi Breathesofhope! I too struggle with recovery from anorexia, and I also have all these questions that I just want one single right answer to! But you know what? There is NO one, single, right, answer to anything about food or weight gain, and even weight loss for that matter.

First, let me congratulate you, yes congratulate,, for craving and EATING that junk food! That is a big thing that you're doing, many of us recovery from ED's have serious problems with  not letting ourselves eat the food we crave, but good for you! You can! Be proud! Everybody craves stuff, but it takes someone strong to give in and listen to their cravings! Be proud of yourself!! :)

It seems like your family's doing what mine tends to do:: They notice you're underweight and need to gain so they encourage you to eat more by buying snack food they know you love. And this is they're way of trying to help! If I were you I'd try talking to your mom or dad or whoever is buying this stuff for you and let them know your concerns about this, ask them for their help, I'm sure they would love to!

And your body is craving chocolate and cookies probably because; well I'm guessing you wouldn't let your body have it for so long, so your stomach's probably thinking "Oh yay! Now I can have the foods I love again, so let's make up for all the times I couldn't! But oh no! what if I've deprived again!? I better stock up now!"     I have also read that when you crave chocolate, sometimes it's actually a protein craving.. maybe you can try making a chocolate, peanut butter smoothie? Yum!

And I too suggest getting a team of doctors behind you on this!

New thread - new me! I've been wanting to post in the  "weight gainers what did you eat today" thread for so long now, but couldn't because I wasn't consuming enough calories.. but after a LONG discussion with my nutritionist on Tuesday, she upped my meal plan to 2500+ calories! Yesterday was my first day on it, and I haven't eaten this much in almost a year now! And it WAS hard, VERY hard, but I did it! And it doesn't feel as bad as I thought!

Anywho.. here's what I ate, the most I have in a LONGGGGGG time!::

B- 1slice WW toast, 2 tbsp cream cheese, smoothie with 1c skim milk, a handful of raspberries, CIB,  a tbsp of almond butter.

L- veggie burger, a whole WW English muffin, 1 slice cheddar cheese, 1 tsp my grandmas homemade pesto sauce, mustard, lettuce and tomato,  1/4 cup 1% cottage cheese

S- Smoothie with CIB, 1c skim milk, 1 peach,  1/2 WW english muffin, 1 tbsp peanut butter

D- 1c veggies, in olive oil, 6 shrimp, about 2 tbsps ginger soy sauce

Dessert- single scoop ice cream from baskin robbins

S- 1c cucumber, CIB pudding, 1/2 cup cottage cheese


I still didn't do so great, with saving up food until night, but hey! At least I got it all in; right!? :)

Agruskin- Deap down, I KNOW I should be eating 2500, but I have a nutritionist, and she has said no such thing, she hasn't told me a number of calories, but she has given me a pretty flexible meal plan to follow. She knows what I eat and has said I'm doing good. Thank you for you concern though.. And, uhhh, I haven't thought about what I'm going to maintain on.. :S  I'm guessing my body is still in starvation mode; so I'll probably have to increase it in time, so I'll probably be up at 2500 plus soon, and then I guess my maintian will be about 2000, I dunno though.. I'm just following my nutritionist's rools, and isn't that the most important one to listen to?

Okay, well I love posting what I eat, it kinda keeps me on track during ED recovery,, and since I'm not really aloud to post in the weight gain one, because you need to be eating 2500+ to post, and I'm gaining on around 2000; is it okay if I join this team!?

B- oatmeal with cinnamon(1/4 cup oats), 1 tbsp almond butter, smoothie(1 CIB, 1c skim milk, strawberries, more cinnamon! -500

L- veggie burger, a slice of cheese, 1 slice toast, a peach -400

S- 1% plain yogurt, mixed with a CIB and strawberries - 400

D- tofu, 1 potato in olive oil, salad with 1tbsp dressing - 400

S- CIB hot chocolate(skim) with cinnamon.. yet again! -250

Total= about 9500 cals

And for yous who don't know;; CIB's is short form for Carnation Instant Breakfasts, similar to Ensure, and Boost.. Their drinks that many ED recovery nutritionists give to their patients.

I read this and I was like, wow, I feel the exact same thing! I too would never eat by myself, during the week, but on weekends at sleepovers with my friends and family parties, I'd eat a lot, than feel bad about it and eat next to nothing again. The cycle went on and on! And I too now eat the same everyday, somedays I have more, and the next day sometimes I do restrict  a little.. :(
I just never realized untill I read this, so thanks I guess!

But just know your not alone, I'm here with you!

Chrissy this was a great idea for a topic!:)

I'm in recovery right now, but keep thinking, oh once I gain the weight my maintaining level will be so low, and it will feel like I'm barely eating again, and it'll be so hard to make stuff taste good with out all the extra calories... BUT after reading some of this stuff, I've realised, hey! I can still eat a lot of yummy food! I'm pumped to recover soon and start posting here! :)

I heard that if you talked to your ED voice out loud it helps when you think twice about eating the 2nd or 3rd cookie. If you say stuff like "Shut up ED! Your stupid! I'm the smart one here! All you did was mess up my life, so now I'm saying GOOD BYE to you! So you know what, I'll do something I want for once, and I want that cookie!" just stuff like that.. (sorry I kinda went on and on!)

I tryed it today though, when I was thinking twice about haveing extra chili for supper: and guess what!!? IT WORKED! =D... I had more chili, and I enjoyed it! And that's all that really matters right!? :)

Give it a go and see if it works for you!

 No, sorry, but it IS okay to have more than that. You should have about 1 serving "added" fats at every meal maybe, like olive oil, or avocado, but there is also fat, naturally in other things, like even bananas for example, have fat in them, but that doesn't make them a fat does it? their still a fruit.

And I don't think you need to worry about the 70g per day, because that is based on a 2000 calorie diet, and if you're eating 3000 calories a day, it would make sense for you to have around 105g, right? because you need to have a balance, not gram for gram, the extra calories have to come from somewhere..

And you know what? Eating fat does not make you have any more fat than carbs or proteins, I know, they're both called fat right, but it's used for other stuff too, it doesn't go straight to your stomach. A calories is still just a calorie. There is now fad weight loss programs about eating extra fat to loose weight... I think the "eat as little fat as possible" fad, was just that: a fad. that society never learned to let go of!

Fat does have more calories per gram than protein and carbs, but hey, you gotta get the calories from somewhere! So yeah, don't worry about it! I know it's hard, and I struggle with it too, but really, it's okay to have more fat, you should be if you are consuming an extra 1000 calories.

hahah, wow. I have the exact sam issue, and I'm also around 95lbs, and 5'3. Any my nutritionist is the exact same same calories and everything! And also with the snack situation, my nutritionist told me that if I'm finding it too hard to pick any snack myself she could give me a list to choose from daily, you might find it helpful, I think I'm gonna ask for one our next appiontment..

I'd say just do what she tells you, I acctully find it easier to trust her than myself mostly.. if you're usure ask her about it, tell her you don't think this enough, she's here to help YOU. so if you have a problem with anything at all tell her about it! She can't fire you; but you could fire her! :P So she probably won't want to do anything to make you mad! Good luck! :)

Okay; thanks..:)   Well anyway's here's today's eats..

B- 1 peice WW toast, a fried egg, smoothie with CIB and 1/2 banana

L- 2 pc WW bread, 3 slices tofurkey, 2 slices veggie cheese, 1/2 orange

S- apple, CIB

D- 85g.ish tofu, with 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp sause, 1c steamed brocoli, 1 slice toast(again) with 1 slice veggie cheese.. a handfull of almonds

S- CIB and.. hmm haven't desided yet, I'll make sure it's at least 200-300 cals though..
