| Weight Loss | Should I fast before my doctor's appointment tomorrow? | Nov 17 2009 02:36 (UTC) |

no, i definitely do not have an eating disorder. i exercise to stay fit and healthy (i'm an athlete and missing days of exercise makes me severely out of shape... for some reason...). i have recently been eating over consecutive days around 2000 calories, so my "binges" - i guess - are no longer binges, but regular habits of eating a lot (which in that respect may be a problem). i do regularly indulge in my favorite foods as well. i'm not overweight or underweight. my bmi is 19.5. that is true, though, that the doctor's scale shouldn't matter so much to me. i just don't really want to see those numbers and find out i'm heavier than i think i am, haha. i guess we'll see how i feel about this tomorrow morning :P thanks for the responses everyone! |

at what...? my latest routine, or...? first semester at school i gained 10 pounds (almost freshman fifteen!), and then i decided to get back on track for second semester, which began in january. then i lost the 10 and some by february and maintained until june. i had got back from school at the beginning of may, and i had eaten whatever i wanted whenever. by june i had gained 6 pounds back, and a couple weeks ago, i started this exercise/diet regiment. |

Yes, I understand, but the problem is, cutting back on food AND exercise isn't doing anything, so why should simply exercise work? I am trying to lose this recently gained weight... My current stats say that I'm at a good weight actually, according to my BMI and all that... I don't know if I should share, haha - people might get mad at me :P All I want to do is understand how to lose healthily, rather than gain even though I'm trying to do everything right... |

Very true. I've read that a lot as well. Which brings me to another question I've never been able to answer: I'm small and sedentary enough that around 1200 is my recommended intake to maintain my weight anyway. So in this case, how would I go about losing weight, because I can't decrease calories? No refrigerator. It's a library... I go outside on the benches to eat. |

I'm trying to eat a maximum of 1000 calories a day (it's tough, because I don't know how to count calories in traditional Chinese dishes). But at work, I don't have a microwave, so I can't have anything hot. I work in a library, to which I bike daily, so I can't bring in "supplies" for food. I read online that calories are the most important for weight loss, but I also noted that glycemic indices are very significant as well. Did my meal have a high GI? If so, how do I counter it? Thanks! |

Can particular foods increase testosterone levels?
One small study showed licorice may reduce levels of testosterone in men. Alcohol is also known to lower libido but, otherwise, testosterone... Read more
