| Motivation | Ten lbs gone by Thanksgiving - anyone want to join me? | Oct 29 2009 21:55 (UTC) |

Oh I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad last night! I do not know why, but I was starving all day long. I felt like my stomach was going to come out of my body several times. I had a huge spinach salad for dinner, but it didnt touch the insatuable hunger, and I ended up breaking down and eating two (small) piece of my husbands chicken pizza. Yes, it did not help that he made PIZZA when I was starving and going out of my mind! However, i did a total of 2 hours on my bike yesterday, so I still ended up with a deficit of 1200 calories for the day. Not what I wanted but oh well. I am thinking about just a walk tonight, giving my bike a break for the day and mixing it up a bit. I am really getting anxious to get the Wii now. I am back on track with my eating today and I don't feel that horrible starving feeling like I did yesterday. Sensible lunch and breakfast and I will do something light for dinner. What do you guys do when you have those kinds of day? Any suggestions for avoiding those horrible foods when you are feeling like you are going to die? |

Good Morning Nafabird! I think it is great you do 45 minutes with Buddy every day! I have a corgi named Milo, and we both need to loose a few pounds! It is not if you do loose the full 10 lbs, but that you are working on it and trying. That can sometimes make all the difference in the world! |

Welcome everyone! I think this is awesome! What a fabulous group of people all cheering each other on and rooting for our success! I have had an awesome week so far. I have dedicated myself to getting my butt moving every single night, and I have accomplished it without fail. I have stayed well within my 1500 calorie range, and done at least 600 calories of activity every day. I am working on incorporating more veggies into my daily intake, as I think this will help me in the long run. This morning I woke up at 4:45 am and couldn't sleep, so I got up and hit the recument bike. I did 45 minutes and was showered and dressed before my husband even made it out of bed. Does anyone have a goal for today of exercise? is there maybe something new you want to try and are a little afraid to? I am considering getting my son a Wii for Christmas, and I am thinking about trying out the EA sport activity "game". I have read a lot of reviews that rave about it! What do you guys do to get motivated and moving? |

WHOOOHOOO!! Welcome everyone! I am incredibly stoked by this! I think that we can really make this happen! I am getting ready to get on my bike again to end my day. I need to continue with this motivation and I know that with all of us rooting for one another we can all succeed! If we do well, would anyone be interested in doing something on an ongoing basis? Like I said earlier, having a total of 120 to loose I had to break it down into ten pound increments. I have 100 more to go, and that would be a total of a year, broken down in to five week challenges. If you guys are interested we could start with this one, and each time we finish we can start anew! My husband is the least supportive person, and so this could really help me in the long run. Anyway, just looking for feedback with the thought. The thought of hitting my goal weight in just fifty short weeks (less than a year!) is really making me happy! Broken down, that is only ten challenges - that is NOTHING, right? |

Welcome Hoos4pitt and animealiz! I think that this will really help ME and I appreciate everyone joining in! I like being able to share my success and my failure, because everyone here is so supportive, and I so need that. Animealiz, you are I are similar in height and weight. I have to say it is hard to find someone in the same place as me. I get discouraged when I harp on myself too much. I really appreciate the tips on journaling and such too. I think that maybe I need to start writing down things like that. I dont have a problem with what I will do when I loose it (see, i wrote WHEN not IF!) but I think that I fear giving up more now than relapsing later. um I guess I should list mine, shouldnt I? SW: 272 CW: 256 (Lowest 244) GW: 150 Goal by Thanksgiving: 242 Been working hard today - raked leaves, worked in the yard, did 45 minutes on my recumbant bike and walked 1.5 miles. Plan on another 1/2 hr on the bike later. Do you guys have a favorite exercise or activity? |

Welcome Cassie and Nafabird! Cassie, I am doing both right now. I have a recumbant bike that I am back to riding for at least 1/2 hour a day. I am also trying to work a walk in each day, and I have done a mile and a half walk yesterday and today. Today has been a good morning so far, and knowing that I am going to be posting in a week what I weigh helps me for some odd reason! I am also considering getting my son a Wii for christmas, and I hear the EA Sport work out is awesome and way better than the Wii fit. I'm almost ready to say that will be my christmas present to myself, because at $60 that is the only way i can justify spending the money on it! However, if it helps me to get in shape and loose weight it will be worth every penny. Nafabird, what is your secret? You ahve done awesome by the sounds of your loss! Share any good secrets? |

| Weight Loss | 2000 calories too little? | Jun 30 2009 03:18 (UTC) |

I know if I consume a lot of carbs I seem to be hungry more often. I have a handful of veggies or a low carb fiber bar and a huge glass of water and it curbs the hunger with only 130 calories consumed. I only allow myself two slices of bread a day, and only whole grains. I cant even have pasta or ptatoes or I feel like I could eat the entire fridge! Obviously that is just my body; yours could be different, but you might try to cut some carbs. Another thing I have discovered - the more veggies you eat, the more appetizing they become!!! Some great short cuts are to buy them pre cut, so all you have to do is steam them and eat! Good luck and I hope the hungries go away soon! It sucks to be hungry! |

Hi gmkal! I started with CC the first part of May after a serious discussion with my doctor. I had surgery a month ago for my gall bladder, and I have lost a total of 27.4 lbs since I began. It is a constant struggle - and a constant reward as well. I want to loose a total of 120 lbs, so I am almost 1/5 of the way there! I will say you are looking at it in a way that will overwhelm you. You cannot constantly fixate on the fact that you are needing to loose 100 lbs. You need to break it down to small goals and go from there. For me, I have two constant goals. The first is to loose the next 10 lbs. I started at 272, and when I hit 262 I was ecstatic! 252 was totally missed, as I was afraid to step on the scale, but I am now within 2.4 lbs of hitting 242! My other goal is set by a specific number I want to get to. Before it was to get under 250. Now it is to get under 235, as I haven't been that small in over ten years. After I hit that one, I will set another "bigger goal" and continue with my small 10 lbs at a time. When I say I have to loose 120 lbs, it is just plain scary. But saying I am going to loose 10 lbs and go from there makes it attainable and helps me to feel like I am accomplishing something! Best reward so far? Hearing people say to me "wow, you have lost weight!" and having my clothes just be too big for me to wear! I'm here too if you ever want to talk or you need encouragement! |

I'm living proof that women with PCOS can have children. My son is now ten years old, and he was conceived with no fertility treatments. Yes, I was shocked because i was told i would never have kids at age 18 and again at age 24...and then at 28 i conceived my miracle. PCOS SUCKS! My husband today told me that he would "never let himself get as fat as me". He doesnt understand that PCOS does affect how your body uses and stores food. He eats five times what i do, and never gains an ounce. I can walk past a loaf of bread and gain 4 lbs. Just stick to what you are doing and know that it is right. Loosing weight will help with the pcos craziness. I do low carb, with a lot of whole grains and veggies. |

I can deal with all of these things - the one I hate is the condesending looks from the doctor when he tells you you are morbidly obsese. I guess they assume everyone who is fat walks around with a bag of M&M's all day. Sigh But the one that hurt me the most was when my sons father told me I was too fat and ugly for anyone to ever love. |

I love my recumbant exercise bike! I alternate between the cruiser outside and the recumbant inside (when the weather sucks or I just cant get all my ducks in a row!) Each one feels like it works different areas. I figure its 300 calories per 1/2 hours of time on my recumbant based on estimates from several sources. I figure f its more then I will just loose a little bit faster! |

| Motivation | My husband is trying to sabotage my changes! | May 18 2009 03:46 (UTC) |

He isn't just "retaining his habits". In the two and a half years we have been together I have NEVER seen the man eat bacon. When he would make it for breakfast for me or my son he wouldnt eat it. I don't mind his habits as much as him purposely making something he KNOWS that I love and can't eat. He rarely ate potatoes, now he makes them four times a week. I am not "imposing my habits" as you think - I haven't asked him to eat one vegatable or one salad. He makes his side dishes, and I make mine. If he had been eating potatoes and bacon and such all along, then I would chalk it up to him just eating normal as I do with the midnight snacks and stuff. What HURTS is that all of a sudden he feels the urge to eat ALL my forbidden foods, which he NEVER ate in the entire time I have known him! That to me is DEFINATELY sabotage! And btw, I am totally doing this healthy and under a doctors care. I'm consuming exactly the amount of calories I should (1500 to 1600 range) and exercising daily as recommended by my doctor, but thanks for the advice. |

thanks sfredbull. It's a daily challenge, but one I am going to work on. I have to find a way to get healthy. I'm not interested in "skinny"; I'm too old to be someones hotty or whatever. I just want to be alive when my son has children, not have constant pain in my knees, and not have future health problems because I have extra weight. What I don't understand is my husband is a recovering alcoholic, so he knows that temptation is overwhelming at times! I am not a food addict - I actually have PCOS, which puts the brakes on weight loss and really screws with your body. He knows this all, and still doesnt see how difficult this is for me. I'm just going to keep on keeping on and hope that I can either be stronger than he is or he finally wakes up some day! I think I will end up having to find strength! UUUUGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!! |

| Motivation | Non Supportive Friends...and Genetics. | May 18 2009 02:28 (UTC) |

Unfortunately my non supportive "friend" is also my husband. He wont admit it, but he is trying everything to sabotage me. Making pasta and potatoes, which he knows I cant eat; making bacon which makes the entire house smell like bacon and it drives me up a WALL! I cant seem to get him to stop. His genetics make it possible for him to eat anything he would like; I have a medical condition which makes it incredibly hard to loose weight. Even if I ever do loose the weight, this will be a lifetime struggle for me. Just keep doing what you are doing, and remember you are doing this for YOU, not for anyone else. You don't need anyones approval. Anyone who is your TRUE friend will be there for you no matter what you look like! |
