| Weight Loss | Dangers of the atkins diet if not done properly from personal experience | Jul 28 2009 16:46 (UTC) |
19 |
I also did a run with atkins and found myself in the hospital.
I had been no/low carb for three months a cold put me in the mood for comfort food.. a dish of pasta.... I awoke on the floor of my living room with my 10 year old calling 911 and my husband asking if I was ok
after several tests it was found my glycemic was all over the place... likely from the pasta. I will never attempt an exclusive diet again... good luck to you on cc. |

I have tried the eat whatever I want & stay within the calories... but a single cheeseburger from the right fast food joint will do you in for calories... so you have to make better choices if you don't want to be hungry.
You can splurge and have something "naughty" but make up for it in calorie counting or burning later..
Good Luck on your journey |

| Motivation | What is your motivation? | Jun 11 2009 16:54 (UTC) |

I started with the motivation of looking better for my husband. After a month of doing CC I have decided my motivation has changed, its less about how I look and more about how I feel. I am happier with less mood swings, calmer and sleeping better. I like how I feel and know that all of these things will help me to live a longer healthier life. I want to be the grandmother who still plays on the floor and can get back up without help. Find something/anything even the smallest item that you want that you will/can not do now and use it as your motivation once you reach it choose another..and so on..
My first was to make it to the top of the stairs to my bedroom without getting out of breath..
Good luck to you and your wife on your journey to a healthier and happier life. |

My most embaressing moment was a shopping trip for something special.. my wedding anniversary.... I walked into Victoria Secret and was promptly told girls your size can't shop here.. we don't carry anything that large!!
I left the store went dirctly to my car and cried the whole way home.. never did buy anything for that night.
I will never shop there even after I lose the weight.

| Weight Loss | on the verge of quitting | May 29 2009 15:25 (UTC) |

I have the same problem I am staying within my calorie and burning but am not losing weight or inches. For 13 years I have let it get me frustrated and discouraged and quit, I am now 5'3" and over 200lbs. I hate how I look, refuse to have my picture taken or wear anything that I don't swim in, I don't even want to think about being intimate with my husband who is amazing.
Please keep going, add me as a friend if you want...someone to vent/celebrate/be accountable to.
I wish you luck on your journey to a heallthier and happier you. |

| Motivation | Help! The weekends are killing me! | May 29 2009 15:10 (UTC) |

I offer to bring the veggie tray or fruit sampler... NO DIPS and then I am sure to have things there to fill up on before all the trigger foods come out....especially the burgers and chips.
I have no suggestions for the drinking... I am a beer drinker at heart but am trying to leave it at one or two a night on weekends instead of 6 or 8. Also try some of the new lighter beers... MGD 64 is OK, a little watery but beer none the less. As others suggest go for a walk, or try out some yard games, badmitten is one of my favorites (always a good laugh after a few drinks.) |

I love my Wii Fit. The hula hoop, penguin, boxing (especially against whichever child is making me crazy today) and the advanced step. I try to get on it every day.. my only problem is the body test...the weight fluctuates up and down so much, I don't think it is accurate, it has me gaining as much as 2lbs during the time I spend on it (usually 1/2 to 1 hr) so don't get frustrated with that information. Enjoy the fact that you are having fun and getting up and moving at the same time |

Thank you for starting a place for me to feel good. I can never meet my goal I sabatoge myself or if I try and don't make it I give up altogether. Here I have a place to say I want to be healthy, feel good about who I am again, live a long time with my husband and children by my side, without the necessary how many lbs in how many day's... it's just too much pressure for me.
good luck to everyone here on your journey to a healthier happier you !! |

I am a binger when home alone, so tonight I am going to my in-law's to clear out some hedges that are overgrown instead of sitting in front of the tv with a bag of chips waiting for everyone to come home
Wish me luck

| Motivation | Weekends "Derail" Me... (?) | May 11 2009 15:22 (UTC) |

Keeping track on cc I also was slipping on the weekends.... then I started adding in all the extra chores I do over the weekend...scrubbing floors, gardening, painting, etc and found I am burning WAY more calories than sitting on my butt at work... so I think that as long as you are keeping active a little bit of a "Treat" (not cheat) on the weekend is OK. Just make smart choices about what to have... good quality ingreadients means you need less to satisfy the craving (lets be honest NEED). |

| Calorie Count | what to put in activity log? PLEASE HELP! | May 08 2009 18:27 (UTC) |
|
I am new to this site as well but,I try to put in anything that is not an everyday kind of thing. So washing dishes and walking from room to room is already figured into your calories burned when you put in that you are lightly active... but raking leaves, yard work and/or a walk around the neighborhood is extra effort and ought to be logged.
Good luck in attaining your goal weight.

Riders Instantly slim you ... my faves... now I am 70lbs over my goal weight so I like the slimming feature... but there are no gaps in the back, the pockets lie flat and has a tummy panel that keeps the front from "pooching" price is right to under $50 at most places. Also make dress pants with the same features. |

Congrats on the loss, I have finally decided to make the difference for ME and I am working very hard at it. I sometimes feel like I have never been able to finish anything so my mom just thinks this is another of my failures waiting to happen. This time I want to prove her wrong.
Keep working and before long she won't be able to help herself and will say something nice.
