Hello all!  I'm glad to see everyone making such fantastic progress with their November goals.

I spent the past weekend with my mom, and we were able to get in some good walking.  Friday we covered 1.5 miles and Sunday we covered 3.5 miles.

Total miles 16.5 / miles to go 83.5

While I have not walked much today (1.5 miles around campus), I would like to mention that I made it through my first every spin class (a 50 minute long spin class)!

Side note - I may not be able to walk tomorrow - even with the seat padding present, I still feel like I literally got kicked in the rear.  Muscles I didn't know I had hurt.  But good hurt.  Anyway...

8.2 miles total / 91.8 miles to go

I promise to start push-ups soon.

Welcome to our two newest challengers - good luck with your goals for this month!

Hello all!

It looks like everyone made wonderful progress this October!

As for me...

Defense of paper...Check!

Comprehensive exams...Passed! Check!!

I am now officially ABD - all but dissertation!

Anyhoo, I will take over the November challenge again as promised.  Thank you foiegras for running it in my absence!

I have some errands to run, but I will have the November challenge up by the end of the day.

DON'T PANIC. I'm sure someone in this group knows where their towel is...

Okay, enough Douglas Adams references.

It's pretty easy to set up a new month - just copy, past, and edit from last month.  After that, you just spend a little time up front adding people's goals.  Unfortunately, that's time I don't have.

But, no panic attacks!  Panic attacks and walking do not mix!  Okay, back to financial accounting...

Hi all,

2nd year summer paper + comprehensive exams in October = little time for anything else.

I've managed to get in about 50 miles (mostly walking on campus) despite all the flooding and heavy rains around Atlanta.

I will not be able to setup this group next month.  I have my exams October 9 - 13 (getting my PhD in Accounting), and then I will be in Italy Oct 15 - 26.  So, I'll pretty much be away from here all of October.

Would anyone like to run the group next month? I can take over again in November, but for now I need to focus on my studies (and then on wine).

Good luck to you all, and hopefully I'll see you in November!

I too have been sick plus I have a research project to present before faculty next week, so I will be disappearing until Friday.  I am keeping track of my walking and push-ups, so I'll add it all in this weekend.  I hope everyone has a good week!

Hello all!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  I feel like the past weekend was spent eating...and eating...and eating, but happily I gained 0 pounds!  I did get in a small walk Friday with my mom, but Saturday put me temporarily out of the walking game.  While walking in the lake (where we were visiting) with my dogs, I stepped down on a particularly sharp mussel and it sliced a large gouge in my right heel.  Until it heals up a bit my walking is rather limited.   Hopefully it will be better by week's end and I can do some catch-up work.  I did get in 5 more push-ups.

10.54 miles total / 89.46 miles to go

 9 push-ups total / 141 push-ups to go

Hello all!  I think I've added & updated everyone that needs adding/updating.  I'll be out of town (again) for Labor Day weekend, so I won't be checking in again until Monday evening.

2b - I hope everything turns out okay with your daughter

**sending good thoughts your way**

I fit in a mile yesterday and 3.72 miles today, plus 4 push-ups.  This is the first time in years that I have been able to do a proper push-up, so I'm even more excited that I did 4 in a row!  Only 146 to go!

Welcome to all new walkers/runners/movers & shakers; we're glad to have you in our group.  I can't wait to see everyone's progress!

Totals

8.34 miles total / 91.66 miles to go

4 push-ups total / 146 push-ups to go

2 miles today around campus and 1.62 miles tonight with the dogs (and it was a PERFECT evening for walking!)  I'll start push-ups tomorrow.

3.62 miles total / 96.38 miles to go

I think everyone has been added; if you don't see your name then I had a question for you and I've sent you a message.  Once I hear back from you I'll add you to the list.

I'll be in the North GA mountains until Thursday night (b-day present for my sweet husband), so I'll check back in then and add anyone else who'd like to join.

Please check to make sure that I have your goals correctly listed - send me a message if you need something changed.

Happy September!

Hello to all the new and returning walkers!  I'm in my office at school right now, so I just wanted to drop this quick note that I will add everyone's goals to the thread later this evening.  Happy walking/running/skipping...

Hello all!  My total for the month came to 82 miles, plus anything I can get in this evening.  Family events and rain kind of threw off my last couple of days.

Congratulations to everyone for all the hard work!!  Ready to do it again?  Maybe add in some upper body too?  Then click here!  I look forward to seeing you all reach your goals again in September!

2b - what a wonderful way to burn calories - the stress is just there to boost your performance.  Also, it is situational stress and thus temporary; much better than long term chronic stress!  Congratulations on your huge burn today!

Everyone is doing so well!  I'm going to start the September thread in a few days (I'll post the link when I have it ready) and I want to add an upper body challenge for those that are interested.  Maybe an option between push-ups, planks etc.  Let me know if you have any ideas and/or preferences.

For today 2.6 miles this morning and 2.5 miles this evening

76.6 total / 23.4 miles to go (average 3.9 miles/day - easy!)

8/23 - We had a wonderful morning at the river park - the dogs even got to go for a swim!  Miles = 4.3 (uphill and downhill over and over again)

8/24 - 1.1 miles from gym to office, 2 mile indoor run/walk and 2.9 miles this evening with dogs

71.5 miles total / 28.5 miles to go (average of 4.1 per day)

I will beat August!

Okay - so here's the report since my last post

8/20 - 3.5 walk/run at gym 2.1 with doggies

8/21 - 3.7 in the evening with doggies

8/22 - 4.1 with husband and doggies!

This evening's walk was still hot and humid but...there was a cool breeze that surfaced multiple times during the walk, the humidity was not as bad (i.e. I did not feel as though I was pushing through the air on this walk); basically it felt like one of those late summer afternoons with a hint of fall in the next month or so.  In Atlanta.  In August.  It was a good evening.

Tomorrow morning we're hitting the river park, but until then...

61.2 total / 38.8 miles to go

8/19 4.1 miles with my doggies - with near record humidity!

47.8 total / 52.2 miles to go

I will definitly go over 50 tomorrow as I plan to both lift and run at the gym tomorrow morning!  Plus, the dogs must have their evening walk...

2b - congrats on the 300,000+ steps!!!

Another win in the quest to make up for my laziness at the beginning of the month!

8/18:  6 miles total for the day

Round trip to gym from office: 1 mile

Run/Walk on indoor track: 2 miles

Night walk with dogs: 3 miles

43.7 miles total / 56.3 miles to go

Thank you 2beittybitty! I actually went over 4.5 for today...

8/17 2.5 mile walk/jog intervals on the (indoor) track at the gym and another 2.2 miles tonight in between some very random thunderstorms!

37.7 total / 62.3 miles to go

12.3 miles until my halfway point!

Also, tonight I tallied my total miles walked since March (that's when I started counting - I then joined the walking challenges here in June).  From March until tonight I've logged 323.2 miles!

8/14 3.1 miles

8/15 1 mile (cut short due to rain!)

8/16 3.6 mile hike this morning

67 miles in 15 days = about 4.5 miles per day!!  I think I'll also need to double up on the walks to make my goal.

Hello all!  I've been a little lazy with posting, but I have been getting in some walking (just not as much as I'd like).  Everyone seems to be doing really well, congrats to all!

Since my last post I've added another 10.3 miles

22.3 total / 77.7 miles to go

(I really need to get going this month - hopefully the scattered thunderstorms over the next couple of days will suck some of the humidity out of the air!)

Also, I think I'll add in a supplemental push-up component to this challenge next month (just for those that are interested - I'll still keep the walking the main focus).

soccermomma2 - you've been added to the 75 mile goal.  Godd luck with your walking and I hope your foot feel better!

I walked 4 miles yesterday ( 2 morning, 2 evening) and just got back from a massive 5.6 mile hike this morning.  Usually 5.6 miles isn't too bad, but this was through the Roswell, GA and Chattahoochee River National Park.  This means lots and lots and lots of hills.  My butt and thighs are really feeling it, but that's a good thing, right?  The other good thing is that long hilly hike = an afternoon full of napping dogs.

asuwest - your'e added!

I also missed walking the first few days of August (family wedding weekend), so I'm in the same boat.  However, several weekend hikes with the dogs should take care of the missed days.  Good luck with your walking!

Sometimes the top of my arch will cramp if my shoes are tied too tightly, and that ache can last for days if I don't catch it right away and correct the problem.  However, I don't think it ever made my calf cramp.  Hopefully a day of rest will take care of your foot issue.  I wish you a speedy recovery!
