I have very thin hair and have lost more over the years.  A nurse friend of mine suggested pre-natal vitamins (over the counter...of course).  They strengthen hair and nails for pregnant mothers.  I have been taking them for a month or so and haven't experienced any weird side effects.

I would suggest speaking to a health professional before taking these vitamins as a precaution, but it might be something that you and your doctor can discuss as an option.

I have spend a significant amount of time studying marketing research techniques and they are not as accurate as you would think.  Psychologically speaking, people tend to say what they think people want to hear in focus groups because they want to give the "right" answer.

So, again, I blame those in charge of the programming for playing into the falsehoods that people put forth.

Trhawley...It sounds like you have some pent up hostility regarding opinionated women?  Not saying that it the case...but that is what it sounds like.

I think we can all agree that

2. Women get the worst of it.

3. Generalizing either sex is pointless because most people are beyond stereotypes.  Doesn't this contradict #2?

4. People who make decisions regarding what movies get produced or shows that get syndicated are the people who perpetuate these stereotypes. No, people who chose to watch those shows or movies are the one's who perpetuate those stereotypes.

Floggingsully:

I am not generalizing either sex by stating that women get the worst stereotypes thrust upon them.  I am generalizing the concept.

I firmly believe that if executives chose less stereotypical actors or roles the neilsen (sp?) ratings would not change.  Most of these decisions are based upon how they think the populous will respond, which has nothing to do with reality.  Neilsen (sp?) ratings are highly inaccurate.

I think we can all agree that

1. The media is unfair to both women and men (in different ways).

2. Women get the worst of it.

3. Generalizing either sex is pointless because most people are beyond stereotypes.  Women tend to do this...is just as pointless as men tend to do this because it has nothing to do with the individual.

4. People who make decisions regarding what movies get produced or shows that get syndicated are the people who perpetuate these stereotypes.

5. Bickering and gets us nowhere.

As I lose/gain weight the size differences between my right and left boob are more apparent.  It is something that bothered me when I first noticed and again when my roommate told me that she could see it as well.  But there is nothing I would be able to do about it, other then possibly plastic surgery and I refuse to go there.

Basically, I have resigned to the fact that they will never be twins, but the are mine. Wink

Agreed.  Delicatessen is an excellent and odd film.  Supertroopers is a guilty pleasure of mine because it's stupid, silly and hilarious.

If I could add some more mainstream movies to the list

1. American Psycho - Half naked Christian Bale and a must see.

2. Donnie Darko - Odd and awesome.

3. A Clockwork Orange - Disturbing, yet enthralling.

And last but my favorite new film of the year...funny, thrilling, deep, and AMAZING

4. The Air I Breathe - Kevin Bacon, Forest Whitaker, Brendan Fraser and Sarah Michelle Gellar star in this Jieho Lee-directed drama that mines four basic human emotions -- love, pleasure, sadness and joy -- for inspiration. A banker discovers true happiness; a mobster finds hope; a celebrity sees life lose its luster; and a doctor wrestles with matters of the heart that can't be addressed within the confines of an operating room. Julie Delpy and Andy Garcia co-star.

I agree with keb, throughout the past few months I have benefited in so many ways from this site, not just by losing weight but by eating healthy.  Frankly, I don't care who pays them to post banners on their site.  As long as I can continue using this site for free.

On another note, these ridiculous ads motivate me to do it the right way because short cuts are never the answer and these ads just remind me of that fact.  Laughing
