Had a whole 300 cal deficit today, but I guess it's better than nothing. I burned about 200 min cals on top of what I usually burn per hour, making my total amt burned to equal to a little over 1700. I consumed about 1400 cals. Did turbo jam sculpt and part 2 of abs. So, I'm starting over again w/balance of -300. |

Welcome to new members, and it's great to see my semi-twin, eugenie, back! So yesterday I took a break from the shred again and did an abs workout by Cindy Whitmarsh and some other cardio/weights thing by Marco (?). I didn't like either as much as I like Jillian, though, and I burnt about 50 cals less. I reallly want to try the Turbo Jam! |

Welcome to all of the new people! I don't get on here nearly as much as I used to. I want that to change! This really help keep me motivated...or maybe I was more motivated which caused me to check this more often? Either way, I want to get back into the swing of things. I've been having to get up really early lately, so I've been slacking on eating right and exercise. I didn't do the 30 day shred yesterday and I only had a deficit of about 200.
I want to do the 30 DS today but I'm soo tired.
I've been so busy and not on here that I forgot today was weigh-in. I'm going to weigh myself on Mon, instead, bc I just had that big mac meal. Jmom, I really don't know what to tell you about your job. I can't tell you to quit, but at the same time, I don't want you working w/people you're not happy with. People can truly make or break the workplace. It's not like you can ignore the person that you don't get along with, either, since she's your boss. All I can really tell you is to try a different method of coping with her and try a different method of conveying what you need. I say this bc what you're doing isn't working well enough for you, from what you say, so the obvious answer would be to try something different. If it gets bad enough, though, I would quit. If you're thinking of that, maybe start looking for something else while you're still working there...just for backup plan. Good luck. |

Terrdog, I totally understand what you mean by wanting to eat things quickly so they aren't in the house!! I ALWAYS do that, and it sucks because I don't even get to enjoy them as much bc I'm trying to scarf them down!!!! Good job walking! Awww your daughter sounds soo cute!!!! Wyo, I'm sorry about your viral infection :-/ At least you know the 9 lbs are water weight. It always seems like something's getting in the way of weight loss, doesn't it?! Definitely don't concentrate on your weight! Concentrate more on how you feel at this time. I hope that you get better soon. Best wishes :) Jmom, I am by no means skinny, but thanks so much!!! I have a very high body fat percentage for some reason...always been like this. I'm sooo anal about my deficits. I actually wonder if it's too silly lolol. Thanks for the reinforcement, though :):) 500-700 cal deficits are GREAT!! Oh, btw, I'm only 5'1.5 - 5'2...so 120 isn't that big a deal :-/ I really wish I was 120 after eating a BIG MEAL!!!! When I weigh myself, I must admit that it's in the morning after I haven't eaten anything and after my initial heaviness goes away. (I know, sounds odd...I usually am very heavy when I first wake up, but then my muscles, or something, relax?)----------65 minutes on the elliptical?! YOU GO GIRL! Smelling like a goat is always a good sign of a good workout :P Oops, I forgot all bout measuring, so I'm not sure about your Q about boobs. |

Jmom, I'm so happy that work is going much better for you!! You sound like you formulated a good game plan in your head and stuck with it. It's also great that people noticed your weight loss! That definitely has to be a motivator for you. If two classes are too much for you at this time, don't take them! Like you said, this isn't a race. Sounds morbid, but you don't really know how much time you have. You might as well find a good balance between work, school, family, friends, and other hobbies/goals that you may have. I understand that there are some situations where people ARE forced to make work their lives, but it always saddens me because I wonder if they ever really have time do develop and maintain deep connections/relations with others (besides their SOs). To me, time for friendships, family, and a little downtime for "me" come before making that extra money or getting that piece of paper from school that says you did A, B, and C. ------------ I was definitely feeling better and stronger doing the 30 DS! About being tired. Yes, I get enough rest (over 8 hours/night, averaging around 10-12), and I always take my Century mulitvitamin (offbrand of Centrum). I learned awhile ago that I need it for iron. If I don't take 1 in 3 days I feel so lethargic...moreso than I do now.------------------I hope that your ankle gets better soon so that you can continue the shred! Great job, Leanne!!! Great job to you, too, Tod!! It's so great to share your victories!! Glad to hear that spreading meals out is already working for you!! To answer your question, I guess I mainly feel tired right when I wake up (which is why I tend to stay in bed so long), after working (which is pretty normal I would guess), and sometimes after working out (which strikes me as odd because I thought that we're supposed to be more energized after a good workout. Kde, keep going. Keep trying. Don't give up whatever you do. I know that it's a gut-sinking feeling to see the scale go up 2 lbs, but in reality, 2 lbs could just be water weight. I understand your need for a quick fix, but most likely, even if something did work, you'd end up on a yo-yo dieting rollercoaster and end up being heavier than when you started. Please do things the healthy way for both your physical AND mental well-being. I can't sympathize with you having to go out for coffee/food to feel better, to be honest, but what you're saying makes sense and it's great that you are conscientious about why you feel how you do based on previous life events. Maybe try some experiments with yourself? It will be more time consuming, but may pay off...perhaps go out to get your coffee and/or food and then bring it back to your house to consume. This way, you'll start off having things from a restaurant, so you'll feel fulfilled in that way. However, you'll also start associating eating in your HOUSE as something positive, as there's really no reason to feel inadequate about the food you're eating since it's bought from a restaurant. Soon, maybe you can buy half a meal from a restaurant take it home to have it with a beverage and another item of food that's already in the house. Then...maybe completely stop going to the restaurant to get food? I hope this makes sense. There are many different things you can try and this is only 1 ex. My fav exercise used to be the elliptical, but now I don't know what I'd do w/o the shred. I never used to incorporate weight training. I'm not sure what I was thinking... Update: Weighed in on Fri, but didn't get a chance to post. SW - 125-130 CW - 120 - 123 (2 dif scales) Goal Weight #1 = 115 by June 25 (UH OH this is coming up soon) Goal Weight #2 = 105 Exercise...I didn't do anything on Sunday. I did the shred on Fri I think...which would be about day 9 (maybe day 10, but I'm goin w/the smaller one). On Saturday I was very proud of myself: I did the shred pt. 2 and pt. 1!!! It felt so great! Though, I swear I looked fatter when I finished :-/ Of course, I ate like a pig on Saturday. I still need to have at least a 500 calorie def to get back to where I was before, which was at 2200. I plan on doing the shred today and having a deficit of 900, including the shred, which should bring me to 2600 def. |

Yay! I did day 8 of the 30 day shred..or maybe it's 9. I know, I should keep track. I did level 1 today at the gym and used 8 lb weights for the chest flies. I tried walking on the treadmill, but I was too tired. I'm starting to think something is wrong with me...being tired all the time and all.

I'm exactly like you, Tod. I don't like eating smaller meals throughout the day since I'm not hungry. I absolutely HATE eating when I'm not hungry, but realized that eating only 1 big meal plus snacking before bed is affecting my progress. I've started putting out fruit and hard boiled eggs in the fridge for easy access. So far today, I've only had an egg and iced coffee, but figure it's better than nothing. Soon your body will become more used to getting breakfast and lunch and you will actually WANT to eat then. You'll also most likely become less hungry for dinner. Btw, you were doing EIGHT LBS. weights?!?!?! OMG. Those side lunges w/front arm raises would KILL me using 8 lbs. Wowww. Jmom, your plan sounds reasonable...very reasonable. I'm not sure if you meant that you'd be doing 28 min on the elliptical, too or if that's for just the shred (including warm-up/cool down). I really don't think 30 minutes out of the day is much and I def think you'll be able to do it. Also, the ab exercises at night is a good idea - multitasking. The OTHER good thing about going to the gy m after work is that you don't have to worry bout showering before work then showering again. Time to work out really adds up when you factor in warm-up, cooldown, changing clothes, showering, fixing hair/makeup - it all adds up!!! That's good you're trying to limit yourself w/how much you take on at work. I've found that people who are always "there" to do extra work are looked upon as dependable, but not necessarily respected and are much too often taken advantage of. Sometimes the extra things they do will be overlooked and someone who doesn't usually go out of their way to do something extra will be recognized more (bc people aren't used to that) than the person who ALWAYS goes out of her way. Good luck with everything :) Update: I really don't feel like exercising today. Yesterday's cal deficit was 500, so that brings me to a total of 2200. whoopie.

Jmom, level 2 killed me lol. I couldn't just take 5 second breaks. Wow. I also couldn't use the 5 lbs weights (except for with the ab exercise), and even the 3 lbs were killing me. Silly me didn't do the workout in tennis shoes, either; I was barefoot. I do recommend wearing shoes (as most people do) bc I hurt my toe while jumping back from a plank position. Wow I can't wait to do this level more and become more in shape. I def like the challenge. This level incorporates MANY plank positions, which are good for working your core and arms, while also doing separate leg exercises. Great job not going for that 3rd helping of chips! I hate non-filling foods that are full of cals!! They're so deceptive! But yes, salsa barely has any cals, you ate baked (as opposed to the regular) chips, and they say 1 glass of wine a day is good for you - so you fulfilled your salt craving in a healthier way :) Good luck to you on your powerpoint presentation! I love those things. |

lovin, have a great time jumping this wknd! i've never been, but it's always been something that i've wanted to try. tod, great job staying away from drinking and smoking and keeping ur cals low. if you have enough room for weights in your suitcase, you can take the 30 DS w/you. it's not the same as watching the dvd, but what i do when i want to do it at the gym, is take a print out of the moves with me. i do them with my ipod on and use the gyms weights. not sure what level you're on, but i have a printout of workout #1. if you're not used to the moves, it might be hard to understand what i'm talking about, but if you pretty much know them, the cheat sheet's a little reminder of what's next about approx how many reps. update: did day 7 of shred yesterday. said i'd do levels 1 & 2 but only did 1 bc i felt dizzy afterwards. will probably just attempt #2 today for the first time. only deficit of 300 yesterday, bringing me to total of 1700. |

Kde, I love that "I'd rather sweat than jiggle."!! Wow, you are active w/all that binke riding, tennis, and hiking! Wyo, glad you had a good time on vaca! It's good you're not getting on the scale too soon. You most likely have some water weight that will come off right away. You don't want to discourage yourself! Jmom, good luck going back to work. It's perfectly normal to be nervous going back when you haven't been in awhile. I wish you the best and am glad that you know you can turn to people for support. And btw, you said you haven't worn a two-piece...weren't you the one who wore your daughter's two piece out on the deck ;) Lovin, good luck starting over again. I completely know what you mean by finding any excuse to be relaxed and enjoy the holiday. I love your avatar, btw. Terr, thanks for the chai tea recipe. I bought some Turkey Hill sugar free chai tea, but I don't think it has any milk mixed in. I might just have to mix it myself w/milk! I'd never had it from starbucks or anywhere before, so wasn't sure what it usually tasted like. As for me... As stated in my last post, I expected to drink a lot on Sat (the post was on Fri). I didn't drink much the whole wknd, and I only went over my calories by about 700. So, my total deficit for this whole time is 1400. This isn't good. It's kinda sad. I comfort myself in knowing that I'm doing the 30 DS and not only relying on restricting, though. I think that I'm going to try to up the 30 DS today, and do levels 1 and 2. I'm excited to try!! Have a great day, everyone :) |

Jmom, hope your cramps got better. I'm due to get menstrual cramps soon. I get horrible ones, but hopefully the exercise has helped. Weigh-in : 124 lbs. Good news is, I'm expecting my period on Monday, so perhaps it's water weight? Didn't do shred today, but tmrw will be day 5 for me. Ate: 700 cals (I know, bad) Burned: about 1700 cals Total deficit: 2100 cals (didn't have deficit yesterday). This sounds bad, but I purposely restricted more today to make up for tmrw. I'm allowing myself to go over my burnt cals by 500 since I know it's a drinking day. My goal is to not go over cals allowed for day + 500.
I hope everyone has a great wknd! |

I haven't weighed in yet because I'm waiting for the initial heaviness that I feel right when I wake up to subside. Tod, I don't mind if you talk about smoking weed at all. I don't look down on you in any way. One of my good friends smokes every day and he's one of the most intelligent people (street and book smarts) that I've ever met. Myself, I've done my fair share of drugs in the past, but have become too paranoid to do them now - either that, or the side effects were nasty. I used to smoke weed every night to put me to sleep, snorted coke for over a year on a consistent basis, shot heroin at least 2x, and tripped on shrooms. On support forums like these, anyone who has a problem with that kind of stuff can just (a) join another thread (b) leave the forum (c) ignore the drug talk (d) shove it. You're the one who started this thread, so feel free to say whatever you want! |

So has anyone else noticed that that after beginning the 30 day shred, you feel hungrier in the morning? I'm barely EVER hungry in the morning and could go, usually, until 4 PM before food, if not even later. Around 10 AM, sometimes earlier, I now get this empty feeling in my stomach. Weird. Yesterday wasn't so great, but wasn't so bad. Did day 3 of shred and deficit of 300 cals (total 1100 this wk). I bought squash, thinking it was butternut squash, to make those squash fries, but I ended up actually getting the spaghetti squash :-/ I still like that, though, too. What's the best way to cut the butternut squash? Do I need a REALLY sharp knife? |

Jmom, that's a good idea about Advil. Didn't even think of that! Did you say you ONLY walked 5 miles on the treadmill? Umm..okay, so I feel lazy lol. I only did the 20 min workout (30DS) and wanted to jog, but my legs hurt. Maybe if I take myself to the gym to do the workout (I typed it out), I'll be more likely to use a machine there instead of relying on myself to go outside and jog. Btw, you def did lighten up my day when I read about the bikini! lol Tode, I am not experiencing knee pain...at least not yet. Yesterday I only had a deficit of about 300 cals, which brings me to a total deficit of 800. |

Wyo, 100 cal deficit is still a deficit! That's great you could have some beers and still lose. Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of self control. I hope that everyone else is doing well, too :) Yesterday I had about a 500 calorie deficit. I really wanted to go jogging after doing day 1 of the 30-day shred, but I couldn't because my legs hurt too much. I guess the 30-day shred got to me after all because they hurt even more today. I just figured that they hurt so much yesterday, still, from my attempts at jogging this past Sat.
Oh well. Today I got up pretty late, so I've only had an apple, handful of ff popcorn, and an iced coffee w/cream and equal, which amts to about 150 cals. I'm about to go get my soup cans and do the 30-day shred day 2. |

Tode, I think I might try to take a break, too, from alcohol, though not until June. I'm so used to drinking every week that I'll probably start just w/one week and see how that goes. You're right, though, going out drinking with friends definitely will be a nice reward for you to look forward to. Jehz, that's great that your swim suit feels looser! Like people say, pay attention to measurements/how your clothes fit vs. the number on the scale. I actually like getting on the scale everyday to know what's going on, like...if I don't weight myself for a week and find myself 5 lbs heavier (just an example, but any #), I might question whether or not that's real weight or water weight. But, if I weigh myself everyday and in 1 day see that I've "put on" 5 lbs, I remain calmer knowing that it's just water weight. Leanne, thanks for sharing the wonderful recipes! I might try a similar version with some frozen zucchini wheels that I have. I'm sure they won't be as good as fresh veggies, but I guess I should eat what I have in the freezer for now :) I also read somewhere that you can use carrots instead of squash! I've never tried, but people claim that they taste like sweet potato fries! Kde, I wish you the best. Welcome to the group :) Update: I weighed myself today and I'm 122-124 (depending on the scale...ugh, don't ask). My legs still hurt from attempting to job/run this past Saturday. I just started doing the 30-day shred, and actually didn't find it as hard as I thought I would...very surprising. According to my HRM, I burnt about 200 cals doing that. Not much, but for the time that I did it, it's not too bad. I want to attempt to jog, but I don't want to hurt myself even more. So far I've eaten a handful of grapes and some leftover mac and chz. My total consumption so far's probably around 400, which also includes 2 iced coffees w/equal and creamer. |

Tode, great job not smoking :) I really wish that I could give up drinking. I only do it once or twice (usually once) a week, but whenever I do, I eat a lot afterwards. I mean, there are the few exceptions when I'm too drunk to eat or when I eat healthier food, but usually it's bad food. I just feel like I neeed that one day out the week to kick back and drink to relax. I calculated how many calories that I overate yesterday, and it was about 800. I know it's bad, but today I'm only aiming for 700. I might be going out to eat, so I'll get a salad without dressing and soup w/maybe a baked potato plain. |

I went to the bar last night...silly me. I did okay with eating until the chocolate nuts and popcorn. I had 2 eggs, 1/2 lb steamed shrimp, salad w/o dressing, 2 bags of tofu noodles w/mushroom spagh sauce and added mushrooms and onions w/a little ff parm cheese. The drinking killed me, though. I had 3 beers and about 4 mixed drinks ugh. I'm guessing that I went over my calorie limit by at least 500.

I hope everyone's doing well!! fatdoc, you worked off 1200 cals cycling?!?! That's great!!!! I have NEVER worked off 1000 in one gym session. Actually, the most I've ever worked off has supposedly been 600 (elliptical machine), though I'm not sure how accurate the cal burner was. Great job, tod, having a 500 cal deficit! That's good you got to eat something you enjoy, yet still have a def :) One day until weigh-in!! Ugh, it would figure that my friend called me up to go out to eat tonight the day before weigh-in. Update: yesterday I had a 500 calorie deficit (no exercise), so I think that brings me to a total of 800 calorie def combining yest and the day before. |

I'm not sure how much sugar that you want to allow into your diet, but maybe suck on a lollipop. This will give you a taste of something in your mouth, plus make you feel like your hand is "occupied," too. If that isn't around, gum might also do the trick for awhile. I'm not saying to have 10 lollipops a day, but I'm doubting 1 or 2 will hurt you as long as you count them towards your allowed cals for the day. |

So today went well for me...considering. I had a deficit of 300 calories. I know, I know...not many, but I think it's good considering that I am unable to exercise until the doctor gives the OK. If I'd exercised, I'd probably be looking more at a deficit of at least 700 calories, but that will come in time. Tomorrow I'm aiming for a deficit of 600 calories, and I'll be able to find out if I can take walks, at least, or something. |

So many of you are very inspiring, as you all have lost so much weight!! Aperfectblink and Eugenie we are very similar in our current/goal weights and height! It will definitely be more motivating, to me, to see both of you progress! What are your eating habits like? Wyo, a 3-mile walk/run is great! I wish that I could run! I hope that your ankle feels better soon. A 500 calorie deficit is great! As suggest by Tod, here's my full info (all bundled together for one post): age: 25
Update: I've decided to start eating small meals throughout the day. I got into a habit of not eating until after 4 or 5 PM at night - sometimes even later. At first, this seemed good, because I figured that I'd keep my metabolism up with coffee (I'm still not actually sure if this really works), but I then began to eat crap later at night and just associate night with eating. While I love being able to "look forward to" a feast at night, I think I'll have greater success in snacking throughout the day. I wake up pretty late, but I'm going to try and eat six meals/day. So far today, I've had cereal w/FF milk, coffee (equal and cream), and a couple bites of mac n cheese for a total of about 250 cals. |

Congrats on your loss, da1gal! Carmen, I do have a high body fat percentage. When I was in better shape and had it taken, it was 24% (I was 110 lbs and I worked out more). I'm guessing mine might up to 30% now even. I actually purposely took this picture not sucking it in so you all could get a better feel for how I "really" look, but I see what you're saying about how it could just be the angle or the way I'm situated that makes me look bigger. Unfortunately, I wasn't bloated (much if at all), and I definitely wasn't sticking my stomach out. You all are right about weight training. |
