| Fitness | Insanity Workout? Beyond p90x?! | Sep 01 2009 23:20 (UTC) |

^ For my first week and a half, I couldn't get through an insanity workout without feeling like I was going to toss my cookies when there was only 10 minutes left. It's some tough stuff. And I was in the same boat you are, P90x didn't do enough for me. XD
Recoveerryy week. God, I am so grateful for it. My joints are bleh. I feel so tired. My back aches. But maaan my body composition is lookin' good. XD I start "month two" on the 6th. I'm a bit frightened because there's a lot of push-ups, and I don't have range of motion or speed with my push-ups (unless I'm on my knees.) Do you guys listen to music while doing insanity? For the first week or so I didn't, but I gotta admit, the music they chose for insanity is gawd awful boring. |

try taking two bananas, chopping it up, and sticking it in the freezer for awhile. Once it's firm enough, throw it in the food processor. Blend blend blend until there's no more chunks (you'll have to scrape at the sides, but don't add any water!) Voila! Banana soft-serve! Your life will be changed after eating some. ;) |

| Fitness | P90X users...for 10lb weight loss goal, do I do Lean or Classic? | Aug 27 2009 00:11 (UTC) |

Either will give you weight loss, given you have a deficit while you use it. If you're more comfortable with cardio and less strength training, go for Lean. I say for better results and a tougher routine, go Classic. :) |

Find your triggers. This is something that requires patience and trial and error. It's taken me months, but I've learned the emotional part (self-esteem issues, tiredness, disapointment) will make me want to binge. I've also learned certain foods like high-fat, high-carb foods will make me want to binge too. So I work around that. Some tips: - GUM. Lots. And lots. Of gum. - stumbleupon.com when you feel the impulse - Get away from the kitchen/food. Don't go in there until you feel in control. Don't let yourself talk you into going in there.. No excuses! Make it a rule. - Tell someone. Call someone up and talk to them about it. It's terribly embaressing at first, but letting someone know creates support from someone who might sympathize, and also distracts you for awhile! - Draw. Journal. Dance. Do something to express yourself. The general idea is to figure out what's buggin' yah, stay away from the food when you feel the impulse, and distract yourself like there's no tomorrow. It also helps to join a support group (Overeaters Anonymous, or hell, even start a group in the motivational/health&support!), and/or some sort of system that shows how long you've gone without binging. I'm less impulsed when I see more smiley faces then frownie faces on my calendar. ;) |

Looks like with all these suggestions, I'm going to have me enough suggestions to keep my motivation for months! lol. I'm such a slow reader. XP |

You need either: - Dumbells - Pull-up bar OR - Resistance bands - Door extention. You can use the resistance bands + door extention in place of the pull-up bar if it's cheaper, or use it in place of dumbells. :3 |

Original Post by gddrdld: YES. Just think of it of Plyo X on Cocaine + Steroids & some gnarly upper body strength training thrown in. Insanity is quick, and it's interval training. You push it to your limit, and believe me there is none of the half-assed moves you'd get from other test groups from P90x and such. You only get 30 second breaks between intervals, and it is gawd awful tough. I'm willing to show my day 60 pictures at the beginning of August. First Sunday. You'll have proof that this is an amazing program and worth the money investment. ;) |

I'm doing it. I've got deluxe. WORTH EVERY SINGLE CENT!! But only if you've got the balls to stick with it. This is more tough then anything P90x and Chalean Extreme ever did! I thought Plyo X was hard, but gaawwddd. The warm up is tough, the workout is harder. For the first week, 10 minutes before the workout was done I felt like I was going to toss my cookies! If you are out of shape, this isn't your gig. I'm on day 18. :) I have not taken my measurements again, but I recently took another shot to add to my "before" collection, and the results are there. I've never felt so toned and strong, even though I am heavier then 137. Even at 137, I never looked this sexy. Shaun T was suprisingly not annoying at all. I didn't like him in HHA and thought he was waaaayyy too arrogant, and when I first heard of this program, I thought it was full of crap. Now that I'm doing it, I'm glad I gave it a chance. Despite the intensity, these videos are fun as hell and always quick paced. Unlike Chalene's and Tony's tendecy to be like "oh you can take it down a notch" or chit-chatting during the workout. Naw. Shaun is "YOU can do this. Do it. Get it done. Dig deeper. Gogogo" there is barely any chit chat. It's awesome. Funfunfun~!! Anyone want to start a group? I'm always in for a support team! |

Tell them to go shove it up their arses and find something better to do with their pitiful lives then gossip about someone's body? Do you really want acceptance from a bunch of women who have nothing worth living for aside from their children and gossiping about other women? Really? They need to find a hobby, and I reccomend you tell that to their faces next time they start talking crap.
Word of advice: When you got self-esteem, you don't *need* anyone's approval. You won't feel ashamed about your body because you accept it. Not to say that you wont have a day where you look in the mirror and say "meh." at what you see, but you defiantly wont be ashamed of who you are. My suggestions: A) Therapy. B) At home cognitive therapy. Address your fears, respond to them. There's tons of methods of cognitive therapy you can do RIGHT NOW! That's right! Google is a wonder, but an easy one that I do is to take a piece of paper and make two columns. Now, write what's on your mind, and do not filter it. After writing it down, respond. For example, I once wrote "I am a failure at my job and no one will love me if I fail at this. I am unlovable, and everyone hates me." That was my exact thought. Word. For. Word. Pretty ridiculous, right? I responded with "Psht. You're still new at this job, and you'll get better because I *know* you have that ambition and capability. No one around you hates you, and they defiantly wouldn't if you failed at this job." I then went on to list all the people who love me and think I'm amazing. Needless to say, my anxiety after that went down. C) Self-help books! Female empowerment, or just general self-esteem books from the library are SO SO SOOOO worth the time checking out! Amazon.com has some great reviews, but don't be afraid to check out some that you can't find on amazon.com. My self-esteem hit the roof when I started reading on how I could improve it. D) Surround yourself with positive people. My friends are all pessimistic, so I just go to blogs for my injection of positivity and optimism directly into my vains. The more positive and optimistic you are, the more likely your thinking will approve of how you look and realize that the mums who are gossiping are full of ****. C) http://www.wearetherealdeal.com
You are working on your body and improving it. You are a strong woman. You are a capable woman. You're a nice, cool, awesome, freakin' rad woman. Those two women who're talking crap about you don't deserve your time, so don't give it to them. Put yourself in lala land, give them the bird (even if it's only happening in your mind), and stop caring. I know, I know, it's hard. But you gotta keep working. It's hard work! It takes dedication! Make it a goal to stop giving a crap about what they think about your bod. Tell them to cut it out. Do what you can. Make the best of your situation. It gets easier as you keep trying. <3 |

It is so crazy how alike you and I are. I'm 15 about-to-be 16 too. I got down to 137 via "dieting" and too much exercise last year, then October-November-December-Jan. creeped up on me and I got back to the 150's. I was 5'5" earlier this year, so you can see how terrible that felt, haha. I'm now down to 145 and 5'6", but you have I have very very similar ratios (and judging by the picture, this is probably the creeeeepiest thing someone on the internet could ever say, but our bodies look so much alike it's crazy.) I think it's so cool to find someone so similar to me roflmao. Anywhosal~! I think it's fine to want to lose weight. You're at the higher BMI scale, but still in the healthy range. Just.. don't get crazy with it. The scale is a bunch of horsesh*t 90% of the time, and setting a goal on measurements could potentially be disapointing later on. I don't see it being too much of a harm to have a 0.25-1 inch loss for every 2-3 weeks. Any gains should be looked at logically.. ie none of the "ZOMG I GAINED AN INCH ON MY ARMS EVEN THO I TOTALLY HAVE MORE MUSCLE TONE!!111" thing. Logic FTW! Make sure you're eating enough for your activity level. Be careful about how much you exercise. Endorphins are fun, buuuut, you can cause injury. I know my hamstrings haven't been nearly as flexible since I overexerted it once. I really regret doing that, and I had to take 2 weeks off from exercising to recover. Not. Fun. On average, a 60 to 90 minute workout is ALL you need, and you'll burn enough calories or build enough muscle to see some results next time you take your measurements. Food, well, you know the drill. Moderation, think intuitively, and don't get psycho about it. 'Dieting' at any age is no bueno. Real life eating is bueno, and especially as a teen.. Well, healthy eating is fine, but remember that you'll live with your food choices later on. Like cake? Moderate portion of cake! Or big portion! Just remember it all balances out later, and you freakin' love cake, and think life is better with it and you do your best to eat well at other times. ;) So. Yeah.
Use it responsibly. ;3 (P.S. That BMI chart = Lifesaver. Favorite that shiz and refer to it over any of the things CC's tools tell you. Just sayin'. Everyone seems to forget it alot.) |

| Young Calorie Counters | Why the Weight? | Aug 11 2009 06:10 (UTC) |

It started out as a self-esteem issue. Then I kept going because the health benefits were awesome. Now I just lose weight because I'm curious to see where I look and feel the best at. And I secretly would like to jiggle a little less. I know some things will always jiggle (see: boobs and booty) but I'd like it if my tummy looked less jiggly. It reminds me of jell-o. I don't like jell-o. It always freaked me out at a kid, and it's like my childhood fear has manifested as the stored fat on my stomach. Not such a bad thing on other people, but when it's on me it's kind of.. "eeks!" I mean that in the most non-offending way possible towards myself. XD I mean, my tummy has it's own cuteness, but the jiggle.. the jiiiigggllee~!!11two |

How about some sammies? Cheese sammie. PB sammie Pickle sammie (sounds weird, but it's sooo yuuummmyy) Creativity goes a long way when it comes to putting something between two pieces of bread. They're quiet too! Wraps also work, just make sure you find a way to keep any of the contents from coming out. Popcorn tends to not be that noisy of a snack, as long as you chew with your mouth closed. Also: Bananas. Bananas rule. Seriously. |

| Health & Support | What can I do to support someone who's not ready for recovery? | Aug 07 2009 17:34 (UTC) |
1 |
Youch guys, I see your point. If someone isn't ready to move forward with their lives, there's not a whole lot I can do to convince her otherwise... But, is there any subtle ways of hinting towards self-esteem growth or self-recovery? I mean, bluntly putting it makes someone in that position feel attacked, and victimized. That just makes them angry, and pushes them away from wanting to recover. Nothin' is worse then feeling that if they did start to consider recovery, they'd have to deal with a "I told you so" thing. I know if she doesn't make ANY progress while I talk to her, then it would be for her and my own benefit to drop the communication because it's just a waste of time, but for now..? Don't you think just totally walking away is a bit too harsh right now? I mean she's made mucho progress in my eyes for coming forward and talking to me. I think she has potential to get better, I really do think so. |

| Health & Support | How do you deal with stress without food? | Jul 20 2009 23:53 (UTC) |
3 |
Loud music has been proven to help relieve stress. I wouldn't reccomend mopey stuff, but anything that gives you comfort or is familiar to you is good to listen to. Meditation. Yoga. There are many different styles to these two, so if you don't like one method, there is always another worth trying. Warm baths or showers. Naps. Drawing or journaling is pretty a common way to both relieve stress AND get your feelings out. Talk outloud in total jibberish. Seriously, if you feel like you're bottled up just talk as loud or as quiet as you want to yourself in total gibberish for a little while. It does wonders. Care for yourself.. ie put some lotion on after a shower, floss your teeth, paint your toenails, get a massage, go shopping for a new outfit (or window shopping, even), enjoy a warm glass of tea while watching a new movie..
Really, anything can relieve stress, just as long as it's distracting. As far as food goes incorporate more of these foods to help with the stress:
I know where you're coming from. Hang in there, sweetie. |

I'll defiantly talk my parents into taking me up to the doctors to see if we can have any tests done and find out for certain. I wasn't sure it was that much of a big deal.. But bsh0611, I have deffo experienced some suicidal thoughts right before my period, I haven't really thought much of them since I'm too determined to live I figured it wasn't big of a deal. Now I think I should be more concerned and talk with the doctor. miao12, I've actually used herbal alternatives in the past to actually get me to the point where I have a period that only lasts for a week. None of the pills they gave me would do that so I'm pretty convinced of this stuff working, haha. I'll defiantly do my homework and look into it!!
Thanks guys. :P Doctor and homework I go! |

Hey you should check out the green monster movement for breakfast smoothies!: http://greenmonstermovement.com/ It seems right up your alley. Don't know how you stay satieted on those things, they're tasty but I always end up hungry after an hour or so. lol. Defiantly get some carbs in there. I bet that salad for lunch would taste yuuummy with a piece of toast. Ever tried making "italian" toast? Take some olive oil and kinda butter it onto your toast, and then sprinkle some italian seasoning.. God it is AMAZING! Especially with sweeter breads. :P I would also reccomend eating fruit AND nuts at the same time. Smaller portions so you can fit it within your 1800 calorie range, but it'll be a much more balanced snack so that you stay fuller for longer.
Kudos for not undereating. I was cringing at the idea that this was another under 1500 calorie diet from a teen and I would have to bang my head against the desk a couple of times before replying, lol. |

Original Post by katesorad: I digress, no insults to you, but I feel that sort of advice is a bit dangerous. Unless she is short (which, sorry francescas, you're quite tall!) and under doctor supervision, she should not be eating under 1500, and for her height and activity she needs a LOT more then 1500 on a daily basis. It's okay if she goes under every now and then by accident, but it's not healthy to do.. Even if it's just 10 pounds. Those 10 pounds could take a lot longer then our estimates of a month or two, which means a slow in the metabolism and being at risk for many different diseases and health issues. 1500 is bare minimum because that's what a teen needs to support the body. It is not a good idea to go under 1500 calories consistently without doctor supervision. At all. Under any circumstances. You did give great advice. A range is very important. I almost forgot that one. :O |

Hold up baby doll. CC's tools aren't made for teens. IE anyone under 21. NO EXCEPTIONS. Us younginz use this handy dandy BMI chart to estimate our caloric intake: http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html Rule of thumb: do not go under 1500 calories. Unhealthy because you need 1500 to support your body. If you're taller or younger and exercise, you're going to need muuuuch more then that to lose healthily. Don't want to lose healthily? Well, you can expect TONS of health risks, bone loss, and a slow metabolism that'll make you regain all that weight in zippity speeds. :D What's healthy? No more then a 1000 calorie deficit.. 500 keeps you losing 1-2 lbs a week, and keeps you from plateauing. By losing 2 lbs max a week, you should be able to take off 4-8 pounds within a month. You're at a healthy weight, so don't be frustrated if you don't lose 8 pounds within a month. I wouldn't reccomend weighing yourself everyday and basing your progress off of that. Once or twice a week, naked after going to the potty in the morning is more accurate, and it'll keep you from getting obsessed. So anywhosal, for your age, height, and weight, to maintain you need:
So, subtract 500. I'm willing to bet you're at low activity on days you don't go to the gym, and moderate on the days that you do. So, eat 1850 on no gym days, 2190 on gym days. Some tips:
Hope that was helpful, sweets. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. Keep it healthy, okie dokie? |

Thanks you two! My brother, a former subway employee and a former manager-in-training at subway, gave me similar tips. Chillax, subway is really hard at first, but once you get the hang of it it's fun. He also was nice enough to write me a cheat sheet so I can practice memorizing the formulas by heart at home. He aalsooo said that my manager was rushing me too much because I was supposed to start off at veggies instead of meat and bread. It's good to know I'm not the only one who totally sucked.. um.. juice boxes at their job at first! Haha. I'm much more confident now. I can't wait to go back to work and learn more. |

| Young Calorie Counters | What is wrong with wanting to be 110lb? | Jun 23 2009 19:19 (UTC) |

Okay, maybe we should rephrase that. Starving yourself here is synonym to undereating. Undereating = Eating under 1500 calories for anyone under 21. No exceptions. You're young. You NEED to eat 1500 to support your body. More then likely more if you're exercise. Search around the forum for the children's BMI calculator for a damn good estimate. What does this mean? Up your calories or face HEALTH RISKS that could last you FOR LIFE. If you're okay with a "set weight" why are you dieting? You should try eating like a normal person, ie no set calorie range like 1200-1400, and eating what you feel like eating for whatever quantity. I believe they call this "intuitive eating". If you do that in combination with exercise, you'll be at a weight that you're comfortable maintaining without any strenuous effort (like 110 lbs might put you at) and you'll be eating normally so there's no big change between what you're eating while you're "losing weight" and what you're eating when you're maintaining. Your family is concerned. Mine does it too, it may be a pain in the arse to you, but sometimes they do it with good reason. I think yours has a good reason. Eat more, please. |

Age: 15 Height -5'5".. Well, 5'6" on a good day. ;) My goals: - Achieve a healthy mentality in regards to food (ie no good food vs bad food bullsh*t) - Become stronger in my weak areas (ie arms and abs.) - Create more muscle endurance in my legs. - Become fit from inside to out, and enjoy the process! I figure my goals for health will probably let my body find it's "set point" naturally, and I look fine no matter what weight I'm at, so. :) |

| Young Calorie Counters | Will I be able to lose weight? | Jun 21 2009 00:04 (UTC) |

I agree with agmilano. You also have to consider, if you want to grow taller, naturally you're going to gain weight. And as you age, you're naturally going to gain weight. Bone density and suchness. If you decide you want to look lean and toned via strength training, muslce will make you gain weight. If you want to lose weight, feel free to cut off a limb, then you'll lose 10 pounds eeeasily! If you want to lose fat, strength train and toss the scale. It's a bunch of horse**** the majority of the time. 40-30 minutes is less then an hour, so moderately active should be fine. If you're walking around and doing non-intentional exercise, I'd bump it up to the active level. |

| Young Calorie Counters | Weight Loss Question | Jun 19 2009 02:54 (UTC) |
|
Possible reasons: - Overestimating your food portions. This is especially easy to do if you're eating processed stuff, since labels can be off by 10%.. and it's incredibly easy to pack a ton of food into a cup if you try at it. - You grew or are currently growing. Measure your height. - Water weight. Are you close to your period? Have you been eating excess sodium? Have you been doing strength training? Muscle can hold onto a ton of water when it's recovering. - Muscle building. A wee bit of muscle can cause some weight gain. - Something could be wrong with the scale. It's kind of weird to go over to a friend's house in the morning and step on their scale to test the theory, though.. Scale can have numerous reasons for weight gain. Here's the dealio: Try measuring your body for two weeks. This week, and then next week on the same day in the morning after using the urination station and gettin' naked to measure yourself. If you see an increase in the measurements, try replacing some of the processed stuff with fruits or veggies.. they're lower in calories, super good for you, and it'll easily adjust your caloric intake. Do the same for next week. And chuck the scale. Seriously. It's full of crap. |

| Young Calorie Counters | omg sugar... | Jun 10 2009 02:22 (UTC) |

Well, if you're still eating your veggies and other caloric sources, sugar really isn't that much of an issue. It's bad for your teeth, but aside from that. Eh. I wish I still had the article, but I remember reading that you should limit your processed sugar to 100g. In general, sugar isn't that great for you, but if it's coming from fruit, it's fine. I honestly wouldn't concern yourself with it too much. -shrug- Unless you have a health issue relating to your sugar intake, it's not really an issue at all. BTW: calories in vs calories out = Weightloss/Weightgain/maintenance What you do with your calories doesn't matter. Want to feel better and fuller? Listen to your body and eat more unprocessed foods that come directly from nature. I know when I eat too much bread and not enough veggies/fruits/beans/nuts I feel a bit "bleh" and unhealthy. If you feel.. "fat" eat less processed foods for a little while and see if that floats your boat. If you still feel "fat" consider looking into your mental facilities and pinpoint why you feel guilty so you can solve that issue. Being happy with your food is a key to being healthier and weight loss. :D G'luck homeskillet. |

I think even if you toned up and ate healthy, whole foods you'd still be depressed. Why? Putting self-worth on a number/looks. There are PLENTY of larger people who are extremely content with themselves, and enjoying life. You don't have to be a size 2 or a size 20 to be happy with the way you look, you can be who are you are today and still have a great self-esteem and level of happiness. Depression makes it harder to lose weight and tends to make you feel hungrier.. Maybe if you looked up some books at your local library about self-esteem, they will greatly aid you. Defiantly check and see if you're eating enough food for your height and age. Keep in mind, a deficit that is too big = No bueno. If you don't feel hungry with a 300-400 calorie deficit in comparison to a 900-1000 calorie deficit, stick with the 300-400. Trying to lose some extra weight does not mean you should feel hungry all the time, and your body might be hanging onto the extra flab because it thinks you're starving yourself. Also make sure you use the children's BMI chart to measure how many calories you should take in on a daily basis, not CC's tools. Keep in mind though, if you do some strength training, you'll look a LOT less flabby and you'll shrink and looked toned... BUT most of the time, when you do strength training you'll gain weight. Muscle, but weight gain. It's not bad. If you want to measure your progress, eff the scale, stick with the measuring tape.
Diets don't work. Why? Because they're not your own eating habits. Balance your food intake out in a way YOU prefer doing so. As long as you're getting enough nutrients, fat, protein, and carbs in on a daily basis, you'll be happier and your body will thank you. If you make a choice to eat cleaner and healthier on your own terms, you'll lose weight naturally. Dieting doesn't help unless you stick to that diet, otherwise it'll just make you fatter because a lot of the time you'll lose that ability to listen to your body because you have to ignore your hunger signals in order to "stay on track." If you're hungry: eat. If you're not: toss the food, or save it for later. That's what most leaner people do.
Also: Buy better clothes. FFS, if it doesn't make you feel good, stop wearing it. There are clothes out there that are comfortable and look good on you if you look for them. Buuuut, if you're convinced you look like a cow, alas, there is nothing I can do. You can get as skinny as you want, but as long as you're convinced that you're not happy unless you're 110-100 pounds, then I can't help you, can I? What's better, really? Being skinny, or being happy? You can be both eventually, but why spend much longer being miserable on your way to losing weight? Body acceptance is extremely important, so I advise you to atleast look for a book or two.. please? Here's some suggested books: Body Image: Self-Acceptance vs. Imperfection No Body's Perfect: Stories by Teens about Body Image, Self-Acceptance, and the Search for Identity Women and Self-Esteem: Understanding and Improving the Way We Think and Feel About Ourselves Self-esteem comes in all sizes I really, really hope you consider checking these books out at the library. Good luck, young skywa-- err.. Good luck with your journey. :) |

Here's the dealio sierra. Being 13, your body is going to grow. You're going to weigh more as you get taller and you get some curves. If I were you, I'd stop weighing yourself all together if you're actually concerned about it. You will probably never weigh 90 pounds and healthily maintain it as an adult. Size 0-1 pants? I wear a size 10-14 pants (depending on brand.) And I don't even consider my thighs to be fat, just average ol' thighs. They're going to have fat on them. That's just the way thighs are. No one is looking at your thighs and saying "ZOMG BIGGEST THIGHS EVARRRR!!!" they probably just see them as regular proportional thighs. I think what you need is self-esteem. CC does not help that very much at all. You don't need to lose any more weight. Eat healthy, listen to your body, exercise 30-60 minutes a day, get a book from the library on improving your self-esteem, and enjoy life. I wish someone would've given me that advice when I was 12-13. |

| Young Calorie Counters | On the Right Track? | Jun 06 2009 18:48 (UTC) |

Hello Tabby. On the right track? Eh. You've got motivation, but you're not eating enough. Essentially 1200-1300 calories is STARVING yourself. Starving yourself leads to a lifetime of health problems if you start at such a young age, and also makes it really freakin' hard to lose weight in the long run. Someone under 21 needs to eat 1500 calories to survive. Unless you're incredibly short, you'll need to eat more then that if you're exercising (ie doing anything that's not sitting on your bum all day.. walking is included in exercise). CC's tools were developed for people over the age of 21, so they're highly inaccurate for you. Here's the handy dandy calculator for anyone under 21: http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html For someone 5'4" (64 inches) and 142 pounds..
I'd say you're in the very active or moderately active area. Up your calories to atleast 2000. On days you run more or do other activities with your exercise (such as walking around with friends or going to a party or something of that variety) eat atleast 2500 calories so you'll have a healthy 500 calorie deficit. If you lose fast starving yourself you'll have saggy skin, and maintaining the weight loss will be a b*tch to do, and you might even spiral into a frustrating-as-hell binge eating disorder because your body thinks you're starving and then you get addicted to being able to eat large quantities of food.. Next thing you know, you're on CC again next summer trying to lose the weight you gained via binging. I would know. Some liek totully awesum snacks that are pretty high in calorie: - Anything + peanut butter (my favorites being PB oat sammiches, pb oat "cookie", peanut butter mixed into oatmeal, an entire freaking 1/4 cup of peanut butter.. peanut butter on crackers. Oh it can go on forever. - Olive oil + Toast or Salad. Flavorful and delicious. - Whole milk. - Cheese. - Hummus. - Whole eggs. Weight gainers has a high cal food list. :D I personally am more of a fan of animal crackers, ice cream, oatmeal, and peanut butter for my extra calories. I hope you'll adjust your calorie intake! And uh. FYI, losing more then 1 or 2 pounds a week is unhealthy. You got about 10 weeks. You can lose up to 10-20 pounds within this time. Don't be disappointed if you lose less then 17, because bodies are confusing and one week you might not lose, the other week you will. It happens. I'd say just focus on maintaining a workout and eating regimen and seeing how far your body will let you go in terms of weight loss. :D |

| Young Calorie Counters | Nutritionist's advice not helping? | Jun 04 2009 23:41 (UTC) |

Not to be rude, but when is it really a good idea to go against a professional's advice? If you look on the board, you'll know CC's tools aren't made for younginz under the age of 21, and 1500 calories is bare minimum for teenagers. 1-2 pounds a week is a healthy rate to lose weight, and if you were losing faster then that, you were probably STARVING yourself. Yeah, there will be a flunctuation with your weight when you start a new plan. The solution? Don't weigh yourself until next week. If you're bothered by the lack of quick results, stop weighing yourself more then once a week before it gets obsessive. Stick to your nutritionist's advice, and the weight will come off, and you'll be healthy. Go back to the way you were eating or eating less then the advice given, and you'll put your health in jeopardy (osteoporsis anyone? How about stunted growth?) and you'll end up losing too fast.. which will make it extremely hard to maintain... and thus, binge eating, and thus weight gain.. and thus back to square one. Truuust me on this one, kiddo.
Also: losing weight too quickly makes saggy and flabby skin, incase health risks does not phase you one bit. :D So unless you want saggy and flabby skin, keep to your plan and lose weight at a healthy pace of 1-2 pounds a week. Good luck! |
