Good Morning here are my stats at the end of week 4

Last week weight 201.52 lbs, 91.6 Kg

This week weight 202.4 lbs, 92 Kg

So this week i have gained a pound. Frankly I have been over eating, not by much, but clearly enough to gain, which if that was my objective, fine.BUT IT's NOT!

Seven day average this week is 201.62 so th epound is definitley out there! Definitely for me it works to only weigh in once a month, I think I'm getting too hung up on the whole scales thing weighing in weekly. I truly hope the rest of you are being more successful.

Guys can any of you help me out here?

I've been fluctuating between 198 and 201 for two months now and although I started at 242 in May, I am just so fed up with it. DO you have any ideas on how to get things moving again.? My ultimate goal is 145 so I still have a way to go.

I'm feeling really demotivated becasue despite dropping a couple of dress sizes and looking different than when I started, plus lots of people that haven't seen me for a while are saying you're looking so good these days. My Husband is being really supportive despite all of this when he takes photographs to show me how much weight I've lost, and I'm feeling particulary slinky, I still see a very fat person Cry

I'm thinking that if after all this time (six months) and how differently my clothes are fitting why don't I look better in photographs? I mean i don't look as fat when I look in the mirror, am I deluded? Why can't I begin to lose again? Until mid October I was losing with out fail between 5 & 7 lbs per month. I'm wondering if I should just accept that I am just meant to be fat. Any advice would be welcome.

You know what wannabfit, you could be on to something! I'm getting so fed up with chasing the same five pounds over and over, it's getting so de-motivating Frown

The only thing that keeps me trying is the weight graph tracker that at least is a visual display that over all my weight is heading down. The really wierd thing is that prior to commiting to this target of 15 pounds off by Jan 1st, I was acheiving 1- 2 lbs a week off any way! How strange is that? I'm guessing it's just a co-incidence LOL.

Hey Navyshapeup, welcome on board Smile 15 lbs off by Jan 1st is agressive but you should be able to do 10 by then I would have thought. I guess it all depends on your exercise regime,Good Luck!

Original Post by varcourt:

As for screaming, my youngest son does have a tendency to fuss when things happen he doesn't like - a favored activity stops, the car stops, taking away a toy, etc.  The best strategy we found was counting down.  Apparently it wasn't the ceasing of activity that upset him, but the unpredictable.  So we say "water play is going to stop in 5-4-3-2-1 (counting slowly)... All done with water play."  It's been very effective most of the time.

This is a GREAT idea, too bad it does not work on Teenage boys lol

Yes this is good advice it's great practice to say to your child play time is only for another five minutes then we stop, in 3 mins we stop playing and go and have a bath, in one min we're going to have a bath, ok it's bathtime. I used to do this with my girls when they were small, it stops a lot of tantrums x

DOesn't work with teenagers though LOL

You know what? Most toddlers go through this phase, it is a phase and to begin with I would just ignore it. The worst thing you can do is give in to him if he's screaming because he doesn't like being directed as you want him to be ie taking something away he shouldn't have.

Although it feels like it goes on forever it doesn't honestly. It's probably just that like all small children he's found a sound he can make that gets a reaction. If it does go on for a month then get his hearing checked just for your piece of mind. BTW agree with your grandmother that she will treat him the same way you are otherwise it will be confusing for your son and counter productive. Wink

Defnitely supermarket value/basics ranges. try shopping around 6 pm when the staff are marking down the food that's reached it's sell by date. Pasta is cheap. Morrisons have good deals on veg this week lots of items for 30p. Jacket potatoes with various fllings are good. Lidl and Aldi can be cheap, they have a lot of own brand products which are as good as the branded stuff in other supermarkets.

Porridge for breakfast, oats are cheap, nutritious and filling.

Tomato soup with pasta or red lentils is filling and easy to make. for two people finely chop an onion, cook in water until soft, adda can of tomatoes suidge them your self don't pay extra for crushed ones, 1 stock cube, herbs, little chili oil, a can of water, bring to the boil, simmer for 10 mins, add pasta or red lentils (about 30 grams) cook until soft. Keep an eye on them in case you need any more water. Very filling and tasty.

Tomato sauce for pasta, finely chop an onion, cook gently in a little oil, add tomatoes, again squidge your self it's cheaper, add herbs to taste, cook until onion is soft and use on Pasta.

Tescos soya mince in place of meat will have the same texture and with easy sauces you can't really tell the difference. Just follow the cooking instructions.

Also if you eat meat now might be the time to try things like liver adn kidneys they are cheap and you can google recipes for how to cook.

Good luck!

I have sillk tops that have been labeled dry clean only but I've hand washed with the right liquid and they re fine.

I also have silk tops that have been labeled wash 40 degrees, and they've been ruined because they got in with a general load and I had used biological washing liquid.

It's all a bit hit and miss really!

With some items it's the pressing I can't get right that's the problem!

Yep it is old but you can hardly comment on that when the post was referenced on the home page under a fortnight ago.

I believe that the role of our belief system, whatever God we worship, is relevant to weight loss. If only from the aspect that every religion I can think off encourages the individual to take responsibility for them selves and their environment. Presumably even if you are agnostic you want the best for your self and your surroundings.

i've heard fat chicks from this site use that motto, just because it comes out of a super models mouth doesnt mean it gets to be ripped apart now.

Actually this is an interesting point, albeit vocalised in a somewhat clumsy way.

I have lost 42 lbs, have 55 lbs to go, and use these sorts of sayings to myself to dissuade my self from over indulging on occasion. At how many pounds overweight does it become non PC to use these sayings?

I think that people with eating disorders are ill and a throw way comment from a  model will not encourage anyone to develop an eating disorder.

I have belonged to slimming clubs in the past and they have promoted such sayings as 'Fridge pickers wear bigger knickers', 'a moment on the lips a life time on the hips' and of course 'nothing tastes as good as thin feels'.All little 'mantras' to make those of us trying to reduce our waistlines stop and think whether we really need that second helping of cheese cake etc. I agree with those of you that rightly say that Kate's comment has been blown out of all proportion by the media.

 I agree she's not a role model, she's a fashion model.

I don't mind one day having a little more or a little less as long as over the week it averages out to the right level.

Tell me, how many of your husband's friends' suitcases are in our group now LOL!Undecided

I'll weigh tomorrow as well then we can compare notes x

Good Morning here are my stats at the end of week 3

Last week weight 201.96 lbs, 91.8 Kg

This week weight 201.52 lbs, 91.6 Kg

Totally fed up today on Wedsnesday this week I weighed in at 198, now two days later I am 201.96! How do you gain 4 lbs in two days??? Nightmare on Elm Street or what? So this weeks loss is .44 of a pound Zippy Dip!

Anyway just to make me feel better I took the last seven days weights added them together and divided by seven this gave me an average for the week of 200.23. None too shabby! Perhaps for me this is the way forward? Averages LOL

Sometimes i feel like giving up, so I look at my graph and see the overall trend is down and frankly I'm clinging to that; and that I am wearing clothes again that I haven't worn for a good few years.

Right moan over I'll check in with you tomorrow

I walk, garden, static cycle and a little bit of yoga. Until recently I was swimming as well butlike most pools in Spain ours is not heated so it's far too cold to swim at the moment. I guess I'm just awimp really LOL

Hey Marcus, I was like you at the beginning of the year two things I find that work for me (excluding using this site) are,1) Keep a food diary, logging every thing I eat even if it takes me over my daily calorie allowance and 2) Being honest with myself.

I thought there must be something wrong with me as I had tried everything in the past to lose weight, WW, Atkins, Slimming World, over the counter, prescription and illegall drugs. I would lose about a stone and then put it all back on and more.

Using the strategy of being honest and logging every thing that goes in my mouth, makes me aware of how I am 'spending' my daily calories and where, so I am able to make better more informed choices about what I eat and drink and when. Sunday was a milestone for me I actually asked for a doggie bag and took away over half my lunch because I was full. In the past I would have eaten it all becausI didn't recogenise I was full, I was paying for it or more unlikely Embarassed left some becasue I would not have had tto ask for it the confidence to ask for the food to go.

In six months I have lost 3 stone and dropped four dress sizes, and I've heard other people say this about themselves, but honestly if I can do it you can.

One final thing I also had to get my head around the fact that the 97 excess Lbs I was carrying took about 5 years to go on so it was not coming off in a month! That mind shift also helped.

I hope this helps and Good Luck!

I don't think it is a bad habit if you use portion control.

After lunch I have 105 cals of Activia Yoghurt with the fruit base, sweet and yummy!

In the evening after my dinner I have one of the following, Kellogs Rice Crispie Square 118 cals, 2 squares (20 grams) Good Plain Chocolate 120 cals, Individual Milky Way (about 108 cals) or a Cadburys Fudge 118 cals. Or I have something home made, last night I had a small banana and custard made with skim milk for around 200 calories. It just depends how I feel, what I fancy and how many calories I have available Smile. BUT I do 'need' soemthing sweet after my meal. I also 'need' something snacky through the evening so i always keep around 100 calories available for that; be it 2 Ryvita and a reduced fat triangle cheese or a packet of Quavers or similar.

I use the expression 'need' loosley because i recognise this is more likely a habit but even so this whole calorie count thing is about being able to sustain your eating pattern when you reach maintenance and frankly I think being able to have these little food treats are what keep me on the staight and narrow!Innocent
