Weight Loss Wondering if there was a Group for Brides trying to lose weight Aug 11 2009

Congrats on being engaged!

Although it might make some people wince, this is why I started on CC (the wedding is June 5th, 2010!). Since then I've realized that changing my habits is good for the long term, and I've really changed how I think about food. You have my support!

Here are a few groups I found:

http://caloriecount.about.com/beautiful-bride s-weddings-g1052 - Beautiful Brides for 2010 Weddings

I'm 5'4 and I started out at 185 too, I'm down to 163 as of today. You can definately do it! Have you set a date?

Weight Loss Insane bingeing dreams. Aug 06 2009

I had a few of these when I first started cutting calories. I vividly remember one where I ate an entire roasted turkey and then felt awful. When I woke up it was such a relief!

Even if you aren't stressing about food it probably is on your mind more than it has been in the past, and I find that my dreams will obviously or not so obviously reflect what I've had on my mind.

This post is great, its really cheering me up :)

I have beautiful, soft skin. I love it! I also like my butt. When I first started losing weight my boyfriend said to me, "You aren't going to lose your butt are you?" Just like Sir Mixalot, haha. I told him that I wasn't going to lose it, it was only going to get better. :D

I too love the Slim Fast shakes for breakfast, and I even like the ones in a can! (Chocolate Royal is the best!) Under 200 calories and full of vitamins and protein, its great for when you have absolutely no time. Or, if you're like me, when you are just feeling lazy.

Weight Loss Humiliations of Being Overweight Jun 17 2009

Original Post by victoriagirl:

A similar sort of thing happened to me once. I went to a walk-in clinic for a totally non-weight-related issue, and after dealing with that, the doctor proceeded to try and sell me some bogus weight-loss product she was selling from her back office. The DOCTOR. At the time I was just humilated, but in retrospect I should have reported her for unethical behaviour.

Another time some random older lady struck up a conversation with me in a line-up by turning to me and saying "You should really lose weight now, while it's easy, it gets much harder when you are older". Oh REALLY, it's easy, how dumb am I for not taking care of this while it's easy.

What I don't get is why, when you are fat, to some people your body becomes public domain and it's ok to comment or suggest or make fun of....though I guess this is true if you are overly skinny too, or appear pregnant, or even just have a big nose.

You touch on an interesting point. I feel like people in general think that women's bodies are ok to comment upon, wither they are fat or thin or ugly or pretty. I could get started on a whole slew of feminist rants on this issure, but I'll just leave it at that, because I know that people comment about men's bodies too.

Weight Loss What you've had to unlearn from childhood. Jun 15 2009

I had a very happy childhood and my mother was a great cook. However, there were five of us kids, so very penny had to count, food wise. These are some of the things that have been ingrained in my head that I am trying to overcome:

-If you don't eat everything on your plate you are rude and the person who made the meal will be insulted, even the chef at a restaurant

-When you are sad, a treat like ice cream or a candy bar can make you feel better.

-If you have had a hard day/achieved an accompishment, you deserve a treat

-A slice of buttered bread goes with every meal

-When you go out to a restaurant you (or someone else) are/is playing a lot of money for you meal, so you should make sure to eat it all.

Health & Support Please help- I need support: rage, anger and sadness...stop me from bingeing Jun 06 2009

First of all, I am very sorry this happened to you. I know how you feel, I have been though something similar myself. In this situation, eating food excessively would be a self-destructive act, so if you can try to resist.

I know that you are upset, angry, and hurt. Food won't change any of those feelings, unfortunately. Call a friend or family member, what you really need now is support.

I don't know if this will help, but these are some things I realised when an ex cheated on me:

-You don't deserve this, no matter what state your relationship was in. If there were problems between the two of you they could have been solved in other, less hurtful ways. You didn't drive him to do this, it was his choice.

-While you may want to blame it all on the other woman, don't spend all your anger on her (its ok to be a little mad at her though). Its possible that she didn't know about your existence. I've seen many women (myself included) blame the other woman, but as I said above it was still his choice.

-You deserve to be with someone who respects you. Someone who has the courage to tell you how they feel, even if things are not going well in the relationship. Oftentimes when people cheat there are problems in the relationship that they are afraid to deal with, and that, frankly, is cowardly (I say that from both sides of the situation, I have been cheated on and I have cheated. It is ugly.).

Again, I am sorry that this happened to you. Allow yourself time to be upset, find someone you can talk to, and know that you are a strong person and you will make it though this.

I used to work at a starbucks, so I know how tempting and frustrating snacking there can be. What I used to do while I was working was to drink lots and lots of iced black tea with splenda or water, and whenever anyone tried to split up a chocolate muffin or something I would just drink the tea instead.

Luckily that is a very active job too, by the time I left I was able to carry six gallons of milk at once!

Weight Loss what are your personal "Yeah!" moments May 28 2009

I think I've just had my first "Yeah!" moment! I just started on CC about two weeks ago, and I've lost 5 lbs! I was so shocked when I weighed myself this morning, I could hardly believe it! Frankly, despite all the work I've been doing it felt like nothing was going to change. But it has! I'm very excited.

Here are some things I am looking forward to:

-fitting into my expensive jeans again

-being able to outrun my fiance

-having a reason to buy new clothes

-looking amazing for my wedding next summer

-enjoying being active
